"That's it?" Alena asked, looking at Lin curiously.

Elros read the shop's name in High Elven, the way it was written, then translated it into Common Elvish for Alena's benefit. "Elurin Designs," he said. "The name doesn't give much of a clue ..."

"That's the one," Lin grinned recognizing the name, "Elurin and his son Aranhil run this shop. They are very good at what they do."

She recalled seeing the butterfly pin her mother had gotten, Lin had seen it for as long as she could remember but didn't know until she first met Aranhil that he had made it. Opening the door she motioned for the others to go in first.

"Miyuki, don't touch anything now."

"Yes Mommy,"
her daughter replied in a song a song sort of way before entering the shop.

"Good morning!" Aranhil's warm voice rang out in High Elven as the bell above the door tinkled softly, announcing their entrance. "Welcome to Elurin Designs!"

He spotted Lin and broke into a wide grin. "Welcome back!" he said brightly, switching to the Common Tongue. "It's been a long time! And I see you have some new friends with you!"

Lin smiled widely, she was hoping it would be Aranhil who would be manning the front this time.

"Yes, this is Sir Elros and his wife Alena, they're visiting here for a bit before heading to the Eastland, and this-"

"Mommy look at the pretty necklace!" Miyuki was pointing up high on a shelf (she was the size of a six year old elven child) while keeping her free hand behind her back.

"Would be my daughter Miyuki," she finished, "I see it sweetie."

"Ah, I wondered perhaps," Aranhil grinned. He looked at Elros and Alena and bowed his head respectfully. "It's a pleasure to meet you," he said sincerely.

The two bowed their heads back to him. "Likewise," Elros replied warmly. "I must apologize on behalf of my wife, she does not speak either High Elven or the Common Tongue, though I can assure you that she is glad to be here as well."

Making her way to the counter, Lin checked over her shoulder to make sure Miyuki was staying out of trouble. This was also good because the more Miyuki was distracted that less she could tell Earendil if she let it slipped.

"I wished I could have introduced you to her sooner, but Earendil and I are always on the move," she laughed a bit, "In fact I'll only be here a week and then I'm heading back to visit my parents."

Really that is what it had become.

"But first," she set the wrapped bundle on the counter, "I was hoping to commission you to do this jewelery piece for me."

"Oh, I'm honoured!" Aranhil said warmly, his face flushing with pleasure. He knew that in Gaia Lin could get many things that weren't possible here, and the fact that she had chosen him to do something special meant a lot to him. "Tell me all about it!"

Elros and Alena took that as their cue to go and browse, and headed off to look at the jewelry that was on display.

Lin unwrapped the cloth to reveal a single feather, which had been prepared shortly after Lin realized that she wanted to be with Earendil for life, and had it with her since the beginning of the trip. It would stay preserved, it was the only feather that grew on her wings that could last indefinably after being plucked. Though Lin needed some help from her mother to find the feather in the first place (it was so much easier to get someone else to do the plucking).

"It is a tradition among angels to give their feather which has been decorated and made into a necklace to the person they wish to marry."

She realized she forgot the sketch Trisha had given her and rummaged around in her purse to find it, unfolding it and showing Aranhil the idea. Like most promise feathers the feather itself was in cage like structure, only this one looked like leaves and ivy which had ensnared the feather.

"This is what I had in mind for it..."

Aranhil took the sketch and looked at it carefully. It was a beautiful design, and he only hoped that he could do it justice.

"What material?" he asked, glancing over at Lin. "Silver? Gold? Littinum? Pure? Alloy?"

"Silver," she replied.

It was a debate that required her to go to friends for help because Lin knew very little about jewelery, but the metal was a light one she thought suited Earendil better.

Aranhil nodded. "It's going to take ... several days," he murmured, running his fingers over the sketch. "How soon do you need it?"

He could always go faster than he wanted, but it would result in a lower quality of work, something he didn't like in the least.

"I'm leaving in a week, but if you need more time go ahead, I could have one of my siblings pick it up, I know how the time difference is so I would be willing to pay you ahead of them if needed."

She figured Helen or Trisha, or any of her other siblings who had interest in the Southland.

"I'd rather you pay only when it's finished," Aranhil replied. "I don't know how much silver it is going to use, or how much work it's going to be. I don't want to overcharge you."

He smiled. "But a week should be enough time. Shall I send word to the palace when it's finished?"

"Yes, thank you," Lin nodded.

She was relieved it would be done before she left, that way she would have it with her.

Aranhil smiled and tucked the sketch into his pocket. "I'll start on it this afternoon," he promised. "I'll get Father to take over the shop for a few days, he wouldn't mind."

He folded his hands together and smiled at Lin. "Anything else I can do for you?"
