Awen had been sitting at her table, a new book in hand. She had given the xbox 360 a rest and currently was engaged with the story of Magiere the hunter in a wonderful new series she found in the entertainment room.
The vase that had been given to her now contained a new set of flowers. THe old one's Awen had finally decided to hang by the stems and dry out, so they could be preserved better.
She glanced to the door and put her bookmark in place. "Come in." She called to whomever may be knocking at the manta's door.

When he heard Awen call out to come in, Avery opened the door, peeking in. "Hey, Awen!" He walked in, shutting the door shut behind him, smiling. "You seem to be a lot better since the last time I saw you... it's been a while, huh?" His tail was wagging slowly, happy to see her again.
"I wanted to come return the pyjamas that you lent me, I got my own clothes now... thanks though. Anyway, what have you been up to? How are ya?" he asked, grinning at her.

Awen stood up politely as Avery entered. She took a quick look over him and realised that he had changed. She wasn't exactly surprised..it had been awhile. But still her eyes went slightly wide and her mouth partly agape. "Oh Avery!" She said almost in a gasp.
She knew how frieghtened he had been of the changes and wasn't exactly sure how long he had been in this form. She noted the tail waging though, so it must not be too bad, he was...er..happy?
"Um hey thanks for returning the PJs, you can just put the-" She glanced over to her bed. As much as she had gotten used to the tank she still couldn't get over the occasional slips now and then. Putting the Pyjamas on her bed wouldn't have been such a wise idea. "I'll just take them." She chuckled and moved forward to take the bundle of clothes.
"Make yourself at home."She gestured to have him move in further. "I've kind of been hermitting myself in here actually... or in the lake while I still have a peaceful time there alone..." She glanced back. "What about you? Lots happening?"

Avery winced a bit when she gasped at his appearance. He hoped everyone didn't react like that... although he supposed it was a reasonable reaction. He felt self conscious enough as it was. At least she didn't ask him any questions about it, though. "Sure," he said, handing her the clothes.
"Well... not too much," he shrugged. "I mean, other than the obvious... oh! Thank you for the plush dog, by the way," he chuckled. "If it weren't for that, I don't think Tim and I wouldn't have been able to figure out what I was turning into right away... and I have to say I'm a little relieved that it's not something really horrible," Avery smiled a little at her, although it was a bit forced. It was hard to make himself happy that he was changing, even if it was only into a dog.

Awen blinked a little bit. Plush dog? What was he.... ooohhh... that was the stuffed animal she asked Sabin to send to Avery. She idly wondered if Lauren had gotten one too.
"So you're a dog are you? I just asked them to send you a stuffy." She smiled brightly. "But a dog isn't so bad, even pretty if you ask me."
She put her pyjamas back in the drawer before moving back to the table and sitting. She gave him a sort of sly grin. "Tim and you though huh...?"

"Yeah... I guess I am," he shrugged. "No idea what kind, though... I hope it's nothing like... a poodle or something lame like that. The floppy ears look retarded, though. And they still feel... weird." He reached a hand up to touch them. "They feel so flimsy."
Avery couldn't stop the small blush that spread over his cheeks when she grinned at him. "Um... yes. He's kind of, er. Moved in with me." He cleared his throat, trying not to grin... too much.

"I think the floppy ears are cute!" She protested. "My favourite dogs had floppy ears. Labs and the like..."
She grinned a bit more seeing the grin touch his lips. "Oooo...Well congrats for that then. I'm sure you two will be a reat couple."
Speaking of relations....Awen unconciously glanced at the intercom. Sabin said she would hear from him soon but...it had been quite awhile.

Avery chuckled. "Labs huh? Maybe I'm turning into one of those..." It could be worse, after all.
"Thanks," he grinned. "I really like him a lot. I hadn't even been thinking about getting with anyone on the island, but he just sort of... happened. But what about you - any lucky guys trying to get into your room?" he leered a bit, winking at her.

Awen smiled and even chuckled a bit at his words. Until he mentioned any guys going for her and realised she had been looking over his shoulder to the intercom. She blushed slightly but her muscles tensed as well. It was partway between embarassment and fear.
"Well... not really." She chuckled a little to try to cover things up, passing the fear off as simple awkwardnesss. Or so she hoped. "Not many people would want to get involved with a ugly fish girl like me. After all I might not be able to breathe air if I keep changing like this..."

"Hey, don't say that! You're not ugly," Avery protested. "If anyone judges you based on your appearance then I think they need to go look in a mirror themselves! Everyone here is changing, so no one has the right to judge you based on that." Avery really believed this, he didn't think it was right to judge other based on something they can't even help.
"What do you mean, not able to breathe air..?" he asked, but then he realized... well, she was turning into an underwater creature. "They wouldn't do that, would they? I mean, if they can make it so you can only swim in fresh water... then... can't they make it so you can breathe above water too?"

Looking down to the table Awen was...sort of glad of the topic change. It took the turn away from potentially revealing her..thing with Sabin. But it turned down a road of bleak possibilities for Awen.
Who was she even kidding? Sabin probably knew Awen was turning into a fish, not able to breath above water... was he just playing with her? But he had seemed so genuine...
"I don't know. I don't mean to scare you.." She glanced up at Avery. "But Pyroth, I don't know if you've met him or not, is.... he's.... caught between upright walking and four legged. None of us thought they'd go that far... no one else had changed like that.... I don't know. They...might... make me breathe only in water. This is all experimental after all. They might not be able to stop it."

Avery's eyes widened when Awen told him about this Pyorth person. Did that mean he was going to keep changing until he was just a full out dog!? He didn't want to be a dog! Was he going to lose his human voice until he could only bark? Would he still be able to think like a human!? He closed his eyes for a moment, taking a few deep breaths. He was not going to have a panic attack again...
He opened his eyes again to look at the fish-girl, and he wasn't sure what he could say to her. What could he say? She and so many other people knew more about this place than he did. Maybe he was just lying to himself about this place, trying to make it seem not as bad as it was... but the truth kept sneaking back up from the islanders that have been here longer than he has.
"But..." he began, but he trailed off, feeling rather helpless. "I... I don't know what to say. It's just... not fair. I'm sorry... I wish I could help."

Awen shook her head a little. "Don't be. You know don't worry about it Avery. Only Pyroth has been like that...and he was one of the first islanders from what I know. It might....just be... a defect? Or his unique DNA reacting to the serum. I mean... we're not all alike, right? Colche and Amaya changed as many times as he has, and they seem perfectly upright and mobile. I'm sure it won't happen to you." She smiled softly.
"And I can talk to Sabin about me... see what he can do about my changes... so you don't have to worry about me." She smiled brightly. Not noticing she mentioned Sabin's name offhand. In her mind she had said the labtechs.... Freudian slips? Gotta love 'em.

Awen had a good point, but Avery couldn't help wondering what if the reason Colche and Amaya haven't changed to four legged was just for that same reason - because everyone was different? "Yeah... maybe you're right. Maybe it's the same for you, too?" he said.
"Sabin?" Avery frowned a bit - he couldn't remember if he had heard that name before or not, but he was sure he hasn't met anyone named Sabin. "Who is that, one of the lab guys..?"
