Turning his attention fully on the boy who'd approached him, Uhroa looked upon him with further interest. The kids seemed shy, which to Uhroa meant he was easily intimidated, perhaps easy to control as well. After all, when someone is shy it means they're not used to taking charge. Keeping his friendly smile going, Uhroa gave a nod to his new chatting partner. Seemed he hadn't known that his Poochyena would evolve into. Understandable if he's not entirely privy to Pokemon outside whatever region he'd originally come from. Looks wouldn't determine what region he was from, though the large Pokemon he had behind him resembled something he'd seen several times in advertisements around Unova. "Yea, My brother trains dark-types. His ace is his Mightyena." Uhroa replied. "I think the name suits him as well." Giving this kid a boost in confidence was all apart of this plan Uhroa was steadily hatching.
It was then the attention was drawn over to Uhroa's own Pokemon. His one and only Pokemon companion was curled into a nice circle. A hearty meal had made it's already lax nature more prevalent. With a light sigh Uhroa replied, "That is Pivot, he's a Snivy. Pivot is my first Pokemon." Uhroa mentioned. "He was a gift from my father on my 10th birthday. We've been together for 2 years now." Oversharing was one way for the kid to reveal a bit more about himself.
Ryou felt more at ease as the conversation went on. He had been worried the boy would think he was boring or walk away. See, you were worried for nothing, he thought to Kai placing a hand on the Fraxure's head again. (Of course, Kai couldn't hear him, he wasn't a Psychic type; but he hoped the dragon understood from the hand on his head) He listened as the boy talked about his brother saying he trains dark types. "Only dark types? Like he specializes?" he asked with a bit of admiration. Mono training was supposed to be hard after all. He knew the dragon tamers had to be wary of ice and fairy types and work hard to make sure their team didn't have any holes they could be taken out by. "That must be hard, having only one type on your team" Noctis looked from one of the boys to the other hoping one of them would start petting them again. "A snivy.." Ryou took out his pokedex and looked up the little creature.
It is very intelligent and calm. Being exposed to lots of sunlight makes its movements swifter. Huh..cool. "He's really cool looking" he commented. "Kai back here is my oldest pokemon" Ryou said with a smile petting the Fraxure again when the green haired boy shared he had been with Pivot for two yeas. ( and oh so he was twelve...two yeas older than Ryou. He wasn't sure if that made him less daunting or more) "He's been with me since mom got him from Unova about two years ago. He technically wasn't mine but hung out in the dragon's den so much when I left he wanted to come. Noctis here I caught back in Oldale town. He doesn't really like to battle much. " he looked down at the pokeballs in his belt, considering taking them out so his new (acquaintance? Friend..ly person?) but found himself debating...there were five of them. And what if the boy didn't want to see them? "Are you taking the league challenge too?" he asked

It appeared his friendly and open demenor was helping this kid open up a bit more himself. Perfect. Uhroa nodded when he asked if training dark-types was his specialty. "I think Hyungnim also has some ghosts on his team, but yea. He mostly focuses on dark-types." Though Uhroa held a confident smile across his face. "It's hard to beat my brother even if he gets matched up with fighting-type or Bug-type users. " Truth be told, Uhroa hadn't actually seen his brother battle before, so he wouldn't actually be privy to his brother's win vs loss ratio. He just knew his team was strong, so... he was always winning right?
Either way, the conversation flowed over to Uhroa's and even the boy's own Pokemon. he mentioned the Fraxure had come from Unova, which was what Uhroa suspected... but what was this 'dragon den' place? He then explained he'd only recently caught the Poochyena back in Oldale Were the rest of his Pokemon only recently caught as well? Either way back to figuring out what region this kid was from. "Dragon Den? Where is that?" Uhroa asked, before giving a nod to the boys next question. "Yea, I am. I'm suppose to be on vacation here, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to challenge some gyms while I'm at it.. After all I am legally able to in this region." Uhroa stated. Back in Unova one had to be at minimum 15, why Unova was so strict on their age allowance was beyond Uhroa. Then again someone could of just lied to him about it to keep him from traveling not that it did much good now that he was in a completely different region. "Are you as well?" Uhroa inquired.
"Sounds like a good team" Ryou said, getting more into the conversation more as they talked about pokemon and battling. It was something he felt bit more in his depth about. A dark types only team sounded hard to maintain for him...what if someone with a fighting type battled you? But then Uhroa's brother ( Hyungnim ) sounded like he knew what he was doing...and he was probably older than them. He also sounded really cool. Ryou knew however that he wouldn't have a team like that. The entire reason he wanted to go on this journey was to see pokemon outside of his family's specialization. "Oh the Dragon Den's in Blackthorn city" he said when Urhroa asked about it "It's...it's where I grew up." He nodded when the other boy asked if he was going on a journey too smiling as he was informed, he apparently wasn't alone in that. "Yeah" he said smiling more fully now "I wanted to see everything that was out here...the whole world and...I wanted to win badges like the trainers that come to Blackthorn." He paused for a bit considering his next words. "Would you.." he stuttered for a bit trying to fight the shyness that was coming back with a vengenace ( he was always shy around kids his age) "would you maybe want to go to the gym together?" he asked "since...since we're both heading that way" he looked down immediately after asking not really used to being this forward and wondering where that had come from.

Even if Uhroa wasn't aware of exactly how strong his brother and his Pokemon were, he still adamantly stood in his brother's corner so boasting about him was something Uhroa always felt the need to do. Still there wasn't much else to say without actual proof so the talk of his brother's team ended there. "Blackthorn city?" It took Uhroa a moment to rack his brain. "Oh, Johto!" he exclaimed. So this kid came from that region? Sounded as much when he mentioned having grown up there. "I'm from Unova myself." Uhroa added. Now that they'd established where the other had come from, Uhroa thought more on how he could use this information. Blackthorn City was pretty famous for raising Dragon-types, but so was Opelucid from Unova. Uhroa had a very mild interest in Dragon-types. Sure they were strong and often cool looking, he was sure that eventually he might have one or two on his team in time. Having a single type team like his brother was surprisingly not something he wanted.
Tugged from these thoughts and the topic of gym battles at hand, Uhroa replied to his shy-acting company. "Sure, why not?" Uhroa replied. "My name is Uhroa by the way." Introducing himself he pushed himself from his seat. Done with his breakfast and Pivot done with his the boy moved over to a nearby tray return to dump the trash left on his tray and return the tray itself. "I'd like to do a bit more training here before heading towards the Petalburg woods if you don't mind?" Gazing back towards his company Uhroa took a good look this time over the Pokemon he had available. If anything troublesome were to happen, it would be nice to know how strong this kids Pokemon were as well.
Upon hearing that he had a new traveling companion Ryou smiled his excitement shining through his otherwise usually reserved demeanor. "Oh okay yeah..that..that's great!" he said finally. The boy gave his name ( Uhroa ) Ryou realized that he hadn't given his own. "Oh right. My name is Ryou Yagami. Nice to meet you" he said adding a bow after he had turned around to face his new companion. Continuing to walk backwards as he was, Ryou didn't notice upon exciting the building that he was about to run into someone...until he did "Ooof! I'm sorry I-" "Well look at this. What's a shrimp like you even doing in a pokemon center" Ryou shrugged and glared (or tried to, he really wasn't good at them) up at the older trainer. "Oughta watch where you're goin kid" "I said I was sorry" Ryou muttered looking down and stuffing his hands in his pockets- Noctis whined and hid behind him while Kai tensed beside him growling softly. "Well how bout you compensate me" the teenager said a glint to his eyes. Ryou's reflexes kicked in just in time for him to leap back bumping into Noctis and almost falling as the teenager swiped for his bag "Hey don't!" the boy said as the teenager tried to take his stuff again "Here's the thing, you and your friend give me half your s**t or battle me kid" What I... Ryou looked back at his travel companion then at Kai before making his decicion. "O..okay fine" he said since he didn't see any way out of this ( or out of the center for that matter) "Fine....you jerk, I'll battle you."

Ryou licked his lips nervously wondering if battling the older trainer had been a good choice Not like he had been given a choice. Why was the trainer even here-had he been waiting for someone smaller to come out so he could try to take their things? No one ever mentioned this part of journeys. the boy thought as the trainer sent out his first pokemon "A'right Grimer lets show these kidlets how the big kids fight" "What...a grimer" the boy said itching to take out his pokedex. He had heard about them with them being native to both Kanto and Jotho. But he hadn't seen one in battle before. "Okay..okay...Noctis-" the boy said looking back only to see the Poochyena whine and hide behind Uroha. "...okay Tsuki" he said taking out his official starter's pokeball and releasing the torchic in a beam of red light. "Pfft whats that little chicken even gonna do kid" the teen taunted earning a glare from Tsuki. Well...probably try to kick your head in now, the boy thought looking at his infuriated fire pokemon. "Tsuki he wont let us leave unless we battle. Make sure we beat him okay?" he told his starter who nodded and jumped in front of his trainer.

"Okay kid don't say I didn't give you a chance to get away" Ryou rolled his eyes. Yeah some chance, handing over all our stuff when we're on a journey with literally no one but ourselves. The teen smirked and Ryou kept his poker face though he felt his confidence start to crumble. This was an older trainer...what if he. "Poison gas Grimer" "Tsuki dodge it!" Status ailments he knew could end your pokemon if you weren't careful. Unfortunately, the attack landed making Ryou wince in sympathy as his torchic was Ryou fisted his hands as he saw his starter start to hack in the gas of poison the Grimer aimed at him. This wasn't....it wasn't.... Another cough from Tsuki brought him out of the mounting panic Ryou took out his pokedex eyes widening when he noted the new attack Tsuki now had. When had he learned that? "Tsu..Tsuki" he said getting his voice under control "U..use Flame Charge" To his merit the little torchic stood up on shaky legs with an expression that was determination give physical form. (It made something in Ryou losen, made him let out a breath he didn't even realize he was holding.) even poisoned the chicken Pokémon was willing to fight and fiercely at that. With a cry the torchic ran at the Grimer becoming engulfed in fire as he did so (in some remote part of his mind where he wasn't still seeing his starter hack up poison Ryou would note that it was kind of.... really cool looking) The fire engulfed blur that had become Tsuki connected with the grimer with a solid 'thunk' sending the pokemon back as the fire faded and Tsuki stood there panting. At the other end the grimer was knocked out. "Okay kid lets see you handle this" Ryou for his part took no time in returning Tsuki back "but...but I have to-" "Ghastly! Get that small fry!" Ryou had been halfway to saying that he needed to go back to the pokecenter-that he needed to go back to pokecenter now and so didn't notice that the ghost pokemon was heading straight for him unil Kai jumped in front of him with a roar. He..he wont let me go..the boy thought holding the torchics pokeball tight. Not unless I beat him. "Kai...let's beat him."

Ryou watched as the Lick attack the Ghastly had most likely been planning to use on him connected with Kai instead ew poor Kai, though he couldnt help but wince again when he noted that the attack did damage. "Kai! Are...are you alright?" he called out. He didn't want his older friend to get hurt...to get hurt like his starter had. The dragon gave a grunt though accompained with a nod and Ryou felt some relief. "O..okay use Dragon Rage!" he said. He wanted to finish this fast! Tsuki was hurt.

Staring the annoying ghost type with a snarl Kai dug deep and started on his Dragon Rage attack. The dragon type had orders from Ryou, but more than that, he had orders from Ryous family. He had promised that he would protect the boy on this journey. ( And it hadn't been hard for him to get attached to the little human. Ryou had been so kind to him...and Kai had known almost instantly the human was young...to young to be alone really) So with the taller human threatening him of course he would fight. He gathered the power in his maw before sending it blasting at the ghost pokemon.
Noctis meanwhile whimpered hiding behind Uhroa as he stared at Kai fight. The little pokemon wasn't anywhere near as brave as his team mates and he knew that. He cared about his trainer of course he did. Ryou had been the most kind a human had been to the poochyen in a while but still he had frozen when that very human had asked him to fight ( and Ryou handt even gotten mad. He had just sent Tsuki instead...and now Tsuki was poisoned because of that...because of him) The poochyena stared at the Dragon type as it gave a roar and sent out that attack and wondered if he'd ever be as strong as that ( or as brave as that)
"You poisoned my pokemon you have to-" Ryou couldn't help but say. He knew from traveling trainers that poison kept on hurting the pokemon until taken to a pokemon center. "Ghastly use hypnosis. Shut the brat up"the teen said

Ryou's eyes widened when he saw Kai hit the ground ( sleeping thankfully and not for any other reason) the dragon type was his strongest pokemon. If the ghastly had put him to sleep then he couldn't...then... Tsuki's pokeball shook in his hand and he took a breath taking out Kais pokeball he returned the dragon pokemon and sent out another. "Mihiro use water gun" he said The wingull came out with a cry, unsure of why they were battling but obeying none the less. It flew at the ghastly and after receiving a lick to the face managed to land a water gun attack. Ryou let out a breath when the Ghastly fainted. Can I go now? The teenage trainer seemed to actually lose his cool-something that hadn't happened all of the battle. It brought Ryou little comfort as Tsukis pokeball continued to shake in his hand. "Lets go Ekans!" "Mihiro quick attack!" Ryou called out somewhat proud that his voice had stopped shaking. It was a priority move he knew and that meant it would hopefully finish things His thoughts were proven correct when the snake Pokémon fainted on impact. Ryou wasted no time in recalling Mihiro and running back into the Pokémon center, ignoring the teenager's cry of 'get back here!' as the door swong closed behind him. Noctis for his part came out from behind Uhroa and growled at the teenager. Now that the other human had his entire team wiped out the Poochyena felt less afraid of it, and in the place of fear came the anger that the human had threatened his team.
Inside the pokemon center Ryou let out his starter at the counter, his panic increasing when he saw how worse off the small pokemon was since being recalled. The torchic was shaking and only managed to keep to his feet for the briefest moment. "Please...please help him" the boy said biting his lip at the sight of his starter. The nurse wasted no time in taking the torchic away and then Ryou had nothing to do but wait. Shakily the boy found himself flopping down on the nearest chair as the events really processed. That had been...that had been scary. He hadn't had his pokemon hurt this bad before ( though he had seen it in gym battles and oh god if this was what a random battle could do what would a gym battle be like) he hadn't run into a person who would want to hurt him before and it had been... Ryou brought his knees up and put his arms around them laying his down on his arms trying to keep from crying. He wanted Kai but the pokemon was asleep still in his pokeball (and oh he should probably...do something about that) and waited for the nurse Joy to tell him about his starter. Team:

Having a new traveling companion, the duo started for outside to do a bit of training before heading off towards the Petalburg woods. However, in his excitement, Ryou was walking backwards and ended up running into an older looking male, perhaps somewhere in his mid to later teens. Instantly the older male spoke outwards like a typical bully. Uhroa was not unfamiliar with his type. Crossing his arms over his chest, he was set to simply walk past the imbecile but then he demanded 'making it up' to him. 'So it's that type of idiot.' Uhroa thought looking away with an sigh. He then demanded for both Ryou and his items which drew Uhroa's gaze back towards the older male. Doing his best to control his expression he glanced over to Ryou who'd agreed to battle the male.
The battle was relatively quick, despite the older males attitude. Even still, he did manage to utilize the use of Poison and Hypnosis to his advantage. Hypnosis being one this, Poison was far more concerning. It seemed Ryou was right to be concerned as he quickly withdrew to seek Nurse Joys assistance in curing his Poisoned starter. The older teen, having not been humiliated enough quickly pursued Ryou, but was blocked by Uhroa and Ryou's Poochyena, who'd been hiding behind him for the whole of the battle. "I think you should retreat for now." Uhroa voiced. He was met with a glare as the teen took a step back. "I wont forget this!" The punk grumbled, retreating into the busy streets of Petalburg. Uhroa let another sigh out before looking down at the Poochyena at his side. "Your master is waiting." Turning on his heel, Uhroa returned to the Pokemon Center himself and quickly located Ryou waiting nearby the ER. "Poison is a common ailment, we should keep a look out for Pecha Berries and Antidotes." Uhroa voiced as soon as he came to Ryou's front. Crossing his arms again, the male turned his gaze to the ER doors. "Which is another reason I wanted to hang out here before going headfirst into Petalburg woods. I hear woods and forests are teaming with bug-types who commonly have the ability to use poison." It wasn't until after saying that, Uhroa came to a sudden realization... He didn't have any money. He'd thought of buying some antidotes but now that he realized his brother had left him without cash they'd literally have to 'look out' for them... Like people randomly dropped antidotes willy nilly? Then another thought crossed his mind... that punk from earlier, that wasn't his first time asking for compensation for something trivial... could he have a stash of useful items himself? It was then a sinister thought crossed Uhroa's mind.
Ryou hadn't look up even as Uhroa talked, his head was still buried in his arms with his knees pulled up to his chest. He was scared, scared that Tsuki wouldn't be okay, scared about the fact that apparently there were people who would want to hurt him (the concept was new to the child, as the dragon clan had kept him protected and sheltered for all of his life) He listened as the other boy mentioned that poison was a common ailment ...right that he..he had sort of known that? (he had heard of poisoning in battles but hadn't realized just how bad it could be) and that they should keep an eye out for Pecha berries and antidotes. (oh right...he should have done that) He took a shaky breath and finally raised his head, rubbing at his eye and hoping that Uhroa wouldn't see the tears he was discreetly wiping away. "Oh yeah...yeah staying seems like a good-Oh Noctis" The puppy pokemon had jumped into his lap and started licking his face. getting a small shaky laugh out of the boy. Ryou pet the Poochyena before looking back up at Uhroa "yeah berries and antidotes I'm-" He should have thought of it. Should have thought of bringing more than potions "I'm not sure where we can find them" he said holding Noctis closer. He frowned when Uhroa said that the woods were filled with bugs and poison types...that. The image of Tsuki hacking up poison went through his mind. He shuddered. "We definetely need to be ready for that" he said just as a nurse Joy came out calling his name. Still holding Noctis, Ryou ran to the nurse unable to hide his apprehension for what she might tell him. "Is...is Tsuki okay?" he said looking up at the adult. "Your Torchic took a lot of damage from poison but she should be alright. She's resting right now but you can take her back shortly" Ryou chewed on his lip before apparently rememebering something. "Oh my other pokemon were hurt too, can you take them?" he said taking out his other pokeballs and handing them to the nurse. Once the nurse had taken the pokeballs, Ryou turned back to Uhroa, still holding Noctis in his arms ( there was something comforting about it) "So uh....do you wanna stay at the poke-center or train?" Ryou honestly needed a break from battles right now but he knew Uhroa wanted to challenge the league and hadn't trained yet so if his new friend companion said he wanted to go, he would go.

Even though he wasn't entirely paying attention to Ryou's current posture, Uhroa somewhat felt the uneasiness that came with a situation he was unfamiliar with. Seeing others suffering was one thing, but usually he or his lackies were the source of the suffering, this time however it was due to someone else and something even Uhroa couldn't control. Hiding the uncomfortable feeling away he returned his gaze to Ryou as the boy came out from his sitting fetal position only to be bombarded with licks from his Poochyena. His brother Mightyena liked doing that to him whenever it could. Raising a hand to rub his cheek as if the Poochyena's actions brought back a muscle memory action.
At the point when Nurse Joy appeared, Uhroa was already deep in thought about the Punk from earlier and the ways to connect him to their acquirement of Antidotes or Pecha Berries. After being reassured that his Torchic would be fine after some rest, Ryou then asked about his other, less hurt Pokemon. "Hmm?" Uhroa thought on Ryou's question for a moment. "Well, I have to use the rest room, and I need to make a phone call afterward, so why don't you stick around and look after your Pokemon while I go do that?" He suggested. "I'm not sure how long my phone call will be so don't bother looking for me." Uhroa added before turning away some. "I'll come get you when I'm done."

His lie stated, Uhroa quickly stepped away and headed towards the lobby of the Pokemon Center, quickly the male exited back out into the city and took a moment to fish his Xtransceiver from a compartment of his bag. Flipping it open, he quickly found a previous conversation he'd held with his brother and typed in a quick message. 'I'm going to be dealing with something.' The message read. Almost instantly it was read from the recipient and not much later after that a message was sent back. 'What are you up to? Do you need me?' Uhroa let a grin slip onto his lips before it vanished as he replied. 'No. But just in case I'll send you some photos.' After a moment a reply was sent back. 'Alright, Yiyi. Love you, little brother. Stay safe.' Such a sweet message from such a rough looking guy. This time Uhroa couldn't help but chuckle. 'I will. Love you too.' He replied, then slipped the Xtransceiver back into it's compartment.
The real issue Uhroa faced was finding some random punk in the middle of this large city. Hands crossed over his chest he looked back towards the Pokemon Center. He didn't want to risk Ryou spotting him if the other boy returned to the lobby as well. Starting to walk, it wasn't long before the Pokemon Center was no where in sight. "Now, if I were to think like a typical highschooler prone to delinquicy where would I hang out after tucking my tail and running from a child much younger?" Uhroa pondered out loud. Pivot climbed up onto his shoulder and quickly motioned towards an alley they were passing. "The inner maze work of a city? Perhaps a construction site or an abandoned building?" After all his own cohorts hung out in a back lot hidden away from a building that had been bought out by his family (Though most just thought it was abandoned and adults didn't care to check for trespassers.) Turning into the alleyway Uhroa walked for a bit before he heard someone talking. Slowing his pace he pressed his back to another building and peeked around the corner. There he spotted three teens, one of which was quite familiar in appearance. It appeared the teen Ryou had beaten in a battle was now harassing a small group of Pokemon, one of which was an Arbok. The Arbok seemed to be protecting the smaller Pokemon with its tail. "What do we have here?" Uhroa muttered narrowing his gaze.
"Just listen! We gotta get these Pokemon to obey us so we can beat up that kid and his friend!" The punk Ryou fought shouted. The other two looked less than convinced. "Come on, a kid beat you? And what you tucked tail and ran to us to go back and beat up some snot-nosed twerps?" One replied. "Yea, brah... Like, kids younger than us gotta have some weak a** Pokemon and your tellin' us you got your a** handed to you by them?" The other added. Uhroa found it quite amusing they were talking about how 'weak' Ryou and his Pokemon were, when the punk who'd challenged Ryou hardly had a Pokemon worth the first gym. Stepping out from behind the wall, Uhroa couldn't handle watching them anymore. "Please, you act as though your friend is ready for the Elite 4 with his pathetic Pokemon." Uhroa stated as he approached, his best 'unamused' look on his face. All three turned to face Uhroa. "That's one of'em!" The punk shouted. "He's not the one I fought but he's still with that kid!" The two friends glanced between one another before looking to the Punk and then to Uhroa. "Look, little kid you might think your tough s**t with your puny Snivy but you aint." One of the teens approached Uhroa, cracking his knuckles as he did. "Even if my friends Pokemon are pathetic as you said, still doesn't change the fact that he was beaten by your friend. Since you came all this way why don't we do to you what we should do to your friend?" The much taller teen stepped near toe to toe with Uhroa arms folded. One thing Uhroa detested more than anything was being looking down upon.
Uhroa being an observer hardly ever fought, but that didn't mean he didn't know how to. His brother had made it abundantly clear that self-defense is a must as well as maintaining a healthy and athletic body. Not only this, but he even knew quite a bit about Boxing and MMA, as his brother taught him. That being said, size doesn't matter when you know where to strike. Right now, this idiot was at the perfect distance and height for a strong jab to the gut. Sent reeling, Uhroa quickly stepped back to make some distance between him and the teens. Pivot leapt forward off of Uhroa's shoulder and tackled the other teen who was quickly approaching. "You little s**t!" One shouted. The one Pivot had tackled grabbed a nearby thick stick and swung it hard, it caught Pivot before he could dodge and sent the Snivy flying into one of those large industrial trashcans. The impact from his landing forced the lid of the trashcan to shut. Of course Uhroa felt a bit of concern for his companion, but before he could do anything he was busy making distance between himself and the teen who'd first attacked him.
