They seemed to be fixated on that event long ago. It sounded really bad, but there were barely any survivors for them to know much, unless Caelius or H were willing to indulge them. But, soon enough, he was blinded as Allan acted as their radiant light of hope.
Literally.
And then... everything was back to as they should be. Deryk furrowed his brow as the leads (sans Mark) managed to fix things rather quickly and without too much trouble.
Quietly, he watched the Sun lead along with the others as they made their grand return. All was well again, though it certainly gave him a thing or two to think about. But at least, for now, he was just glad this was all over. Hopefully that cult was shut down.

Rep had felt his spirits wilt as Edith confirmed that kitchen duty hadn't just been an idle threat. Time without Harrison, more ******** time apart and trying to fill the void with something, anything to make up the difference.
He took Harrison's wrist. He'd trade with someone, if they'd let him. Culinary disasters didn't matter, a duty was a ******** duty, how could anyone complain.
"Aye. Let's." he said. They always came way too close to destruction for his liking, bombs and threats and betrayal every ******** where.
He paused, the room feeling too small, like a cage. Their room was comfortable and safe but it was still a room. "Actually." He stroked the inside of the other man's wrist with his thumb affectionately. "Mibbie it's a nice day. Lets go for a walk?"

Harrison smirked, and bumped Rep with his shoulder, "Maybe it is. Sure. I could use some air."
Allan had kept talking about Nakama. Harrison had never voiced his suspicions about how things went down, but maybe that didn't matter either. Or maybe it would come back to bite them later. Lance had been back on base and pretty nuts. Even if he'd done it, they could exonerate him later. Ceres and Bix had both been cleared for any crimes against the team, on account of being giant monsters.
Who was to say Lance hadn't turned?
Dwight and Mark had been in charge of portals.
In that scenario, somebody would have had to set him loose. Simon might have been the most justified. They hadn't gotten around to asking if Simon had actually been with Allan while he was defending him. There were different ways to protect somebody. And Allan had been run into the ground by missions. Since the council's demise, Allan hadn't been nursing a sling and looking like he was on the verge of death.
Harrison sympathized, if that had been the motivation.
And if H had made a suggestion along those lines...
He'd never met the council. Maybe they meant well. Maybe they were a bunch of old, paper-pushing bastards with no concept of the battlefield and no regard for bodycount totals.
Maybe it had gone down a different way.
He was a cop, and it wasn't like he hadn't taken interrogation basics. He just got all...pent up when it came to people in charge of his salary. It was probably for the best. Grilling leads and assists wouldn't have done him any favors. And he still wasn't sure what had gone on in the crime scene. Marks on the table? Wine? A handprint?
He leaned against Rep. "Guess I was never cut out to make detective, huh?"

Rep watched Harrison intently, most of the people present filing out indifferently anyway, they really weren't any wiser than they had been before, but for Rep it didn't matter, it was just more moments slipping into the past, no longer an immediate part of the now, he'd dwell on it later, if there was time, the same way he dwelled on everything. Right now what mattered was the immediate.
"So? Playing detective is death's job." He smirked. "You got the protect and serve bit to a fine art."
He snorted. "You are too ******** talented to be any sort of polis okay." His estimation of them had never been very high.

"Heh. Yeah, that's why I got let go. On account of my enthusiasm and ******** skillset." He steered Rep around, and towards the door.
"So we're not detectives. Let's take that walk before I've got to start playing chef."

She drew a sharp breath in as the 'extra month' of kitchen duty was added to her already lengthening list of chores to do. Edith might as well have looked at her, and told her personally that her punishment time was tacked on to. After all, Ceres was the only moon whom went through the portal. This really, really, was not her ******** day. As Gale looked at her, she felt a recently used expression turn back his way once more. Only this time it did not linger for long. Ceres... its not entirely Gales fault. You chose to go. Dont you think I know that. She also knew that he was defending Gale more because of Jinhai than the short blond. Her weapons soul was always quick to defend him. You didnt exactly stop me from leaping to defend your little dragon either......Yes, Keru... Ceres saw right through you. Soon her rigid posture converted back into one more usual, just her standing there. "Gale i...just." A sigh. "No, i cant do this right now." Turning away from the Death hunter, she shook her head and started to walk away. "We can talk later." Without another word to anyone, she turned and exited out of the room. [Exit]

Well.... nothing to do here. Grudgingly, the Lifer got out of his seat to go attend his duties of cleaning up minipet dung.
Fun times.

Though her glasses might have been properly readjusted and the ringing dimming down, Mimsy still avoided meeting anyone's gaze. She wasn't foolish enough to think that Sam's excuse for them would forgive her, and was already far too irritated to deal with this any longer. Dakota dipped into her peripheral long enough for her to be made aware that their bargain still stood; she was not far from a scowl when she snatched up the Jabberwocky cameo and stuffed it into her pocket, tugging her sleeve farther down her arm in her next motion.
Of all the things that could have been, she earned the one that would never go away.
A split second of singsong bubbled up in the back of her mind before Svensyl caught, for once, that now was really not the time.
Pushing past anyone who chose to linger, she made her way back to her room, hoping she wouldn't be met with a need for explanation when she got there.
