She drifted peacefully into darkness. Then suddenly the darkness started to fade. She could feel her body convulsing. Her blood ran cold in her veins, chills rocked her body. Whispers filled her mind. She opened her eyes, she seemed to be in a small cell made of concrete. But something wasn't right. She stood examining the room. No windows. Alice fell to the floor as another wave of pain racked her brain. Though this sudden migraine was unlike the rest, with this one she felt a power welling inside her as the pain grew stronger, so unbearable she let out a long pained scream. With that the room's pressure altered. The door flew off its hinges. But Alice remained on the floor clutching her head. Afraid to move. Afraid for her friend's sake. The spirit was trying to take over....

Demyx struggled against Cora’s hold on him. She faltered for only a split second, but it was almost enough for him to get free. She quickly corrected herself, but he could feel that he was gaining a foothold. “Please Cora, let me go. Just a little is all I need. Just a little,” He pleaded, but he still look very much like a monster, and his voice wasn’t right. When Cora did not release him, he let loose a roar of the deepest hatred and snapped at her neck. “Let me loose Cora!” He said harshly. “I feel like I’m dying! Only Alice cared. Only Alice wants to help me. Cora please, how can you let me suffer like this?” It was a wonder he could form words at all. His eyes glowed madly as the hunger took him further and further away from human. His head turned, and he caught sight of Syvra. “Syvra, you take Rose’s blood, but you will not let me have any for myself? Why are you making me suffer like this?”

"Just a little will keep you like this forever!" Cora roared into his face, letting her fangs grow a little and causing more supernatural strength to flow into her muscles. It almost killed her to hear Demyx's pain and feel his hunger through their connection. Syvra and Cora looked at each other for a split second, words passing between them at untold rates. I think there's a loophole. Hurry, he'll throw me off soon. Vampire blood. Vampire blood? It won't change him. Vampires can feed off of each other if need be. That's right, and technically he's not taking the blood of another to sustain him if it's already been taken by another. So, give him some. Fast, he's losing control too quickly. And without a second thought, Cora used a protruding fang to slice open her tongue and thrusting her head forward, she kissed Demyx, forcing her bleeding tongue into his mouth.

The sent of blood so close drove Demyx over the edge, and he managed to free his hands, only to grab her head to pull her forcefully closer, though she was already kissing him. His tongue met hers hungrily as he fed from her, drinking her alluring blood. His hands moved to her back, digging their nails in as he tried desperately to somehow pull her closer and get more. He couldn’t stop himself. With a growl that rumbled in his chest, he suddenly flipped Cora so that he was the one pinning her down. His face pressed hard into hers as his hands clutched her wrists. As the new blood began to pump through his veins, he gave a great shudder, and the rest of his human mind started to return to him. Demyx realized then that he had taken a lot from Cora, and his head shot back from hers so that he was looming over her, his legs straddling her abdomen. He couldn’t quite tear himself away from her though. His chest heaved and his hands still forced her wrists down. His eyes burned like an inferno, now fueled by the blood he had received. They burned into hers as his mind fought between taking more or moving away from her.

Cora was thrown, figuratively and literally, by Demyx's thirst. He was heavy on her, and as he straddled her, looking down at her, a little dribble of blood escaped the corner of her mouth. "If you need more, take it," she croaked, tired. "I'll regenerate somehow." She waited, her breathing labored from a combination of Demyx and her loss of blood. She closed her eyes and Syvra did so as well. They both went over Cora's bodily conditions, and found that only a third of the blood that Cora had had before was left in her body and she beginning to burn with fever. She would be too weak to feed. Both twins wondered if Demyx, in his heightened vampiric state, would be able to sense their goings over and their silent thoughts to each other. Syvra opened her eyes to survey him whilst Cora kept hers shut in exhaustion.

The vampire side of Demyx wasn’t done yet. It took the invitation for more with a smile, bending over to slowly lick the blood that spilled from Cora’s lips. His tongue traveled back up her face, parting her lips to gain entrance. His head titled to the side to kiss her, sucking the blood from her tongue. Demyx pulled his face away after a moment, sitting straight up but still straddling Cora. He smiled, reaching a finger up to the side of his face to wipe off the blood that had managed to escape him. He stuck the finger in his mouth, savoring the taste of Cora’s blood with a satisfied smile. Then something clicked in the back of his mind where his human thoughts were struggling to gain control. They finally won when he looked into Cora’s tired eyes. His own eyes grew softer, and he moved off of her. His hands went around her arms, drawing her upper body to him. He hugged her to him, not bothering to try and help her stand yet, knowing that she was growing weaker. “I’m so sorry,” he whispered into her ear. “But thank you.” He looked up at Syvra, and his forehead crinkled in confusion. I thought you were not on our side. You worked with Jack, and you almost killed Rose….explain yourself. Demyx suddenly remembered Alice. “Alice?!” His head darted around the room. “Where is she? Is she all right?”

Alice took in a deep ragid breath, her whole body shaking. Her eyes darker than night. She knew she wasn't in complete control, but it was enough. She stood slowly, clutching her stomach as if trying to hold herself together. She walked into the main room where the others stood. Her eyes met Demyx's. Damn she would have to pass the, to get out. She needed to get to an open field in order to release her power. To regain control. "I need to leave. Now." She said. Her voice didn't sound right. It was lifeless. Monotone. And distant.

Cora weakly motioned, curiously communicating by half talking half thinking to the group, "Go on" without me. I"'ll be fine. Help" Alice. She needs it more "than a vampire like me. I can sub"sist on the little blood I "have left." She fell into a kind of coma then, her body protecting the last of the blood that she had left until she could be given some more. Syvra, knowing there was nothing more she could do until she found someone for Cora to feed on, nodded and motioned for Demyx and Alice to follow her quickly. She led them into a chamber, shockingly large and spacious. It was round and torches glowed in sconces that surrounded it, the opposite side slightly hazy because of distance. An intricate pentagram decorated the floor, covering the entire area of the room. "This is the Valcori training ground for the school. Me and Cora train her sometimes. It's so huge because Valcori used to come to the school in droves. Now it's just me and Cora." Syvra turned around to Alice, who was still clutching her stomach. "Alice, release what you need. We will leave the room if we have to. The pentagram has containment powers, but I think Demyx would feel safer in leaving the room." Her serious eyes met Demyx's. "It's almost dawn and the withdrawal will take place. I suggest we go somewhere else while Alice's releases, unless you'd like to take up the withdrawal here."

Demyx’s eyes flicked over to Alice. He was worried about her, but she had proven that she could take care of herself. “Syvra?” He asked in a low voice. There were a million thoughts running through his head, but he was keeping them locked in the back of his mind. These thoughts were for himself only, right now. “Can I go outside? I…have a lot to think about before the sun fully comes up and I go through the withdrawal. You can come outside in a few minutes to check on me. I just need some time alone in the fresh air.”

Syvra nodded, leading him out of the room, but as the door closed behind them, she turned around, causing him to stop, her brow furrowing. "Are you sure you want to be alone? You may have fed, figuratively, but that doesn't mean that you won't be attracted to blood still." She studied him, reaching out to try and touch his mind and find out what he was thinking, but he was keeping himself carefully guarded. She looked into his eyes, and as their sights locked, and she kept his steady gaze, Syvra knew that he did need those few minutes. She pointed towards a door in the circular wall, totally invisible to the eye in the flickering torchlight, but not to a vampire's eye. "The way out is there. I would accompany you, but I have other matters to attend to." Her gaze went to Cora's prostrate body lying on the floor, barely breathing. "She will be fine, despite how she looks, but just like a human when it's lost too much blood, she gets just as weak." And in the torchlight, her face softened as she gazed at her twin and loved filled her eyes and spilled over onto her cheeks. "But I get just as weak as her and she does the same for me." The golden bond between the two glowed brighter, so it would've been slightly visible to even a human's eye. "Go, have your time alone," she whispered, walking over to Cora and picking her up. "I will be out later to help with your withdrawal."

Demyx watched Syvra, his interest in the twin’s bond forming. He frowned, thinking of the cousin that was like a brother to him, but Syvra’s love for her sister and the sight of the golden bond gave him the strength to smile softly at the two. “Thank you,” He said quietly before pushing open the door. He was greeted by the cool morning’s fresh air, and his smile grew. As the door closed behind him, he paced out into a circle of trees. Inside of the circle, the open area had been completely filled with glowing pale-blue lunar flowers. The flowers resembled large water lilies, and their petals were said to cure a broken heart when taken from the flower under the moon. He bent down, and with gentle fingers he took a single lunar flower into his hand and pulled it free. It would be a gift to Cora, he decided, as a sign of his love. Suddenly he picked up a noise, causing him to shoot up, almost dropping the flower. Normally he wouldn’t have heard a thing, but with his heightened senses he picked up careful footfalls. Whoever was coming towards him didn’t want their presence to be known. They crept closer, and Demyx leapt into a fighting position, red embers burning at his fingertips. There was a rustle in the bushes and he tensed, only to let out an exasperated sigh at the sight of Rose, her hair a mess from all the leaves it had collected, despite her control over plants. He almost laughed he was so happy to see her safe, but he remembered his warning to her. “I thought I told you to hide,” He said, rolling his eyes, but the corners of his mouth came up in a tiny smile despite himself. “I did, but I saw it was creeping closer to morning, and… I feared the worst. Besides, Kye saw Jack wandering off in the opposite direction and went off after him.” “You should have know I was fine, then,” He said, shaking his head. “I had to be sure.” Demyx chuckled quietly. “Well, you see that I am fine. Now, I know that the vampires were not good to you, but they have a hiding place, a secret place that only they know about.” “Lets go inside, then,” Rose said with a shiver. “Its cold, and I’m pretty hungry. Come to think of it, I don’t know the last time I ate.” She looked around. “Where is the door?” Demyx stared at Rose for a long moment, remembering just why he had come out here. She returned his gaze, confusion in her eyes. “What’s wrong, Demyx?” She asked, taking a step towards him. “Rose, there is something I need you to do.” He looked away from her and up at the sky. The pale moon and stars were still visible, but in only a few minutes the sun’s rays would begin to paint over them with new colors of pink and yellows to brighten it up and welcome in the new day. He smiled to himself and opened up his mind so that it was once again connected to Cora’s and even Syvra’s. Demyx wanted them to know what he was going to do, wanted them to know that he was going to join them. He didn’t know if they would much like the idea at first, but he would have it no other way. The only option for him was to spend the rest of forever with Cora, and there was only one way to do it. I will never live to see another dawn as a human. My next will be fresh and clear, seen through new eyes, with you, my love, at my side forever. Demyx finally pulled his eyes back to Rose. She was smiling, almost like she understood what he was going to ask her for. Perhaps she did. Perhaps his feelings were so strong that even she could feel them. “Rose, a drop is all I need. Just one drop to touch my lips before dawn can touch my skin.” She nodded, her smile growing. “Well then lets hurry, you haven’t got much time.” She stuck out her hand, and as he watched, a single thorn, like one from a rose, grew from the tip of her left index finger. In one fluid movement she had pricked her other finger, and Demyx was reminded for a moment of Sleeping Beauty. Rose held out the bleeding finger, offering him up the tiniest but most important gift he would ever receive. His eyes lit up, and as Demyx started to cross the space between them, his hand tightened around the lunar flower. Everything seemed to happen in slow motion after that. Rose watched as Demyx started after her, his eyes aimed at the blood. She watched as he smiled in anticipation, and then she watched the smile quickly faded away to be replaced by a questioning look. He seemed to have been pushed from behind, his feet suddenly moving clumsily to right himself. He was still and quiet for a moment as his eyes drifted down toward his chest. Rose’s eyes, too, went to his chest, and like his, her smile faded and was replaced by a look of horror. There, right above his heart, was a spreading crimson. It looked like a terrible blooming flower, sucking the life from its host. Demyx gave another lurch forward, and his eyes seemed to glaze over, looking distant and lifeless. The flower exploded, sending blood across his whole shirt front. At its center was the tip of an ice shard, stained red by its victim. Demyx swayed in place before a hand on the back of his neck forced him to his knees. He knew that the cold hand belonged to Jack, and that Kye must surely have died, because only one could have come out of that battle alive. The hand shoved him once more, and he hit the ground with a heavy thud, landing on his side so that all he could see were Jack’s boots stepping into the pool of his blood. The feet rushed forward, and his whole body came into his vision. Jack was intercepting Rose as she ran for him, screaming something he could not hear. He rolled onto his back, and out of the corner of his eye Demyx could see Rose pinned to a tree, with Jack leaning in to kiss her tear-streaked face. With one hand he had pinned her wrists, with the other he was gripping the bottom of her shirt, trying to ease it up over her head. Any plants she tried to conjure were buffeted away by drifts of snow and ice crystals. Demyx tried so hard to move, to jump up and save Rose, but he felt his body slipping away from his mind like the two were separating. He was rapidly growing numb, and soon he could not even feel the wound that had torn open his heart. He was aware of voices screaming out his name. Rose was one, he was sure, but there was another, one that screamed in the back of his mind, but he could not quite hear it. It was begging for him not to go, begging for him to just hold on. He closed his eyes, desperately trying to picture the face that was saying these words to him, but it seemed faded. When Demyx opened his eyes once more he saw the stars, pale but defiant in the morning sky. It was almost dawn, and a sudden gust of cool wind had blown the lunar flowers’ petals across the forest. They swirled around him, lightly touching his skin before being swept away into the sky to flutter for a time with the moon and rising sun. Demyx couldn’t hold on anymore, despite the familiar, loving voice that was pleading with him. He let his head fall to the side, too tired to keep it up for even a moment longer. The last thing he saw was his lunar flower still clenched in his fist, its soft blue petals stained crimson. No, not my flower, he thought. Her flower. And suddenly, as his eyes closed against the world, he pictured clearly in his mind the one he loved, and imagined that he could once again feel her lips against his. I will love you forever, Cora Siann. And then even her face and the feeling of her lips was gone, and Demyx slipped into darkness. (Ok, dont kill me, or yourself for that matter, there is still hope, if Cora is the determined girl I know!)

The twins burst out of the hidden door, twin whorls of fury. Syvra let go a few arrows at Jack before dropping them and going after Demyx's still body. The ice would do nothing more than open holes in his body that drained his blood, so all he needed was more blood. But if the sun came up before he could drink any, he would be as dead as any human being. Cora, on the other hand, was another matter. She had never gone as wild in her berserker rage as she had now. Her teeth had all become pointed, her fangs extending 'til they were inches long. She leaped at Jack's back, biting Jack's throat with her whole mouth, her hands crashing deep into the tree like it was deadwood on either side of Rose, who was staring at her wide-eyed. Cora pushed back, taking the side of Jack's throat with her. She somersaulted and turned in the air, savoring the taste of blood in her mouth. Despite the fact that she had received no new blood, as soon as the twins had detected the danger, they had grabbed their weapons and ran. Even though Syvra had pierced Jack in a few vital areas with her arrows and the side of his throat was torn off, he was still going. "You have that much of a will to live?" she snarled, her voice shaking the trees around her. A long sword and an axe, her traditional weapons, appeared seemingly out of nowhere in her hands. "Then let me crush that will!" She screamed it out, mixing the words with her growling so they came out terrible. No amount of ice piercing her body would stop her now. She ran at him with speed that exceeded that of even a vampire, her swordblade flashing, her axe blade black as night, not reflecting any of the coming dawn.

Jack laughed, his eyes wild an inhuman. “I must live, Syvra!” Jack called to Cora before she charged him, not even registering that there were twins in the clearing. His mind had lost all sense of reason, finally devoid of any amount of sanity he had so desperately clung too. “This is proof that Demyx was too weak to rule. He has fallen, and now it is my turn!” He raised his right hand leisurely as she threw herself at him, sending needle-pointed shards of ice in her direction. He would have taken satisfaction in her slow, agonizing death next to her lover, but to his great dismay, the flying ice shattered before it could touch her. Only one hit its mark, tearing through Cora’s midsection, but it didn’t seem to cause her even the slightest bit of harm. Jack’s smile quickly faded at the sight of the beast that had been unleashed on him. He made to turn and run, but he stumbled over Rose, who had fallen to the side when Cora pushed away and had previously been frozen in shock. Jack’s attempt to flee had woken her up, though, and she had kicked out a foot hat his heel. It wasn’t much of an attack, but it was enough to cause him to stumble. Jack’s body twisted and he found himself staring into the eyes of Cora, her mouth opened wide in anticipation of taking the rest of his neck. Surely he would have fallen, had Cora not gotten to him first, sending his mangled body crashing into a tree. Rose crawled away from the scene and over to Syvra, not able to bring herself to look at Demyx’s limp body.
