Lin shook her head, "No, that would be it."
She wrapped the feather back up and handed it to Aranhil, since he would need that as well.
Miyuki sensing the grown ups were done hurried up to the counter and tugged on her Mommy's pants.
"All done?"
"All done, now it's a secret," Lin looked at her.
"I remember!"

"Secret," Aranhil repeated, taking the feather as well. "Got it."
Elros and Alena stepped up behind Lin. "Sounds like it's a good time for us to finish up," he smiled. He passed across a set of golden necklace and earrings that Alena had picked out. "Please."
Aranhil smiled and they finished the transaction quickly. Very soon, they were ready to go.
"Where next?" Alena asked Lin as they left the shop, her new jewelry sparkling in the sunlight. Rather than packing it up, she had decided to wear it. The gold complemented her hair and eyes, suiting her very well indeed.

"Candy shop!" Miyuki exclaimed.
What trip to a new city would be complete without candy?
"That will be the last shop on our trip," Lin told her, "How about the carpenter's shop instead?"
As Lin rather not encourage her daughter's sweet tooth at the moment, but it wouldn't hurt to drop by there and get something later on.

Alena giggled at Miyuki. She had to admit she might have expected something like that - of course, she had known Miyuki mostly in Amon Darthir, and there had been no secret about her sweet tooth.
"The carpenter sounds good to me," Elros spoke up. "It is a skill that I have never acquired, but one that I admire."

"This way then," Lin motioned, "It's close."
Miyuki hurried onward to see more, she was completely interested in how it was different from Amon Darthir. Which was why she didn't find the looking at all boring.

Alena tilted her head slightly and watched Miyuki as they headed forward.
"She seems quite excited about this trip," she commented softly to Lin. "Is this her first time in the city here? She was often in Amon Darthir ..."

"Pretty much, we only passed through the city on our way to Amon Darthir, and at most we only spent maybe a day at the palace here. This would be new to her."
It also helped that Miyuki was now willing to look for herself instead of just wait for her parents.

"It shows," Alena murmured. She smiled to herself. "It's very sweet."
Elros chuckled and reached for Alena's hand. "You're just as excited, I can tell," he grinned at her. "You just don't carry yourself the same way, is all."

Lin smiled as she stopped in front of one particular shop and opened the door. Which was when she noted that Miyuki seemed to have over shot the shop.
"Miyuki come back!" she called out, "You missed it!"
The little girl spun on her toes and hurried back the other way.

Elros looked at the sign above the door and grinned. "Here we are," he murmured, reaching to hold the door open for the others.
Alena led the way into the shop, looking over her shoulder to make sure that Lin and Miyuki were coming in as well.

Lin waited until she saw Miyuki prance into the shop before entering herself. Even though the jewelery shop had many pretty objects, Lin liked the smell of carved wood.
Miyuki on her part made a beeline for the boxes because they tended to have things carved into them, and less interest on the wooden toys. Probably because Miyuki ever really played with toys and her doll was like a security blanket was to an average Gaian child.

Alena smiled at Lin as Elros returned to her side.
"So what is your favourite part of this shop?" she asked Lin quietly. "I'm curious because it's the second place you wanted to bring us to."

Lin thought about it for a few moments, because honestly the only carved object she owned came from the Eastland and not the Southland and what had interested her about that was the hidden compartment.
"Just the elaborate carvings done, especially in the furniture," Lin admitted, "I've seen a lot of carved objects growing up. Urich Aldrich from the Borderlands especially loved carving things. When I was growing up I grew up along side his grandson Adanedhel, and he had this whole carving collection that filled the walls. I think really my reason for coming here is out of familiarity."

"We didn't have this sort of thing in Amon Darthir," Alena murmured, looking around. "There was not much wood to begin with, so what there was was usually reserved for furniture or necessities. Especially under the rule of the former king. The beauty is just beginning."
She smiled. "It would be nice to return in a hundred years or so and see how they have progressed."

Lin nodded, she could see that, she didn't see a lot of wood shops and from the few times she had outings with Aethos the former king was more concerned about being practical. Granted that is what happens when forced into constant war time conditions.
"It would be," she agreed, "Even in a decade or two actually."
