"I want pasta," he said simply, thumbing through said section of the menu. There looked to be some pretty good ones and when he at last decided upon one, a broad smile spread across his lips. "This one looks good..." he said, pointing at it. Then, realising he had yet to answer the other's previous question, he added, "No. I don't want a job - they're kinda just boring and... Well, I like staying with my family, anyway. And they need all of us to help out around the store."

Leif panned around the room very slowly. It was obvious he was about to fall asleep right then and there, in the proverbial den of snakes. He blinked slower and slower, unable to contain the full yawn that tilted his head back against the armchair he was curled in. Once his eyes had closed, his body relaxed completely into sleep. The concious let exaughstion take its toll, let the body rest after two days of not sleeping. It was his normal habit to go that long without sleeping, then sleep for a day and wake up and start the whole cycle over. Unfortunatly his normal bedtime had been ******** with. Which left his not-so-kind subconcious with full control of the physical form.

His eyes reopened an even paler green, like fresh sprouts still pale from their time spent underground. A smell like freshly melted snow, like spring and life filtered through the room. Leif smiled like he knew just how the world was going to end. And who knows, maybe his power did.

Kiyo smiled and nodded while Shiyaa smiled at him, ruffling his red hair," We should get going, then...." He said, taking his son's hand. Kiyo began tugging him out of the store, obviously wanting to get home so he could ask them a thousand questions.

Mie-tanuki
Shadi had been about to answer - the answer was simple, after all. They had been together for an entire eight years. If that wasn't a long time, he didn't know what was. But Gervain cut him off. "Yes... we've been together for about two years," he said. He was a master of controlling his controlling what emotions he displayed on his face and there was currently a happy smile on his face - although anyone who looked close enough might be able to tell that his eyes did not at all match the smile. Shadi looked slightly confused for a moment and then realisation hit him. It would look weird if Shadi had been with someone for eight years - particularly because he was only sixteen.

Brice just sipped his cola, looking at Shadi for a moment then back at Gervain.

"Poor kid." he said, meaning Shadi of course. Any amount of time with this guy must not be very pleasent. Being eatting alive by an army of ants would be more fun, or so Brice would like to think.

While Shadi's attention was sufficiently diverted towards Brice, Gervain was fully aware of the other -- Leif. The moment the change had come onto him, the Necromancer's eyes had fixed on him. Apart from the earthy fragrence, the atmoshpere had most deffinately changed - it seemed heavy with humidity and warmth, a climate that was plant-friendly. Gervain groaned inwardly, his hand gripping the arm of the love seat rather harder than Shadi would have liked.

Shadi looked up at Brice, a little confused. "I... what do--?" But he was cut off by Gervain. The other's arm had been around his waist and suddenly the hand was gripping much harder than before, the nails digging into the boy's skin until they drew blood, even from beneath Shadi's shirt. He yelped and Gervain flexed his fingers, letting go instantly. He, however, had not taken his eyes from Leif. The hair on the back of the Necromancer's neck was rising and he leaned forward slightly towards the Geomancer. Shadi looked over, his expression mingling pain and confusion until his eyes followed Gervain's and rested on Leif. He was instantly skittish, paranoid. THis man was deffinately a mage and Gervain probably meant to kill him. Shadi didn't want to kill any more - he had had to several times before and had hated it - but why would Ger keep him close unless he needed Shadi's help?

Leif's eyes were heavy lidded, and a smile was curled comfortabley on his face, a placid smile, the kind of look you have when you know a secret that you think someone else would want to hear. His eyes were vaguely locked onto Gervain's, but there was none of the former menace. No battle lust dwelled on the geomancer's face. It was like the power was comfortable, relaxed now that it was no longer fighting against it's host.

"You look worried..." The voice that came out of Leif's mouth was much lower than his previous speaking, garbled almost, like it was rocks crashing against each other.

Kaya slowly stood and started to follow Kiyo and Shiyaa. He wondered briefly if he would be okay going with them. He knew his powers got out of control frequently since he still didn't know how to control them yet. The thought slipped from his mind though as he stepped out into the cold and held the door open for Kuno to follow.

Gervain decided to play out this new, mellow attitude of Leif's. "Why... of course I am. I'm quite worried that my dear Shadi will be stollen away. With two men in ou home... well, you just never know..." he said, thinking quickly. Best to put the other off track... to distract him from any thoughts of battles or violence... He gave the other a shrug and a slightly sheepish smile - the type of smile an apprehensive, love sick man would offer a freind he was confiding in. "I just couldn't live after something so terrible as that."

Leif's throat rumbled with a laugh like thunder. Clearly he was amused. "And you expect me to believe that?" He was still smiling, but the air in the room had grown thicker, the smell turning from green spring smells to the strong smell of fresh tilled black earth. The body language, even the words couldn't cover up that sense of cold spilling out of Gervain. Not to Leif's fresh-born power.

"Mmm... no. But then... you don't know about partners... or... well, anything. If I were... let's say... die... Well, poor Shadi here would be left all alone. And cute little thing he is, someone else would snatch him up before long. Singer* here is a rarity," he said, smirking down at his partner, who was wincing both with pain and in horror of the other's words. Gervain... Ger was releasing information that Shadi was... a... a mage and Brice was there and he might not be a mage and...

((*Shadi is Arabic for "singer."))

"Sounds like you need him a lot more than he needs you." Leif purred. His power wasn't concerned with partnering with anyone just yet. As far as it was concerned, he was a partner unto himself. The power had been repressed so long that it had developed an alternate personality. Bad for Leif, good for his geomancy. It didn't need to know anything, it was purely a creature of power and earth.

"You're hurting him for no reason, you know." He almost growled out. He was quick to hold grudges, but the bleeding one had brought his host a drink. No need to break good strong bodies that could carry things for no reason.

"But can't you see... we need each other," Gervain said silkily, his orange gaze straying down to the boy who was currently clutching at his shirt, shivering. Gervain's arm had found its way back around the boy's waist. "If something happened to either of us... we would know. It would hurt. Isn't that right, Shadi?"

--"Shadi... this is what happens when you do not follow instructions. It hurts, doesn't it?" Gervain - a younger, shorter Gervain - stood over the pale eight-year-old boy curled up on the floor. Shadi shuddered, his entire body trembling with pain and fear, clutching at his bleeding right hand. "Y-y-yes... Ger..." he murmured, tears welling up in his eyes. "I..." More tears rolled down his cheeks, trickling into his mouth. He once would have spat them out defiantly - but now... now if he... if he made a wrong move, angered Ger... did anything bad.... So he swallowed his tears, both literally and figuratively. The trails of wet crystals ceased, although the boy continued to shiver and shudder.

"You'll be good, then, won't you?" he said, smiling brightly - that smile... like Shadi was a doll... or a pet... or.... Those orange eyes twinkled with glee as the pale boy strugled to raise his deep blue gaze to reach the other's. He nodded slowly - his head hurt too much for any quick motion.

"Good," he crooned, leaning down to ruffle his hair. "Shadi... You need me. And I need you. That's why I'm doing this. That's why you have to follow me. That's why we'll always be together."--

Leif made a sound that was strangely similar to the rumble of an earthquake, or the noise that happens just before a volcano erupts. In any case, it wasn't pleasant. The earth magic inside him was not fond of creatures who abused the innocent. He could feel, smell, taste the fear and panic and sadness in the memory. Of course he couldn't see it directly, but the effect was nearly the same.

However, the anger was starting to bother his host. Power didn't want Leif to wake up just yet, so he cooled his temper down to a much quieter hiss.

"I... yes..." Shadi murmured, leaning his head against the other's shoulder. They looked like the perfect couple, at least. But it really was true. Shadi was very afraid of anything happening to Gervain, of losing anyone else, of being alone, of not having Gervain there to help and protect him, even if that protection came at a price. Yes... he was very, very afraid. It hurt to think about Gervain dying. No matter how badly he had treated Shadi, no matter how hurt and twisted the boy had become... He was still dear to him, still needed... wanted... loved. Shadi shuddured at that thought. Did he... could he... really love Gervain? He wasn't sure.

Leif's easy smile had faded into a narrow eyed frown, an expression that made the man about as imposing as a mountain. He didn't believe for a second that Shadi and Gervain had only been together for two years. The little one had a way about him that said he'd been trained from childhood to be someone else's personal puppet. It was sad, really, how easy it was to make children believe things by beating it into them.

"You're disgusting... And I've half a mind to finish what I've started." He was loath to fight again, the host was so weary, and without a semblance of coopperation and the necessary adreniline, it might be a little more difficult... But the power was confident he could draw sufficient energy off the life forces of those present in the room.

Then again he wasn't quiet sure the little Singer's weak mind could handle having another killed in front of him. It already seemed like the frail child was on the verge of breaking.
