Fang gave a small grin, and nodded lightly. The Serpent started to move...and moved away from them.

"Get us a good place to go from. We'll let them deal with the food chain rather then us this time. Besides, votes come through. Illindal is going to be under siege in a night, and with the detachment of Riders, it should but more then enough stress on them."

Hunter was on deck of his ship, wiping blood off his hands while pouring run into a few injuries.

"Get ready to move. Mister Richards, make sure he stays in the Brig. full time guards. Des, throw off the mooring lines, lets start on our way out of here, before the Claw gets sank, preferably."

Teach was nursing a gunshot wound, and a few head wounds and sitting in the brig. It had taken a fight, but they'd come to an agreement. Teach would go to the Prince, but he'd have some tricks to get free on the ship and find out where the chest was, with means to contact Hunter. then hunter would get the chest and get him out of this predicament.

He let her lecture and go on, feeling no need to respond in kind to her words. He had his reasons and that was plenty. But he also understood why she was so upset and knew it would take her a bit to get over her anger. Thus he removed himself from her presence and went back to scrubbing the deck.

Startling in surprise as Chy bit the dust, he took a deep breath. The bird's energies were far from lifeless and he knew it would take a lot more than that to destroy Chylithair. That didn't make it any less startling. And then Savvy was back up to her old tricks and he was suddenly in control of a snorting, pawing Nightmare. He so hated horses. Holding the reins to keep the horse at least under the illusion of control, he let her toss whatever it was she had and monitored her energy levels. "Don't overdo, Savryn."

Eilynne was watching it all with a serene expression. She conferred with Rahsaveer once more and then watched as Fang's ship was literally tilted on a wave of sand, moving left and then right, faster and faster and faster. Fang wasn't moving forward anymore because whatever forces were controlling things had formed the sand into a bit of a cinder block, stopping the Serpent neatly. The ship continued to rock, tossing men and anything else free as it groaned mightily and very nearly capsized. At the last possible second, it settled back on the sand and began moving again as if nothing had happened minus whatever it had lost.

Bouncing and giggling as things began to pick up again, she honed in on the struggling thing in the jar moments before it was bounced into the sand by the rocking movements of the ship. "It's leaking..." That was gross. "A treat for the icky scaly things. Now it's leaking in the sands..." Which would mean lots of sand sharks or whatever else were coming to gobble the wounded creature up. "Boom."

He continued shouting at pirates in various nonsensical lingo that sounded close to the actual but only enough to be funny. The pirates ignored him for the most part, a few lifting their heads and giving a chuckle now and then. Cyvalor didn't care, he was rather enjoying stomping around deck and yelling.

The Claw could take a few hits by theory but Gem had only just replaced the ship and injuries to it wasn't going to bode well for the rest of the journey, even if they got away from Fang this time. "You and Sky both. We're not leaving anyone behind except those who choose to stay. I will be fine, just need to stay like this until danger has past." A nod in agreement though. "Savryn has the coordinates for the next shard so as soon as we are no longer threatened, we can chart and head for that location." Giving her one of those knowing looks, he swooped back upwards just in time to watch all the commotion caused by the obstruction in the Serpent's path. Good... that bought time for them and with a few more measured wing beats into their sails, he estimated that they were well out of range. Turning to the strange dragon beside him, he cocked his head. "Who are you?"

"You are enjoying this far too much." But he took his own personal pleasure in watching the Claw gain distance and sail smoothly out into the sands. "Leaking does not help to identify it anyways. Think they might want to look or prod at it?" They meaning each of their respective masters, of course. He was sure Kaz would find it intriguing, no matter what it was. Anything that Fang looked at like it was his own rotting heart was surely useful in some way.

Fang saw it hit the dirt, and cursed lightly.

"All hands, Brace for impact, use the washes. Make ready we're about to have company."

The crew worked dilligently, neverminding anything else, and Fang picked up his things and looked at the Gale Claw. she was out of gun range, but she wasn't going to be out of range of what was coming. serves them right.

The sand bulged massively, and the little jar was soon swallowed in a black fanged pit. tentacles the size of ships, sporting barbs in such numbers thrashed up through the sand, slamming the Serpent and finding only wood. it bellowed and the tentacles slunk back into the sand, but the surging sands soon slammed up under the Gale Claw, slamming along the deck, almost noticably going after Logan and the little gold...while others seemed to be acting like feelers, shifting in the air like they were looking for something.

When Logan noticed that the ship was pretty much underway and didn't need anymore wind in the sails he stopped what he was doing and went back to the deck, wings still on display if he decided to head off to Fang's ship and deal with the man himself. But when the Serpent suddenly hit a snag, or more to reason the actual land itself got pissed off with him, that's when Logan's eyebrow jumped up. Now he had seen weird things before, but a ship being forced to almost capsized by the land itself? That was just odd. At that moment Logan had to wonder what the hell kind of plane was this, freak storms, land is almost desert like with weird animals jumping out of them, and now it fights back. So like any other person Logan just watched with a confused look for a moment. "What the hell is that all about?" Seemed like any response one would have to a scene like that.

Though he decided it be better to get a different view of the action so with a small beat of his wings he took to the sky again, and suddenly he was confronted by the red dragon. "The name is Logan, and before you ask yes I am half human half dragon. I come from another plane and I've just been wandering...Gem has so kindly asked me to join her crew and so I decided to hop on board for the time being." He wanted to get rid of those annoying questions first. "And you must be the commander...right?" But before he could get an answer Logan's head snapped to the right and his wings took him quickly away from the odd like appendage that appeared out of the sand. "What the hell is that!?" His silver revolver was out in a blink of an eye, hammer cocked back and ready to let loose a stinging bullet.

"I can hold it for a while." Ears twitching though at the sudden changes in the ground around them. "Kelligrin, eyes, now." Something was happening and it sounded big and nasty and she didn't want any part of it, thusly giving silence energy made commands to bring about her creature. Now she was at a disadvantage with things and she didn't like it.

Gem couldn't help but give a laugh in victory a bit. "Serves him right, I'm not going to die here or by that things hands." Though things were getting really bad really quickly and she saw it coming. "Brace boys!" Keeping from falling as that impact hit. "Get to defense boys! Fire cleanses all!" Grabbing hold of Cyvalor as he had rolled by her from impact.

Nodding lightly to him, "We'll be safe." Though safe was a relative term it seemed as things quickly went down hill as...something came at them and instantly started to wreck havoc. She reacted on instinct, sliding Sky off her back and rounding around the front of the ship, pouncing on the squid with electricity still lacing her talons that were duly sunk the creature as well as fangs, wings flared for balance as she clawed.

He could say he was amused by all of that really. Fang pushed everyone's buttons it seemed. Even him though knew the danger that came from what he clearly recognized. Giving a growl he turned in the sand and in quick strides was over with a stream of black fire. Frankly he didn't care if the white got hurt or not by any of it because there was a greater worry here that had to be delt.

Lurching, he kept ahold of the reins and shook his head. "I've never seen anything like that before, Vryn. It's like...a giant squid that seems to have been called by some bleeding thing in a jar. Or something like that. But it doesn't seem to want the ships or the humans. It's going after the dragons."

"Fire!" Being held by Gem didn't bother him in the least and he had gone tumbling from the force of the impact, nearly taken by one of those long tentacles. "Fire cleanses all!" Glancing down at her, he frowned. "What's that mean?"

She wasn't about to let all of her plans be destroyed in one quick motion. Nothing moved on her at all but Jae was yanked aside and tossed into the sands while the burning squid was tossed into the Serpent. She glared at it through sparking eyes, the stars her race was known for turning a deep bloodred. She had warned and warned and now she was finished warning. Communing with Rahsaveer and pooling their power, the squid was lifted into the air, driven back down by the sand and buried. A large boom, set off shortly after Areesa's words finished the beast off, sending pieces that managed to escape the sands in all directions.

"You're no fun, Xekey." She bounced happily in her spots, watching the death and destruction rage. A burnt squid being tossed onto the Serpent? If they didn't get that dragonfire put out they'd have much bigger things to worry about. "No. Lynnie has other...plans." Bouncing happily as the explosion occurred and a sand wave gave the Claw the last push it needed.

"well. you don't see that everyday."

looking through his spyglass at the Gale claw, Hunter gave a small smirk.

"Serves her right for being so uppity and wanting to get out so fast. but we're in no position to help...it's out of range for us."

though taking a look at the sails.

"Mister Richards, see if we can coax a bit more out of these sails. Better late then never."

the squid let out it's bellow, but wasted no time at all. this creature ate dragons, and it was going to prove how deadly a predator it was. Jae's talons tore into flesh, and the reaction was the tentacle she had hold of snapped around her, the barbs piercing and already starting the effect she'd be quite familiar with this time around.

The flames got attention, tentacles flailing on fire and one diving under the sand, before several decided apparently that a good offense was the best defense, lashing out and attempting to grab hold of the black dragon while one was slamming around on the deck of the gale claw, sensing a little gold snack was there still someplace.

the sands spread a bit to reveal a huge gaping fanged mouth that breathed horribly rancid breath, already attempting to pull Jae to it, and exposing jut barely the hint of eyes...before it was slung away and buried down, and implosion taking care of that predator.

Fang cursed under his breath, and set about getting his crew together. the black was certain to come down on his head for this, but it had no been his intention for what just happened. that had been the fault of whatever had decided to suddenly lurch and near capsize his ship.

"We'll keep our distance boys. get our things in order for now, there's no point trying to sail if all our gear is going to be shifting around down there. the last thing we need is a munitions fire."

Logan, half-human half-dragon, foreign visitor to this plane... All of it was filed away for future scrutiny as suddenly things took a turn for the worst again. "Yes, I am. And that contraption won't do much damage, just stay out of its way." Circling the area for a quick circle to access the damage and who was taking care of what, he descended closer to pick up the metaphorical pieces. First, he got the little sky blue's attention and gave her a look that was pressing close to urgent. "Sky, I need you to fly. High and out of reach of that creature but stay above the ship so I can find you later. Go."

As long as she was out of the way, he had a feeling there was no immediate danger for her now. No, others were closer to those gaping teeth and nearly indestructible tentacles... far too close for comfort. His expression hardened at the sight before him but before he could swoop down into the putrid mess himself, it just ended... He suspected it was a result of all sorts of retaliatory action but only one concern rested on his mind now. Finding Jae in the sand a ways away, he pried the severed barbed tentacle off her and changed back to neutral form so that he could take off his top and use it as a dressing of sorts. "You have to change back, Jae. The pain will be isolated and concentrated worse but the bleeding will be easier to control."

Logan looked at the commander for a moment and he grinned, a lonely fang poked out as if to say hi. "Trust me, this weapon is a lot more stronger than it looks Commander." Logan then quickly moved out of the way as the large tentacle decided to come after him again. "After this is done...I want answers." He didn't know that this was to be expected, Gem owed him an explanation for all of this, the squid, the sudden moving sands, everything.

With a thought to see what was going on Logan went higher, his eyes scanning the surface to see what the creature was doing and what he could do to stop it. So after putting his Gun away Logan decided to change into his dragon form, but before he could even start it the large beast was picked up and thrown away before the sands took it again and then...it was gone for good. With a puzzled look Logan set himself back down on the deck and made his way to Gem, there he set his hand and claw on his hips and looked at her, not with an angry look but one that was just confused. "Okay Gem, you have me as a temporary crew member and just awhile ago things were fine. Now in the span of a moment we faced doom with Fang, his boat got rocked by the sands themselves, and now a squid bent on making me its dinner was thrown away and sunk before being destroyed." He cocked an eyebrow and paused for a moment. "So whats going on here?"

“I am so sick of sea things that turned into sand things.” Though power fluxes were never good and it was clearly picked up as Laerethe were taking things into their own hands. “Dragon eating things. Well I can’t have that.” Her own bone creature turning into dust with a snap of her fingers and a kick to her horse to get the mare moving once more even if Kelligrin had the reins. “What’s happening now?”

“It means that fire is always the answer to pesky things.” Keeping a tight hold on him and trying to keep control of things even as panic was ensuing. At least her men knew to at least try to keep things together and what not. Especially as it seemed they were going to get some help of the unusual sorts and she didn’t have time to boggle before she was forced to remember to retain control of her ship at the sudden speed once more.

Her attention promptly turned to Logan as he started demanding answers. “Firstly, that’s Captain to you. Secondly I never said things were going to be fine. These are the sand seas and they’re full of nasty things. As a dragon thing I would expect you to recognize supernatural powers when you see them. That’s what’s going on here. Any other answers you have to get from Kaznec.” Shaking her head and looking to the sands briefly where dragons were still gathered. “I suggest you be careful when you approach him about such things.”

She got herself up, shaking sand off and disoriented a bit before Kaznec was in front of her and she nodded before a run and a leap into the air, taking to the darkening sky as she was told to, getting above it all but not high enough to the cloud layer and following as told. Didn’t need to tell her twice.

Jae didn’t let up even as the tentacle had gotten hold of her, sharp points piercing through scales with little effort. That familiar draining feeling was almost instant and she flautered a moment as not only that but apparently someone else had a plan as she skidding through the sands…and from one trouble to another at horrid smell and not to pretty a sight, sand sliding with her as well. Trying to push up and dig claws in she didn’t get to far but it seemed she didn’t have to worry. Someone else was in control here and she was thankful that they were on her side.

Fight the nasty draining feeling. Had to get that thing off first. Mental inventory said those barbs were nicely lodged around her middle and around one back leg as well. Just had get that restrictive grip off. A weak sort of flare of wings to try and loosen the wrapped tentacle before someone else was doing it for her and she was surprised yet relieved to see it was Kaznec, despite the growl of pain from her throat at his helping. A huff of breath at his words before indeed giving off that cloak of silver mist that let her change back to neutral state, already feeling herself being forced back there anyway. Couldn’t help but hitting the sand on her knees with a scream at that pain that racked through her, hands gripping at sand. And she thought the little one that did that to her last time hurt…this was ten times that.

He was versed in these creatures to an extent and flailing tentacles were met with sharp tail blades, cutting clean through the appendages with ease as he knew where exactly to do so. Last thing that was needed was that thing to get a hold of him. Surprised was a good way to describe things as that squid was duly taken care of. Good riddance and he didn’t care who did what. That thing was no good at all. Looking over to where his nephew and the white were a ways off, he trotted over and come to stand overtop the two, providing a protection of sorts as his eyes turned to the horizon to watch Fangs movements. Had the means to summon those things did he? Fang just moved up the list of people Sae would have to deal with.

"Adaptations to the environment to survive." Shaking his head and watching as the action more or less just died. "The squid grabbed onto that white dragon but it looks like the red one is taking care of her. She looks hurt pretty bad though." Wincing as Jae's scream affected his sensitive ears. "Squid thing is dead by some supernatural power. Maybe those small creatures with the stars in their eyes? And the other ship is leaving."

"But I don't have fire." That was worrisome since that might cut down on his usefulness. He was still being held but that was just fine with him, he liked being against Gem like that. She was warm and snugly and he knew she wouldn't let anything get him. "Yeah you scaly rag! Call her Cap'n and show some bloody respect." Giving a nod to punctuate that. Then he frowned at Logan and shook his head. "Don't ye have eyes? It 'sploded."

"You should not have interfered." The Laerethe were communicating between themselves with no one else capable of hearing the conversation. Even the Seon's were blocked out.

"It was requested."

"By whom?"

"I am not at liberty to say."

"You know the Rules-"

"Save it, Eilynne. It was allowed. The time is coming and our freedom is becoming more absolute. Restrictions are lifting, don't you feel them?"

She flexed her fingers once and nodded. "Beware of the Line, Rahsaveer. Lest you overstep and displease."

"Well me being from a different plane, one filled with more than just sand, prompts me to see things with shocked eyes Captain. Also even though I am half dragon that does not mean I now everything is supernatural in it's best, after all things do vary from plane to plane." Logan wasn't angry at Gem, he was expressing his side of the fence. Though he looked to the small dragon with a blink before he turned back out to the sands. "That's not what I meant." He said to the boy before nodding in Gem's direction. "Thanks for the warning." With his wings already on display Logan jumped over the edge and took off to wards those out on the sands, and it seemed there was a black dragon too, how interesting. So when he landed a few feet from them he made eye contact with said black dragon before turning to the Commander. "Is she alright?" He would ask his questions when the red dragon was alright and in the mood.
PostPosted: Tue Jun 24, 2008 10:53 pm

There was but one focus in the world right now. The ship could sail off for all he cared. He paid no attention to the shadow that suddenly loomed over them and Logan merely got a curt answer. "No." No, she was obviously not alright and that scream made him visibly cringe, stomach tightening into its own set of knots. It did not look good. Not only was the blood hideously red against pale skin and gushing out between his fingers, there were pieces of broken scaling that were lodged in the wounds because the transformation didn't accommodate for such physical stress. He took care of the lesser of two evils first, tying cloth around her stomach and then pulling her into his lap to stop potential flailing that could cause more harm. "Sshhh..." The only kind of comfort he really knew how to provide. So he alternated between those soft sounds and occasional murmurings of her name in her ear as he carefully picked broken pieces of scale from her thigh. There had to be something he could do, something to help the pain at least... He had to get her back to the ship soon though, they weren't very safe out here and he needed water and whatnot to clean the wounds more throughly.

“Doesn’t make me respect them any more.” Well…someone was either in the process of dying or were experiencing pain beyond belief. Made her frown as her ears twitched in response to the painful noise that was painful to her as well, tips flushing purple slightly as the blood rose to her head in reaction of distaste against the noise. “The star eyed things do lots of interesting actions. And that white has more bad luck than she does scales. I’ve already had to purge her system once before. Hm…I suppose this is going to set my plans back if the commander is thus preoccupied.”

Her brain was trying to direct her into actions to help herself but her body was refusing to move in any manner, more content to know that staying still would probably be the most pain free but not the best choice for survival. Pupils had already narrowed to slits and elongated canines were quite visible as her jaw was slack in her trying to breathe and quell shaking, or just letting out pained noise. Clearly her self salvation survival instincts were kicking in, trying to protect her. But Fate had a different plan today as cloth slipped around her to try and stem blood flow before she was pulled off her hands and knees into his lap. Another noise to that, movement making pain feel fresh before she registered it was him and she forced herself to relax…or at least as best as possible, save for her tail which was making it quite known how she was feeling as the end was lashing back and forth in the sand.

It was a soft noise that she believed that she had never really heard from him before. At least not in the manner of telling her to be quiet for some reason. Ears honed in on it and made her turn her eyes up to him a moment before burying her face in his shoulder and letting out another scream into his shoulder as he took to tending wounds as best he could in a high pressure and frantic sort of situation. Kaz had always been good in those things though, his head was about him when everyone else was letting it all get to them. One hand had come to grip at his other shoulder, sharpened fingernails trying to grip tight against scales as if it would ease some pain.

The smell of blood was acute in his nostrils and it wasn’t pleasant. Blood could cause so many problems and it wouldn’t be just for those he was momentarily fence jumping for. It would attract anything that was near enough in the sands. Gold eyes narrowed slightly as the other…whomever it was, looked at him pointedly. Who was this and how badly was he going to mess up plans? “Now is not the time for moot questions or for being gentle either. Better get off the sands with her…a drop of blood is more than enough. You either get up with her, or you leave her.” He didn’t care if she was severely hurt or was dying or anything, but he did not want to see his nephew fall victim like his own sister had. All over another’s actions as well. But the boy didn’t look keen on anything but her. If he was more foolish he’d pull them apart and send his nephew off…but his scent still lingered on the girl which may mean a very territorial red and black dragon would be striking out at him. Sae wanted to save himself that trouble…he had enough what with Fangs new developments.

“That’s alright Treasure, we can make fire.” Frankly she was still holding the boy so he didn’t get in the way of anyone in his trying to help and she was positioned just so that she was steady and controlling the direction of the ship. If she put him down at the moment she’d throw her bearings. Jostling him lightly to adjust her hold for comfort she gave a look over her shoulder. “Robins! What happened to our motley crew?”
