Sumner had remembered hearing about some creepy carousel or something that had been re-built. Did this thing have anything to do with it? Perhaps that was what the horses were from, but at any point, they were stuck in this weird place with all of these flames. As though the re-building of the old one had angered those who had perished. He wouldn't be surprised. If there were monsters in this world, then shadow spirits and spirits of those who had perished wouldn't be implausible.

But that wasn't what he should be thinking about now, the time for reflection would need to be later.

He thought about jumping in the chasm, but with the way all of the fire and lava was coming from the dragon, it wouldn't have been a good idea. And they were on some sort of spinning platform, as though they were inside of the carousel itself. Did that mean that the rest of it was on the outside?

It didn't matter, he decided to throw some more rocks into the chasm like the one he had leaned against and that had fallen, and could tell that something was happening but didn't know what.

Transcendent Sailor Ida

Ida watched with wide eyes as the dragon loomed above them. Bigger than the city itself, it seemed, and cloaked in flames. The heat was intense… beating down on them almost physically. Her heart was beating so hard… She very nearly dropped the young Mauvian she held when the little one suddenly hissed and let out a cat-beam straight at the ground.

“Woah! Hey!” She gasped as she fumbled, getting her arms around the cat again. The ground the beam had hit was shaking beneath them, trembling in a way that made her breath catch in a flutter of fear. It took her a moment to grasp what the Mauvian had been doing, the dragon was too obviously far away for an attack like that.

“Yes! The ground!” Ida said excitedly as she lifted the now-limp cat, setting the poor, brave little thing on her shoulders. “You’ve got the right idea, Little Friend. You okay up there? I need my hands free…”

Her voice grew distracted as she knelt on one knee, sweeping an arm up before her.

“Heavenly Orchid Arrows!” Ida called out, her voice clear. Glowing petals trailed her hand, forming the bow she grabbed up. An arrow of light appeared in the string and she drew it back, releasing to send it roaring across the debris-covered ground towards the dragon. It fell short, but just like the Mauvian, she hadn’t been aiming for the dragon itself. The arrow smacked into the ground, exploding and sending a sharp tremor spreading outwards.

“Hold on tight okay?” Ida said to the furry shape on her shoulder, one hand pressing to her side to steady her. “We might need to move quickly.”

Chihaya

Chihaya throws a small rock at the ground... it's not very effective. Chihaya gave a soft hum as she was starting to lose interest in this strange phenomenon.
