"I suppose that's a good thing. Last time I saw her it was a long time ago..." Amaya frowned, her next statement catching in her throat. Alec didn't need to know that the woman had laughed at her. It was one of the many things she remembers distinctly, and those things always seemed to involve her appearance. What would people think of her now? She sighed through her nose, physically deflating.

"Wheelchair...? Well... can't say it surprises me." Maybe they were trying to "help" him regain the function in his legs. Yeah right. More like destroying everything else on him while giving that one thing back.

Brown and yellow eyes traveled up to him, her head cocking to the side and her tongue flickering. "You look tired again... am..." She looked away, trying to forumulate her words. "... I keeping you awake or anything?"

Alec tried to straighten his position in his chair but only managed to slump back down into the seat. He hadn't cared what he looked like until he realized that his fatigue might upset her and not wanting to tack on extra guilt onto the already fragile girl, he tried to look more lively. "No." He responded sternly, shifting in his seat. The hamburger was staring at him.

"I' suhrpised me a lil." He admitted, continuing the conversation. "A' though' th'Doc woul' a' least leave 'em alone." The teen shrugged it off, not really caring what had gone on between the doctor and Marlow. The end result turned out to be the same.

The teen shook her head, then looked at the burger as well. Maybe it had lettuce or a tomato on it. She poked at it with a claw and brought it closer. Flipping the bun off her head tilted at the veggitation on top and her tongue flickered.

She was really hungry but... she wasn't sure if she could handle eating in front of Alec. Amaya didn't want him to see much of an animal she was now... apperances aside.

He blinked and watched her movements, how her claw dexterously moved in such a simple gesture. She was picking at the burger. Maybe she didn't like what he'd brought?

"Ye w'nted pehckles?" Alec asked, sounding a bit ansy. Great. Brought her food to cheer her up and forgot the damn pickles.

As Amaya was contemplating her digestive future, she was caught rather offguard by the punkster's question. She blinked, a non-existant brow raising at him as she just... stared.

Then her chest started to shake, her eyes closing as she raised her hand to her snout in silent laughter. Why was that so FUNNY?! Gradually, her laughter grew to a sort of hissing chortle. PEHCKLES! Oh my god.

Alec stared blanky back at Amaya as her shoulders began to shake. It didn't help when she started making these odd noises which confused him even more to their purpose or meaning. After a moment of staring he noticed she was laughing. Laughing? Had he ever even seen her laugh before? As if it was some contagious disease, the punk teen joined in the laughter.

This went on for a moment more until he remembered he had no idea what was so funny. "A' d'n ge' i'." He flatly stated, still trying to stifle a few snorts.

Gradually, the lizard stifled her laughter enough to spit out an answer to Alec's statment. "Y-You said... pehckles. I'm sorry. It just sounded so funny." She laughed again, rubbing at her eyes with her palms. Though her laugh was still oddly silent along with her voice, like she couldn't speak any louder then a whisper.

Alec still didn't really understand what she was finding so amusing, wondering if pickles themselves were some humorous sort of food where Amaya came from. "Oh." He scratched the back of his neck and smiled, letting the joke pass by him.

Pointing to the burger, he finally gave in to his ever-hungry stomach. "Ye gonneh eat tha'?" He laughed a little, glad that he had elicited such a response from Amaya even if he didn't understand waht he'd done.

Amaya nodded, half smiling. "I can only eat vegtables and fruits anyway." Removing the lettuce and tomato she put the bun back on and handed it out towards Alec. Laughing had made her thirsty, so after he had taken the burger and twisted around and little and grabbed the bowl full of water.

For a moment she hesitated, but eventually closed her eyes and lapped some of it up. She didn't want to see his reaction.

Alec leaned far over to reach for the burger just as Amaya clued him into the fact that she had to eat vegetables. He stopped mid-motion when he heard this and looked up at her in a moment of embarssment before shaking his head with a laugh. Leave it to him to offer meat to a vegetarian.

After receiving the food, he quickly took a large bite as if he hadn't eaten less than an hour ago. As he munched away, he could hear Amaya lapping at the bowl of water she'd produced much like a dog would but had no reaction. In fact, he wasn't surprised at all. From what he'd seen of her the other day, she would have to start acting more like an iguana now more than ever. It was only natural.

Though of course it looked natural, to Amaya it still felt like she was some beast even though she retained her human logic and emotions... and even the abilitiy to talk. Barely. As the punkster ate, she did too. The lettuce and tomato were put on her plate as she had to tilt her head sideways and grab the bits of food with the side of her mouth.

Moving around with her jaws and tongue, the girl had to sort of tear it with her sharp teeth before swallowing. Her head seemed very animated given such a simple motion as eating.

"Now ye eat as weh'd as a' do." Alec snickered, making light of Amaya's situation. It was true that even though he'd had some time to adjust to his changes, he still had trouble chewing most of the time. His sharp teeth definetly weren't made to gnaw on things for very long.

Amaya gave a weak smile. "I suppose so."

She was silent a moment, waiting for her friend to finish eating. She had to talk to someone, anyone, about a couple of things. "I've... noticed that I can't really talk loud anymore. And things look really... weird. Which is why my lights are off, save for the lamps." She looked around to emphasise her unseen point.

Alec wiped his mouth with his hand and went back to teetering on the two legs of his chair as he listened, stretching out his arms. "Ye neveh talked loud t'begin wi'." He chuffed in weak humor but let her continue. "Like... th'lights 'urt ye eyes?" He didn't really know what she meant and required ellaboration. He knew her eyes looked different compared to before but the changes that were visible were obviously not telling the whole story.

Another sad smile. "I was a lot louder before you managed to wind up here. You first saw me after the worst had happened. I used to be a lot more cheerful and happy, but..." She scratched under her chin. "Not so much anymore. After I changed the third time things just went downhill from there." She looked away, trying to shake off from being so negative.

"Anyway, yeah. I'm just not used to how things look now. Everything is a lot brighter. Even you." Amaya gestured with her snout. "I'm not sure if I can explain it but... I guess the only way to compare it to anything would be like wearing those 3D glasses." Her tongue flickered and her tail shifted a little, so long that it now cascaded off the end of her bed and onto the floor.
