Hehe, welcome to HQ! I'm happy to see you found us. Just to start things off, would you be interested in judging our upcoming contest? So far the judges include me, Kraeela, and Zacharra. The thread is located at the contest forum, so you can go take a look over there. wink

Ok, you're in. Welcome!

You could go through the drafts (in Alicemae's journal) for grammar mistakes!

Hehehe.......

Okay, I have printed off a copy of issue three from Alice's journal. I will edit while I am at work today and post any suggestions tonight when I get home.

I have also printed both Untitled and Headlines (both Alice's) to critic. I will post my suggestions for them tonight as well.

The poetry critics I will post in the mounds...duh. I will post a reply in your journal, Alice's, with any grammatical corrections I find in the issue.

I went and checked out your writting contest. I would love to help judge. I read the judging criteria. Do I just judge each piece according to that scale then send it to you? Do I PM my scores or post them? And may I add my own coments when I grade on the scale?

Sorry I am so full of questions. Once I figure more out I will stop asking so many.

Is there a closing date for the contest? When should the judging begin? Or should we just judge them as they come up?

Sorry again for the questions...

Well you pm them to us. They have to be averaged with the rest of the scores. And it is easier to send all the judges scorings at once to each contestant than each individually.

Nice to see a new staff memeber around.
There's also the point what's your point thread, which features some of my columns. (Incase you get done with the current issues and such you can get a jump on the future ones). But, with a project, contest, and that it especially needed be placed that high on the list.

Also, I was thinking we could do a sort of PBS style money grubbing campaign. Where we give them some graphic with our logo, possibly their face, and maybe like their name and such on it. And possibly it could be the key to getting them entrance to special things, contests, interviews, etc...

O.o Oh no no no, don't ever, ever stop asking such questions. I never even thought of such things, and these are questions we need answered. So you see, asking questions is a good, helpful thing.

3nodding I approve of our latest staff member. Hopefully she will continue to contribute.

And I found another factoid. Did you know there's a mushroom out there that's worth more than gold? Yep, it's called a Truffle, and you find it in certain parts of France and Italy. They're very rare and hard to find, and they train pigs to find them. Over there, they cost about $750 US dollars, and coming here it goes over a $1,000. Would you pay that much for a mushroom? eek

Oh joy, a real b***h. Huzzah! biggrin

As for truffles. Examine how many rich people we have. Examine how many of them are dumbasses. Your answer should come quickly.

xd Indeed, the answer strikes swift.

I am a huge history nut, if Serieve would like any help.

I would, if we had not decided to change it into just a plain factoid. Hence the truffle comment. If you know of any really interesting things that happened in history though, I'm sure Alice would add them.

So far we have:
Decapitation Awareness
Peasants in a Golden Carriage
Fungus Books
Costly Fungus

That is, if Alice wants to put all those in the 'zine.

Now, as for all those changes you're wanting to make... No offense to you, as I'm sure you understand, but this is simply my input.

I like the familiar, warm, and welcome tone Alicemae always gives the 'zine. Sometimes, yes, it does sacrifice accuracy in literacy, but... I think we can reach a compromise. Find something both literate and still warm and welcoming.

And the Newbies vs. N00bs thing, which came up in the 'zine, puts the new people into two groups (just FYI). The Newbies are okay. The N00bs are... to use Johaclave's very accurate style of language, "illiterate dumbasses." (Again, just FYI incase you weren't aware.) Biased as it is, I like the seperation. It shows we know the difference and stay away from the latter of the two. Try to, anyway. We've succeeded thus far.

I'm sure you and alice and everyone can work something out and settle on it. It's not meant to be a hardcore professional magazine, but we don't want it to be too unprofessional either. Not that we're professionals. sweatdrop But you get what I mean.

EDIT: Oh! And uh, that whole second part you edited? About the 7 sins and Wrath and all that? I'm sorry you spent your time on it. xp Really, because unfortunately, that was last issue. Thanks for the comments anyway!

P.S. You wasted printer paper and ink on it too, didn't you? ><

*cough* One other thing, this one directed toward alicemae.

gonk I thought you were a stranger wearing our editor's clothes. domokun

I'll get used to it someday. xp

Thank you for the information. I really didn't know about the newbies vs. N00bs thing. As for the formality of the publication, a lot of people do prefer the familiar to the formal. I will concede. I was just trying to make suggestions if professional was the image we were going for. As for the second part that I edited, it makes more sense now that you say that was last months. Oh well no harm no foul. The more I do the better I get at editing. Don't worry about the paper and ink. I get it for free. I have a friend who is school teacher. The school pays for her ink and paper. When she orders hers she orders me some as well.
