Anthony's anxioty finally reached peak.
"GOD ******** DAMNIT! ITS TIME TO MOVE! NOW! GRAB HIM AND LETS GO!" he barked at them from the top of his lungs from a fixed point.

Seth heard Karr yelling, "s**t!" He cursed, "Dr. Halsey, we need to GO. Dansmith will have to wait!"

Seth watched as a SPARTAN scooped up Dr. Halsey and another grabbed the injured Dansmith. "Able Company, lets get to the LZ NOW!"

Able broke off in a full run to Karr's location, Seth was shocked at just how fast the SPARTANs could move. But that wasn't here nor there. Grabbing a Marine who had slipped on a rick and pulling him up Seth shouted again "MOVE!"

Anthony sighed to himself. "Thank ******** god..."

He began flashing the signal again. Reading: EVAC, TIME, URGENT, MOVE.

Before Halsey could say anything, a speeding green blur had picked her up and set her down gently in front of the bleeding medic. Looking down at the wounded man, she realized that part of his chest's skin had been fused to his fatigues by the high-tension power that had coursed through his system. If anything, the man was stable rather than in any critical danger. All he needed was some painkillers and muscle relaxants, and both would take rest to really profit from. If anything, the medic lying on the floor in front of her should simply be pumped full of morphine and carried to the evac zone. She had more pressing matters to take care of. She had her children to see.
Quickly retrieving a small vial of morphine from her stolen medkit, she slit open the medic's fatigue with a small razor she had found. Jabbing the small needle into the man's very visible artery, she left it at that and turned to look at Kelly. Even though she knew time was of the essence, she squeezed Kelly's armored hand for a second before turning to Fred and looking him over. His body language confirmed what she had thought: everyone had survived the Cryostasis perfectly. She held Fred's gaze for a fraction of a second, before turning her head in the direction the marines were running in.
"It's time, Fred. We're finally getting off this hellish lie."
Next to her, Dansmith lay sedated in Kelly's arms, the pain diminishing with every passing second. The moment lasted only a moment longer before Lee caught up, and the marines of Able company ran towards what would hopefully be their salvation.

Ashton was only vaguely aware of his body... so small, so cold in comparison to everything... before the Forerunners, he was nothing. He felt a cool logic flow into his own mind, giving him clairvoyance....
"...minds...-ansmith? ca...ou hea-- me?..."

Fragments of another lofted lazily through his mind... he couldn't make sense of them, he didn't have enough room to think with... couldn't... wake... up!... couldn't make --can't make SENSE OF ANYTHING!... Would the deafening silence never end....?

"...-shocked... we were joi--? I hear you scream... though --ou make no sound... your cries are --clear to me...in the void...Why can't-- I feel the Monterey...?!..."

He felt a stabbing sensation in his mind. It wasn't the usual place where an AI was uploaded. It was everywhere. His whole mind, his whole self, was being stabbed by a blade he could not dodge.
Arrgh!!! Ahh, huh, oh, no... he moaned to no one, for no one could hear his torments.

"...Aaah!!! --he pain ... I ne-- never knew pain hurt so much... felt like that!... y-u need... wake up!"

The thoughts of the other were coming through clearer now. He could feel it, cold, logical, but scared, so like himself. Or, was that himself? He could not tell: the boundaries between self and not were blurred. the lines between real and non were gone. He was no one, he was everyone.... he felt his mind shifting places with another... losing dominacey over his psychie...

"Wha--? Dansmith, Lance Corporal! Can you ... can you hear me? Where did you go?!" I'm right here. He could not understand how the other could not know he was right there, the other was so close, it should have been impossible to over look him. I'mrighthereI'mrighthereI'mrighthereI'M RIGHT HERE GOD DAMMIT!! He shouted over the noise of everything, over the din of eternity. He must be heard, he had to be. He did not know if he would continue to exist if he wasn't heard over the other voice.

"Ashton! I hear you! Talk to me, say something! Dansmith... where the hell am I?!" We...? we... Asthon toyed around with the idea, appeasing it so that it would yield meaning. We... who are you...?!

"Angel, I am Angel. I think I am, anyway. I can hear you much better now, Lance Corporal."

...Angel...? No, no no no. You are a computer. You cannot be here. "Here" is me. I am all that exists here, though I feel so cold. I am dying, aren't I?

"That's just it. I think I am here, and you are here, at the same time. I can hear you speak, but when I respond, it is not like before. I do not use the Monterey's satelites. I cannot even sense where the Monterey is anymore. Whatever I think, you hear."

Ashton felt the emancipating sensation of understanding start to creep into him. Angel could hear him in the darkness... He could hear her anywhere...
They were joined minds, two selfs calling this place their own.

...HOW?!? He could not grasp this concept, though he needed to. He must know: he flet an unnatural drive to know, anything, everything: how why when who... they were his quests right now....

"I don't know. All I do know is, this is why humans don't go ******** around with Slipspace. Wierd things start to happen, Dansmith. We are a product of that."

... The Shaw-Fujikawa tendrils... the blast from the Forerunner's circuits... they must have transfered Angel into his mind. Oh, boy.

When the monitor shot down the pelicans, Rory watched as it hit the ground near the monitor, and sent shratnel and pieces of paneling flying into the air. Seeing a big peice heading towards him, he quickly anticipated where it would land, and jumped to the side in one quick motion, letting the metal fall ontop of him, hiding him from view of everyone else, who was focused on the pelicans. He pushed off the metal panneling sometime later, and got up, looking around to make sure the coast was clear, and indeed it was, so he picked up his Assault Rifle and went to the pelican. "It's time to give Shadow some pay back..." He could barely hear everyone talking over the radio. As he stepped into the back of the pelican, he looked around on the shelves for something. "Comon, their has to be one in hear at least..." He found what he was looking for, a slung the weapon over his shoulders, to his back, he picked up his Assault Rifle again, and stepped out of the downed pelican. "This is Gunnary Seargent Rory Koles." He said over the radio. "I'm heading towards the LZ, with heavy weapons in towe, if I don't get there in time, leave wihout me, dont' bother waiting!" With that, he ran with all the strength he could muster, he was done standing around, and tryign to talk, now was the time for action. He looked over his shoulder once at the weapon and smiled. It was his turn to play his hand. He faced back to the way he was running, and hoped, he would get a chance to help.

Lipton and BRAVO had been re-tasked and attached to a small unit led by Commander Hammer. Apparently there had been some trouble ground-side but rather than send BRAVO the Captain had requested that Hammer lead the mission. Lipton wasn't about to question orders, and he was grateful for the backup, but he didn't know the Commander's capabilities, and wasn't sure how he would react under fire or in a stressful situation. Then again, he was a Commander and a VerCrouse vet, so it seemed that he had his s**t together. BRAVO was still technically its own unit, but they reported to Hammer now. Just another link in the chain of command. The experimental IIC seemed like a shitty idea the moment Lipton stepped aboard. He would have been happier in a Pelican. Hell, he would have been happiest in a HEV, but command had deemed it unwise to send HEVs into the unknown. This bucket was about as useful as a Parachute in deep space. The word experimental was a major warning sign. Apparently they were heading into a Dyson sphere, something he had read about but never actually seen. He didn't know what was in there, as all communications had been classified top secret, and even though he was in a mission to be inserted into where-ever-the-hell-they-were-going the Navy wanted to hold onto its little secret. Of course, the Scuttlebutt was good for more than mere gossip. BRAVO would do its job, but he had been sure to get Pelicans on stand by should they need them. Lipton and his men were carrying light weapons compared to the rest of the team. Each of them had gone for the stripped down MA6K-MPA rather than the bulkier MA6B. The lighter weight and better customization options were a strong plus for him. Lipton had also taken a BR55HB-SR in addition to his sidearm. Sure the MA6K was good, but the 10mm rounds meant smaller magazines, and if they got into a firefight, he wanted to have something good as a backup weapon. He stole a glance at their commander and wondered just what the hell they were heading toward.

"I'm so freaking useless" Warren muttered, as he sat against the wreckage of one of the shot down pelicans. He looked up and hated the fact it was such a peaceful place, he decided to try the com again." Bravo unit, whats your status over?" His stomach began to hurt and he clenched it with his left hand.

Urias reached down to restrap his boot. He didn't like the current situation. He had listened to recordings from other soldiers who were already on the structure. They sounded like they were in trouble and that was what was unsettling him.

His com crackled to life. Urias had a hard time listening because the com was filled with static. "Br--vo unit, ----- your status?" Urias reclipped the himself to the seat of the Pelican. He decided to return the call. "We are currently descending to the alien structure. We have pinpointed, your location and are heading your way for evac."

OOC: I'm not sure if we're in a Pelican or not. . .

Warren mostly got static back, but he did manage to make a few words out, descending, alien, location, and evac. The last word did bring some comfort to Warren. He would normally reply to confirm, but he knew there radio's weren't working well going in and out of the station. He looked at his battle rifle and frowned. He pulled himself off the ground and began to walk to there evac point, "I guess I'll fill them in" He said as he coughed up some more blood.

Anthony became restless as they were carrying the injured medic up to the designated NAV 1 marker, which was right where he was standing.

He slung his sniper around from his shoulder, and checked the ammo gauge and scope. It was full, because he hadn't fired a single shot, but his nerve's couldn't take it anymore.

"Lets get the hustle on Marines! Lets go!" He shouted at them.
PostPosted: Sat Feb 02, 2008 9:24 pm

Fred was the first to get to the evac point, rushing past the marine waiting there and sweeping the area with his borrowed assault rifle. His heavy boots gripping strongly to the metal surface he was standing on, he nevertheless skidded a few inches due to his incredible weight and momentum. Satisfied that the area was clear, he moved farther into the corridor.
Kelly, who would have arrived first if not for the fact that she was carrying Ashton, ran in right after Fred, keeping hold of her charge as he almost flew out of her arms from the deceleration. The rest of the spartans poured in quickly after, from Linda to Tom and Lucy, to both what was left of Team Saber and the entirety of Team Katana. Ash put down Halsey with the gentlest of touches, and she brushed off the lab coat that was covering the towel she had wrapped around her form with a dignity impossible to anyone without her level of intellect. Quickly understanding the situation, she looked over at the waiting marine and spoke in a tone not characterized by it's coldness, but rather by the fact that it was entirely professional and to the point.
"Where's the stealth craft?"

Having ditched the now-empty cryotubes, all of Able was moving at a suitable pace. Even those who had been wounded in the pelican crashes had been recovered on the way to the EZ, rapidly deployed stretchers strung between a few rapidly moving medics. Making it to the top with four marines and the good lieutenant right behind him, Captain Lee stopped in front of the already-posted Spartans and realized they probably wouldn't need his guidance at all to function.
Good, he had enough stress managing what was left of Able, anyways.
The good captain nodded at Karr, thankful for the timely rescue and conscious of the hell the pelican crash must have been. But there would be a time for mourning later. Now was the time to get the hell off this nightmare. If they ever needed to get frozen up or killed by mad AIs, then Lee would book a flight back here. Until then, he didn't want to see another inch of carefully tended garden for the rest of his life.
Pity, the girl he had his eyes on marrying had loved japanese rock gardens.

Warren reached the Evac point by limping that last bit of the way. He looked around and saw everybody had seemed to be there "Last one to the party, I see". He let himself fall backwards onto the ground and looked up at the "Sky". "Earth here we come"

"Dansmith, you still with me?"
...Was that supposed to be funny, or are you honestly concerned I've gotten lost inside my own mind, and didn't notice you there?
"Hm, both probably. Have to make the best of a bad situation, right? Look at the bright side: All I am is a tactical copy of the original AI. If I was the full me, you'd have far less room to think with, that is for sure."
Well, I'm glad you see the bright side in this. As far as I know, I'm really still dying back in some god-forsaken Hell Shell.
"Oh, come now. You think I'd just leave us to die in there? Besides, are you insinuating that the Spartans you woke would leave us behind?"

Ashton thought for a second... it seemed to be all he was good at lately. Sure as hell not lacing his boots or healing anyone.
Well, it's a valid concern. Alright, where are we now?
"Well, I'm going to borrow a little more brain-power of yours to tap into a COMM link through your Data Uplink port, alright? You might get the sensation that you're a few magnitudes less intelligent than before."
Well, that should be no different from whenever I talk to any AI, nonetheless one who got burned into my brain.
"I'll take that as a 'yes'. Wait a moment, please."
I don't really have a choice, do I?
"No, you don't. Tapping in now..."

Angel's tactical self, which was the only version of her that held any weight upon him (literally), began reworking the crystal/wetware interface, so as to channel some of Ashton's raw residual electrical potential, created from active neurons, into a homing signal, and fired this weak transmission through his Data Uplink port, the jack in his head he usually simply used to download the latest medical information from the Nets and medical logs.
Now, it was serving a much more vital purpose: it was his only link to the consious world.

Angel quickly acquired a signal through Kelly's armor, it being the closet recievinig device to Ashton. She relayed this signal to the Captain, borrowing a much-needed power boost from the Spartan's mini-nuclear fusion reactor. She spoke into the Captain's earbud.
"Captain Lee? Lance Corporal Dansmith and I have just figured a way to communicate with the rest of Able, though at a terrible expense to his own brain's processing power. I detect we are on an outbound trajectory towards the Monterey, yes? My sensors are limited to his own suit and equiptment: could you give us an ETA, please?"
