Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Its the only game I own that I can play without getting frustrated with right now, I had previously finished Snake Eater again and finally got the Tsuchinoko... but I can't play those games too close together... all that talking.

I've been contemplating playing FF XII again... but I really just didn't like that game. I keep thinking if i play it again I'll like it, but I don't see that happening.

So when in doubt... SAND BOX GAMES!!!

I've been contemplating most of the titles for a while actually, just to lazy to try something new. gonk

As for XII, I liked what they tried to do with the plot. They did try and take a very new and different angle, and I liked that. However... it felt like it However it felt they concentrated so much on every other part of the that they forgot to actually develop any of the characters. The angsty romance of the most recent FF incarnations may be a bit repetitive but at least you felt something for the characters.

I felt the characters in XII had a little more depth than the characters from FF I and pinch less than those in II. A bit of exageration. Also... the political plot felt so half assed. All this old history that sounds like it would have been AWESOME if there was just even a fraction more detail, but no. We barely know anything of Rozaria, don't even get to see it, and the introduction of El Cid was so late and felt forced.

Was the gameplay fun? Yeah, for the most part. The graphics were also very nice and the Hunts made for an interesting game. However I still feel they spent too much time on all the technical aspects of the game that they forgot to develop the story beyond the basic concept that was presented in pre-design.

I wanted to know more about the Judge, beyond the Primers, more about the Espers and the Eucuria etc.

First it was on online version of Final Fantasy which shamefully made its way into the official FF continuity, then it was god knows how many piss poor FF franchise sequels.

Square has dropped the Final Fantasy ball and has now proceeded to cut a hole in the ball and hump it.

I know I'm ranting but XII just pissed me off so bad. I did try to replay... I got to Tomaj's tutorial about licenses and hunts. I haven't been able to put the game back in the console since, which makes me very sad because I really did like the Bart wher Fran and Balthier showed up, another section of the story I was pissed there was no expansion on.


As for GTA, its something I can play for the stories, which I like because they're like over exaggerated crime movies in which YOU do all the crime. MGS... I've just liked those games since Solid and the story is enough for me to want to play plus the game play can be fun... when you have the patients.

I suppose I didn't have as much of a problem with it as you did, but I completely agree when it comes to the story and characters. I really wish things had been fleshed out more for us, instead of "Hi! I'm an orphan." "Hi! I'm an orphan too." "Hello! I'm a princess." "My profession is pirate and leading man." "Pirate and hot bunny lady." "Dead soldier."
Same thing with the story.
Overall, I really liked the game, but my biggest problem with it, is I found it was to short. That's not to say there wasn't enough to do in it, or I didn't spend over 100 hours playing the game. But if you aren't doing a bunch of the sidequests, and leveling your characters up like crazy for EXP and LP, doing hunts, and finding espers, and you're ONLY playing the story, it can be a really short game. I'd say there's only about 20-30 hours worth of game play for just the storyline.


I've heard nothing bad about GTA, except word from angry parents and Jack Thompson. But angry parents are stupid, and Jack Thompson's a douche. But they've just been games where I haven't been able to put the disc in and play it for what it is.
And with the release of MGS4 I've been considering going out and buying the older games, but I don't think that's going to happen.
But if I get a Ps3 for christmas I would like to get Call of Duty 4. I watched X-Play's review for it, and they had nothing bad to say. Their cons to the game was "...Nothing really."
