mipcy SullenFever98 Hey everyone! I play flute <3 in concert band and piccolo <3 in marching band. I've been playing flute for 6 years now and piccolo for 2 I'm thinking of getting a bass flute (hells yeah) next year some time but my band director said that no music calls for bass flute so :crying: gonk Flute choir calls for it all of the time! Appalachian state has an awesome flute program. you should check the website out. I'm not sure how much they have, but the flute choir's awesome. Where's Appalachian State?

SullenFever98 RinoaHeartilly SullenFever98 Hey everyone! I play flute <3 in concert band and piccolo <3 in marching band. I've been playing flute for 5 years now and piccolo for 2 I'm thinking of getting a bass flute (hells yeah) next year some time but my band director said that no music calls for bass flute so :crying: gonk I play the picc during marching and then switch over to flute during the concert season too. people over here start learning how to play in 6th grade, but some places they start in 5th or even sooner. I take it since you've been playing for 5 yrs ur a sophmore? Nope, Freshman. This is my 6th year playing; I started in fourth grade. Eh... close enough xd

Sorrowssweetest Hah, Im a flute playeron the side. I played flute in 7th grade concert band, but other than that I play it for enjoyment or when they need a strong flute player to help the others figure out the music. Flute is second best, Saxophone will always be my first love. O smile ( Ive been playing flute for 4 years.) Haha, I'm the other way around. I like sax second best and flute is my first love. XD Ohmygawd, the band gets to make their own posters for Homecoming tomorrow! It's so we don't have to sit under the freshman section like we usually do. XD Oh, the dirty, dirty jokes we can make... especially the sax section... and the trombones. xp Me and the other three band kids in my history class all sit together, and we were sitting around talking about all the posters we want to make - the main one is, "We have our own holiday - what do YOU have?" 'Cause we do... we had a LHS Band Day declared by the mayor of the city. We're just awesome like that. We had sectionals in class today since we had a sub. Thing is, I already have weekly flute sectionals, and I have a hard enough time with THAT. >.> So I went and hid my flute behind some stuff and said I didn't have it... and then went and played pep band music with the sax guys. XD We just screwed around most of the period and made fun of the alto player (he's a sophomore - the other tenor and I are juniors and the bari's a senior). It was fun... more fun than the flute sectionals, where everyone bitches at each other. >.< I heard it went badly too, from one of my friends in the flute section. (She's in my chem class with me.)

Ugh. Apparantly Thanksgiving wasn't so great for the band as a whole (or at least the band room.) Apparantly a pipe burst over our music library so $70,000 worth of music may be lost, and we have bending shelves and ceiling tiles falling off. Not to mention that the room smells like mold and is really humid. The cafeteria is separated from us by a movable wall. Just imagine eating lunch with that horrible smell.
And now for a piece of advice. Never get 75 band nerds, one band director, and the parents of said 75 band nerds mad at you. Some guy wrote a letter to the editor that complained how we lacked proper uniforms, and how they give a lot of money for the band to exist, we should at least have spiffy uniforms. Needless to say, all of the band-related people are writing letters to the editor now too. Today it was one of our drum majors, and the mother of one of our oboes. I feel like writing one too. This is just not our week. sweatdrop

Maybe they'll take it into consideration and you all will get new uniforms, unless the ones u have right now are wicked, whereas then the person who was complaining is an a** whee Holy... 70k of music??? JeSuS cHrIst... that's a lot eek

Yes it is a good thing that he wants us to get new uniforms, but the way he had written it was very rude. He mentioned that he was dissappointed that such small amount of kids showed up in street clothes. That small amount of kids is 95% of our bands, and our uniform is made to be worn in the summer. I think by now most of our band has written back. Our president wrote the most awesome letter ever in yesterdays paper.
On another note, I have a concert on the 6th (the first day of Intramural Basketball at that, how sad) and a concert on the 9th. I hope we sound good. The new music building we're performing in allows every person to be heard. (It's really cool!)
