Paul gave a little grin of success. A little oil on Joe's jacket (sorry, Joe) and he'd have a beautiful disguise. Well, or he could steal this man's clothing; that might be more effective. Either way, he began moving closer to the opponent, very quietly until he felt he was in range to start taking shots that just couldn't miss, the sort of shots that would silence him before he could do anything. One such shot was one to the spine; Paul proceeded to put a round in the back of his neck right at his spine then one through the small of his back, again through the spine. At the same time he began approaching much more quickly, preparing to physically beat down his opponent.

Joe looked up and sighed. "Oh boy. Well, it's nice to meet you, Maiyeta. I'm Joe Simpson, elementalist, previously a Warlock, then a Hunter, and now I believe I belong to the Djinni...aspect of the Council." He smiled at her. "And as for the plane...we got attacked and had no choice but to transfer it here, or all of these people would have died." He flicked a thumb over his shoulder at the rather confused people.
Marco took off after Paul. Even if he didn't need to help with taking the mechanic down, he could still drag Paul back to cover in the event of yet another stupid action on his part.

The man in front of Paul had crumpled at the first shot. It didn't appear anyone had noticed.
--
Maiyeta nodded. Her hair seemed to shift between black and brown depending on the lighting. Which, Joe noticed, there was no definite source of. The shadows indicated a sun that was not readily apparent.
"Mmm. Who attacks a plane full of normals and a Djinn?" Maiyeta asked.

Marco relaxed into the background. Paul was probably better at being low-profile, anyways.
"A Sage?" Joe said with a small grin. "Or rather, something pretending to be a Sage. My sources tell me that it was really a Masker, and for whatever reason I was supposed to believe that it was a Sage."

Maiyeta hissed. "A Masker, eh? Those bastards. What are they trying to pull now? And how do you know it was a Masker?"

"Oh, you don't like them either? That's good!" Joe relaxed a bit. Maiyeta seemed a bit more trustworthy. "How did I know? When he and I were fighting, we...I...I touched his mind." Joe began to shiver. "It was...it was horrible. I never want to feel that again." He turned away a bit and looked off into the blue.

"The Maskers are... fearful things," Maiyeta replied. "They don't think like us, don't feel like us. They're unlike any other sentient life form. Even demons and angels think more or less the same way. But Maskers... they're something different." She shook her head. "Nobody likes them. Tyrg exposed a plan of theirs - they were attempting to replace every major leader and Councilor with Maskers."

"The Tyrg don't like them either?" Joe murmured, trying to distract himself. "At least we have something in common, then." He smiled a bit. "Had a bad run-in with them just before I had one with the Masker. Just a bad day in general."

Paul grabbed the hat and dropped it onto his head, examining the scope. In the meantime, he grabbed the toolbox and examined the shirt. Grody, but it didn't look like he had a choice; he started pulling off the jacket and his H&K shirt, tossing them onto one of the pipes. "Marco, hold the clothes and stay out of sight unless you think you can blend in too. I'm gonna see if I can find something out. Hopefully no one will recognize these clothes..."

"Everyone hates the Maskers. They were a myth for a long time," Maiyeta answered. "But then... Tyrg got video. They let a Masker into their midst - outfitted one of their most loyal members as a general the Maskers wanted to replace. They secretly filmed the kill, captured the Masker, and presented their evidence to the Council. The Maskers declared that if they didn't get a Council seat they would wage a war on 'us;' a demon was pushed off the Council a month into the conflict."

Marco nodded and hid Paul's clothes. He settled in to wait for another mechanic, if possible.
Joe looked up. Literally, up. "Oh! Not to be rude, but...what are you?"

A heavily augmented man walked by, nodding at Paul before continuing past Marco.

"Like I said, an Outlander," Maiyeta answered. "I'm a Drakken, to be precise. Our platform is linked to a ley line near a volcano on Earth in the Spheres, so we get a lot of fire element. It makes us stronger, but it also turns all the lizards near us into wyverns."

Marco sighed. This might be a bit more difficult than he expected.
Joe's eyebrows went up. "Really now? That's really interesting. I'd like to learn more about this place, and your people, if that's possible. For starters, who controls the leyline you're attached to?"

"Nobody," Maieta replied. "The volcano is totally submerged. Apparently, cyNet3 fills mana batteries off it occasionally, though."

"Really now?" Joe asked in interest. "Would you mind terribly if I told my masters about it? I'm sure they could secure it with a few Marids, and it wouldn't affect your life here. At least, I think. "Oh, and I have a mana cell as well. No one seems to want to tell me, but can you tell me if this is a big one?" Joe pulled it out of his pocket. Noticing that it was very nearly empty, Joe topped it off with the ridiculous amount of mana that he was drawing in.
