Hey my band director was nice enough to buy the entire trumpet section harmond mutes. Though I think we have to pay for them, I just plan on giving it back to him when spring concert is over as I'm going to an art college this fall that sadly has no music program (though if it did I would enter it, but my love for art beats my love for music). So luckily I didn't have to buy one.

This'll sound corny, but Musicals have really good music, especially for trumpets. Maybe you should pick something from a musical, like Newsies. Umm....just a suggestion...

Rei-Chal hey everyone! i need some ideas for cool pieces of music. (it's the trumpets turn to pick the music) Usually marches or jazzy kind of stuff is really fun to do on trumpet. If you're doing kind of a concert style you can always do Rimsky-Korsakov's "Procession of the Nobles." Its difficult to do but worth it. Stamp's "Gavorkna fanfare" is pretty cool too (what I'm listening to now actually) its pretty fun, and has some neat percussion parts so that will make them happy. Eric Whitacre's "October" is beautiful; it doesn't feature trumpets that much, but its a good piece anyway. You have to have a really strong woodwind section to do it though.

Recently my trumpet has been hating me. Like first I forgot my mouthpiece and then I lost my third valve slide. Hopefully it'll start to like me now.

I just gave my trumpet a COMPLETE, uber-wash. I gave it a nice bath.
Usually when I run the snake through it, I get dissapointed when nothing gross comes out but there was NO dissapointment this time 'round. biggrin
