__ Hikaru arrived to Baset's side. Paper formed from his fingers. The paper took the form of paper horses with wings. The horses flew and went to each person. Masato, Tetsuhiko, Bastet, and eventually one for Hanako. When she arrived she could claim her horse. The purpose of the horses were simple. They were all on reserved to heal in case of emergency. As long as they were there, Hikaru had what he needed to save anyone.
Having arrived a little behind schedule, she did at least catch Bast's order to begin with the genjutsu. Hanako barely had enough time to catch her breath before she looked up angrily at the fairy in the sky with her Sakkakugan active. The blood-red eyes glowed in their demonic fury as she made a single hand-seal and a clone jumped up and dashed at the fairy. , she thought as she activated the clone, causing it to explode and disperse in a cloud of mist to hopefully distract the spirit enough for her allies to get in some solid blows.
The scariest part of this fact is that it seemed real. There was no way to discern if the mist were illusory or fake due to the supernatural effect that the Sakkakugan held over what would be usually determined to be a superhuman ability to ensnare the senses. "I hope eternal fog is your particular turn-on, because it's going to be, dear...", she chuckled as she added to the fact that this was not going to be over soon.

A single chord was hit in full volume, which despite Tetsuhiko's loud organs was heard over it. The fireballs all collided on her area as they engulfed her from all angles. They did a good job at dissolving the evidence of the fairy's escape, which was through the use of a demonic crystal ice mirror. Through traversing the mirror, the fairy was also able to shave off the genjutsu which the two enchanters tried to cast upon her. It was very smart of Bastet to bring the genjutsu users. Unfortunately, The Sugar Plum fairy already figured out a way around such an affront. It was a good thing big sister Snow Queen was able to help her figure out a way around genjutsu. It may make it harder to perform Demonic Crystal Ice mirrors, but considering that she had so many that it wasn't like they were going to break them all.
The Sugar Plum fairy emerged out of one of the myriad ice mirrors which covered the sky. A fiddle was played as the four Masato's would be engulfed in a snow cyclone. Another note was all she needed to have a giant whale of ice drop down on Tetsuhiko, HIkaru, Bastet, and Hanako. Its weight would easily be enough to crush them all, while the cyclone would effortlessly freeze and eliminate those pesky clones. The Sugar Plum Fairy had no problem playing games with all of these kids, but were they ready to play back?
(Demonic Crystal Ice Mirror: S-ranked Passage of Pain: Passive which allows the fairy to shed any genjutsu she is hit with S-ranked and below by traversing a mirror. Through a plume of fire, a cacophony of music coming from both sides, and what she could only assume were several Genjutsu she couldn't see, Bast felt the Sugar Plum Fairy's presence vanish. At the same time, she felt another nagging thought at the back of her skull that pointed her elsewhere, where she saw the spirit climb out of a mirror. Before she could point it out to the others, the fairy made its presence painfully obvious. She made a hand seal and sent a blade of wind designed for cutting through large summons at the whale, then planted her feet.
"Cover me! Someone get our guy out of the way, too!" she shouted over the din. She looked up at the sky full of mirrors and inhaled deeply, sucking in such a tremendous amount of air that the wind would likely start to change direction.

__ When the fairy disappeared it appeared as though his genjutsu had no effect on her. "How do people specialize in genjutsu? It seems like no one wants to fall for it!" Tetsuhiko was about to have a whale of a time when the ice whale was dropped above him, but Bast thankfully cut the sculpture in half using wind. Tetsuhiko then covered Bastet with a swirling iron sand defense. He enhanced it with an A-Rank amount of chakra to add to its defensive capabilities. "Run like the wind, sensei!" Tetsuhiko laughed at his own joke in a theatrical fashion as he manipulated Io to shoot a plume of fire towards some of the ice mirrors. As Caesar stood next to him a spherical A-Rank chakra shield formed around Tetsuhiko and the puppet for his own defense.
The fairy b***h vanished somewhere among the flames. A strange new uniquely rectangular chakra color that was a light blue formed within the explosion. In fact, several formed that Masato's sharingan would catch. Somehow it felt as though time was moving even slower than before. His eyes would unknowingly spawn yet another and final tomoe. His sharingan had reached the pinnacle of its basic form while in such a high intensity battle with stakes as high as the level of ninjutsu flying around him. As the four of them were blown back by his own attack he had taken note of her movement and the striking sound of a resigned bow against string indicated the next act as Masato's eyes saw the chakra in the air circulating, forming a spiraling motion. Masato's clones would dispel with the sheer winds and snow cyclone brought, while the real masato would vanish in a blur of motion. He dashed through the snow being created, creating a mist of powder in his wake.
As Masato moved towards his target he took notice of the giant whale that had formed while he was evading the cyclone. Sequentially, the kazekiri technique that Bast used gracefully to cleave the whale in twain. As the fragments of ice fell from the sky, Masato's hears perked up as Bast's command to her squad. The wind gathering around the group paired with her warning gave Masato an indication to stay out of the airspace above by the spirit's mirrors. He smirked, knowing exactly how to play the next attack to meld with his group. Gathering wind chakra into his palm, Masato drew his palm near his body to load it for his next strike while he jumped into the air. Within fifteen feet he would meet the head half of the whale head on as it fell towards them.
With a mighty palm strike aimed at the frozen mammal's upper half the impact would shatter the formation into fragments that would fly skyward, acting as shrapnel to pierce the countless mirrors above. The corresponding burst of wind would continue to add pressure to any downward motions within thirty feet of the group below, making it impossible to descend on the group. The debris and snow in the area would ascend back towards the foe as the suction from such a powerful upward draft drew in the air around him.
With the sight of impending doom by the falling snow construct, Hanako ducked for cover behind Tetsuhiko, only offering the Iron Prince a bit of a grim grin as she prepared herself defensively for anything her superior could not protect her from. It kind of felt bad to be so helpless except for her tracking and genjutsu. She was trying her best, but still, it seemed like it wasn't good enough when you had to size up to people like Tetsuhiko, Bast, and Masato.
Masato seemed to be the saving grace at that point, pushing his limits into the fifth gate to punch the snow-whale structure into bits, but Hanako still wasn't keen to take his strength for granted and held her position to offer support to those who needed her talents on the ground level of the action. If only there were an opening. She kept her Sakkakugan eyes locked on the fairy's life-essence and tried to discern if there would be a point were a genjutsu might be optimal.

__ Paper came from every part of Hikaru's body. Bastet needed cover, and that's exactly what she would get. His fingers glazed over several of the pieces. The pieces flew upward and shielded along with Tetsuhiko's iron sand. The boy stood next to his fellow defensive partner as he knew that whatever the boss was going to do was something big.

The shards of ice from the whale broke through three of the mirrors. The girl winced as she saw Bastet prepare for an attack. Did they truly think that she would allow that? Another chord was struck, and with it a pillar of water came crashing from the sky. It froze into solid ice as it collided with Tetsuhiko's and Hikaru's defense. There was a massive impact shockwave from the collision. It kicked up dust so that the fairy could not see her work. Even without seeing them, however, she could sense their life. Sure enough, as the dust cleared, everyone was still around, although whether or not the shockwave knocked them back or injured them in any way was impossible for her to determine at this point. All she knew was that Bastet was able to continue charging thanks to the defenses of her two students, which meant it was time to panic and bolt! The sugar plum fairy performed a body flicker the moment she knew that she failed. Masato and Hanako's eyes could trace the chakra as the fairy fled much further into the building complexes, flying down a somewhat narrow alleyway.

Bast finished inhaling as Hikaru's and Tetsu's defenses took care of the ice pillar. There was only one thing to do now, and only one thing she could do: exhale. A massive gust of wind filled the sky, shattering the ice mirrors. It would seem the fairy wasn't too fond of that act, as it immediately fled for cover. Unfortunately, this technique took time to execute not only on the front end but also on the back, so she wouldn't be going anywhere for a short while. She gave her team a thumbs-up as her gale winds filled the sky.
__ Tetsuhiko was amazed by Masato's incredible feats of strength and speed. It was quite herculean despite being a bit too brutish to be considered real art. The martial arts did appeal to Tetsuhiko aesthetically, but mostly slow and soft ones like Taichi. He then imagined Masato mastering taichi and fought back a chuckle. Tetsuhiko looked over his shoulder and smiled supportively at Hanako. It was not long ago that Tetsuhiko was also a greenhorn genin and knew how it felt to rely on Sonyo, Nariomi, Bastet, and James during the Shukaku attack. He was impressed by Hanako's apparent talent for genjutsu and was certain of her potential. He then hoped to have genin students of his own when he reaches Jounin.
The Iron Prince was also fascinated by Bastet's abilities with wind ninjutsu. He watched all of the mirrors shatter as he looked up at them and smiled briefly. "Beautiful." He then snapped out of his wonder as he looked towards Hikaru and nodded to nonverbally indicate that he should assist him in this next endeavor. The iron sand that guarded Bast so that she could shatter the ice mirrors with her attack was now swirling around the building complexes until it blocked all of the exits to the narrow alleyway she was flying down. As he formed handseals and played the music from his puppets even more chakra was applied to the iron sand acting as a barrier. The chakra applied was an incredible S-Rank amount which is by far the most chakra Tetsuhiko had ever used at once. He looked over and Masato and shouted. "Masato! run towards the iron sand barrier, she's in here! I'm making an opening for you!" Suddenly, a large enough gap was formed at the entrance to the alleyway for Masato to enter through and finish this.
The power of the colliding of the defenses rendered and the sugar plum fairy's epic ice attack would cause an pressure wave explosion that forced Masato to bend a knee for a moment. His monsterous strength would quickly overcome the power of the attack as he stood back to both feet, narrowing his sharingan on the chakra of the sugar plum fairy.
Masato placed his hands on the ground with just the fingertips touching the earth. He grimaced as he prepared his next move. He would have to catch up with the woman as quickly as possible. He vanished in a blur of green energy and black warped chakra, leaving an afterimage in his wake. As he dashed forward his speed would climax, appearing distorted to those around him. As he cleared the opening that Tetsuhiko would have made for him a back-blast of wind whorled from the sheer power of his movement. As he entered the dome the escape routes would be cut off. " I got you now..." he said as he dashed into the enclosed alleyway. The booming sound echoed from within audible to all outside as Masato leaped at the fairy in one flightly step. He drew back, releasing a massive chakra infused punch. His chakra from punch would expand as it traveled outward would collide with the spirit and sling it into the enclosed barrier's end. As the woman was smashed against the barrier, Masato continued to travel forward, allowing his fist to land firmly against the woman's solar plexus.
Wide eyes were met with the punch. The strike hit with such force that reality caved in for a second and the entire moment went to black and white line art. The Sugar Plum fairy dissolved into pixels as it flew away. The snow in all of the other areas stopped falling as it did. While a spirit could not die in combat, it would take her a long while to recover. In her place, however, a wave of sensory information came to all of the ninjas here that the Snow Queen was in the Eternal Forest. (Good job guys!)

Just as Bast was nearing the end of her technique, she received confirmation of the "kill". During the brief window of time that the world became a manga, she would find it remarkable how well Masato and Tetsuhiko worked together to trap and finish off that fairy. It would seem she, Hikaru, and Kurama were out of the spotlight for that ending. Based on the info that pinged their minds shortly afterward, though, there was another act.
"Haaaah," she sighed as her technique ended. She filled her lungs a few times just to get back into the habit of breathing normally before she did anything else. Then, standing up with her back straight, she addressed the group: "Head to the fountain or the rainforest! We need to back up our fellows and drive these spirits out!"
So saying, she would depart toward the Eternal Rainforest posthaste. They needed to strike before the enemy could regroup and before Masato tore himself to pieces, wherever he decided to go.
The might of the punch last delivered would end the sugar plum fairy's presense in the area as Masato's sharingan detected the movement of chakra as it dispersed in order to reform elsewhere. " hmmf " He scoffed as the power of his gates vanished. As they did he knelt immediately. " What the hell..." He said aloud as he stammered about, tempting to reach his feet. He moved to clench his fist, finding it extremely painful. He would merely wince at the pain, attempting to mask it. Finally making it to his feet he glared down at his limbs that pained him. " This is...what Nariomi sensei mean...?" He said quietly to himself as he pushed past the pain.
While reveling in his own physical pain, a strange new sensation to him, an image of the fountain and the rainforest flashed in his head. The two images that were shown to him displayed Karuto and his group in the forest , then Nari and Taylor with Lady Sonyo. " M-My team needs me!" He exclaimed as he found his footing. The tingling sensation in both his legs caused him to grit his teeth. There wasn't time for pain. He had to go to his comrades. Suddenly the origami horse that was placed upon him began to glow with medical chakra. Although it would not completely heal his wounds, Masato felt his legs gain their solid form once again. " Oi, thanks! " he exclaimed with a wave to Hikaru.
While he wanted to press on he examined himself. Beaten slightly, battered. He needed a moment. Taking a meditative position with his legs crossed he would rest his forearms on his kneecaps. " I really can't afford to take this extra time!" He grumbled as he focused on his breathing. Through his breathing and control he felt his chakra pool regenerating more rapidly than normal. As he exhaled, he would imagine himself reaching the peak of a mountiain. the mountain peak was cool, crisp and refreshing to sit upon. He had the world before him and could see everything. Inhaling, he would take in the world, learning from it, examining its challenges and with his next exhale, saw himself conquer them. [ 2 resting post ]
Sighing, he opened his eyes, having closed his sharingan before he began his meditative state. The deep black burning orbs of ocular potential stared outward. He nodded. " Definitely better." he said aloud as he jumped to his feet. He stretched, feeling his body's signals, indicating he was ready for another round. Or...at least more than before. With that, he sped off. [ 3 rest post | Exit ]
