"I do say so," Des said. He gave the boy a smile. "I don't make this stuff up. So try to have a little faith. She's a strong woman. She's not going to give up so easily."
**
"I was...in the process of helping him?" Enrion said, watching the girl sling Gyp around like a rag doll.
Oh dear. Another weirdo has arrived, he thought.
"We should probably attempt to catch up with the others," he said, starting in the direction the others had gone.
**
"Awww...the wings disappeared," Deni said in a slightly whining voice. Saori smacked the back of her head.
"Shut up and walk!"
The three of them made good time though Deni and Saori had to practically run to keep up with Basti. Fortunately their training had resulting in rather astonishing amounts of stamina and neither had and issue following him at that pace. Soon, they could see a few small specks on the horizon, which eventually began to take the shape of two red heads, each carrying a tow-headed female. And followed by two other people--a man with black hair and a boy with white hair.
Somewhat behind the first group, was another group of three people too far away to make out properly.
"Are those your friends?" Saori asked, when the people came into sight.

"Yes, well, friend is a bit of a loose term...but yes." Basti looked up to see that Cheeva was in Des' arms and looked as bad as ever, though she was mercifully unconscious. "How's she doing? You made good time," he called as the gap closed and the group in the woods became nine. "I come bearing healers. These are Deni and Saori." Basti indicated the pair as he finished speaking.

"Oh no!" When Deni saw Cheeva, she broke into a run, reaching them in a few minutes. She took of her cloak and set it on the ground.
"Put her here," she directed.
Des complied and laid the unconscious Cheeva on the cloak, stepping back to give the healers room to work.
"You get to work on healing the burns," Saori said, catching up to Deni and immediately beginning to roll up her sleeves. "I'll work on restoring her arm and eyes. She moved her hands over Cheeva's face and frowned as her hands passed over the right eye. "I won't be able to heal this one. It's a very old injury," she said. "But I can heal the other.
"That one was missing already before she was burned," Des explained.
Saori nodded, then looked at Deni. "Let's get to work then."
Deni looked over at Angela with a smile. "I can sense that you're injured as well. We'll tend to you after this one is healed. For now, we should conserve as much stamina as possible."
"Don't worry about me," Angela said. "Just get Cheeva healed."
Both girls closed their eyes and began working, their hands glowing faintly as they began to heal Cheeva's injuries.

When Basti showed up with the healers, Inutai was more than relieved. He sat closeby, watching them work on Cheeva. From what it sounded like, they would be able to fix her. Then everything would okay, wouldn't it?

Basti stood in awe as the girls went to work. He was seriously reconsidering his previous opinion that they looked too young to know what they were doing. They did look young, but they were good. Injuries that should never have healed began to knit together under the glow of Saori and Deni's hands. A low whistle of amazement escaped Basti's lips.

Deni was the one who finished first. Healing burns was fairly simple, even when they were so incredibly extensive. Regenerating limbs was far more difficult but she let Saori handle it as trying to mix their magic would just hinder progress. Instead, she went to Angela, who was still being cradled in Zen's arms.
She didn't see such injuries often but she still recognized frostbite when she saw it.
"How did you get frostbite injuries this time of year?" she asked in confusion.
"Magic," Angela replied. "Obviously."
She shut her eyes as the girl's magic began to invade her body. She hated that feeling so she retreated into the memory world Zen had created through their bond. She focused on a memory of her own and the surroundings changed once more.
This time to a dilapidated stone atrium that had once been part of a vast castle, most of which was now in ruins.
In the center was an old fountain from which came a slow trickle of water that flowed into a small pool covered in lilies and moss. The entire place was overgrown with rose bushes and climbing roses. They hadn't been tended to in years and were steadily taking over. Currently they were in full bloom, nearly all of of them red. The fragrance alone was nearly intoxicating.
Angela inhaled deeply and sat near the pool, trying to ignore what was going on in the real world--at least until the girl was finished.
**
"Don't look so worried," Des said, looking over at Inutai, whose face was awash with concern. "Look at how much they've already healed her. She's going to be fine, okay?" He ruffled the boy's hair gently and watched the healer still working over Cheeva.
They were very adept healers. He was grateful they made it in time.
**
"Well now we're all together again," Enrion said. "As soon as everyone is healed, we can set out on our journey. We have to find whatever power it is that's spreading darkness into this world. And we have to stop them.
"No more delays."

"There will be one slight delay, Mister Messenger. I've promised to see the healers back to their town when they are finished." Basti shot a slightly dirty look at the latest person to rejoin the party.

Cheeva felt itchy. Wonderful, now Angela would insist was was louse-ridden. Then Cheeva realised she was thinking...and groaned. Wen had she passed out? She tried to crack open her eye and then growled. That's right, no eyes. "H-Hello?" Cheeva muttered. She stopped, surprised. Her lips could move again. She flexed her jaw. There was no pull of burned and scarred flesh. Her good hand reached out to grab at something, anything. "Wh-what's happening?"

"Nice place." Zen said, a bit egotistically while standing next to Angela. "I used to have a place like this. Where is this?" He gestured around at the flowers.
"We don't answer to Twelve Morons. I don't care if they're grey, pink, or hell--even orange! They're little cute stunt with cowardly attacking Cheeva doesn't put me in a particular rush to help them out." Zen glared at the pawn of a messenger.

"It's where I live," Angela said, looking up at Zen. "Well, not this room of course. But these ruins. This spot is...my spot." She blushed slightly for some reason, feeling oddly embarrassed by the fact that she had wanted to share this spot with him. "I just come here to get away from things, to think, to cool my anger at...whomever I'm angry with at any given moment. It's soothing."
She smiled slightly--both in the memory world and the real world--at Zen's insults toward the Grey Twelve. "I'm afraid I have to agree with Zen. If your masters thought nearly killing one of members would make us more compliant I fear they grossly misjudged us--or me at least. I can't speak for the others."
**
Des moved slightly closer to Cheeva when she spoke. He leaned in to answer when he felt her flailing hand land in a very...sensitive spot. He wasn't really a modest man by any means but this caused even him to blush. Especially when she squeezed, apparently not knowing exactly what she'd latched on to.
He grimaced slightly and removed her hand, holding it in his and deciding to just let her figure that one out on her own if she would. He thought it best not to say anything that might arouse her wrath at the moment.
"Cheeva," he said gently. "You're being healed so please don't struggle. Your burns have regenerated and now they're working to restore your eye and arm. Just be patient...and...uh....stop flailing about."
**
With Basti, Zen and Angela all glaring at him, Enrion felt rather surrounded by enemies. This was not how this mission was supposed to be going. They were supposed to be nice, compliant heroes who were eager to save the worlds in peril, not a bunch of in subbordinate ruffians who questioned everything he said and insulted his deities.
He sighed. "At any rate, none of you are equipped for travel so we would need to stop by the village anyway for supplies," he said. "So walking your healers back will be on our way. That is the only reason I'll agree to it!" he added, trying to maintain some sort of semblance of authority in the situation.

"And whose fault is it that we don't have any gear, hmm? I might check the intelligence of the next people who offer you a job before taking it, if I were you." Basti didn't add that even if they had been equipped, he could have let them start off and returned the girls himself. He would have been able to catch up with the group quickly enough through the air, and there were enough of them that they would be easy to find even if his eyesight were merely human. This way, however, kept him from being tripped too terribly on the way back to town and stuck a thorn in the Grey-Matter-Deficient Twelve's side at the same time.

[[Chee's face = gonk Steffi's face = gonk gonk ]]
Cheeva's face didn't know whether to land on disgust or horror. She decided to express herself with a mix of the two, a rather unpleasant looking grimace. Not...pleasant.
"You try and be patient when you can't see," she muttered. "Or move. And who is healing me? Who's there?"

Inutai nodded when Des spoke to him, and simply watched in amazement as the healers did their stuff. When Cheeva came around and started talking and flailing, his expression brightened.
"These two girls Basti brought are healing you," Inutai told her, his tail wagging happily.
Toshi nearly rolled his eyes. Inutai's descriptions weren't always the best. "I believe Bastian went to fetch healers from a village down the road and brought back two of them."

They arrived slightly late from Gyp's insistence that he could handle walking around blind rather than be carried around like a child.
So, naturally, he was covered in dirt, leaves, twigs, and various other majestic regalia from nature beating him up...or him beating himself up, depending on how you saw it.
"Damned little idiot punk," the tiny girl muttered, dumping a very tired Gyp on the ground (he groaned, she muttered "weakling" and ignored it) as she approached the cluster of freaks rather abruptly.
"Yo!" She flashed a peace sign briefly and looked down at the injured Cheeva, raising an eyebrow. "What s**t got her? Yowch, looks like a b***h."

Enrion looked around feeling very much attacked. "I didn't choose to work for the council, rather, I was chosen," he said. "And you have to help, surely recent events--which I still can't remember, thank you very much--have shown you that."
**
Saori scrunched her fact slightly as she tried to concentrate despite the voices around her. Within a few minutes, Cheeva's eye was completely restored and she started on the arm.
"There!" Deni said, wiping her forehead and smiling at Angela. "Good as new, right?"
Angela moved her arms around carefully and gave the girl a tentative smile. "Thank you," she said. She glanced up at Zen and blushed slightly, then wriggled out of his arms, quietly withdrawing from their little shared memory and planting herself firmly back into reality.
She glanced around, noticing how beat up Gyp looked. She went over to him and touched his arm lightly.
"Gyp, are you alright?"
