Using the tree she'd hit to help stabilize herself, Cyreanne managed to crawl to her feet. Looking out across the dense forest she noted the figure step around the flames of the now burning tree, with two more heat signatures not far behind her. She swore under her breath then raised her hand to fire another firebolt when she saw the shockwave heading towards her. Almost too late she let herself fall backwards, the burst of energy hit the tree, sending splinters of wood in all directions as the base exploded, and the upper portion of the flew back. As she was falling, Cyreanne was hit by the second energy wave and flew across the ground into the base of a second tree. She struggled to move, but could only manage to cough up blood.

Abel knew he couldnt stick around, and he wanted to help the poor stranger so bad, but he couldn't with his arms full. He was a sitting duck. He was just putting himself and Kaori into more danger just standing there. He hated the idea of it, how chicken-s**t he'd look as he turned and ran. But it was his only choice. Spinning on the heel of his boot, quite agilely even with Kaori in his arms, the large male took off, darting left and right in a zig zag pattern. His back was turned as he retreated making him an even more susceptible target, he knew.
After a bit he knew he was far enough away that the trees and distance concealed him and he slowed, stopping as he got to the clearing where they were originally suppose to meet. He dropped down to his knees, smooth as he could and lay Kaori down. He shifted to sit cross-legged and rested her head in his lap, having more decency now to not just lay her head on the hard earth. "Kaori?" He paused "God, please wake up"

Kaori's brow furrowed, her eyes remaining shut as a low moan escaped her lips. She rolled her head to the side, her breathing a little shallow, but no moe so than someone that was sleeping. After a few moments, she cracked her eyes open, and found herself staring up at Abel. "A-Abel?" she sounded weak and tried to push herself up, but seemed unable to even move her arms. "What... what happened?" She asked through a sore throat.
"The barrier... did it work?" She asked suddenly, as bits and pieces of what she had just done begain to flood her mind.

Abel had been watching her closely, and when her brow furrowed, just the slightest movement caught his attention. His ears pricked forward, excited. Hopeful. "Yeah, Kaori? I'm here." His voice was so soft, a comforting whisper, his eyes narrowed on her in concern. "Stay still, I guess we'll just wait it out, I cant leave." A frustrated frown crossed his pale face for a split second, returning quickly back to it's concerned state.
"A lot. . . " how was he suppose to explain all of that? So he did his best to sum it up, and let her rest. Kaori's next question caused him to shake his head grimly, "I'm afraid not" His gray gaze dropped, almost ashamed, hating to be the bearer of bad news.

Kaori dropped her head back and closed her eyes again. "Why..." she whispered almost to herself. "Why do they have to kill so many..." a tear leaked out of the corner of her eye and ran down the side of her face. She could feel it in the air... just an aura of suffering, of coldness... emptiness...
"I'm sorry..." she said next, slightly louder, just slightly. "I got you all into this... if I hadn't stopped to set up the barrier..."

"I wish I knew. . . " Abel reached down with those thin fingers, brushing the tear away. He closed his eyes, his senses didnt quite cover those of which she was feeling now, but he understood, though she had only said a short sentence, a question more or less. He let his head drop, silver hair cascading around his face, almost completely hiding it.
Abel shook his head a bit, but didnt lift it, "Don't be sorry, You needed to protect your home, I envy that. I'm sorry we didnt have enough time to save it. And I'd rather be here helping than anything else, you know that. . ."

Kaori smiled slightly at Abels comment, it was nice to know she hadn't just deligated the task to him at least. "No... It wasn't the house... the house was just wood and fabric, it was build by hands. It was the memories, and I carry those with me... I just thought..." She swallowed, trying to moisten her throat, "I thought that I could be some help in getting the others away. Unlike the rest of you, I was not very much help in that fight... it made me realize how useless I would be if we had gotten cuaght again. I thought... I thought that if I put up that barrier, then there was less of a chance of you all being caught, that I could contribute that way at least... and now the others are still back there, and I do not know what is happening with them..."

Abel nodded a bit, opening his eyes to gaze at her, just in time to see her smile. He wasnt sure what to say, atleast for the moment. "Its ok, the others dont blame you either and no one had been caught yet. . . setting up those barriers was a ton of help" He stumbled over his words, sure by now he sounded like an idiot, but he got what he wanted to tell her communicated. Abel lifted his head, turning to gaze off in the distance before continuing, "I haven't been much help either, not for any of the past fights"
He was ashamed of this fact. Fighting was in his blood, he was trained for this. Abel gazed out of the corners of his eyes at her again, reaching out again to smooth her hair and move it from her face.

Seeing her target abandoned by its allies, Lucia slowed her pace and strode silently toward Cyreanne's broken form, which was struggling to rise. Before too long she was just before the injured half-witch. She knelt down before the ecclectically dressed woman and stroked the side of her face. "Foolish anathema, daring to challenge the power of the Gods. You stand no chance in this world, it no longer belongs to your kind." She laughed, a cruel, wicked sound rising from her lungs. She leaned in and licked the side of Cyreanne's face, then whispered in her ear, "I can taste the filth of your poisoned blood." Her tongue slid into Cyreanne's ear, when it returned to Lucia's mouth, she spoke again. "In what direction does the filth flow?" She grinned, the hot air of her breath blowing against her victim's skin. "What is the destination of your allies?"

Cyreanne glared at the figure approaching her, but was too injured to do anything about her enemy's presence, given the injuries that the half-witch had sustained. With her one good arm she stealthily slipped her hand into her pocket, fingering a bottle of rejuvenating potion she'd acquired from a stage she helped once, long ago. As soon as the zealot turned her head, Cyreanne intended on taking it and fighting back, she was going to give the others as much time as she could. She continued her powerful glare as the woman spoke to her, but couldn't repress the shiver that ran up her spine as her enemy stroked her face and laughed. The whole event felt so surreal, and she couldn't suppress the slight feeling of arousal that accompanied her disgust as the zealot caressed her with her tongue. "You b***h. I'm not telling you s**t." She replied, "Even if I did know where they were heading, I wouldn't tell you."

Lucia laughed in response to Cyreanne's words, "What do you get out of this? Attempting to defend those who abandoned you, they left you to save themselves, they left you alone here to face me with a broken body. You are without allies here, they did nothing for you, you owe them naught." She leaned in, her face but an inch away from Cyreanne's, "You know, the church might forgive you for being a half-blood, there's little that you could have done about it. With your possession of human blood in your system, the Gods just might decide to let your deformity slide and allow you into their good graces." She leaned in further, the side of her face up against the side of Cyreanne's, her lips up agains the half-witche's ear. "If you cooperate with us, I will personally see you through."

Cyreanne maintained her glare through the whole of Lucia's words, not saying a word in response. She kept her silence and did not speak, even when Lucia had finished. When Lucia leaned into her and offered to see Cyreanne through, the half-witch jumped on the opportunity and sunk her teeth into the woman's neck, tearing away with a chunk of flesh in her blood-soaked mouth.

Screaming, Lucia fell back, she tried to speak but only the sound of gurgling blood came out. She threw her hands over her throat. A blue glow was emitted as she stemmed the blood flow and flesh began growing over the open wound.

While Lucia was still down, Cyreanne quickly downed the rejuvenation potion. She felt intense pain as her bones began to mend themselves, but it was worth the discomfort as seconds later Cyreanne had risen to her feet. Raising a lit finger to her lips Cyreanne blew out a stream of fire towards Lucia where she lay on the ground, her wound nearly healed.

Kaori opened her eyes slghtly and stared up at Abel. "Oh... I do not think so. If not for you, it sounds like I would still be lieing back there..." Opening her eyes a little bit wider, her brow creased again, this time in concern for him. "Abel... you should go back, check on the others and make sure that they are all alright. I will be fine here, I promise." She gave a small smile again so that he might be slightly more inclined to leave her there.
