Easter at Ice's
"Easter!!" Soho shouted as she flitted around the house. All the windows were shuttered in the back half of the house. And she was on strict orders not to peek out back while Ice and the others hid the eggs. "Eastereastereaster!! CANDY!!"

"Sounds like someone already got into the bag." Silva drawled as he lazed on the couch. He didn't like candy that much. And the idea of searching through the grass for those tiny foil covered chocolate eggs struck him as stupid.

And what was worse, he thought as he glanced down at Oblivion and Walter. Was that they'd be dodging the brat and his monster. Metal eggs... who in the hell got ahold of metal eggs?

"We're ready!" Ice called as she opened the back door. Soho flew past her before the "dy" part of the statement was past her lips.

"Why are we doing this again?" Bavaria asked from where she was perched on her bonded's shoulder.

"Because you're just going to have to get used to your cousins, and because I want to see Walter!" Trin answered, for the fifth time since they started the walk here. "And it's Easter."

"Yeah, so?"

"Don't you want to go hunt for chocolate Easter eggs?" Trin asked patiently. She had already had to drag her Feien here from the building of a Feien sized gym. It was something about needed to get better in order to keep up, and out do that 'b*****d Silva'.

"No, not really." Bav answered, giving a small shrug as they came up to the Ice's house.

"I take it they didn't have much of an Easter in the Fleet." Trin muttered. "Now, cover your ears. HEY ICEY!!!" Trin called around back, not even going to bother with the front door. "We're heeerre!"

"WE'RE IN BACK!!" Ice shouted back. She was showing Walter and Oblivion the eggs, then pointing to the yard. "There's more of those! Go find them!"

And then she watching in amusement as Walter climbed onto Oblivion's back, tapping his little heels into her side and wheeled off to find his eggs. Maybe they were edible! Oblivion's were!

Silva muttered something dark, heading out to the back slowly as Aleric passed him with a little smile. Nick and Nack raced out as well. They loved chocolate!

"How could I have ever figured?" Trin muttered, grinning as she headed for the back. "Looks like you made it in time to hunt for the Egg, Varia."

"Oh goody." The Feien muttered and flew off her shoulder, hovering in the air to watch Soho and the others. They seemed to know what they were doing. And Silva didn't look like he was enjoying this.

Trin, on the other hand, went to join her sister. "Soho looks happy about this." She said.

"It's probably one of the most dangerous things I've ever done." Ice said, almost seriously. "But it makes her happy."

"Found one!" Nick shouted.

"Me too! Me too!" Soho said, taking a pause to sit on her small pile of eggs.

Aleric slowly made his way to Ice and TB, glancing at Bav. "Would you care to join us?" He asked. "I'm afraid I'm not very good at this sort of thing."

And Silva dropped down on the chair, closed his eyes and made ready for a nap.

Bav stayed in the air amoment longer before coming down closer to Aleric. "So, the object of this is to find the shiny eggs, huh?" She asked, looking around. It couldn't be that hard. The foil glinded in the light, after all.

"The sugar highs will rule your house, and you know it." Trin snickered.

"They already do." Ice said with a shrug. "You should have seen Nick and Nack last Halloween. They have a habit of stealing little kid's candy bags. But I SWEAR Silva helps them!"

"It is. There's chocolate under the wrapper and whatever you find you get to eat." Aleric explained with a slight smile. "Or trade, as Nick and Nack seem so fond of. They come in different types, milk, crunchy, and butterfinger."

"Found another!!" Soho shouted.

"Queen of the chocolate hill.." Bav drawled looking at Soho, then shook her head and looked up at Aleric. "And you say you're bad at this? Or does everyone just beat you to them?"

"Well, I'm going to have to deal with that, if Varia decides she likes chocolate. She hasn't tried it yet, that I know of, and I still need to find out what she likes and doesn't like." TB said, then remembered the basket she had. There were bits of metal on one side, candy coated mault eggs on the other, and five smaller baskets with smaller candies in them. She held it up. "Oh, and I brought this, too."

"You're out to torture me, aren't you?" Ice drawled. She pointed to the little boy riding happily on his beleagured looking Daemon's back. "That's Walter and Oblivion over there. I'd introduce you, but, well... they're kind of busy right now."

She almost winced as Oblivion swallowed a metal egg whole. "Chew your food, Oblivion!!" She shouted, knowing the Daemon wouldn't listen.

"I'm afraid I'm not quite as... enthusiastic about chocolate." Aleric replied, still smiling. "But it's very good."

Silva rolled over and snored.

"Well, let's find some anyway." Bav said and took to the air to get a better view. She wanted to see what Soho was so hyped about and if it was good for bartering, then all the better.

Ok, Aleric wasn't as scarring as he first came off. The whole polite thing really threw her off, however.

"That's what sisters are for, Icey. Gotta have someone in like to torture. " Trin said, grinnging as she ducked inside the house to put the baskets away. Out of Oblivion's reach, she hoped.

"I had to put wooden slats in front of the metal chainlink fence." Ice said casually. "She's already ate at least three of my hammers, an allen wrench set, and a couple of socket wrenches." She went on. A tiny little smirk pulled at her lips.

"But there's something I need to talk to you about." She added, turning serious as she looked over at her sister. "And it's not... very good news."

Aleric nodded and headed towards the grass, motioning the juvenile to follow. She didn't trust him. That was... difficult to fix. But he would give her time.

"Found another!" Nack called.

"Yeah? Well I found TWO!" Nick shouted back.

Bav followed him before a glint caught her eye and she shot though the air for it. One foil wrapped egg, nestled in grass. "Ha! Got one!" She declaired happily, giving a crooked grin to purple male.

Then she joined him, holding up the egg proudly. It was her first, after all. And she was starting to feel left out with all their shouting!

Trin blinked at her sister. "What's wrong?" She asked as the happy smile dropped off her face. She just hoped she didn't have to babysit Walter and Oblivion any time soon. Her shop would be a feast for the Oblivion.

"Did I ever tell you about my boyfri--er... Ex boyfriend?" Ice asked, easing her way into the subject, even though she didn't want to bring it up at all. "His name is Shade. He's... he's like me, you know? With the tail and the face markings. An Ancient." She paused again, looking out over the grass, as if she didn't want to go on.

"Bavaria!!" Soho shouted. "Good job! You found one!" She had two in her arms at the time.

Aleric smiled. "Very good job!"

Bav rolled her eyes at the praise, but her grin didn't drop. "Now, to find more." She said, keeping the egg in her arms. They needed more if Aleric was going to get anything, and she wasn't about to share her's.

If she was paying more attention to these thoughts, she would have jerked. Sharing and wanting to help the 'new' family? Already? Trin was really starting to get to her.

"Yeah.. you told me of him once. Like, when you started cursing him out in different languages after you broke up with him." Trin said and leaned against the door frame. There were things about Shade that she didn't know. Like why they broke up and.. well, everything other than he was like her sister.

"He's... He's a pervert, and a drunk, and goofy, and--" She stopped, sighing and pushing at her hair. "He's also really, really dangerous. TB... he's an assassain." She finally admitted, not daring to look at her sister. "He works for a really old, and dangerous woman named Kori. And he kills the people that try to mess with her business empire. Or if someone pays enough... People that try to mess with theirs."

"My pile is larger." Nick boasted, sitting on his rather large *for him* pile.

"Like hell!" Nack shouted from his own pile.

"It is!"

"Count!"

Soho squeed as she caught sight of a whole stockpile of eggs all together... then spent the next ten minutes trying to figure out how she could carry them all at once. They kept falling when she went over three.

Bav had six of them, three in each pile since Aleric was helping. She was used to even traied among the Pack when things went well and that was traslating over to this.

Did it matter that the others had more than she? Hell yes. But the knew what the hell they were doing. She didn't.

"You dated.. an assasian?" Trin asked slowly, looking at her sister. "Well, that explains alot! That's why you never much talked about him after your great vent after the break up." She said, trying to remember what they had done to 'celebrate' then deciding it was best not too know.

"I didn't know he WAS at the time!" Ice hissed. She crossed her arms over her chest, looking vaguely uncomfortable. "And when I found out by accident--" Accident being she had found another woman's name and address on a scrawled note in his room, only to find out he wasn't cheating... just killing...

It really didn't pay to be a snoop. "But there's more." She said reluctantly. "See... he has a job on Gaia."

Reluctantly Soho took them two at a time, knowing it was the only logical method, but at the same time it was inviting others to steal her legitimate booty! It was so wrong!

Aleric picked up another egg, heading for the piles that Bav was building and putting it down next to one. Why she had two piles, he wasn't certain. Perhaps she wanted to share with her brothers and sisters!

Bavaria zipped back to the piles, having narrowly advoiced a large bumble bee that was around a potted flower that she had scavanged her egg from. She didn't like bees.

That egg Aleric had dropped, she stuck into one pile, when she stuck the one she held in another, not about to explain what she was doing. Then she fluttered off to find more. Though the others seemed about done as it was.

Trin had this sinking feeling as she listened to Ice tell her all the lovely details she had missed. "Don't tell me he's after you, now? To kill you?" She asked in an emotionless tone. If that was so, they were going to do something. Anything...

"No..." She said. "If anything, I think he still... loves me." She couldn't look at her sister. It was hard enough as it was. "He's... he's after you, TB. You've made some big companies really angry with your cheaper prices and better quality."

"I'm so... tired!" Soho exclaimed as she finished up her WAY too big pile and draped herself on top of it. "All mine!"

Nick and Nack were rolling on the ground, fighting to the death over whose pile was bigger, since Nick disliked counting.

Only Aleric picked up on the mood, slowly moving closer to the humanoids.

"There has to be more..." Bav muttered, still searching for more of the foiled eggs while the others were happily sitting on their piles.

Trin paled sligthly, staring at her sisted. Ok, April Fool's had already passed, so that couldn't possibly be it. She blinked again. "So... because I'm better... they want me dead...?" She asked finally. "Why not just offer me a job?!"

"I don't know." Ice said, taking a ragged breath. "I don't know why they don't just hire you, I don't know how I can stop him, either. I sent him to another planet, but he's got the same abilities as I do... but more. He'll be back as soon as... actually, I'm not sure why he's not here already. He probably got distracted, the dumbass..."

Aleric stayed silent from where he was eavesdropping, his heart pounding heavily against his chest. That's why she had stopped Silva...

Soho sighed and started unwrapping one egg, licking the chocolate as it was uncovered. This was heaven...

"Give!"

"Never!"

"GIVE!"

"MY PILE IS BIGGER!!"

Varia choked on a laugh at the two fighting as she headed for the piles. Well, no more so it was time to find out what the big fuss was about. She picked up one of the eggs and started to unwarp it.

This was way Trin didn't like dealing with alot of people. They thought and did stupid things like this. She had already out lived many competing companies even before this. She sighed, moving to her sister and giving her a supportive hug. Both for herself and Ice. "I think I'm in shock." She muttered. "The whole idea that someone is out to kill me hasn't sunk in."

"But what would Shade do if he found out we were sisters?" TB asked. "I mean, if he still loves you, then--"

"What do you want me to do, TB?" Ice asked. "Take him back? He's a killer. I can't love a killer. I don't want to love a killer! I don't..." She sighed, looking down. "I don't know, ok? I just don't know. Maybe it would stop him. But maybe it won't. He's very serious about his job. The only thing he IS serious about."

Aleric felt numb. There was nothing he, as a fairy and a short lived creature, could do about something like Shade. At least... not that he could think of at the moment. But he would.

He had to.

"Take him back? No way!" Trin said, more startled and about to laugh dispite the situation. "He's a perv, and a jerk, and other stuff. And he wants to kill me!" She said the last part soflty, knowing the little ones were around.

"What I meant was, if he still loves you, maybe, this once, he wont?" She said, trying to sound hopeful. If he was that serious in his job, he would have already approched her.

That was... If he could find her.

"Maybe. But it would also give him hope if I begged." Ice said. "And trust me, begging is the only way I could get that hardheaded jerk to listen!"

Soho looked down at her chocolate covered, empty hands. And licked.

Trin rolled her eyes at this and folded her arms over her stomach. Well, Ice had been a little cheared up now with that idea. But... someone like Ice was out to kill her? That was the last thing she wanted. Seriously it was. Ice got scarry enough at times. Her fluffy tail gave a little shiver as it all started to sink in.

Great.

Bav was oblivious to all of this as she munched away on her egg, finishing it off. It was just a little too much chocolate for her liking... but it was good! Now, where was that purple one? He was missing out.

Aleric took a deep breath, then stilled himself. He would fix things. One way or another. With that thought he headed back towards Bavaria, pasting a half smile on his face.

And Silva grunted in his sleep.

"Your chocolate egg things are there." Bav said and pointed at the other, untouched pile next to the one she was sitting by. There was another egg in her hand as she debated eating it, too. "I couldn't find any more of them."

"Oh, um... thank you." He said softly, sitting down next to the pile and reaching for one.

Bav gave him an odd look. Something was bothering him. His voice had lost it's happy-politness, but she wasn't one to ask. After all, she had done her nice 'family' thing and split the eggs with him.

On that note, she reached for another egg to eat. Maybe it would be one of those butterfinger ones.

Prompt
You find a nearly dead fairy. Though she seems to be an adult, she will recover when cared for and form a bond with the caretaker.

The house was nearly empty, Silva had left a while before after a phone call from Dee's bond, Soho was out shopping with Ice and the others, including Walter and Oblivion, only Aleric was at home. The ancient feien sat comfortably on the hope chest, his book opened in front of him. He reached over, turning the page slowly as he read the last few lines on the page.

It was beautiful outside, and a faint, flower scented breeze tugged at the page in his hand. He ignored it, wanting to know what happened to the female ape in the story. But it was never to be. The closet door slammed open just as he was getting to the new page.

"ICE, I--" Shade stood there, wearing a pair of baggy black fighting pants, an unbuttoned white shirt, and a long black leather trenchcoat. He looked around blankly and slightly crookedly. "Ice?" He repeated. "You here?" His eyes ran over the room, almost going over the small purple feien staring at him in complete shock. But then he realized what it was. A tiny smirk pulled at his lips as he crossed the room. "You."

"Ice isn't here." Aleric said, trying to remain calm. Only months of practice kept his voice from cracking. He started to move as Shade looked thoughtful. But before he could get away a large black skinned hand wrapped around him, pulling him up to face level with the killer.

"You gotta do me a favor, little guy." Shade said. "Take me to her."

"I don't want you near my bond." Aleric said.

"..." Shade raised one white eyebrow, not used to such defiance. "You're what... seven inches tall? And you think you can stop me?" He snorted, then shook his head. "Maybe that hangover isn't quite gone yet, after all." He said in a mumble. "If you don't take me to Ice I'll snap your neck. And don't make me do it, because then Ice would get mad at me, and really... It's bad enough, you know?"

Aleric looked at him, trying to follow the logic. "You realize..." He started out slowly. "That Ice loves me, right?"

"She does?"

"Yes."

"Poor girl." Shade said with a shake of his head. "You don't look like you'll live very long at all." He was looking at something over Aleric's head contemplatively. "Oh well. So... what are we waiting for?"

"Are you sure you're not still drunk?" Aleric asked.

"Not completely, no." Shade replied with a grin. "See, after the hangover I had a little hair of the dog, you know?" He headed through the room and down the hall, leaving Ice's house behind as he headed towards town. It was as if he didn't even need Aleric's directions at all, just wanted someone to talk to. "

It's been hell since she left, you know. Kori--She's the bitchy old lady I work for--She's been working me like a slave. So here I come to this dinky little planet, and I realize that Ice is here. How long has she been here, anyway?" He asked.

"I don't know." Aleric said, shoving futilely at his finger. It didn't budge. He looked up as Shade slowed down. "What?" Aleric asked, unable to help his curiosity. He wasn't used to disliking someone, not even his grumpy, rude brother. It was starting to drain his energy, even with the thick, powerful sense of life that radiated off of Shade.

"Where are we?" Shade asked.

"What? I thought you knew where you were going. You were on Gaia earlier, right?" Aleric asked.

"I was. But I was following--" He stopped, shaking his head and narrowing his eyes. It changed his expression completely, and Aleric could fully believe he was a professional assassain. Slowly the feien looked around. To their left was the new Fleet Headquarters, to their right was the rubbled remains of the old shop.

There was a chance... there was a very good chance, actually, that Ice was in the Fleet Headquarters. How had he known? Then he jerked, his eyes widening as he struggled to get free of Shade's grip. Let me go, please." He said.

"Wha?" Shade asked, automatically letting go. "You picked up on the strangeness, too, right?" He asked as Aleric headed at top speed toward the rubble. "It's so small I couldn't--"

Aleric dropped down on one of the clabs of cracked concrete, pushing at the piece of concrete that laid across it, tilted slightly. It was too heavy, even though it was only a small piece. At least small compared to the others at about a foot in diameter. "Please... move." Aleric grunted, wishing that Silva was there, or even-- The concrete lifted into the air, along with his body.

"What the--" Shade started out after a second, staring down at the hollow area that had been under the slab. He plucked Aleric off the concrete, moving him aside before he reached down and picked something up.

For a moment Aleric simply stood where he was, dreading what he thought he was going to see. The magical energy he had picked up had been so faint... so very faint that whoever it had been could easily be dead by now. But he took a deep breath and fluttered over to drop on Shade's wrist, looking blindly at the feien lying there.

"She's like you, right?" Shade asked, startling Aleric. "One of you little... fairy people."

"Feien." Aleric provided as he moved forward, gently touching her throat to see if she had a pulse. It was faint, and erratic. "She's going to die... she must be an ancient."

"Huh?"

Aleric looked around, but there was no one to be seen. "She has to have a bond. A humanoid type. Or she'll die before she even gets the chance to live."

"Huh... Alright." Shade said without a qualm. "Not like it'll last long, anyway."

"This is a life you're talking about." Aleric said, offended. "No matter how short or long it is--"

"You want her to die?" Shade asked thoughtfully.

"Of course not!"

"Then relax. I said I'd do it, didn't I? Think Ice would be impressed?"

The words didn't sink in for Callisto. Nothing was sinking in, really. She was still so surrounded by darkness in her mind, the black, overpowering darkness that had pressed down on her, sucking away her energy. Her body shuddered at the memory, her mouth moving silently as she curled more tightly into a ball. No more darkness... she couldn't... she couldn't take it anymore.

When Aleric caught sight of the tear his heart broke. He dropped down next to the tiny female feien, pulling her into his arms in a comforting hug. "Peace, my sister, peace..." He whispered. "We've found you a bond. You'll be okay."

"Do--don't..." She whispered. "Do--don't take... away... the light." She said as the bond between her and the humanoid holding her started to weave together.

But only Shade could see it happen.
PostPosted: Sun Apr 23, 2006 8:24 am

Twenty minutes later found Shade sitting under a tree, still holding the little female feien cupped in his hands. The longer she stayed there the more energy she had for her nightmares. She kept thrashing and moaning, shivering with pleas to not take the light away. That she couldn't stand the light being taken away.

Aleric held on through it all. But he was riddled with guilt so deep that he couldn't quite hide it. He had given this beautiful, delicate female to a killer. If there was a hell he knew he would surely burn there for all eternity. She was so beautiful that she reminded him of his precious, beloved Arae.

And the idea of bonding Arae to such a low-down, dirty killer such as Shade-- His hold tightened absently, and the feien in his arms jerked awake.

"Could you please..." She started out, tugging at his overly strong hold. "Stop trying to break me?" The words came out automatically, including the irritated tone. She blinked as it hit the air, then blinked again as Aleric automatically let go.

She looked around, taking in the setting, the feien next to her, and finally, the black skinned male holding her. First she looked at his hand, wondering why it was an odd thing to be standing on, then her eyes traveled up his arms, over his broad chest, and to his face.

There were white stripes on his cheek from the bottom of his red eyes to his chin. His white hair contrasted starkly with his pitch black skin, giving him a strange appearance indeed. And he was looking at her strangely. She propped her hands on her hips and glowered up at him. "Who, exactly, are you, and where do you get off looking at me like that?" She demanded.

"He's your bond." Aleric said numbly. "He saved your life."

Callisto blinked.

"Do you have a name?" Aleric asked, trying to see if she remembered anything at all from the past. He hadn't. She looked over at him, shoving her long, messy hair over her shoulder and crossing her arms over her chest.

"No, I do not have a name. I don't even know who you are, or who he is, or what a bond is in the first place!" She pointed at Shade with a dramatic flair. "And he is far too big!"

Actually, Shade was only 5'10, but he supposed that was pretty big for someone not even six inches tall. "Callisto." He said abruptly.

"What?" Callisto demanded. "Please God tell me he at least speaks English."

"Your name. It's Callisto." Shade explained with a happy grin. "She's a professional singer that's a real ball-buster if the news is to be believed."

"Ball... buster?" Callisto repeated in confusion.

"Yeah, she's a royal babe, too." Shade went on, not paying attention to the question she asked. "For such a little thing, you're really gorgeous, aren't you?"

"Well... thank you, I suppose." Callisto said, once more pushing at her hair. It was driving her crazy. She would need a hairbrush. And soon. She looked down at herself, critically eyeing her body for a moment, then peering over her shoulder to look at her back. She fingered the wings that draped down her back, approving of their silky, yet thick feel with a murmur.

Aleric hesitated. She was very... vain, wasn't she? But still, he had given her to--

"Here." Shade said, plucking one of his hairs from his head and handing it to her. It was as thick as rope compared to hers, and it was a lot softer than it looked, she noticed as she pulled her own hair back and tied it off.

"Thank you." She said, sticking her nose slightly in the air. "But I would prefer a hairbrush."

"We'll hit a toy store." Shade said with a nod. He always had been a sucker for pretty ladies, no matter what size they were. "My name's Shade, by the way." He said as he got to his feet with his free hand.

She went still. Then repeated slowly. "Shade?"

"Mmhmm."

Aleric stayed silent, picking up on her worry, but not knowing what to say to make her relax. It would only get worse once she realized just what Shade really was.

"Does that mean you're a--a dark elemental?" She asked. "No, no way, no how, I will NOT accept a dark elemental as my bond, I refuse, I--"

"I don't have an element." Shade said. "At least not like you." Although he was very good in the dark, he thought dryly.

"Unfortunately..." Aleric said, "We don't have a choice of what bonds we take when reborn."

"Reborn?" She repeated.

"Yes. You're an ancient feien. Like me." Aleric said. "We came from stones. We died before the feien of now were born."

Callisto went silent. Not only did she remember nothing, now she was being told she was an old lady? When she had only been alive for a day or two at most? "I need a mirror." She said finally. "Get me a mirror!" She demanded of Shade.

Shade shrugged and headed for the nearest water fountain, letting her step onto the concrete and look down at herself.

She stared for a moment, touching her face then turning to look at her back. She was silent for so long that both males hesitated.

"...So?" Shade asked.

"Not a wrinkle in sight!" She said with an arrogant smile.

If Aleric had been a cartoon he would have sweatdropped.

Return of Ruya
Silva trailed down the hall, chewing on his toothpick thoughtfully, a slight scowl pulling at his lips. Why did s**t like this keep happening to him? Honestly, it was as if he had a giant sign on his back with the words "Screw Me Over" written on it.

Dee had gone crazy, and there was some sort of conspiracy going on somewhere that he didn't quite understand, and dammit all, he didn't want to get dragged into it! All he wanted was a good snog, a beer, and maybe a trip through the door or two. Maybe a beach this time if he could arrange it. He could go for a surfing trip.

But instead here he was. Like always. Dammit. He wondered where Aleric was.

Raising a hand to brush her hair back firmly behind one ear and then reaching up to ensure the wind hadn't blow her hair into a mess around the tiny wings in her hair, Ruya waited for the door to the HQ to open. When it did, she drifted through and into the reception area on a slight current of air. She landed lightly on the desk there and licked her lips lightly. The summer sun combined with her fangs had made them a bit chapped.

She didn't have apurpose for being that the HQ other than the idle wish to have someone to talk to.

Silva went perfectly still as he belatedly picked up the magic signature. He had been distracted. And now he was about to pay for it.

Then he almost laughed at himself, shaking his head. Yeah, it was Ruya. But it wasn't HIS Ruya. His Ruya was gone, and he was with Averno now. Whoever this feien was, she wasn't who she used to be.

So he fingered his toothpick, slapped his smirk firmly into place, and headed down the hall and into the waiting room, only glancing at her casually as he crossed the room. Slowly.

She was an adult again, it seemed. Huh...

Behind Silva, the door to Hamada's office opened and suddenly voices were audible, the effect similar to turning on a television broadcast in mid-sentence.

"--think we should pursue the feien we have active security logs on first," came Geiseric's voice, and a moment later Geiseric himself, riding on Gunn's shoulder.

"Uh huh," nodded Gunn. It was funny, really, how easily the six-foot human followed the little feien's lead.

"We'll have to check in with Autry. Where did he say he was going? Ah! Ruya, good to see you, we've just completed another statement for your perusal." Geiseric switched his focus from Gunn to the two other feien without any pause, making it sound as if the two topics were one.

Ruya's eyes had been caught by the feien moving across the room, but before she had a chance to try and attract his attention or speak to him, Gunn and Geiseric emerged from an office down the hall.

"Interesting," Ruya said, shifting her attention. "I hope you're finding that the missing feien are all well. I'd hate to think they were in trouble. Or causing it," she amended, clasping her hands in front of her.

Feeling like she should attempt to include this other feien, who she reasoned was probably the one making the statement. Silva, perhaps? No, she dismissed that thought. It would be quite the coincidence to have heard him spoken of and then to see him.

"So," she said, trying to think of something to say. "Are you the feien who just gave a statement?" She directed this comment in Silva's direction, not sure if he would hear it.

He looked at her for a moment, fingering his toothpick. "Yeah. I am. Name's Silva." And the clincher. "You?"

Of course both Gunn and du Pont knew that he knew who she was, so they could blow up the question into something that it damn well wasn't. At least, he didn't think it was. He was just acknowleding her choice.

She didn't want to remember him, well fine. Then he wouldn't remember her.

Ah, so he was Silva. Ruya paused for a moment at that revelation, taking the time to study him carefully.

"I am Ruya," she said, and then without bothering to think about it she continued, "but I think you probably already know that."

She felt slightly nervous, as she was finding to be the norm for meeting people who knew her already.

"Only your name, darlin." He drawled. "I don't know you anymore." He glanced over at du Pont, looking thoughtful. "When you say you're going after the missing feien... you mean you'll hunt them down like dogs?"

"Of course not!" said Geiseric. "Why on earth would we--"

"This is a missing persons investigation," said Gunn quietly. He was looking at the floor and disassembling a pen with his hands.

Well, Silva seemed to take her amnesia well. Ruya gave him an absent-minded half smile, relieved to find that as she had suspected Sunil had been lying about her relationship about this feien.

His accusation to Gunn and Geiseric though made her sigh. Honestly, why did people seem to have such a problem with authority?

"So what if they did?" She asked, a bit confrontational. "My understanding is that as Fleet citizens we probably enjoy certain resources, so is it such a cost to pay to have them aware of our locations?"

"More than resources," interrupted Geiseric. "Feien Services has become concerned that the missing feien may in fact be the result of unsatisfactory bonding situations. We're looking for them for their own safety."

Silva looked at her, his eyes narrowing slightly. "You realize some of us didn't ask for the Fleet to come in and change everything. Some of us don't mind remembering s**t." He bit back a curse, looking away. "Forget I said that."

He looked at du Pont again, once again realizing how naive the kid was. Sure, he looked like an adult, but-- "I don't care if you hunt them down like dogs. Or if you find them new bonds, or whatever. Just sayin, don't lie to me. I don't like bein' told one thing and seeing something else happen. If you were gonna hunt them down then tell me straight. I kinda liked Ursa. Doesn't happen often."

Geiseric opened his mouth, but as usual Gunn held the feien back in his quiet way. "We're not hunting anyone down," he said. "If you're concerned for the safety of your friend, I would never allow harm to come to a feien." Gunn's mouth tightened and his shoulders stiffened. He stopped fiddling with the pen.

Alarmed, Geiseric rolled to his feet and said, "Billy--"

"Excuse me," said Gunn quickly, turning so fast Geiseric barely had the time to launch himself into the air. Gunn paused three strides away and looked halfway back. "I'll be right back, Eric." He promptly disappeared into the bathroom.

Geiseric stared after Gunn, dumbstruck. It had been a rather sudden launch, enough to shift his uniform sideways around his neck. He adjusted the cloth so his rank bar was in the front again and tried not to look as unsettled as he felt.

"I'll hold him to that." Silva said coldly, thinking of Dee's words once again. Then he looked at du Pont, raising an eyebrow slightly.

"It's easier to look tough when you're sitting on that big guy's shoulder, isn't it?" He asked, with that dry tone that meant he was giving the kid a hard time. Not that du Pont would know that, no doubt. But the faintest traces of amusement danced in his eyes. He ignored Ruya for the moment.

There was the subtlest change in du Pont's demeanor now that Billy was gone. He straightened, done fixing his uniform, and looked Silva in the eye. "I've never found the size of a human to be intimidating," he said darkly.

"True." Silva said thoughtfully. He leaned back in the air, as if reclining there. "Tell me... what do you get out of this little trip? The chance to run around in uniform, maybe? Or do you really care about us... Gaia feien?" His derisive tone suggested he doubted it.

Geiseric glanced at Ruya as he answered. "As a Security officer, it is my duty to ensure the safety of the citizens of the Fleet. I'm doing my job. But I'm sure you already know the importance of work. Tell me, what do you do for a living?" The tone was innocent enough, but somehow Silva got the impression the question was not.

"I kill things." Silva said easily. "Rats, snakes, feien. But damned if it just doesn't get me the fancy outfit. Maybe I should look into asking people questions for a living." It was making him loosen up, actually. This little argument.

"An exterminator, then?" said Geiseric, with overly-stressed interest that suggested he was patronizing Silva. "Have you killed many feien? Does it pay well?"

Watching the two male feien snark at eachother, Ruya spaced out abit to wonder if her first impression had been wrong. It did seem perhaps that this Silva was angry she didn't remember him. Which was absolute crap as far as she was concerned, since it wasn't her fault. Or she didn't think it was, since she couldn't remember making the decision.

Anyway, she was annoyed.

"Do you kill things as a service to others, Silva, or because you enjoy it?"

"It's a bit of both. It's a service that I enjoy." Silva admitted. "The last feien I killed earned me the lives of three juvenile girls." He said, looking thoughtful. "Including my own. What's your job earn you, du Pont?"

"Respect," said Geiseric, so simply and eloquently it was worthy of envy.

"And the uniform is rather nice," Ruya added.

"We're actually getting in new feien uniforms soon," said Geiseric, secretly pleased at the compliment. "My uniform is merely a prototype."

The bathroom door opened and Gunn emerged, tugging the creases out of his jacket and patting his tie down flat. He seemed refreshed.

Silva choked and looked away before he started laughing. It was a loud, honest laugh that came straight from the gut and made him bend over to try and contain it. But then he stopped, his grin fading into a smirk as he looked at them.

"I also train kids to fight now." He said with amusement still in his eyes. "But hell, I guess that might not earn me the uniform, either."

"And adults?" Ruya said. "Sunil mentioned something about Aleric, with whom I've been told you share a bond, and an invitation to train."

Gunn rejoined the conversation as a silent observer, wondering what the joke had been to cause Silva such mirth.

Geiseric just rolled his eyes. All the training in the world could not compare to the education the inquisitor had thanks to the Fleet, and that included combat.

"If they need it." He said, not showing his surprise at the offer. "Sunil used to know how to fight. But hell, all the change made her weak." He went on, looking at her for a moment, then he looked back at du Pont, not wanting to follow that conversation until he had time to think.

"But whatever do you need that training for?" asked Geiseric. "Is there some great menace that lurks here on Gaia?"

If Gunn were a feien, his ears would have perked up. As it was, his chin lifted slightly and his eyes, directed towards the window, unfocused slightly as his mind set to thinking.

So she claims," Ruya said, narrowing her eyes. She didn't really want to get into the topic any further either, since she was starting to feel very out of the loop.

Silva looked at du Pont. "About two months ago we had a little drugged cupcake situation going on. It wound up with three little girls tied up and bleeding to death by a ******** psycho named Cascati. I killed the b*****d, but the girls were helpless and stupidly thinking the same thing you are. That there's nothing to be worried about on Gaia."

"Maybe there isn't. Now."

"Drugged cupcakes," said Gunn before Geiseric could reply. "The incident that prompted Feien Services to take a stronger interest in the feien here on Gaia." He was twitching again, drumming his fingers together.

Geiseric drew himself up. "Naturally," he said authoritatively, "if the Fleet had been allowed to take stronger action or been called upon sooner for assistance, the whole debacle could have been avoided."

"I'm not risking it." Silva said with a shrug. "I'll knock some sense and fighting skills into these brats if it kills me. And it's a hell of a lot better for them than sitting around thier bond's house looking pretty. We get them fit, teach them to spar, and might even get a few games of football out of them."

Gunn, drifting into whim, said lightly, "I wanted to investigate that." He blinked, returning to reality. "What difference would fighting skills have made? From what I read, the problem was an ingested toxin."

Ruya remained silent, trying not to look too surprised to hear about people almost dying from drugged food. She privately agreed with Gunn, she wasn't sure that learning to fight would stop people from drugging feien, but as she didn't know any of the details she couldn't say for sure.

"Why doesn't the Fleet offer services to train feien? I assume that the Fleet feien receive some sort of instruction about their magic, defending themselves, recognizing bad situations, etc."

After a moment, she added, "And if you were an instructor Silva, perhaps they'd give you a nice uniform too." She couldn't help but smile.

"The fighting training will make the little bastards figure out that there IS danger out there." Silva said as if it made perfect sense. "They learn that they're not invulnerable, they might do something less stupid. And cupcakes aren't the only threat. There's some mean a** birds and dogs out there."

He had run into a couple of those, as well. "And then there's other feien. You might not wanna believe this, but not all of us are nice to begin with."

"So you want to train feien to fight against each other?" said du Pont, unable to mask the disgust in his voice.

Silva looked at him as if he was an idiot. "Yeah. I train them to fight against each other. And you really wanna know why? Because every once in a while a feien gets so damn strong that something happens called 'Berserk.'" He drawled. "And they don't have complete control of it just yet."

"That's why I'm damn well going to have those kids know how to keep from getting killed long enough to get away." His eyes were cold. Because he was talking about himself.

Gunn took a deep breath, a sound that seemed far louder to the assembled feien than it would have to a group of humans. "When you increase the weapons accessible to the public, you don't end up with a safer public. You end up with more violent crime. What you're doing is reckless. You're enabling greater cruelty. Even if it were your intent that the skills only be used to defend, you have no way of ensuring it."

His disapproval was obvious. There was a heavy frown on the human's face as he looked out the window and towards the skyline of Barton Town.

"It's too dangerous," said Gunn, voice so low it was almost a whisper.

"I had read studies like that had been conducted with humans, but it is possible that they aren't directly applicable to feien." Ruya said thoughtfully. "Does anyone in the Fleet conduct socio-psychological studies with feien?"

"Not specifically," said Geiseric, "but psychologically, I've seen no difference that feien are any different from humans."

Silva looked at Gunn. Then he shook his head, relaxing slightly. "I'd agree." He said slowly. "If the students weren't four little girls and a boy that's there to flirt." He shrugged. "Although training Sunil might be damn stupid on my half."

He went on. "Unless I trained them for a year or two, they'll never get to the point I'm at. Even then Aleric's still not there. I'm the only weapon people should worry about. But I'm not cracked enough to stick in a padded room just yet."

Gunn's brow creased. "How do you keep track of your students, to make sure they don't use the skills you give them to hurt other feien?" Not having feien attacking each other seemed to be an important point for Gunn.

"Interesting," Ruya noted. "I would have thought perhaps the clear physical differences and our lack of procreational gender would have led to some deviations from human behavior. Perhaps it has something to do with our living among them."

She was off in her own little world.

Geiseric silenced himself from pointing out that plenty of humans never procreated even though they had the capability. (Gunn was a good example.) He was more interested in hearing about Silva's so-called training.

"Well, Soho's my little girl." Silva said after a brief moment of thought. "She's also a bit of a ditz, more likely to want to cuddle than to fight. Hell, only reason she's learning is because her friends are there. Marne kisses every person she meets on the lips. Too damn bubbly to attack people without cause... Gala wouldn't hurt a fly unless it was threatening someone she cared for, and Bruns..."

He hesitated on that one. "Bruns I'll have to keep an eye on." He admitted. "But I'm hoping he might be good for a spar. If he ever learns how to move faster than a turtle, that is."

"So you only train feien with little to no predilection for violence? What reason then do these feien have for seeking out combat training?" Geiseric settled back down on Gunn's shoulder as he spoke. Let Silva interpret what he may from the motion; it was merely habit on Geiseric's part.

Silva almost choked on his toothpick as he went back to the reason for the training. "It's because Marne thinks Soho and she should get married." He said bluntly. "I'm not against girls with girls or anything, but Marne... well, she's a bit of a... moron as far as I can tell. But if she's going to be spending time with Soho, I'd rather have them together where I can keep an eye on them."

The stressed father look that crossed his face would have provided many a feien with blackmail material had they seen it. "Gala wants to impress her bond, who from all I can tell is a bit of a b***h, Bav's there because she can't beat me, and Bruns is there to flirt with Soho and Marne. Make sense?"

"No," said Geiseric, "it sounds like you're only 'training' them so you can assert your own superiority by monitoring their skills. The only feien on Gaia who seems to pose them any threat is you."

"Already did that." Silva said with a shrug. "They asked for training themselves. Hell, it's really, Aleric, Nick and Nack that are actually doing the sparring part. Nick and Nack being a few animal boys that I raised."

He looked at du Pont. "Maybe you should come see the training yourself sometime. Make your conclusions then."

"Yes, I'd like that," said Geiseric, a bit of anger in his voice. He hardly considered that an answer to his accusation. Perhaps if he could talk to Silva again without Gunn he could get a straight answer.

Picking up on Geiseric's annoyance, Gunn warned, "Eric..." It would not be good for the other inquisitor to get distracted or start obsessing over something. "I don't suppose I could come and see, too? When the investigation is over." So much for Geiseric's straight answer.

"Sure. The boys promised them a soccer game after Friday's training. We'll do it on the back porch." Silva said with a shrug. If du Pont wanted to think he threatened the kids, well, hell, who was Silva to stop him from it? He'd see soon enough at the training.

Neko quietly opened the door ajar, gold eyes peering curiously inside of the 'new' headquarters. For once reason or another, she'd found it rather difficult to get this far; mostly being unsure of whether or not this was the right place, and partly because of the reason she was coming. Ares had mentioned the place had changed, but the demon hanyou never expected it to have changed this much. The place was more like some sort of office now instead of a shop, and everything seemed very organized. ...Perhaps that was for the better. But what happened to Em in order for all of this to happen in the first place?

Opening the door enough to fit through, she closed it gently behind herself after stepping inside, taking a better look around the room. This was an odd feeling... It just didn't feel right to her at all. So orderly... it was no wonder Tahki had gotten bored when she came here. Neko looked to Raylan for a moment, making sure the small feien hadn't dropped off her shoulder anywhere by accident. He insisted on coming along, even though she'd requested them all to stay behind and keep a close eye on the bloom in an attempt to keep Roswell away from it with the paints. Hopefully Merri's height would be intimidating enough...

Neko's arrival brought a swift end to the conversation, which was probably for the best since it was doubtful there was any more mileage to be had from the subject. "Can we help you?" Geiseric called to the woman, speaking on behalf of the whole group. (Never mind that Silva probably had no interest in helping.)

Silva snorted, then glanced over at Ruya one last time, not knowing... or really wanting to say anything. But he grunted to them all. "See ya." And flew past Neko's head and down the stairs.

He figured he'd see them soon enough, and he needed to talk to Aleric about the offer to train Sunil. The sooner the better.

((A quick recap and some links. Shade is back in town, when he reached Ice's house all he found was the ancient feien, Aleric. He took Aleric with him to town to try and find Ice, but got distracted at the remains of the old Feien shop, where he found and bonded with an ancient feien named Callisto.

Distracted by the new feien, who was traumatized by being stuck under a slab of cement for so long, he took her to the Fleet Headquarters, where he met Jack Bierce. After Callisto had gotten cleaned up and found out what Shade did for a living, they left and are now heading to the hotel for Shade to get cleaned up.

It sounds innocent enough, unless you remember that Shade is a professional killer. And now everyone is worried about what he's going to do next. For good reason.

His next hit is Ice Queen's adopted sister, Trinityblue, after all.

Shade's Journal can be found here:
http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=2764586

We start off where Aleric is leaving Shade and Callisto, feeling guilty that he allowed another ancient to be bonded to a murderer, and in a hurry to find the females who are shopping.)

Walters eyes were firmly fixed on the little red and black feien fluttering around his head. He reached out, palm open, in an attempt to grab the little creature, but she avoided his grasp even more easily than the one he wanted to chew on with the big wings. But Walter was not discouraged. He gave a gurgling little laugh and tried again, intent on seeing her closer. The bright colors and happy sounds that came from her just were so perfect!

"Ooooh! I want that!!" Soho said, dodging yet another grasping baby hand and flashing in front of Ice's face to point at yet another piece of something shiny. In this case it was a Tinkerbell purse that was large enough for her to fit inside.

"For your new room?" Ice asked. "Well, go ahead and look inside, but I don't think--"

The feien hopped into the bag, severly disappointing Walter with this disappearing act, then came out a second later, earning a cry of delight and a clapping of tiny hands. "No, it's too dark." Soho said with a pout. "But it's really pretty!"

"Why don't we keep looking?" Ice asked. This was the fourth shop they had been to that day, and she was starting to get a headache from all the people that were surrounding her, but she smiled and kept walking. Of course the headache might have been coming from the constant steel against steel sound in the basket of the cart. Oblivion was making her way through yet another set of perfectly good socket wrenches. Ice made a note to get another set when they headed for the hardware store.

Jade had left them as soon as they passed the library, saying something about wanting to get some research done for her next paper. but Ice had a sneaking suspicion that it was more to do with the fox boy that read for kids after school, than for school itself. And Kisa... well Kisa wasn't saying a word. In fact, when Ice glanced over her shoulder, she wasn't shocked to find the tiger woman reading a book as she trailed along behind them.

"How about that?" Soho asked, taking a brief second to sit on the startled looking Walter's head as she pointed. She was gone before the knowledge that she was in grabbing distance filtered to his short little arm. He pouted for a moment, then turned his body to watch her.

"It's a mirror shelf." Ice said. "All you would have to sleep on is that little slat of wood underneath the mirror. And you're going to grow sometime..."

"Awww..." Soho said, still admiring herself in the mirror. "But maybe I won't be too tall!"

"And maybe you will be." Ice replied. "We can't take the chance. For all we know you'll be as tall as Silva!"

"Nobody's as tall as Silva!" Soho replied.

"Oh, I'm sure there's some out there." Ice said, only to glance up in surprise for some reason. Soho blinked as she followed the line of sight, watching in confusion for a long moment before Aleric appeared, racing towards them.

"Ice!" He said, pulling to an abrupt halt in front of her. "Ice, we... we have a problem."

Ice looked down at the calmest feien she had ever met, watching as he stumbled slightly in mid air and took a deep, shuddering breath. "Aleric?" She asked.

"Shade's back in town." Aleric said, his body stiffening at the thought. "And he's been bonded to an ancient feien."

For a second, for a brief second, Ice's heart jerked and pounded against her chest. A thrill rushed through her, and her palms got sweaty. Shade was back, Shade had--

She jerked back to reality with a sudden, heartwrenching thud. But none of this showed on her face. It was too bad that Aleric was an empath. "Ice?" He asked.

"Soho, honey, I think shopping for a new room for you is going to have to wait." She said, not replying to the question in Aleric's voice. She gently grabbed Walter's hand before it reached Aleric, leaning forward to kiss the hand. "No feien tasting today, buddy." She said with a teasing smile that didn't quite reach her eyes.

Walter went somber, looking up at her for a long moment before he raised both arms in a sign of wanting to be picked up. Ice did, and Kisa pocketed her book, pulling the heavy daemon from the basket with only a tiny grunt.

"Where is he now?" Ice asked Aleric, looking around the shop as if she expected Shade to show up at any moment. And strangely enough, that was completely possible.

"Heading towards our house, I believe." Aleric said, glancing over at Soho for a second. "Silva is nowhere to be found. He got a call from Dee's bond, and left early this morning. But hopefully he's gotten back..."

"From her bond?"

"Yes."

"Well I'm sure it's nothing important." She lied through her teeth. Bonds didn't usually call. "But we need to find Shade. Before he finds TB." She paused, looking down at the baby in her arms. "And to think, you're the only one NOT causing me trouble today."

He gurgled a little laugh, reaching for her hair.

Soho stayed silent, wondering just what her beloved sister's bond was calling for... maybe it was about the party! Oh, that would be good!

It had been... a serious b***h of a day, Silva thought as he came through the back windoe of the house. He tossed his overly chewed toothpick out the window, then picked up one of the spares that Nack had set up in a little bottlecap, clamping it between his teeth with a grunt. The skunk boy said something about it being more sanitary this way.

Silva was just glad he didn't have to deal with finding them. He had gotten all of two hours sleep between the meeting with Dee and the statement. He was tired, bitchy, and not feeling up to the little argument he planned on having with Aleric as soon as he found the ancient. All he really wanted was a drink and another six hours of sleep.

With that he headed down the hall and into the kitchen, only to jerk to a halt as Shade looked up from where he was raiding the fridge. And Silva said the first thing that came to mind. "What the ******** are you doing here?"

"Making a ham sandwich. Want one?" Shade asked. "Turns out that they don't take creds on this planet." He said before turning back to his rummaging. "She never did like pickles... how can you have a good sandwich without pickles?" He demanded as he dug deeper.

"Get out." Silva said coldly.

"You can find it?" Shade asked, pulling back. "I tried talking Callisto into going in to look, but she won't--"

It was then that Silva noticed the small feien sitting on the black skinned male's shoulder. His eyes narrowed and his scowl became more pronounced. "This day just keeps getting better, doesn't it?" He drawled, snapping his new toothpick in two between his teeth. "Let me guess, you've already killed Trinityblue?"

"Huh? Not yet, actually. Keep getting distracted." Shade said, clearly giving up on the pickles and taking the rest of the things to the counter. "I figure I'll find her soon enough. These Gaia people don't seem to go off planet very often."

"They also don't have to deal with ******** murderers very often, either." Silva said coldly.

"That's too bad, actually. ******** a murderer is a great way to get your kicks." Shade said, only starting to show that Silva's attitude was pissing him off. A tiny, evil grin pulled at his lips. "Your bond sure seemed to like it."

"I'll KILL YOU!" Silva shouted, slaming towards the other male, only to get batted aside.

"STOP IT!" Callisto shouted, getting to her feet on Shade's shoulder and fisting her tiny hands at her sides. Her voice boomed for someone so tiny. "Shade! Apologize! You! Stop acting like such an a**! And I mean NOW!"

Silva looked at her. "Stay out of this, lady. You don't know what you're dealing with."

"No, she's right." Shade said, leaning back against the counter and eyeing his sandwich. "I shouldn't have said that about Ice. She'd kick my a** if she heard it." He paused. "A lot of things have happened that you don't know anything about... um... Silva, right?"

Silva just stared at him through cold yellow eyes, waiting for a chance to attack. Shade didn't look too bothered by the lack of reply. "I screwed up, and she left me. For twenty-five years I couldn't find her. Couldn't apologize, or figure out just what the problem was to begin with--"

"The problem..." Ice's voice made them all turn as she stepped into the doorway. There was a blonde baby perched on her hip and a tiger striped woman behind her carrying a metal dragon looking creature with glowing red eyes. "Is that you're an assassain, Shade."

"Ice..." He said, taking an unconscious step forward.

"Is that the ancient?" Ice asked, jerking him to a halt with the question. "On your shoulder. You must be Callisto." She addressed the feien. "I'm sorry you were dragged into this."

Callisto looked from her bond to this white skinned female, then over at Silva with a sense of confusion. It was like she had been dropped into a full fledged soap opera and wasn't one of the main players. She wasn't sure she liked that.

But Walter's eyes were on Shade. He broke into a babbling conversation, holding out his arms to the man with an open invitation to take him from his mother. Shade grinned and stepped forward, picking up the boy before Ice could react and perching him on his hip with a slightly awkward motion. "Hey, kiddo. You been a good boy lately?" He asked.

Walter grinned up at him shamelessly.

"Give me back my baby, Shade."

Shade, Interrupted
"Hey! Hey! Somebody get me Sohie or I'll make ambu - "

Marne Lukas-Hein skidded into the kitchen through the back window, proving both a serious lack of both luck and timing. She tumbled on the top of the counter in a 9.9 somersault, skidding, trying to stop in midair once she saw the tableaux; when she saw the man standing in the kitchen with Walter, and the adult feien on his shoulder; and Ice, and Kisa, and Silva. It was not a scene that provoked a cheerful laugh track.

"Okay, um, wow," she said, picking herself up with difficulty and stopping the pickle jar from wobbling. "Wow, sorry. Uh, you guys just go right back to whatever you were doing, that's cool. Um. Don't mind me."

It was too late. Everyone turned to look at Marne, and Shade, being immune to big dramatic climaxes, took the time to take a large bit of his sandwich, then offer it up to Callisto. Who, though starving, shook her head. It wasn't an eating time! At least if this was her drama it wouldn't be!

"Marne!!" Soho said, peeking out from behind Ice before rushing over to her friend. "Aleric said your bond called and I thought it was about the party and now we're standing in the kitchen with Shade. He's a killer! And I... don't know who she is." She stopped, looking at Callisto blankly.

"Her name is Callisto. And unfortunately she's bonded to Shade." Aleric provided. Silva turned to glower at his brother.

"We need to--"

"Talk, yes, I know." Aleric said, waving off the comment.

"Hey, cool, I never saw a murderer before!" said Marne, now feeling impressed and awed that she had gotten to see one in person and not on America's Most Wanted. "I guess I - Soho! Sohie."

She grabbed Soho's shoulders, eyes blazing, suddenly as serious as she had been cheerful. "Soho, did Dee tell you? Did Dee tell you that she was going questing? Did she send you a note or tell you she was going? Did she say? Did she tell?"

Her mind wandered off again, possibly in happy places where bunnies roamed, as she focused on Callisto. She hadn't really before. "Hey. Hey! You're hot! Do you want to be my girlfri - wait, I don't get to ask that any more. Also it would be kind of Mrs. Robinson as you are probably like ten years old or something. You're mad hot, though! Are we having an argument? I'm on Silva's side! I'm a little suck-up!"

"Dee's going questing?" Soho repeated blankly, completely ignoring the hitting on Callisto. She had expected that. "She didn't--"

"She's not--" Silva stopped, thiking it through. "Dee's a little... preoccupied, darlin'. But why are you here?" HE ignored the sucking up comment.

And Callisto blinked as the song "Mrs. Robinson" flashed into her mind. "What does coo coo ka choo have to do with me being... old?" She asked Shade in a dramatic whisper.

Shade almost choked on his sandwich.

"Soho, baby, why don't you and Marne go play in my room?" Ice asked, not liking how close any of her babies were to Shade, especially Walter. (Although her heart tried to betray her by whispering about how right he looked with children...)

"Okay," said Marne, distracted, taking Soho's hand; Ice was pretty much up there with God and the Pepsi Man as who to obey, but - it was wrong, Marne's mouth twisted, her green eyes narrowed as she remembered Rose's trembling voice. "Okay but Silv, Mom said that Dee never came home and that Autry dude said that she had gone questing but that's just dumb because everybody knows Dee's too scared to go questing and besides she would have told Mom and me and Soho which is why I asked - why is that murderer holding Walter? Is he his baby daddy? Because I saw that once. Dude, get a DNA test, you totally don't look anything like him."

Silva went still. Then he bit back a curse. She had gotten herself killed, no doubt. Dammit all... "Get going, darlin. We'll talk about it after this is over."

"You think?" Shade asked, resituating Walter on his hip. "It's the tail, right? But hell, nobody can be perfect." He said, twitching the end of his long black lizard tail slightly as he bit back a laugh.

"You didn't answer my question, Shade..." Callisto said, getting irritated. "And I am not old. I was just reborn."

"Marne!" Ice almost shouted. "Go!"

"But I'm confused..." Soho said. "He DOESN'T look anything like Walter!"

And Shade started to laugh. Hard.

Marne huffed a little; she was still young and happy and thought Burgundia immortal, and Silva capable of fixing everything, and that the most important stuff was on Primetime. She dragged Soho over and hovered in the doorway, trying to think up something suitably crushing.

"Okay," she said, "I guess we'll just leave you all here to have sex!"

When that didn't really impress anyone, she pulled Soho away, obviously headed for Ice's room and greener pastures. "Come on, let's go do something fun."

"That girl..." Silva started out, fingering his toothpick. "Has some serious issues."

"I don't know, I'm up for it!" Shade siad, earning a dark look from the rest of the family. "Ok, fine, let's talk seriously. Where are the pickles, Ice? How can you not have pickles in the fridge??"

"That's serious?" Callisto asked.

"It's very serious!"

"I hate pickles!" Ice replied. "And give me back my baby!"

"He's happy here, aren't you, kiddo?" Shade asked the drooling baby against his chest. "See?"

Soho blinked, looking over her shoulder at the kitchen to try and hear what was going on. Then she had an idea. "C'mon." She said, flitting at top speed out the window and around to the kitchen window, still holding Marne's hand. "We'll listen from here."

Marne was more than happy to do this; they curled up in the windowsill, she absently counting Soho's fingers as they hid out of sight, but close enough to hear every word that was being said. Maybe they would pursue a career of being cute spies.

"Ice is mad pissed," she whispered. "They don't seem to be having a very dramatic conversation, though."

"Oikay, fine. Then tell me what the problem was. And why didn't you tell me to my face instead of leaving that stupid little note?" Shade asked, taking another bite of his sandwich. "You got any beer?"

"I don't drink." Ice said, almost flinching at the question. "And the note said everything I needed to say."

"Yeah, right." Shade scoffed. "So... what have you been doing for these last twentyfive years?"

Silva jerked, glancing over at His bond and noticing, to his irritation, that Aleric didn't look too surprised. Just how old WAS Ice, anyway?

"This and that." Ice said, her voice deceptively calm. She would get ber baby back. Even if he was faster than she was. "For the first ten... or so years I took up space piracy."

"You're kidding me." Shade said, choking on his food.

"Okay," Marne muttered in Soho's ear, after a moment of deeply impressed silence. "How do you become a space pirate? Because I want to become a space pirate."

"You probably have to say 'Arrr' a lot and have a space ship." Soho whispered back.

Aleric moved slowly across the room, sidling up to his brother and moving so they blocked Shade from the window. They knew that the girls were there. But bringing attention to it wasn't the best idea.

Silva was eyeing the dramatic little diva sitting on Shade's shoulder. When she noticed she gave a little "Hmph!" and crossed her arms over her chest, sticking her nose in the air. It almost made him laugh, regardless of how dramatic the situation was.

"You wouldn't make a good space pirate." Shade said, shaking his head. "No wonder I never heard of you."

"I did good enough. Until I... tried to hijack a marine ship." She muttered the last, flushing slightly.

"You did... what?"

"What's a marine ship?" whispered Marne. "I bet it's underwater. - I wonder how you buy a feien-sized space ship. 'Cause I'd like one."

She made no comment as to the fact that Aleric was blocking most of their viewing space.

"No, marines are these really well built hot guys!" Soho replied, almost bouncing. "Ice has a calender that she hides behind the dresser that has pictures of them posing!"

"Shh!" Aleric said over his shoulder, trying not to laugh. Shade kept staring at Callisto, finally getting her to look back at him. She glared darkly, shoving her hair over her shoulder. She did not like that tall male one bit! And he kept staring at her!

"A marine ship." Ice repeated irritably. "They laughed at us. And some of them offered to teach us how to pilla--" She stopped and glared at him as if it was his fault she was letting this information be known. "Forget it. I don't need to tell you any of this."

"Man I've missed you..." He said, moving forward. Ice watched him, her eyes moving automatically to the happy baby in his arms.

"I want ten marines and a space ship," whispered Marne, but was immediately distracted by Shade and Ice. "Look! Look! He is totally giving her a boyfriend look."

"You think??" Soho asked. "Then they can get married and he can--wait... I'm not sure that's a good thing."

Aleric almost gritted his teeth as he moved back farther, whispering. "You two, please be quiet."

"Sorry, Aleric." Soho whispered just a little too loudly. He sighed.

"Well I haven't missed you!" Ice said, her hands fisting for a second before she reached out and snatched Walter from his hold. She pulled him to her chest almost too tightly, earning a babbled protest. Absently she kissed his head.

"I need a place to stay." Shade said.

"Try hell. I hear it's nice this time of year." Silva drawled. Callisto's glower increased ten fold.

"OMG," said Marne, and actually disgraced herself by saying it; it came out something close to 'omug'. She tried to quiet herself down, mindful of the tone in Aleric's voice, but she was far too excited. "He should stay here and then we can matchmake and stuff. Um. Unless he's an evil murderer. We could dig a hole and make him fall in."

Aleric gave up, just stayed where he was, intent on protecting them even if they DID draw attention to themselves.

"Yeah, but they've got lousy tour guides." Shade replied to Silva's suggestion. "I mean someplace on Gaia. I've got a job--"

"You..." Ice hissed, her change of mood startling him. Sure she had been angry before, but now murder was written on her face. Shade blinked. "You will NOT kill anyone on Gaia." Ice went on, taking a step forward and making him take an unconscious step back. "Especially not Trinityblue!"

"...Huh?"

"What?" Marne was totally confused now. Especially at why anybody would kill Bav's bond. Weird and also lame! Maybe they wouldn't matchmake.

"Do you know him? Because I'm having a hell of a time--" He stopped, his eyes narrowing. "He's your lover?"

"He?" Ice repeated. He thought Trinity was--

"Forget it. I'll find somewhere else to stay." He muttered, raising an arom and pulling his hand down, opening a strange gap in the air. He stepped through the rift, which closed with a tiny spark, leaving the people there staring blankly.

Marne cupped her hands to the glass and yelled openly, attempting to comforting. "I thought TrinityBlue was a girl! But it is okay to be gay!"

"I'm not-- oh forget it." Ice said, turning and handing Walter to Kisa, who hurridly shifted Oblivion to one arm. "I've got to figure out how to stop him. Again."

Nobody had any suggestions to offer as she walked out the door.

Callisto curled a little more tightly into the tree limb corner, watching the door of the bar Shade had just entered with a strange look on her face. Shade had insisted that she stay out here for some reason. She was almost certain that he didn't want her to see him showing off his fighting skills.

Her braid was coming loose slightly, small tendrils of hair curling around her face. She reached up and shoved at one, then wrapped her arms around her waist, wondering just how much Shade planned on keeping from her. And why it mattered.

"Bad luck, darlin'." The voice made her jump and turn, her eyes widening and fear trailing down her spine as the tall dark red feien from Ice's slipped out of the tree's shadow. She moved back unconsciously, trying to figure out what it was about Silva that made her feel so nervous. She was bonded to a killer, by God! This little man was nothing in comparison. At least that's what she was telling herself as she backed up even farther.

Then her eyes narrowed. "Silver, right? Named after your hair no doubt."

"Silva." Silva drawled, fingering his toothpick. "With an A."

"It's nice to know you can spell your own name." She replied with a hint of a bite. "By the looks of you I couldn't tell."

"Ouch. That one almost hurt." Silva said in reply. "You interest me, darlin'. It's been a while since I've been interested in something."

"Unfortunately I can't say the same." Callisto said, waving a hand in the air and looking him over with a curl of her lips. "You're too tall and skinny."

"Oh, not like that." Silva said, taking another step forward. Callisto scooted back again before she even thought of it. What was it about him? It was as if something hung around his body like a cloak... it was... "You're bonded to a killer, right?"

Callisto flinched. But then she tightened her jaw, getting to her feet and staring up at Silva. "And what are you bonded to, hmm? That white skinned female with the baby on her hip?" Jealousy raged through her for a split second. But she lied through her teeth. "Yeah, that's what I would want. To be stuck with a mother." She scoffed.

"A bond doesn't make a feien." Silva said, making her jerk.

"What are you?" She demanded.

"Hmm?"

"WHAT ARE YOU?" She demanded loudly. "What makes you so--so--"

"You're a light element." Silva said, taking another step. "You seem to take it damn serious, too." Callisto refused to take a step back, glaring up at him even when her neck strained with looking up. And he towered over her by almost three inches. Her nose twitched slightly as she picked up his scent.

"If you're looking for a denial you've come to the wrong girl." She told him coldly. That same prickling at the neck came, but so much stronger this time. She could feel it... his magic. And his magic was... tainted and abhorrent to her. "Darkness." She whispered, fisting her hands at her sides.

"Not quite." Silva said with a shrug. "Shadow." He reached up, pushing one tendril of hair behind her ear. She went completely still.

"If you think pawing at me is going to make me like you, you're a very confused feien." She told him.

"I like females, darlin. Big, small, they've got a special place in my heart." Silva said calmly. "But I'm going to tell you something that you should keep in mind."

"That you're a chauvanist?"

Silva almost laughed. But his eyes stayed cold and he leaned down so that his lips were almost brushing hers. "I can kill you." He whispered. "Real easily."

She jumped back, her eyes wide in shock and a fine tremble running over her flesh. There was no doubt in her mind that he was telling the truth. And it made her hate him even more. "Get away from me." She ordered. "Stay away from me."

"Keep your bond away from my family." Silva replied calmly. "A... friendly warning, I guess you could say."

"So telling me you can kill me is friendly." She said, her voice a little more reedy than she had hoped for. "I hate to see what you tell your enemies."

"Hopefully you won't find out." Silva replied, then he backed up, disappearing into the shadows as if he had never been there.

Callisto dropped down on the branch, shivering so hard that her teeth threatened to chatter. What was he? "A monster..." She whispered. "He's a monster..."

"Calli? Baby, I've got the job!" Shade called as he came out of the bar. He went still as he caught sight of her, reaching up and plucking her from the tree. "Calli?" He asked, worry clear in his voice. "Calli are you okay?"

She looked up at him, gulped loudly, then threw herself at his neck, wrapping her tiny arms around his neck as she broke into sobs. She had never had her life threatened before!! It wasn't fair!

"Shhhh..." He whispered, patting her gently and awkwardly. "It's okay. It's all okay... I promise."

"I'll get revenge." She muttered through her tears. "I will!"

Loose Ends and Apologies
Trinityblue was once more at the door step of her sister's, Ice Queen, house. This time she was ringing the doorbell, hitting it repeatedly with an impatient air.

"Would you stop that! It's probably driving them nuts!" Bavaria muttered, sitting on her bond's shoulder once more. Her arms were crossed over her chest as she waited.

"Then Ice should answer the door faster! Especially when I have good news." Trin answered, not at all detured from what she was doing.

"Baseball bat, check... machete, check, porn magazines... check." Ice muttered. Then she looked at Silva, raising an eyebrow. "Do we REALLY need these?"

"Do you want to keep him in place long enough to use that bat?" Silva asked. "It's either that or you pull your shirt up." And he twitched with that, hating the idea even more than she would. Not that Ice noticed.

"Good point... Okay, I think we're ready--" She finally realized that the doorbell was being rang. "Crap. Do you think he's here? No, he wouldn't use the--"

"Just open the door, Ice."

"Oh, oh right." Ice said, reaching and opening the front door.

"I'm going to live!" Trin announced as soon as the door was open enough for the two to see eachother. She then lauched herself at Ice, wrapping her arms around her in a gaint hug.

Bav took off from her shoulder the moment she moved forward and started to hover in the air. Her bond was such a dence....

Ice blinked. "Um... what?"

"Shade! He stopped by my house last night to do his job." Trin started as she walked in, closing the door behind her. She was talking almost possibly to fast for most to understand what she was saying. It was something that happened when she was very excited. "But then he saw a picture of us that I have on my mantle and decided that he didn't want you to hate him forever, so he decided to fake his kill and took one of the pirate-bots, beat it up and all that to take instead. Poor Frank!"

"He also had to cut me for it too." She finished and took a deep breath.

"He... dropped by... last night..." Ice repeated.

"AND YOU DIDN'T TELL ME TILL NOW??!" She shouted angrily right in her sisters face. "YOU'RE LUCKY I DON'T KILL YOU MYSELF!!!"

"You wouldn't answer your cell phone!! I left a message!!! And by the time I got home, it was too late to try again!" Trin shouted back, more in a defencive way than an angry one.

"It wasn't on!" Ice growled. Then she stopped. "But Shade... he... What if someone finds out? Then what will happen? Will someone else come? Will he get in trouble? Oh lord..."

"If someone else comes at least we know what to expect." Silva said after a moment. "And who gives a s**t of he gets in trouble or not. The b*****d deserves it."

"And as long as it's someone else, we wont have to worry about them opening a rift into the room to kill us." Bav spoke now, still hovering in the air and not about to near the two bonds incase they started yelling again.

Trin sighed. "This is why I'm going to have to lay low for a while. I got money saved up anyway. If that does happen.... Maybe Shade'll quit and come help us." She said softly and in a much calmer tone.

"A while?" Ice asked. "But what about the things you've been working on lately? All your advances? Ever since we stopped pirating that stuff's become your life..."

Silva scowled, then moved lower, pulling the playboy mag from Ice's pocket and tucking it under his arm. Then he turned and flew away.

Bav lifted a brow at this, then started to follow him. Where ever he was going, it was probably more interesting than here, talking about stuff she already knew.

"I can still work on them. Just beause I have to lay low doesn't mean I gotta stop." Trin answered and gave a small shrug. "I just can't show it off for the next 50 or so years. Besides, I should probably hit the books again..." The enthusiam in her voice died at that thought. Hitting the books for what she knew would come. Joy.

"Yeah..." Ice said, hesitating. Then she sighed. "Walter should be waking up from his nap. Do you want to meet him and Oblivion? You didn't get to see them much at the Easter egg hunt. Just you know, put all metal you've got on you in this plastic box." She said as she walked to a very high shelf near the door and pulled off the plastic box in question. "Just in case."

Silva tossed the book into the closet before he headed for the hope chest, dropping down on the plush couch that Nick and Nack slept on and leaning his elbows on his knees. His head leaned down, almost hanging.

"What's wrong with you?" Bavaria asked as she landed on the edge of the chest. She took a moment to look around the room again for where the others were, only to return looking at him.

Trin pulled out a few things that were in her pockets, placing them in the box. One was a remotcontrol like device. "Hate to lose that thing." She muttered and gave a sheepish grin as she set it in. "And that should be it. How are things going with him?"

"He's a sweetheart, of course..." Ice said as she led the way down the hall, frowning ever so slightly. "And I love Oblivion, although she's a bit grumpy and shy around new people. It's just when you put the two together... of course they're always together... well..." She glanced over at Trinity, grinning. "They're a bit of a handful."

She pulled open the door to Walter and Oblivion's room, revealing the pair standing at the window, Walter almost halfway out already. "Did I mention their little escapes?" She asked before rushing over to grab the little blonde boy.

Silva glanced up at her, then grunted, running a hand over his face. "Nothing."

"You're a lousy lier." The hope feien muttered, dropping down on the edge of the chest and dangled her feet over the edge, kicking them slightly.

Trin grinned at this, watching as her sister. "Just be glade he can't rift things, or you'd know what mom was going through with us." She teased, walking into the room.

"So true." Ice said as she walked over to her sister, the baby on her hip, Oblivion wheeling along beside her. The daemon paused, sniffing at Trinity suspiciously. Then she moved closer, nosing Trinity's pants, as if-- "I think you forgot something." Ice said casually.

"I said it was nothing, darlin. When I say it's nothing then I mean it's nothing." Silva growled.

"Well you sure aren't actin like it's nothin." Bav bit back, glaring down at him. "If your relieved, then you're sure are actin weird about it all, old man."

Trin blinked and stuck her hand into a pocket, pulling out a few nuts and bolts. "Huh... I did." She then crouched down, holding them out to Oblivion on the palm of her hand. "This what you're looking for?"

Oblivion's eyes went blue as she gently took the nuts and bolts from her, munching away with a screeching sound. "I'm afraid Kisa indulges her." Ice said with a grin. "She gets little snacks like that all the time. I swear she does the sniffing thing just to prompt us."

Walter blabbered something in baby talk and Ice reached into her pocket, pulling out a cookie. The same cookie she had stolen from him earlier. "We had to weigh down the trashcans to keep them from knocking them over." She added as Walter took the cookie then reached for Trinity, urgently.

""I'm not relieved." Silva growled, standing. "Show me what you've learned, girl." He said, motioning for her to follow him as he entered a loose fighting stance.

Now it was time for her to get her a** handed to her. Bav growled lightly, sliding off the edge of the trunk and fluttering so she stood opposite Silva. She moved into a stance that she had learned, glaring up at him. One thing she wasn't about to do was back down from a challange. Especially one he created. She wasn't going to show him weakness.

Trin took Walter into her arms now. "Hello honey. Someone seems happy to see a new face." She said told him in a happy tone. Then gave Ice a grin. "He abandons you so easily, sis."

"Doesn't he just?" Ice asked, shaking her head as she handed him over. "But Oblivion seems to like you, too, of course that might have to do with the metal you carry." She paused. "You want to babysit sometime?" Walter babbled something up at Trinty, telling her about his recent escape attempt, even as he slobbered on his cookie between statements.

And Oblivion waited patiently for another treat.

"Attack me." Silva said.

Bav advanced on him, then spun to deliever a round house kick at him and already waiting for him to counter it. He was good and she wasn't about to undersetimate him. That and her skills were like a grain of sand to him.

"I'd have to do something about blocking off my shop. If Oblivion got in there.... I'd be done for and you know it. She'd be in heaven, though." Trin said when Walter paused in his baby talk. She had no clue as to what he was talking about, but it sounded like it would be interesting. "Take it you would want a night out with your girls?"

Then Trin dug in her pocket again with one hand, seeing if she missed on. Finding one lone bolt, she handed it off to Oblivion, courching once more.

"Jade has a boyfriend." Ice said, grinning slightly. "And Kisa's been looking a little stressed lately, I think she catches more of the escape attempts than I do. But I just thought they'd like a new place to explore."

"That and I'm tired of only my socket wrenches going missing." She added evilly.

Silva blocked it. "Again." He said, not attacking back.

Bav frowned still and touched down only to spin again, putting more force behind her kick this time. The way he had said that seemed like she was to do the same attack again. One she didn't have too much problem in doing.

"Oh that's crewl!" Trin frowned at her sister, standing back up. "But atleast I know what to do with alot of the scrap metal I have now." One hand rubbed Walter's back absently. Then she blinked. "Jade's got a boyfriend? Bout time."

"A college fox boy that reads to the kids up at the library after classes." Ice said. "A bit young, but I guess so is Jade, you know? It's kind of cute, actually. She keeps sneaking out to do 'research.'"

Walter gnawed on his cookie for a moment before making yet another indecipherable comment, which was accented with a little nod.

Oblivion chewed happily on the bolt, hoping that this one would last a while.

"Better. Now a different attack." Silva said.

Bav again touched that foot down while changing her stance as she now threw a jab at his stomach. Even if he was a hell of alot taller than she. It sucked being so little sometimes.

"Oh yeah?" Trin asked to both Ice and Walter as a grin tugged on her lips. Seriously, Walter was adorible! "I can jsut guess at what Jade's 'researching' and I don't think he has to do with books." She said lightly.

"I'm sure it doesn't." Ice replied dryly. "Shall we move to the front room? It's more comfortable." She leaned down, hauling the daemon into her arms. "Ooof... all that metal eating has made you heavier..." She complained to Oblivion. Oblivion looked offended.

"Faster. And harder this time." Silva commanded as he blocked the punch.

"Any harder and I sacerfice my balance." Bav replied with a slight growl in her voice. But she did as he told her, drawing her arm back and throwing another punch with more of her weight behind it, allowing her front leg to slide over the ground for better support.

"You ever wonder where it all goes?" Trin asked curiously, heading for the front room.

"I have no idea." Ice said with a shrug. "For all I know she's using it to grow bigger. There's a lot of things I don't know about these two, actually." She said as she dropped down on the couch, idly running a hand over Oblivion's back to see if she was still nicely oiled.

"Thing is... Over the last couple of weeks I've been having these... strange dreams." She said after a moment. Then she shook her head. "Nah, it's probably stress from the whole Shade problem."

Walter offered TB the last soggy bite of cookie with another bit of baby talk.

"Is your balance that bad?" Silva asked, blocking yet again.

"No, you're just too damned tall! How the hell did you get so tall anyway? Did they feed you merical grow or what?" Bav asked, again bringing her hand back for another hit. Her knucks and shin were stinging from his blocks, but she ignored it.

"Oh, thank you hun." Trin said with a smile and tilted the small hand slightly so she got a small nibble off of the dry part of the cookie. Where ever it had been, she didn't wanna know. Then she looked to her sister. "Dreams? What kinda dreams?"

"Nightmares." Ice said simply as Walter finished off the part that TB hadn't nibbled. "The first one was like... England right when the car was invented. I was attacked by these thugs that I could almost see through... I don't know. It was just strange."

"I turned into an adult." Silva said. "Different hit. And this time attack from the air."

Bav gave a snort, already stopping that attack and hopping into the air. She flew down at him with another punch.

Trin lifted a brow at her sister. "Dreams normally are weird and sometimes don't make sense. What happened?"

"They attacked me. And right before it got ugly Walter woke me up crying." Ice said. "But the more I think about it, it probably is because of stress." She glanced over at Walter, smiling at his earnest look. "I don't think Walter would know what a nightmare was, actually. He's usually pretty happy."

Silva blocked again. "Again."

Bav grabbed the hand that he blocked with, using it a leaverage to swing a kick at his head. He did say again.

"I'm sure there are some things that'll upset him too, but for now, he needs to be happy, right little guy?" Trin said, grinning at the slobbering boy in her arms. Babies weren't really her favorite thing in the world, but for Ice's kids, she made an exception.

Walter grinned and babbled his agreement before crawling off her lap and looking down. Oblivion slipped off Ice's lap, dropping to the floor and wheeling over to where Walter was, so the Forgotten could drop on her back.

"Better." Silva said, blocking the kick just as easily. "And again."

Was she out to impress him? Hell no, just the repetiveness of how she was attacking was boring her right now. This time Bav dropped to the ground as quickly as she could and spun to sweep his legs out from under him.

Trin blinked, watching them. "Where are they going now?" She asked being slightly confused. Huh, interesting way to get around.

Oblivion wheeled away slowly, heading yet again to the pole lamp that Ice had stuck way back behind a couch.

"Trying to get another snack." Ice said with a sigh, shaking her head even as Oblivion got caught between the couch and the wall.

Silva jumped. Then he stayed in the air, just high enough that a kick wouldn't affect him. "Nice trick. But not for someone that has wings." He said. "Try again."

Bav grinned at him, rolling back onto her feet and followed the motion with another kick from her other leg. "Yeah, I know. Just tryin to add a little spice to this." She told him.

Trin snickered as she watched. "With as much as she's eating, she might turn out to be huge, Icey. Then what will you do?"

"Take her up to the junkyard." Ice replied with a sigh. "Or just buy beat up cars from it and bring them home. Walter eats a lot, too. We've had to put a restraint on how much he can get a hold of. So how's Bavaria getting along? Have you two reached an agreement?"

"Spice is fine, but wasting opportunities is just plain stupid." Silva said. "Always remember who you're up against."

Bav pulled back, staying in a stance as she listened to him. The small grin on her lips took a more serious air. "I remeber, old man, and I remember that you can easily kick my a**. Doesn't mean I'm going to stop. I will get stronger and I will get better." She told him. Then started the attack again. She would get better, far better, and he was her way to that goal.

"I guess you could say that." Trin answered, thinking it over. With all that was going on, she really didn't have time to think on it. "She's still bossy and gets demanding at times... but she's really taken to helping me in the shop. And likes showing it off to her siblings." Even if that was just limited to Brunswick right now.

"Feien can be hard to get along with." Ice agreed. "But it sounds like you're getting used to each other. That's good." She glanced over, watching as Walter slipped off of Oblivions back and crawled in front of her, reaching his hand out to try and grab the pole. His arm was still a bit too short, but that didn't stop him from trying!

"You damn well better." Silva said. "I don't like wasting my time, darlin. Unless it's on something more entertaining than training a group of brats."

"Gee, what could possibly be more fun then that." Bavaria asked scarcasticly. "That's the whole reason why I'm here, old man. I'm going to get stronger, then I'm going to kick your a**." That was farfetched and she knew it, but it felt good to say it all the same.

"We've been trying out foods that she likes and doesn't like. And I've been trying to take her to the homes of her siblings, so I know where she'd run off too. So far, I've only made it to Jack's place. He's the bond to Brunswick." Trin told her, watching as Walter tried to get the light for Oblivion.

"Sounds like a good plan. I know she comes over here pretty often, too. Silva's been teaching a group of them self defense." Ice said. Walter was stubborn. He hadn't given up, but he did back up, looking over the scene for a good long moment before crawling onto Oblivion, then onto the couch to try again from a higher vantage.

"Then you'll need to get a hell of a lot faster, too." Silva said with a tiny smirk.

"I already know that." Bav gave a little snort, that serious grin was still on her face even as he said that. "I got my self a little set up back home to keep working at it, too."

"He is a clever thing, isn't he?" Trin asked as she watched them, smirking slightly. "I figured she'd be coming here. She and her brother know Silva and talk about him sometimes. Usually with Varia calling him a b*****d." She said with a small shrug and a smirk. "Think they look up to him already?"

"Well compared to them he's pretty tall." Ice said with a shrug. "It's hard not to look up at him."

Walter let out a little grunt as his fingers barely brushed the pole, then looked down at Oblivion with a slight shake of his head and a babbled apology. He would have to figure something out to make his reach longer!

"Good." Silva said. "It's a hell of a lot better than Soho does." He shook his head. "That's enough for now."

Varia dropped out of her stance easy enough and flexed the hand she had done the most hitting with. "She doesn't seem like much of a fighter, or that she even wants to fight." She commented, still watching him just incase he decided to resume her little training.

"That's not what I meant, Icey." Trin snickered and went quiet a moment. "You know.... Shade was thinking about giving up his job after my hit..." She said softly, still not looking at the other female.

Ice fell silent for a long moment, then stood, crossing the room to pick Walter up. "He can do whatever he wants. He's a free man."

"She's not. But she needs better stamina." Silva said, heading back to the couch. This time when he dropped down he sort of lounged there, looking into the distance for a moment. "I'm... sorry, kid." He finally said, not quite looking at her.

Bav blinked at this, then blinked again and took a seat on the floor, leaning back on her hands. He was sorry? "For....what?" She asked slowly.

Trin sighed at the sudden mood change she had caused in her sister, and stood as well. That was still a touchy subject, huh? "Right, bad topic." She said softly, then started to rack her brian for something else.

"Know what? I think Walter could use a new batch of cookies. The kind grandma made us when we were kids! She gave me the receipe, ya know." Her tail gave a happy little swish at this idea.

"Huh? Sure! I'd like to have some of those, too, actually." Ice said, smiling once again. "The ones with the peanut butter in them?"

Walter cheered up again as soon as he heard the word cookie. And Oblivion gave one last mournful look at the pole before turning back to observe the scene silently once again.

"I just am." He said. "Accept it and never mention it again, darlin. If you know what's best for you."

Bav choked and started to laugh at that threat. She had no doubt in it, but it was funny how he put it.

"I was actually thinking the catnip ones.... but if you want!" Trin said and made her way for Ice's kitchen, already plundering it for the things she would need to make peanut butter chocolate cookies. "Next time I come, I'll bring some more scraps." She said, looking at Oblivion a moment.

"Here, we'll help you." Ice said, walking in with Walter and Oblivion. "And any silverware that hits the ground is Oblivion's." She added, much to Oblivion's joy.

Silva just smirked slightly.

"Yeah, sure." Bav said once she had recovered enough too and gave a small shrug, looking at him again. He still didn't look at ease, but whatever. "You still going to train us brats?" She then asked, as if to change the subject from the appology. Even if she wanted to know why. Silva didn't seem the type to give them out freely.

A small c***k sound of a spoon hitting the tile floor rang though the kitchen. "Whoops." Trin's voice followed after having 'accedently' dropped a spoon. She'd owe Ice a new silverwear set later.

"Yeah." Was Silva's only reply.

Play with Me
Silva headed up the stairs and into the waiting room, fingering his toothpick as he looked around. How did he know Aleric would be here? Well he had caught sight of the letter his bondbrother had recieved. Ice should be here or showing up soon, as well.

But Ice wasn't the one he wanted to talk to. So he dropped down on one of the blue armrests, letting on long leg swing as he leaned back against the back and closed his eyes. He could feel Aleric in one of the offices in back, and since the magic level seemed pretty consistant he figured it wasn't anything too interesting.

He was almost asleep when Aleric flew down the hallway and dropped down in front of him. "I thought I felt you here." Aleric said.

"Yeah." Silva drawled, only cracking one yellow eye open to look at the purple feien. "Shade's gone."

"... And Trinity?"

XX"Still alive."

"Thank God."

The Feien-sized entrance opened to admit Averno and Arae, the pair of them seemingly squabbling.

"Well I wouldn't doubt if Silva was the cause of all this mess. I swear, somedays I could throttle him. I wonder if he didn anything to Calico after he found out about how that wretched little stink beetle assaulted me?" Averno's words might sound harsh, but her voice was amused, and there was a twinkle in her violet eyes at the prospect of Silva playing the avenging anti-hero on her behalf.

Arae grimaced, far less amused than her sibling. "If his temper is that bad, I fear for your safety, and Aleric's, and dear little Ruby's," the ancient murmured. "Are you sure that YOU haven't done something that these people could be investigating, Averno?" The green haired Feien studied the dark one intently.

"Course not. When do I have any time to make any mischeif." She inwardly winced, worried perhaps the gems and artifact they'd uncovered might be a problem with these "fleet" people.

"Well..." Aleric said as he got to his feet once again. "Now that that problem is solved, perhaps we could get back to our--" He stopped and broke into a smile as he picked up a very familiar magical signature.

"Our..." Silva repeated slowly, reluctantly opening his eyes. "What?"

"Good day to you, Arae and Averno!" Aleric called as they came into sight. "Such beauty makes a day like this much brighter, don't you agree, Silva?"

Silva snorted.

"Aleric!" Arae cried out, and she dove off the window ledge to fly towards the other ancient's arms. "It's been far too long, my love! The family vacation did NOT go as planned. For a while I thought I might never see you again!"

Averno rolled her eyes at all the drama and poetry of the two elder fairies. She jumped from the ledge and lazily circled down to land near Silva. "So, what did you do to spark an entire fleet investigation, Tiger?" She quirked a grin, though only half-joking. Afterall, where there was Silva, there was Chaos, and usually screaming.

"I..." Silva said, then stopped, looking so disgusted that it was funny. "Hell if I know. I was trying to mind my own business for once. Next thing you know Ice's ex is going to kill her sister and Dee disappears after a chat with the fleet. Marne's stuck at my house with Soho, and who knows what in the hell they'll do to the missing feien when they find them." He grunted and grabbed for her hand to tug her down.

Aleric wrapped his arms around the white feien, hugging her close for a long moment. "Patience is a virtue, my love. But I'm afraid I echo your sentiments."

Arae curled up happily against Aleric and rested her head on his shoulder. "It's just good to be home, even with this weird investigation. They've questioned both Sajhiri and Averno. I'm worried, did they question you too?"

Averno let herself be pulled down and stretched out beside Silva. "They asked me a lot of questions about that rat b*****d, Calico. You didn't go and do something to him, did you? I haven't seen him since the day I came out of my bloom and dumped hot tea in his lap."

"Didn't do a thing." Silva replied with a shrug. "I still say he probably got himself killed somewhere. But hell, I'm betting most of them did. It's damned easy to die when you're a feien."

"They did. I'm afraid I didn't have much information to share, though." Aleric said. "But this is cause for celebrating, not worrying. It's been far too long since we've been able to see each other. I think we should do something entertaining, don't you?"

Arae quirked her head to the side to study Aleric curiously. "Entertaining? What sort of entertaining, dearest?" She drew away to lead him over to a spot to sit, and settled down.

Averno snorted. "I wouldn't doubt it if he got himself killed. He probably tried to mouth off to a rottweiller or thought he could stare down a train. He wasn't the brightest bulb in the house, and he had a temper that made you seem like a Shaolin Monk. I asked them if they thought any of them could be alive, if they'd been away from their bonds so long. They kind off blew off the question." She shrugged. "But then again, Arae managed it for who knows how many centuries."

Silva shook his head. "Either way I don't really care." He said callously. "I doubt the b*****d's stronger than I am now. And if he is, it might be entertaining."

"We could play a game..." Aleric offered slowly. "There's soccer and football, and the boys had been working on developing a feien sized baseball game with a cherry pit and a stick..."

Arae looked confused. "Are those sports? I'm not very good at those, but I'd like to watch others play them. The rules confuse me terribly." She chuckled, "I imagine you play divinely my love."

Averno grinned, "I wouldn't mind seeing you give him the smackdown, I just hope these people don't think _I_ did away with him. I was only out of the bloom a couple hours the last time I saw them. They questioned Jhiri too, as if she ever has any clue what's going on. Woman is so distracted all the time it's a miracle she remembers to eat or sleep."

Silva fell silent for a long moment, a wicked little grin trying to pull at his lips. Then he asked. "Would you do away with him now?"

"Actually I'm quite lousy." Aleric said with a sheepish grin. "Especially when I was only just starting out. I'm afraid my luck isn't all that good. But they're quite fun! And since you enjoyed skating I'm sure you would enjoy soccer!"

Arae smiled softly. "I certainly can give it a try, if you promise not to laugh too hard at how wretchedly I play. Sometimes I can have two left wings I think."

"If he tried what he did when I last saw him? I'd skewer his liver with my rapier, yank it out, roast it over an open fire with some teriyaki and wasabi, and feed it to him." Averno smirked.

"Tasty." Silva drawled, looking amused.

"Then shall we?" Aleric asked. "I'm sure we can find a cherry in the fridge. Silva? You want to play?"

"Huh?" Silva asked, finally glancing up. "Play what? I'm not big on threesomes, you know. Or even foursomes."

"Soccer." Aleric said, looking ever so slightly strained.

"Oh, right..." Silva said. He glanced over at Averno. "You wanna play?"

Averno arched a brow. "Soccer? If Silva promises not to play like a European fan, then sure. I don't think Arae knows the game though. She doesn't watch much television." The darkness feien rose and stretched languidly, her back cracking loudly.

Arae rose and she clasped her hands. "This sounds like fun! I love learning new things!"

"We'll need a cherry and a playing field." Silva said as he got to his feet and headed for the kitchen. "We'll pair up like usual, Al, you and Arae, Princess you're with me." He disappeared for a moment then came back with two cherries under his arms.

"There's a coffee table in the lounge." Aleric said as he followed his brother.

"That'll do."

Arae flitted over to the coffee table and landed lightly. "This is the game you use your feet with right? Not the one where you punch someone?"

"That's boxing, Arae, Soccer is the foot one. No hands. You use your feet to try to get the ball in the other team's goal." Averno glanced around. "What will we use as a goal?"

Arae gestured to a pile of coasters. "Couldn't we build some with those?"

Averno grinned and she and Arae began building goals with four square coasters each, just like one might build walls and a roof for a house of cards, with one wall missing.

"That works." Aleric said with a smile. "You two are quite ingenius!"

"Since there's only four of us we can have one player and one goalie, or no goalies." Silva said as he looked them over.

"I think we can deal without goalies, don't you?" Aleric asked.

Averno smirked and propped her hands on her hips, tucking her wings behind her agilely. "If you think you can risk no goalies, sure, why not. An empty net just makes for more excitement."

Arae blinked a few times. "What's a goalie...?"

Averno groaned. "How many thousands of years have you been around, and you never bothered to watch a sporting event?"

Arae frowned, looking hurt. "I'm sorry, but there aren't too many of those in the woods, you know."

"It's the person that tries to keep the ball from going into the goal, my love." Aleric said with a slight smile. "But we would need at least two more players for that to work. Preferably four."

Silva headed to the middle of the field, looking around for a long moment before nodding. "Anything off the table is out of bounds. No punching, biting, or below the waist. And since we've got girls playing, try to keep it a no-contact sport." He rattled off as if by memory. He had made this speech a million times before, after all.

"Aw, come on Silva, I won't hurt Aleric that badly. You shouldn't feel the need to go no-contact..." Averno quipped. She winked and added "I'm kidding! I'm kidding! No contact is fine."

Arae nodded to Aleric's explanation and Silva's rules. "I'll do my best." she noted to her partner. She crouched down a little to stretch her legs and warm up a bit, carefully folding her wings so the taloned ends wouldn't poke someone's eye out.

Silva tossed the cherry into the air, letting it fall where it would. Aleric headbutted it, then caught it with his knee, bouncing it to the ground before kicking it over to Arae.

Arae let out a little yelp, and without much elegance or force, thwumped her toe into the cherry to propel it toward Silva and Averno's goal. She then yowled and hopped up and down. "THAT HURT!"

Averno was laughing too hard to block. She doubled over, spitting out, "Use the SIDE of your foot, the SIDE, Arae!"

Silva caught it with the side of his foot, then sent it flying towards the opposite goal.

Aleric jumped and kicked in a little move that Nick always used, sending the ball flying away from the net... and off of the table.

"Our ball. Nice trick, by the way." Silva added as he walked over to the side of the table and dropped down with his usual dramatic flair, letting his huge wings catch him before he hit the ground. "Nick know you stole it?"

"I'm waiting until I learn how to aim before mentioning it." Aleric replied with a grin.

Arae rubbed her sore toe a moment and nodded at Averno. "I'll try to remember that...but you could have mentioned it before we started you know."

Averno grinned. "Sorry, I wasn't aware of the depths of your sporting ignorance. Now you know..." She moved herself halfway between the center of the table and her own goal, in playing guard for now.

Silva dropped down on the table again, the slightly bruised cherry under his arm. "We'll start... here." He said, moving closer to Aleric and Arae's goal. Then he tossed it into the air again.

They never had bothered to learn the official rules of the game.

Arae ran towards the ball, the concentration on her face evident by the way her tongue was poking out of the side of her mouth. She tried to beat Silva to the beleagured fruit and kick it, properly this time, if she could outpace him.

Averno skittered to the side, trying to keep in line with her co-bonded in case, by some act of God, Arae actually manage to kick the cherry.

Silva smirked. And let her.

It made Aleric glance up in surprise that his bondbrother was being so laid-back about the game, but he didn't say a word.

Arae wound up her leg and let it fly, thudding into the cherry and sending it sailing, not terribly far, or terribly straight, in a wobbly line.

Averno nimbly leapt over to it and kicked it back much more accurately towards Silva, but only with as much strength as her sister. Neither woman seemed to have much power behind their sporting feet. "Silva!" Averno shouted, to alert him to the incoming 'ball'.

He caught the ball with a foot, twisted, and slammed it into the goal right before Aleric fell on his face trying to catch it. "Nice job, Princess." He called over. "But we need to work on your power."

"My power? Hey I kicked it as hard as I can!" Averno groused. "I'm built for speed and grace, not for brute strength!" As if to illustrate, she did a pirouette and struck a Maxim-ish pose.

Arae flittered over to help Aleric up. "Are you all right, love? You almost stopped that one. Good job!"

Aleric shoved himself to his feet, grinning widely. "I'm fine. That happens to me on a daily basis, actually. You did a great job getting the ball!"

"Speed and grace are only part of what you need for soccer, Princess." Silva said as he grabbed the cherry and headed back to the center of the table. "But you should be fine as long as you don't try football."

"Oooh...football. Muscular men running amok patting each other's behinds. I love that game." Averno gave an exaggerated sweet sigh.

Arae smiled at Aleric "I know I'm dreadful at it. I could tell Silva let me get to the ball. He must be being nice for Averno's sake" she whispered.

"Silva is very rarely that easily explained." Aleric replied in an equally soft voice. "He might be curious to see how fast you really are, or just in a good mood. Either way, relax, my love. This game is for entertainment only." He sensed how surprised she seemed at the idea of Silva being nice for any reason, but decided not to mention it.

"Patting each other's behinds?" Silva repeated. "Damn but that's a disturbing image..."

Averno grinned "In your view, maybe. I think it's hot..." She winked towards Arae who once more just looked confused.

"Who's turn is it now?" the ancient asked.

"I think we'll take the ball now." Aleric said. Silva didn't complain, he just threw it over. "You two should join us sometime, when the children are over. We tend to play a lot of games like this."

Averno looked terrified for a moment. "Children!? Good grief, we have enough of those running around the tower. Do you know what it's like to have someone try and yank your wings off?! "

Arae chuckled. "It sounds delightful! Maybe we can do that soon."

A zip and a zing and a red and blue figure streaked into the room. No, not Superman, but Ten. "Hey Averno, Arae, Saedare is taking Dodge and I for ice cream if you wanna come with!" The little juvie zoomed in circles around the coffee table.

"Ooh Ice cream. Count me in," Averno quipped, her sweet tooth acting up again. "Come on Arae, I'll give you a couple soccer magazines so you can learn it better." She moved to give Silva a hearty kiss on the mouth. "I'll see you late, Tiger, can't resist the lure of the dairy dessert."

Arae laughed. "I'd best go as well, it's nearing dinner time, I better make sure none of them ruins their appetites." She kissed Aleric gently. "I'll see you soon?"

"Of course, my love." Aleric replied with a smile.

Silva just grunted. "Yeah. Sure. We should be going, too." And he grabbed the unbruised cherry and took off as well, Aleric waving and chasing after him.

Dear Soho,

I found this panda bear and thought you might like him. His colors remind me of you except without the lovely red. He is very cuddly and will listen to all of your secrets and stories.

Thank you for being my friend.

Sincerely,
Galatea

A Second Letter
Clustered together with a little note, near Soho's things.

Marne's Handwriting
Hey babycakes!!!

I'm just going back to home to totally grab some stuff! I may be gone for like half a day. So don't worry or anything. I mean I'll probably be back at like midday and you won't even notice I was gone. So I don't even need this note! Lame!!

Anyway I decided that we should celebrate our anniversary because we've been together like ages! We should hold a party and make people give us stuff. Except then that sounds like we're kind of old because only grandpas have anniversaries. Whatever. Anyway these are so cute and totally symbolize our relationship together and stuff, and also we can play dinosaurs together.

I named the orange one for you! He's Michaelangelo Anna-Marie Hotstuff! You can name the rest of them because they are yours and the symbol of our love. Also promise to watch Indiana Jones with me tonight because if you don't do it I'll have to ask Nick. Actually maybe I'll ask Nick anyway. Maybe we can all eat popcorn.

Rock'n'roll, baby!

Kiss kiss!
Marne

PS. We have a dark secret! And that dark secret is sex!

Stacked next to each other are these small plush dinosaurs:

It was one of the first times Kisa had been free to go where she pleased in a while. She and Aleric had decided to go for a walk to the park. Her book was sticking out of her bag, and the small ancient feien sat comfortably on her shoulder, commenting once in a while on how beautiful a day it was.

She would only smile in agreement, but Aleric knew that the smile was a sign that she was thoroughly enjoying herself. He could practically feel her good mood rushing over him. "There's a bench over there." He said, pointing at the almost empty bench to the right. "Shall we sit there as we read?"

Kisa nodded in agreement, dropping down on the bench and pulling out her book, then Aleric's. The feien promptly set it on the bench next to her and opened it to his page.

They sat there quietly for a moment, each lost in their own tale. It was like any other time they were together, nice and peaceful with common, unstated affection for the other. In fact, Kisa had even moved Aleric's aquarium to the room she shared with Jade a few days before, since she missed him being there at night. But no one said anything about it, no one really even noticed save for them and Jade. And Jade had always known there was something close between the two.

It was because of this that when the large, blue skinned male dropped down on the other side of the bench, they didn't even look up.

Josiah stood well over six feet tall. His baggy black pants and boots had seen better days, and instead of a shirt he wore a vest made of worn brown leather. It was easier to get on under the chains that dangled from his wrists and shoulders. His head was shaved, save for the long tails of white hair that tended to tangle in the chains he wore. Beside him a large dog dropped down, his red eyes looking over the area curiously, his finned tail wagging just once before he laid down on the ground, resting his head on his paws.

At least this time they weren't adrift at sea, Josiah thought wryly. He leaned back, running a hand over his not so handsome face, wariness pulling at his entire body. They had set off to find a cursed treasure ship lost at sea, only to wash up on shore here.

Josiah had never seen so many females in his entire life. He glanced around, his eyes falling on the female sitting at the other end of the bench. At least... he thought it was a female. He had seen some very pretty dou in his life, boys that looked like girls. And this female was a bit flat... at least, he thought she looked flat. The only female he had ever seen had been wearing a strange dress that made her chest practically fall out, it was so tight. This one wore baggy black and gold clothing that concealed all her curves.

"Er..." He said slowly, making Kisa glance up with a raised eyebrow. "Ye wouldn't be a... female, would ye?"

Kisa's mouth almost opened, her sharper than usual teeth showing for a brief second before she rolled her eyes and went back to reading her book. Aleric, on the other hand, looked the large male over curiously, wondering just what in the world had prompted a question like that. The large man hadn't noticed him, it seemed. Which was understandable, because he was somewhat hidden on the other side of Kisa's leg.

Josiah fell silent, still watching her curiously for a long moment. She had long, delicate fingers, but he had seen those on males before, as well. But if she WAS a male he wouldn't be so curious, right? Or had he finally become a normal dou? That thought was such a relief that he dismissed it entirely. She had to be a female. And this had to be a... a what? A different world?

Finally the smaller body beside her caught his attention and he looked at the fairy male for a long moment before, unable to help himself, he asked. "And ye be a fairy, aye?"

Aleric nodded. "I am."

"Huh." Josiah said, falling silent again. It was actually easier to accept the existance of fairies than it was to accept the female with the cat ears.

"You seem confused..." Aleric said, taking to the air and heading for the other male. Kisa reluctantly looked up, listening to their conversation. "Is there some way I might help you?"

"Well, ye see..." Josiah started out slowly. "Yorick an' meself were searching for a ship, a cursed ship, ta be exact... an' then a storm hit." He looked a little befuddled. "We washed up on a beach near here, and 'ave been wanderin' around ever since." Yorick looked up, eyeing the fairy curiously. But he didn't make a sound, surprisingly enough.

"You'll need someplace to stay..." Aleric said. "And a job."

"Aye..." Josiah agreed. "But afore I find that... can ye tell me..." He glanced over at Kisa, then back at the fairy. "Be there that many femmes in this area?"

"Femmes? You mean females?"

"Aye."

"Well... yes, actually. There are."

Josiah fell silent, his shoulders slumping slightly. There was no chance he would start to like males like a good dou should in this kind of environment! He would be a pervert forever...

Yorick let out a watery little bark that sounded like a laugh.

Things change. Things always change, no matter how much you might not like it. Soho stared down at the letters and gifts her friends had given her, a slight frown on her face for some odd reason. She loved them, of course. They were cute and cuddly looking, and she had already moved them to her room, but...

She looked around, noting that Silva was sound asleep on the couch, Nick and Nack were taking a break on the other side of the room, and Aleric had been gone for a while with Kisa. She was, for the most part, alone.

She had come to realize during her long time of partying with Marne, that she didn't like being alone. She didn't like waking up with no one there to chatter away with, no one to distract her from thinking. Because when she thought, she remembered. And she didn't like to remember.

With that thought she climbed out of the glass fishbowl, heading silently to the tall male asleep on the couch and looking down. Her eyes ran over his face, and a slight pout pulled at her lips. He wasn't gorgeous. He was actually a little scary looking, with his expression as dark as if he was facing some monster in his dreams. She dropped down to her knees, leaning her head against the couch and watching him more.

Did she love Marne? Like those romantic movies and books that she had read? No. At least, she didn't think so. She just liked to play with the other girl, chasing after wild ideas and dreams. Marne was a lot more fun than Dee. but she missed Dee. She only jerked a little as yellow eyes opened, looking at her sleepily.

"What's the matter, darlin?" Silva asked roughly, sleep making his voice sound like sandpaper. He glanced down as she laced her fingers in his, staying silent for a moment before speaking.

"Mister Silva Demon?" She asked.

"Mm?"

"Will you... will you kiss me?"

Silva woke abruptly, looking at her long and hard for a moment before asking, "Did something happen?"

"No." She said, still looking somber.

"Come up here, darlin. You can take a nap with me." He told her, pulling her onto the couch with him. She fell on top of him, laying her head against his chest and wrapping her arm around his waist. "Now..." He said as he situated his little girl a little better. "Tell me what in the hell's gotten you down."

"Do you remember... when it was just you and me and Aleric and Nick and Nack and--"

"Darlin, it's still just that."

"No it's not." She said, shaking her head. "It keeps getting bigger and bigger and I never get to spend any time with you, and I'm not sure..."

"What do you call this, darlin?" He asked. She was in a strange mood and he didn't know quite how to deal with it. "Did Bruns do something?" Which would be easiest. He would just kick the juvie's a** and everything would be better.

"I haven't seen Bruns lately..." She said as she listened to his heartbeat.

"Then Marne?" A little more difficult, since he didn't like beating on females...

"Marne's a lot of fun."

"Then what's the problem?"

"Mister Silva Demon?" She asked, looking up at him finally. "I um... I think I love you."

He blinked. "That's because we're family, darlin."

"But--but I mean... you know... really love you. As in--as in--"

"No." He said, not pushing her away, just stiffening slightly as he pulled his toothpick out from behind his ear. "Darlin, I think you're a bit confused."

"Maybe." She said, looking away from him again. But maybe not. She didn't know, really. "I feel safe when I'm with you."

Silva didn't respond, he just laid there even as she fell asleep, staring at the ceiling blankly. She was almost a year old. She would be turning into an adult soon.

And God help them all when that happened...
