"Well to me, but I always found something interesting," Lin laughed a bit, "Well... let's see.. the last time I was there Alyse's brother decided he was going to train a falcon, which was fine except as babies they live on the edge of a cliff... their mother Aliya was not impressed with that."
She found herself switching because Amora did, Lin probably wasn't even aware she had done so.
"Also, Celebor, who is the son of Elnara, his family moved to the Borderlands the last time I was there. Four children all at once, so things get quite interesting."
Leaving out one pain in the neck little elf, though she was sure the boy would be getting better... she hoped.
"I don't get to visit often so maybe that's why it always seems to me that things are happening, but growing up I've followed the fighters around. Went to the mountains with Adandhel and his mentor.... when your parents first visited the Borderlands it was great fun. Though looking back on it I think a lot of things went over my head when I was young. All your family there knew your mother right off because she looks.. I heard just like your grandmother, so of course the more protective male family members gave your father a hard time."
She paused and then added.
"So did my father, but I think only because he was amused. He has a sharp sense of humour. I also admit I was allowed to run around a lot growing up, and when you're really small the sort of trouble you can get into is endless."

Amora giggled. "Mother does look very much like my grandmother," she affirmed, "and I know I look a lot like Mother. Father says it's the curly hair."
She wrapped a ringlet around one finger, then pulled it down until it sprung back up again. "I don't know. Hair is hair. I icani see other similarities, but ..."
She mused over the other facts Lin had told her. "So ... my cousin Celebor is living there with his family now ... well, I suppose he's not quite my cousin, is he?" She laughed softly. "Very well, then, second cousin. And Great-Uncle Elrohir ... and then several very distant relatives ..."
As they approached the gate to the second courtyard, she appeared deep in thought.

Lin wasn't so sure but she was pretty certain that seeing an elf with curly hair was like seeing one the colour of mocha or with freckles, it just wasn't that common.
"Yes, with Adoani and Aliya with their own families, and Adandhel with his family...." Lin thought about it, "Mother and father once said.... that it use to be just Ulani and Ulrich, well Mom said there are others but they live up a mountain I believe? And rarely ever, if ever come down."
She wondered if those people, whom she didn't know had ever come down during the existence of Haven.
"I can't imagine it being that quiet... or empty."

"Oh?"
Amora looked curiously at Lin as they entered the castle at last. The moment they were indoors, she reached up and pulled down the scarf that was over her head, letting it rest against her back instead.
"What do you mean?"

The shade was lovely she thought as she pulled down the scarf. Even with it, it was still very hot, and more than she was use to (and she ran around wearing dark clothes since she was a Surprise).
"I first went to the Borderlands after the creation of Haven, by that point, Ulani and Ulrich already had both their children, but they also helped out a lot in Haven. Sure it's outside the valley, but you could walk there and back again in good time," Lin explained, "The second time I was there Ahren was born... that would be Elrohir's eldest... the by the third visit Adan was already born, he's Aliya's eldest... Arwen was little back then..."
She blinked, so many As how did anyone keep track.
"With time difference between two worlds, before I even was old enough to be considered an adult there came to be Adonijah, Aewin, Alyse, and Timeaus... I grew up with all these people I can't see it just being Ulani and Ulrich since that's what I've grown up with."

Amora shook her head slowly. "So much in so little time," she murmured. "If not for that time difference, I would love to visit your world ... to learn about your world ..."
She paused, then added, "But I can see your point. About not being able to see it being just the two of them. I suppose it's all what you're used to, but even with me being five years older than Pengolodh I still can't imagine not having him around."
She led them towards a set of stairs, where they would have to go up one flight.

Funny she was sure Alyse had expressed similar concerns Lin mused to herself at that. Following Amora, Lin nodded at this statement, that was also true.
"True...." Lin murmured.
She also wondered if others might want to visit the Eastland in the future. Those were her thoughts as she went up the stairs.

It was a lot of twists and turns, but the two girls finally made it to Amora's bedchamber to wash up and change their clothes before they then were able to head to the dining room - all told, by the time they got there, they were beyond late.
"You're in trouble now!" was the greeting they got from Pengolodh when they finally made it to the dining room. "Two whole hours late! You're lucky I didn't starve to death!"
"Pengolodh," Estel said sharply, frowning at his son. "Enough. You've eaten, don't bother the girls."
Pengolodh was not placated. He was clearly quite annoyed with having to wait around for them to return.
"I'm sorry, Father," Amora said softly, lowering her head slightly. "Lin ordered a custom piece from Lanaea, and you know how she is ..."
Lothiriel, who was sitting next to Estel and cradling their youngest son in her arms, laughed softly. "We do," she smiled. "Don't worry about it. Come, sit, you must be hungry."

Lin blushed at the fact they were quite late though she had to give a wryly look at Pengolodh, so he was still a kid at heart. He seemed so serious before she had to wonder when she met him earlier.
"Thank you."
She took a seat so she could begin her meal. Until the food was set before her, Lin hadn't realize how late it was, she was hungry.
"Until you mentioned it, I didn't realized I was hungry."
But she was horribly distracted.

Lothiriel smiled at Lin. "Don't worry about it," she said firmly. "Lanaea enjoys her work more than anyone I know, and if you ordered a custom piece from her then I'm sure she took quite a long time to make sure all of the details were perfect."
She giggled softly. "The final product will be better than you imagined, I promise you that. I know of no one in the Four Lands who can equal her skill, even Ulrich."
Amora looked around as she moved to take her seat. "Where is Elia?" she asked curiously.
"Bed," her father replied. He glanced sidewise at Pengolodh. "And you should be heading there too."
Pengolodh folded his arms across his chest. "Not til you and Mother come," he said firmly.

Now that got Lin's attention, even though it was divided between eating and paying attention. To say that not even Ulrich could compare was saying something, granted until Lanaea Lin hadn't ever seen anyone else's work that she could connect with.
And she knew Ulrich had been challenged in carving while Adan was growing up.
"Hmmm?" Lin blinked at Pengolodh's stipulation.

Amora leaned closer to Lin. "He has trouble sleeping if Mother and Father don't both tuck him in," she confided quietly in English. "He hasn't been sleeping well for a few days, since Mother's been in bedrest, but it's logical that now that she's up and about a bit, he'll want her to tuck him in as well."
Age after all had nothing to do with sleeping abilities - it was a personality thing. Everyone just hoped that he would grow out of it someday.

"Ah...." Lin nodded before going back to her meal.
That made sense and she wouldn't question it, she had seen all sorts of personalities so that wasn't a big deal. She was sure it was something he would grow out of in time.
"I see..." she murmured.
Perhaps then it would be best she thought if Estel and Lothiriel went ahead then.

"You still need a bath before bed," Lothiriel told Pengolodh firmly. "Go. We will be there soon enough."
Without any further protest, Pengolodh bowed his head respectfully, then rose from his chair and left the room.
"So, Lin," Estel said brightly, looking at her now that Pengolodh was gone, "why don't you tell us what you think of our fair city?"

"It's lovely, there are so many places to see, and people to meet," Lin admitted.
Though to be fair she knew she felt like that about any place, she tended to be like that and she knew it, but there were ways that people did things that made it unique. As being in the glass shop proved.
"There's still a lot to see..."
