"You had him and you what? LET HIM GO?!" Gossamer hissed as she marched closer to them.
Sapphire immediately placed herself between Gossamer and the two men. Not only did she know what Gossamer would do to them when she was this angry, but it was a bit of a habit jumping in between people thanks to years of wearing a costume. With any luck, she could at least lessen the woman's anger towards the two of them. "Calm down, Gossa-"
"CALM DOWN?!!"

"Oh s**t . . . way to let the cat outta de bag 'bout me almost having Joker." Arell growled at C.J., who was slowly backing towards the truck.
"Hey, YOU tried to grab a homicidal clown with acid here. Who's the REAL genius, moron?!" C.J. argued back. Feeling around his belt, C.J. eventually found his bullwhip. For a minute, that lazy goofball who's biggest surprise in this part of the guild was making out with Sapph (and nothing really action oriented until now) could have passed off as Indiana Jones. Arell looked at him funny.
"So we gonna jump int' action here an' save your gi- crus- whatevah, or are we gonna save our own butts and DEN make up a plan?" Arell asked, concerned a bit for their new friend . . . especially how awkward things had become between C.J., Sapph and Mama Bear Gossamer. C.J. noticed the light above the front door, the angles and then looked back at Arell.
"Dundee's the planner. We're gonna have to do the half-gainer hike. You be the bait!" C.J. said quietly, but almost like he was taking charge.
"How come I'm de bait dis time?!" Arell asked, taken aback.
"If this were Cry-err Catgirl over there, it'd be the other way around. Ok? Now trust me on this one." C.J. said, going off to the side a bit. Arell looked at him.
"You know what yer doin', right che'?" Arell asked, C.J. looked at him.
"Nope." C.J. said as he prepared to spring into action. Wow, where's the action like this in the romance one?! Ally and Eric would probably wanna see this! he thought.

Gossamer stormed forward, not noticing that the men were making a move to do something. Sapphire made sure that she was still placed between Gossamer and the boys, blocking the angry mother's path.
Alex moved to get between them as well, instincts picking up the murderous intent radiating off of the woman.

"Quick, Arell! NOW!" C.J. yelped. Arell took out a pistol and fired a shot in the air. Mostly to divert Gossamer's attention. Meanwhile, C.J. sent the whip around the light over the front and pulling it taught. C'mon, don't fail me now! he thought and swung forward on the whip, picking up Sapphire on the front swing. They landed, C.J. quickly getting the whip loose from the fixture.
"Good swingin', Benoit. Now let's get outta here!" Arell yelped as he bolted for the truck.
"Wait, Arell, give me your gun! I got me a chill comin' on!" C.J. said a little shakily. He wasn't that skilled with a whip while holding someone. Something that Harrison Ford would always have on him.

The gunshot worked in moving Gossamer's attention. The moment she realized that they were trying to make a run for it though, only made her angrier. With her teeth bared, green slashes of lightning crackled around her fists, and she aimed both of her hands at the group.
Cripple now, get down to the bottom of things later.

((That worked a lot better than I expected. Let's see if our heroes' luck holds out.))
Arell didn't see the lightning for around Gossamer's fists. He was too busy trying to start the truck. It took about three times, but the truck finally turned over. He backed the rig up the driveway. C.J. looked at Misty, then back at the crackling fists.
"Uhh . . . Mist, honey . . . I forgot t' tell ya . . . I'm allergic to death with a fatal reaction. Let's try t' get outta here before señorita psychopath sends us to DC: Heroes Rising!" C.J. yelped, his hand back, feeling for the tailgate that would save their lives.

Lucas, who had watched and seen enough, transformed back into his Marvel state and stood between Gossamer and her prey. He walked, fearlessly, up to her and grabbed her hands, staring her right in the eyes.
"Stop. This. Right. Now," he said, his voice utterly calm even as his face showed a sort of fury.
"You want the Joker for hurting Rosie? So do I. And so do these guys. Do not attack your allies. This isn't helping you find the Joker any faster, now is it?"

Gossamer stared back at him, her eyes literally glowing with anger now. "This wouldn't have happened if they hadn't left them ALONE with him!" she hissed.
//// I gotta go get something to eat and move some stuff to another building. I'll be on again later. /////

Meanwhile C.J. looked at Sapph. "Do all y'all's parties end like this or we just lucky?" he asked as he felt for the tailgate. the moment the Marylander felt that tailgate, he, Misty and Arell were as good as outta there. Of course, if Gossamer had her way, the trio would be bound for the graveyard. However, C.J. seemed to be on to something, standing up alongside Lucas. This was a look that clearly had the usually easygoing young man screaming "I have had enough." "Now lookee here, Señorita Screwball. You think we had anything to do with what went down?!? You oughta be goin' to kill the JOKER or gettin' Vice an' yer daughter to safety instead of tryin' to come around here, tryin' to use your mumbo-jumbo voodoo bullshit to KILL US!" he growled, now getting past Lucas and up in Gossamer's face. Not just for the fact that Gossamer threatened his best friend, the girl he had developed a crush on, her friend, her friend's crush/boyfriend/whatever the flying deuce Lucas was to Alex, as WELL as the three cats that were in the particular area and whoever else was in a block of that building, but neglecting the fact that her child had just had a bullet removed from her FOOT as well as Vice wearing a Glasgow Grin over on the couch. Witch or not, this dude, who lacked superpowers, gadgets or anything that could potentially save his a** from certain doom from Gossamer was the one who was tearing the witch a new one. His move of foolish bravery got Arell to not only stop the truck, but sit on the tailgate in sheer awe. He pulled out his phone and was recording the whole thing for Crystal. ((Aaaaand in this corner . . .))

Gossamer just stared at him with a deadly silence. Lightning still snaking up her fists and flickering in her eyes. She wanted to tear their intestines out through their backs. ALL of them! But.....they had a point. Taking it out on them wasn't going to fix things. And...it wouldn't make her feel any better after she did it.
Cautiously, Alex stepped up closer to the men to back them up. Sapphire stood where she had been, watching Gossamer intently. Ready to wrap some of her threads around her at a moment's notice.

"I'm only gonna say this once: Stand down." Lucas said to Gossamer. "And I'm not asking-- I'm ordering."

Arell smirked. "Yeah, piss her off further, y'all. See how well dat works out for ya!" he said as C.J. looked over at Misty, then back at Gossamer.
"You'd better listen to him." C.J. said and laughed a bit. "Boy this is a long way from home. Whatcha thinkin', Mist'?" he asked a little bit. Strangely calm after ripping Gossamer a new one.

Misty wasn't quite as calm as CJ was, her entire focus was still on Gossamer. The woman had made people bleed to death for talking like that to her before.
Gossamer growled out something incoherent after both men had made their comments. The lightning around her wrists crackled and snapped at the ground. But...rather than lash out at the men, she spun around on her heels and marched back towards the couch Vice and Rosier were on. The more distance she put between herself and the others, the more the lightning faded.

C.J. smirked. "Well, that was anticlimactic." he said, adjusting his hawaiian shirt, rebuttoning when he realized 1) somehow his shirt got popped open in one of the makeout dares and 2) it was chilly out. Arell smirked a bit, adjusting his cowboy hat.
"Bettah anticlimactic den dead, che'. What was you thinkin' 'bout dat?!" Arell asked.
