Sunstrike
Sun gasped and then made a strangled sound.

"H-hey! That's not fair Shin!" But he had to admit, it was getting them to where they needed to be sooner. Already he'd been starting to feel stressed and tired, and it was weird as hell to have someone just lift that off of him...somewhat harshly, but still.

But it wasn't just all the trouble of the day that was worrying him, something kept nagging him in the back of his mind. A stray warning signal that didn't usually happen to Sun. Even Vahn tended to be hard to visualize, because as far as mental magic went, Sun had ziltch. But there were small connections, to his eye, to...things he'd created or had some hand in...

Shin raced upstairs as if the levels of stairs were nothing. But instead of turning down towards Sun's room, he turned the opposite corner and made his way to Sun's suite. It was fairly similar to Sun's room, just in a different colour scheme.

Where Sun's suite was decorated in warm shades and spicy hues, Shin's room was done to reflect the cool and calm respite of the woodlands. Rich greens with black and touches of brown and grey.

He nudged the door open and set Sun down on the bed gently, walking over to his dresser and leafing through clothes for a pair of pants.

"Vahn should be here tomorrow or the day after... We haven't had any distress calls from Lysira, so everything is fine."

Everything wasn't fine.

Tomorrow's flight through the air was cooling to his face, the sweat dripping down it mingling with the rainwater that surrounded him as gravity took hold of him and pulled him from the clouds to send him hurtling down, back to earth.

There would be a whislting noise, like that of a shell flying through Normandy air - before a massive thud, a dustcloud erupting from outside the compound walls, the ground shaking as Gaia accepted the son of Odin back to her.

As the rubble and dust settled around him, John clawed his way out of the crater of dirt, his hand gripping the grass to pull himself out.

His hair was matted, his clothes torn and slashed. A massive gash went across his broad chest, blood oozing from it still, staining his dirty shirt and spilling along the ground as he pulled himself closer to the compound. Each pull pulled the wound open, exposing the cleaved bones and the nicked heart and lungs within.

His arm had been sliced clean at the shoulder, the blood pumping weakly from the open score. The wound looked burned, as if he'd tried to cauterise it with fire - but he hadn't done a very good job. Crimson liquid squirted from the wound haphazardly - his life-blood draining. It had been worse an hour ago - the blood had poured from the wound like a neon arc across the sky. His skin was pale, clammy, cold with sweat and bloodloss. His massive body, usually burning with power, could now barely drag it's sorry weight towards the doors.

He'd been defeated. Again. He had challanged Maximos, not by honour, but by personal reasons - he'd called him a coward for not fighting, for not doing what came natural to him.

And Maximos had cleaved his left arm off as simply as a man would slice a loaf of bread.

But it hadn't been Maximos. It had been something else. Something that John had never seen before, something...eternal.

And, be it lack of blood, be it the sudden and sharp realisation that he had no place acting towards Maximos like he had, forcing his ways upon him, be it the fact that he had been defeated so utterly - John Tomorrow was scared.

Scared of death.

He'd looked it in the face many times before, had even died - but he'd never actually seen what death looked like. And it frightened him.

"...Am...ber..." He groaned, pulling himself forward once more, the trail of blood and dirt on the grass leading behind him growing larger. He needed to see her. If he died now, if he expired before seeing her, her and his children...

It was the only thing that was keeping him going.

Unstable Dark
Dark turns his head towards the estate again, the sounds of familiar voices as he slowly turns and walks towards the manor once more. "Do forgive me, I must go and see who else has come..." He muttered over his shoulder and waving, wandering through the halls as he looks about.

"I swear I've heard that voice before..." He thought to himself as he walked quickly through the halls, curious if the man that had called him a demon would follow behind. Shrugging it off he looked about, checking a few rooms and looked about curiously.

"Hmmm I wonder if Lady Sierra is here..." He thought out loud. He had a bad habit of doing it as he looked about, yawniing slightly as he adjusted the headband over his eye, brushing his hair out of the one he had left that. He also pondered the other voices he kept hearing. Of course he didn't think his hearing was so good, but strangely he could hear the echoes, but not understand them.

*the strangers words strike a nerve, as he turns arounds and walks off waving over his shoulder kiado mutters under his breath*

"i lost my humanity along time ago, i dont know wat i am anymore"

*he listens and hears more voices, decides to follow the stranger staying in the shadows*

He slowly walked down the halls, stopping for a second and looking back over his shoulder into the darkness behind him. "Hmmm..." He muttered something to himself as he continued onward, admiring the hallways decore.

"You know the shadows speak to me... they tell me of your lurking, of using them to hide in." He whispered as he turned about once more. His voice soft, each word rolling from his lips almost as if he were purring.

His eyes searched the darkness of the hallway, standing still, tilting his head to the side as his lips twisted into a knowing smile. It was eerie to behold yet strangely alluring at the same time. His gaze only helped him as his eye never seemed to focus, almost as if blurred and sightless.

Sunstrike sat on the bed and tried not to look too cold as he listened and watched. He blinked in surprise when Shin spoke of Vahn and grinned distractedly.

"Just because there's no distress, doesn't mean he's not gotten wasted..."

It was like a fly...buzzing in his ear, only worse, more persistant.

"How long will it take to speak to someone? Maybe it would be best to wait until we have Vahn to complete any gaps I have?" Very persistant, and female...Tijae? Probably, that girl was born trouble, a fact which wasn't lost on Sun, but something he'd assumed she'd grown out of.

((Sorry Rave, I'm holding off on posting 'til I get Nik caught up in the plotline. Ed's ready for the DSG, I just don't wan't to be posting in the present with you and he, while Sun's in the past >_O;; I'm not avoiding posting for you though lovey <333

Everyone else, I will get to your posts as well, just trying to get some plots tied up for simplicity's sake >____< ))

Shin stripped and changed into a pair of lace-up, black leather pants. Tied a black silk wrap, threaded with green elvish patterning about his waist and slipped on a white peasant's top.

Pulling on black knee high boots that hugged his calves, he sits down on the end of the bed and pulls Sun into a hug. More companionable than intimate, noting the tension in the other man's body.

Resting his chin atop his friend's head he ponders.

"Well... the request for an audience with Lady Reiyvian has been submitted. She's taken on most of Sierra's responsibilities in the Princess' absence... so it could be a couple days. But Roiysin ordered rest for you anyway..."

Sunstrike gently patted Shin on the chest and then straightened up.

"I'm gonna need to borrow some less formal clothes, Shin, then I'm going to ask you, and Aiysin, a favour your not going to like."

Routine check-up, it'd be fine, no harm no foul, and then Sun could get on with himself. Maybe even break off the ties if she was happy as she was.
He couldn't drag her into the fires after all.

"There's someone I need to just, see if I can visit for a little bit, nothing too complicated, and then I can come back with a clean slate. If I don't, it'll be worse then distracting..." He looked at the elf seriously, trying to convey the need that Sun had for the assurance this would give.

Shin looked at Sunstrike gravely and weighed the look the other man was giving him. He knew how badly worry could impair one's functions.

"I don't know Sun..."

He sighed and rubbed his forehead.

"You see... I can take over your guard here at the Dark Sakura, but when it comes to decisions about letting you leave, it's out of my hands. Aiysin's too. She'll automatically say no, not because she necessarily wants to, but because her ranking officer that ordered her to bring you here to begin with... isn't here to ask."

Shin cupped Sun's cheek tenderly as looked into the Salamander's eyes with thoughtful expression.

"Who is it? ... This person you need to see so badly?"

Sunstrike smiled softly, giving away nothing in his expression.

"Why can no one take anything for granted these days, eh? She's a close friend with a good talent for getting into trouble. Sometimes alarm bells ring, that's all." He stood and managed to keep both feet. The grin slowly faded as he looked sideways at Shin.

"There's always the nonvoluntary option, Shin. I'm subject to your rules while here...but that's keeping in mind that I could leave if I wanted to."

"I--- I'll go with you Sun..."

Shin knew how much s**t he was bringing down on both their heads by agreeing to this. But if this was the only way... then he wasn't going to let Sun go it alone.

Sun leaned down staring into those honest green eyes. It made his heart break a little that someone like this, was so infatuated with someone like himself.

"No, you won't."

A hand flicked through the black hair and rested on the elf's shoulder lightly.

"Trust me, s'nothing you wanna get yourself wrapped around, Shin. And I don't want either you or Aiysin to get into trouble for this, you all have your own problems without the added distraction of mine." He grinned fatalistically.

"Sides, I think I'd need a bigger organization then Dark Sakura to actually sort out all MY issues. You got enough with Vahn and Sierra."
PostPosted: Mon May 14, 2007 9:54 am

Shin stood, putting his one inch of height more, over Sunstrike to use, 'causing Sun to look up now instead of down. Cupping his chin gently the elf pressed a chaste kiss to the other man's lips, running delicate yet strong fingers through the red locks of hair as he drew back to study the other man's face.

"You don't understand Sun... if you leave we're in trouble anyway. We let you leave unprotected... that's even worse."

He looked solem, older. The weight of his emerald eyes betraying a hint of his true age.

"I don't need to get tangled or whatever...

Just make sure that your problems done try and kill you while you... uh... deal."

The grin widened even as Shin stood and looked down at him.

"But those are the most exciting kind!" He blinked a bit. "Sides, s'not up to other people whether I stay protected or not." Sun's eyes took on a stubborn tint as he pulled away to have a poke through Shin's wardrobe.

"I do my own protecting and judge what happens from there, s'no use getting anyone else involved, because that means," He paused in his search as if looking for alternate words to use.

"Well it means that they might get hurt, and I couldn't live with that. Cept Vahn, but only cause we never stick around each other enough to hurt one another."
PostPosted: Mon May 14, 2007 11:38 am

"You can't force someone to protect you... But you can't force them not either."

Shin's eyes matched Sun's stubborn stare and as the redhead poked through his clothes he couldn't help but grin.

"S'mostly soft leathers and silks, The pants should fit fine if you roll the cuffs once. I hear that the seamstress was in the process of whipping you up some more practical 'play' clothes too..."

Sunstrike waved his hands dismissively as he yanked on a tank top.

"Then you shouldn't get into trouble for a volunteer job." Came the smart remark.

When he was ready he turned and then started to limp past the elf. But he paused shoulder to shoulder with Shin.

"I like my burdens to be my own, Shin." And he started to walk to the door. "Aiysin can open the gate, and I'll do what I need to do from there. No one needs to be involved because that's the way I'd like it. When I come back, if any punishment falls on the two of you, I'll accept in your place. And that, is final."
