Aniane pointed behind the stairs. "It looks like the owner used to sleep there. Try that room."

He was turning towards the door when she expressed her dislike for red meat. "We'll do what we can," he promised gruffly. In his opinion they'd be lucky if they caught any thing. The trees here grew together thickly so it was hard to see plants and to run after animals. He wasn't exactly a top notch hunter himself.

"I'll see what I can teach you, but it's mostly trapping that I have any handle on. I think I must make too much noise in the woods and frighten the animals away... Although I can point out some edible plants if I see any."

~She silently nodded and headed back to the room the Aniane had pointed out, closing the door behind her. She had tried to look for a lock, but couldn't find one, so she propped a chair against the door so she wouldn't be disturbed. Making the bed up as best she could with what was available, she removed her eyepatch, tumbled into the sheets, and fell into a deep sleep.~

Still a bit embarrassed from her boast, Spyse offered what little help she thought she could.

If it could help, I could try to sneak up on the prey, I'm pretty good about keeping quiet.....

She ddin't like to offer her race without someone asked, she felt like it was bragging somehow, though she hoped her ears and tail would give it away.

I'm also a pretty good climber, I could tell you where the prey is maybe?

Shrugging, Spyse headed towards the door and held it open for Aniane. She brushed her hair out of her face with her left hand and paused to scratch behind her ear before dropping her thumb back into her pocket to let her arm hang at an odd angle. She absently made a note of the woman going into the room. I forgot to ask her name....

Aniane averted his gaze to the fire. "I'm afraid I'm more adept at finding the right plants than fatally wounding animals. I can trap them with a ring of fire if that would help you, but it's dangerous to the rest of the forest. I don't have any weapons that hit at a distance...only a knife and two traps I can set."

WIth a more determined look he turned back to her. "I will follow you and stay back in case you need help. Otherwise I will only be in the way."

Shrugging and a bit embarrassed, Spyse nodded and smiled meekly.

Alright, but I won't be able to communicate with you when I hunt like this. We'll have to rely on body language so you can understand me.

With a quick flash of a toothy grin, Spyse's clothes seemed to turn a shade of royal blue that matched her hair, ears and tail, as she crouched down. Aniane would then be looking into the face of a larger than average leopard. Huffing a bit in an effort to stay "Let's go" the leopard started off for the forest, her tail swaying gently to show she meant no harm.

(I went to animazement and moved and my internet hates me!)

Aniane held his breath. He'd never heard of this type of magic, and his only warning had been the anthrophomorphic shape she had already been in when they met. Boy was he glad that SHE was hunting. She had to be fourhundred times better at it than he was. "Just don't run too fast," he said a bit nervously. He had no idea if changing to that form changed her behavoir or thinking.

He followed her into the forest, doing his best to keep up and not stumbled all over the brush. He checked to make sure his knife was in his belt. It was mostly for self defense, but he had used it for other things before. This type of hunting trip just had to be a once in a life time thing!

Happy when Aniane understood and followed, she hoped she'd introduced him to her culture in a proper way. There just hadn't been enough written about werecreature ettiquette. Walking swiftly, but silently, the leopard smiled inside at how well Aniane was able to keep quiet. That should help when I spot something, at least he won't frighten it awayif he can't help catch it. Her thoughts were interrupted though as she stopped in midstep and sniffed at the air. It was an animal, fairly large, though she didn't know what type because the scent was unfamiliar to her. Probably something we don't have back home. Turning her head to the left, she sniffed again, looked back at her companion, and knelt low to the ground hoping her behavior would inform him that there was something nearby. Turning her head back in the direction she'd just been facing, she quietly stalked towards an open field. Stopping several yards away behind some bushes, Spyse tried to make out what kind of creature it was. It was tall and stood on four hooves like the antelope she knew from home, but this was slightly different in appearance. The antlers grew up and branched unlike the antelope who's antlers grew back to make them more aerodynamic. Still crouched, she turned her head towards Aniane again to somehow convey that she needed to know if it was alright to eat this creature.

Aniane was somewhat lost in this particular adventure. He could see her getting excited, tensing, and moving more carefully. He knew he could not be as careful running so he followed slowly, at a crouch. He had his knife at ready but doubted that such an animal would need his help doing the one thing it was designed to do.

He watched from a distance as she approached the buck. She looked back at him for confirmation or to see if he was ready. It was a big animal but Aniane was sure that whatever the three of them couldn't eat could be salted from his supplies.

Aniane had a determined look on his face and nodded.

Turning back to the creature now that she had confirmation to kill it, Spyse stalked a bit closer to the edge of the field and stopped to ready herself. Crouching even lower, just inches above the ground, her forearms tensed and her hind legs riased every so slightly, swaying from side to side melodically and suddenly pushed off the ground and shot her body forward towards the prey.

The buck's ears turned towards the leopard's area right as it shot into the field. Tensing itself, the buck tried to run away from the royal blue creature to the left, but wasn't able to get the grip it needed to dart off like it wanted and it ended up slipping and losing half a millisecond which was more than enough to be caught.

Spyse however was getting the grip she needed by extending her claws as they hit the ground, but had to reroute her attack, which caused her to lose precious time, but not enough to not be able to make up for it. Digging her claws in more, she managed to catch up to the back of the buck, and jumped in for the kill, dragging the thing down with her claws buried deep in it's hide.

The buck thought for a moment that it was going to get away as it reached the other side of the clearing, but was suddenly taken down and in deep pain from the leopard's claws. Instinct for survival kicking in, it began to kick and thrust it's antlers about wildly.

Crawling up the buck so that it couldn't get away, Spyse was spared the kicks from the powerful legs, but as she made it up to his shoulder, was stabbed in her left forearm with an antler. Growling in pain, she ducked her head out of the way of another attack taking another stab to the arm, but was able to latch her teeth onto the creature's neck. Growling still as the creature tried desperately to fight back again, she never let go as the kicking subsided and the animal quieted. Making sure to snap the neck as well, she finally let go and began cleaning both her's and the buck's blood off of her, choosing to remain in her leopard form as it might have looked even more disturbing to see a humanoid creature licking blood off their face.

Aniane watched in amazement. It was one thing to watch an animal hunt in the wild, and quite another to know the intelligence behind this particular animal... and that he could go up to it without expecting to be killed.

Of course there was nothing for him to do until the buck was dead. He had crept closer once the buck started running, and was just catching up now. As soon as he arrived he stood a couple of feet from the two creatures and set his backpack down. He took first a rope and strung it by its feet to a tree; this took a bit of struggle because of his small size, but he didn't seem daunted by that. Then he slit its throat and cut a line from its neck up. Blood started dripping on the ground from the buck.

"Now we must leave it here to drain. Do you want some now...in that form? I could cut some off for you."

Having mostly cleaned herself while Aniane prepared the buck for drainage, Spyse changed back into her neko form and shook her head no at the question. I've found that most people find it distuebing to see me eat and attack in that mode when I can look like a human later. Though she tried she hadn't gotten all of the blood off of her face and a quarter sized spot still remained on her right cheek. Spyse seemed cold and distant at the moment, but that was because she'd just killed, as time went on she would seem more like she had before. Staring over at the creature scocked her head to the side and asked So what are we eating tonight? We don't have these where I'm from.

(my mule)

"I have nuts and rabbit meat," he informed her thoughtfully. Then he tried wiping her face off with we peice of cloth he pulled out of his back pocket. "Don't worry about supper, you look tired." He rubbed vigorously at her cheek. "You can tell me about your travels while I prepare dinner."

Shocked by this sudden display of concern, Spyse just stood there wide eyed as Aniane cleaned off her cheek for her. Uh.... Thanks.... Would you like me to carry the..... antelope thing back or should we leave it here? I don't want anyone else taking my kill. No one had really asked her where she'd come from or why, though had asked when she was going back. Things were just too difficult for her to explain properly to people who thought she was either going to eat them or take their soul. She hadn't felt until he said it, but suddenly she was very tired, to the point where her shoulders drooped just a bit. Maybe a rest would be ideal. She flashed a toothy grin at Aniane hoping the teeth wouldn't make him worry.

"If we carry it, we should both carry it," he suggested. He didn't want to make her turn into another form if she was tired, but he wasn't sure he wanted to do it all himself, either. He was well rested, though, and wanted to help. "I meant for it to stay here but you may be right. I can try to set a trap but if it doesn't work we lose our meal, and if it does work the forest may catch on fire."

He put his hands on his hips and looked up at the the draining deer. Normally he would have just camped here but the inn might be safer.

Spyse also looked up and tried to figure out what to do, placing her clamped hands behind her head, she sighed and bit her bottom lip. Well.... we could try to put it higher, but if the next predator is like me, they'll be able to get it. And if we take it back, the blood will leave a trail that will attract other animals. Though in my opinion most of the animals will probably not be intelligent enough to get inside the inn, and those that are, I don't see why they wouldn't have some reasoning skills and be able to "ask" if they could have some. Her tail swished back and forth irractically as she contemplated what to do. Getting more and more tired as they stood there looking up, Spyse yawned, her ears going back and her eyes squinting shut. She could've easily carried it on her own in the form she was in, but wouldn't turn down his help since he'd offered. Mother always said stroke and male's ego, not strike.... Until now, backing down in order ot make a man feel better had been a necessity to getting a mate, but now that she was gone, she did it when she felt the man deserved it, rather than when she wanted to give him a chance to impress her.
