There was a fizzle of black as Sparrow shifted, smoke darting across the field before reforming in the reaper's form. He spun the scythe around, frowning a little at the apparition in front of him, black shadows trailing from the end of the blade.
What are those..?
The crowns she held sang to him, and though he was simultaneously repulsed by them, he could not help but draw closer. He sucked in a breath, staggered a little, and righted himself, blinking in confusion and frustration.
The scythe cut through the fog, and screeched to a halt at the form of someone standing just near to him, slamming into its side - a hunter, by the looks of it, so Sparrow was hardly apologetic.
Oh, she was just messing things up. Sadness welled up inside. She wasn't cut out for this at all.
The hunter she hit fell to his knees, and Sherry almost panicked. She was reaching for her bandages when she felt a hit.
"It's ok!" She said to Wilson, even as she did her began to apply her bandage to the Sun Hunter she'd hit. "I'm so sorry."

Jerry shook his head, trying to clear it of the fog and dizziness, flinching away as he felt hands on him- but no, it was another hunter.... he knew her face but could't remember her name just then, but smiled all the same as he weakly pushed his glasses up his nose, "It... it was a good hit, ahahaha..." He mumbled as she applied the bandages and he felt the daze lessen slightly.
A good hit, but she was not going to get HIS prize.

She smiled weakly. "It would have been a better hit if I could aim properly. It won't happen again."
No wonder her friends had run off. She was even trying to take out her own side. Though, it had been a decent hit. She agreed with that completely.
She stood and stepped back. This battle was crazy, and that thing still had the crowns. They just had to defeat the strange fog monster. She had to.

Getting smacked by a scythe really didn't bode that well with Lex. He gave the Reaper a rather nasty scowl, moving away so he could bandage himself again.
There, better.
Now time to start shooting this fog girl and get one of those crowns...

Another coil of mist wrenched at her, but Madison swatted it away almost absent-mindedly, her gaze fixed on the black - what were they, crowns? They looked kind of like crowns. Yes, clearly... and having one would, simply by nature of possession, confer great power. She felt that instinctively.
Nothing would - nothing could - possibly be any better than having a crown for ones own. She could almost feel the phantom weight on her brow. Dreamily, she lunged at the massive legs in front of her, dancing almost on the edge of the vortex as she slammed Kouki's blades home, the tips of the swords carrying eddies of torn fog in their wake.
Then she withdrew, even though it hurt to be further away from the crowns; still, getting some distance from the vortex was a very good thing.

Backing up to a point where he was close to Ami and Kat, he gave them both a nod. "Cover your ears." Was all he could say, with Regal screaming in his head. It was time to perform!
Clenching his jaw, the Lifer pulled the trigger and let loose the charged sound bullet, which ended up crashing into one of the beasts.
Sorry not sorry.

Wash peered though the fog intently, shoulders tense. The clamor of battle rang out around him - a distant thunder in the background. He felt lost in his thoughts.
Sasha, where are you?
Had she been swallowed by the fog like so many others? He felt a pang of sadness that made his shield arm bob, his heart heavy. He bowed his head. He hadn't gotten here fast enough, surely. One of the last to arrive, and all he'd be good for was tallying those who were missing. Maybe she'd changed her mind, and gone ahead with Rep - perhaps she prefered his vicious advances. That boiling hate.
The thought made his blood run cold, and he glanced up at the slight fog-enshrouded figure, cool hate and sadness warring in his heart - but someone was in his way.
Without another thought, he lunged forward, bashing his fellow hunter with his shield.

Just before he was dragged into the void, before he was given one last tug and was shadowed by that woman-shaped creature, the tendrils yanked away, allowing him to turn and drag himself up out of the snow and away as best he could. His entire body was numb after being dragged through the snow, and he brushed off great piles of snow from his body before he stepped away. They had to get away and get rid of this woman before she killed them all.
Turning about, his eyes caught sight of the tray. Three crowns sat, glimmering brightly. The colors were vivid, bright, and held his attention. Usually he didn't care for jewelry, but they were so aesthetically pleasing, catching, that they invoked a flood of emotions that overflowed his well of capability. One moment he was bitterly angry that he wasn't stronger, that this creature had insulted his power, mocking him with her smile. The next, he felt wracked with sorrow that they hadn't come sooner to save those that had fallen. Then, he would feel hesitant to go near, eyes on the watch for any dangers to him and others, not wanting them harmed.
This cycled in rapid succession, one after the other, that he barely could focus. Without even looking away from the crowns, he fired.
Ami looked down at Kat and said, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry." She backed away, giving the girl some space. She was being incredibly clingy, and with all those injuries, she probably wasn't making Kat feel any more comfortable.
Lex shouted something about covering her ears, and recognition crossed her face in the split second between him shouting and him pulling the trigger. She threw her hands over Kat's ears, thinking the girl would probably be too weak to do it herself. The result was a splitting ringing noise in her ear, but as long as Kat was okay, it didn't matter.
She looked to Lex just as Wash nailed him with a shield. The man wasn't looking too good. She shouted, "Lex!" just before tossing him her last set of bandages.
A painfully off-key voice sounded cheerfully across the battlefield.
The voice belonged to a rather ridiculous looking War horseman, bedecked in leather and hide and brightly colored feathers. His own wings were a screaming shade of jade, and he flapped them excitedly as he ran into the fray, waving a machete haphazardly.

Harrison pulled the elf off him, knocked it to its spindly knees in the snow; Jordan returned the sharp-edged grin with one of his own, his confidence seeping back further at the furious defense. "Thanks," he said. No time to pull Harrison close. Later. The fog-elf smoked away as Rep struck at the spectre. Jordan wasn't going to think of it as Julie, it wasn't Julie, it was the Insanity exploiting her image, and when he kept that in mind, the sick panic was controllable.
He moved closer to the drifting wall of fog. Something drew his eyes, and he realized for the first time that what the spectre carried wasn't cookies or pastries, but three crowns, small in comparison to her figure, but compelling, somehow magnetic. He wanted them. He deserved them - hadn't he given enough of himself? But at the same time a deep and bitter sorrow swelled in him, sourceless and huge, inescapable as a rising tide.
Ferros rumbled wordlessly, and Jordan brought the hammer around into the wall of fog, shaken by the sudden influx of uncontrollable emotion. Something was wrong. Was this imposed from outside, or was it his own mind and heart rebelling, still unstable from his small breakdown?
