Andrew had been startled at first, but the man obviously wasn't an enemy from what he had seen earlier against the soldiers.
"My name's Andrew. Look, I'm not sure what's going on here. I've been remembering things that I didn't know I could. I had to tell my son and his mother to stay away from me for some time and that I'd contact them when things got better, but I don't see how this can get better on it's own."
He raised his hands and thought of the needles that emerged from his skin days beforehand. He was only thankful that his family was nowhere near him to see what he'd become. To be honest, he wouldn't have given a damn back in high school, or even when he was in jail, but the thought of his son changed everything. He let out a sign. He felt a little overwhelmed as his rationalizations had been consuming him ever since his host powers started up. To think, he had thought life was just settling down for him.

Clarissa turned to look at Elizabeth as if the woman was crazy. Considering the idea she just said, the older lady probably was. "How about no? We might be a bit stronger than them," No, really? "but I don't think we can take on a machine gun car."
And honestly, hadn't they had enough adventure for one day? "Let's just keep running till we find those other Hosts." Maybe then they could catch a tiny break from all the running and killing and overall panic.

"But... but... machinegun car..." Elizabeth protested weakly. Nonetheless, she followed when she was gently pulled along by the remnants of a sleeve.

"Yeah... yeah," Lance agreed. "I'm a bit shaky on what's goin' on right now. But I guess that's not what you're wondering about. I mean - " He paused suddenly, listening.
The two men had been hiding out in a possibly-abandoned shack that some poor local resident had probably thrown together. Lance now listened as trucks rolled up outside and then to a stop. Voices and the distinctive noise of firearms alerted them to more soldiers outside. They prepared to fight.
But the soldiers never came into the shack. The truck's engines eventually were turned off, and the outside world grew quiet. Lance put a finger to his lips, then tip-toed to the door, indicating for the two men to follow.
---
The streets seemed again completely empty as they moved along towards where they had heard the other hosts. The sun was beginning to rise now.
As they came to a corner in the street, Elizabeth was actually the one to stop them. They paused, listening to the quiet sounds of distant activity, until they heard what was unmistakably a voice, not far from them, possibly in the building they were pressed against.
Helena glanced around the corner just a tiny bit and saw a few of the same trucks parked in the street. She reported this to the others.

"Maybe we could get in from the top." Finnegan suggested, gesturing up towards the roof of the building they were against, "I could boost you lasses there one at time and get up there myself. Then we can either find a way in from up top (even if it requires a little cutting), or at the very least, have a good vantage point."

Helena hadn't any ideas, and so was silent after divulging the results of her reconnaissance. She did like Finnegan's idea, though. She sighed and put her hands on his shoulders. Meeting his gaze, the artist muttered, "Give me a count, Irishman. Up on three, please."

David stood behind Andrew in a daze, he planned to continue to silently follow him as he done for the last couple hundred miles since his blackout.
Covered in dirt, his clothes torn up, David clearly wasn't in his element. His head was hazy, this sense of the others around him was foreign and his mind rejected it. Suddenly he heard a soft laugh in the back of his mind and he snapped back to reality. David looked at his new companions with new eyes.
"Wait, what are we doing?" He asked timidly, as if afraid of his own voice.

Lance put a finger up to his lips, and beckoned them to come to the door. They proceeded to do so.
"Look," he said, pointing out the door he had cracked open. They each took a turn, and saw the same thing - two trucks parked in the streets, with more soldiers swarming over them. At least two nine-man squads for a total of eighteen infantrymen. Against the three of them... well, that was going to be a problem.
"We have two choices," Lance whispered. "Try to sneak out the back, but I think there might be more there, or try to sneak out the front. We could also just make a break for it, but they have a truck."

David peaked out the door again and shuddered. His side was on fire, all the muscles in his hip screaming around the pins stuck in his bone. He wouldn't be able to keep up with the other to if it came to a sprint for freedom.
"I'm up for trying to sneak by. But it's up to you two, I don't know about any of this. I run a restaurant." he whispered fearing the attentive ears of the soldiers.
David looked up, relying on the stronger men to decide his path for him.

He looked around for any other way out of the building. There were two doors, and there were obviously men out the front door, so perhaps looking out the back dor carefully to see if there were any back there would be best.
"Perhaps taking a quick glance out the back to see if there's anyone out there, for certain. Maybe they don't even know we're in here."
If all else fails, they could attempt to take down a few soldiers while they made their escape.

Finnegan nodded, knelt, and readied his hands for Helena's foots. Once she was in place he counted just loud enough for Helena to hear.
"One... two... three!"
On three, Fin hoisted the lady up with a grunt, keeping his focus primarily on keeping his leg intact.

She planted her shoe in his hands on two, and pushed on three. In the end, she had even more velocity than anticipated, but clambered onto the rooftop without a problem- her heart was pumping double-time, though.
Helena glanced around to make sure she was safe before informing the others of what she saw up top.

Out back, Andrew spotted just two soldiers in the alleyway. That was only in the direction he could see, though. They were both facing away, conveniently enough, so they didn't see him peeking out.
"Well then," Lance murmured. "I'm guessing there are probably four in total - they stick in pretty well defined squads around here. We could probably just bust our way out back and then push through. But I'm gonna let you guys decide.
---
Up top, Helena had a slightly better view of the trucks and their positions. As suspected, two nine-man squads on each of the two trucks. About half carried rifles, the other half carried melee weapons. One of the two trucks appeared to be the machine gun truck, and the gunner was sweeping the streets and rooftops for targets. He didn't spot Helena, but he was certainly looking in that direction.
The roofs stretched on from where she was, and it looked like there was nobody on the roofs. They could consider making an escape that way.

Thinking for a moment, he glanced at the back door again.
"They have the trucks out front and ony a few guys in the back, we might be able to take them down stealthily, severing the spines could prove effective. Snapping the neck or something like that. Maybe a spike in the head could do it. I'm game for the back door"
He tried to be as quiet as possible when speaking. Danger was literally knocking on the front door.

Quietly, Helena suggested, "The rooftops are our best bet, it seems. No one's up here and we can stay low enough to go unnoticed- assuming the Powers that be don't ruin that plan too."
They hadn't exactly had the best luck lately, after all.
