Princess Nausicaa Onyxavia sketched this cute doll chibi for me! *sigh* I really like Onyxavia art, but as a person.....few months ago I ordered an inked commission in her older shop, and was really happy for it.....but for few months she didn't do it, didn't anwser for my pms didn't anwser in the shop and didn't cancel the trade....one day she closed it without a word and abandoned it. now she again, accepted my commission, but it seems she's not going to draw it....if it's really like that, it'll be the last time I order from her, no matter how much I like her art = =

I hate that, littledream. It pisses me off to see people like freitag back and taking commissions and so popular, when she canceled a commission she'd already started sketching for me once just because she "didn't feel like doing it". I refuse to commission her and I try to get everyone I can to not commission her now because of that. It's just a shitty thing to do.

Eh, I admit I've cancelled things before because I couldn't even start it due to my schedule, but, like... I refund. :F... I mean, I just don't care with Gaia commissions, so giving back gold isn't a big deal. Y_Y;;...

It annoys me when that happens, too. I've never done that, gaia commission or otherwise. People who end up waiting a long time for their commissions from me tend to get either WIPs PMed to them, or free junky things if I haven't started it at all.
I do have like 3 things that I've been owing for over a year, but I do fully intend on finishing those >_>;; I just need MODIVATION.
What I'm mostly guilty of is taking other commissions for smaller things, and finishing them first, while I'm in the middle of big projects. Like that flash auction I had a while ago, I owe Gendou two animations at the moment.. which.. well, he's seen a WIP for one of htem, but I haven't been working on it much because I haven't been able to get into much of an animation groove.
During the time that I've owed him those pics, I've opened a temprary shop and done... well... a lot of headshots and chibis. (though only 3 chibi commissions. Lots of freebies done, mostly of RL friends and SoA characters)
Sometimes I wonder how it must seem, that I've been owing those pictures for however long, and keep taking and finishing things in between >.>;

well, it happens...sometimes....I also had to cancel few comissions some time ago, because of an major art block, and I didn't want the people to wait forever....but I wouldn't be that angry if she at least informed me that she can't do it....but it seems she doesn't even care, and that's what pisses me off... *sigh* well, I asked her in her thread again today....if she ignores this one, I'll just stop waiting...

I think artist have every right to cancel "gold" comissions. Even if I'm an art whore and all, I would'nt feel good if the artist did'nt enyoy drawing for me. I understand if they cancel even though I might get sad/dissapointed, never irritated. You can not mean that it's a shitty thing to have a change of mind, it's not like a waitinglist is a contact that forces the artist to draw anything they're asked to.

Chemie, dear, the whole point of both me and Nora is not that artists didn't draw for us, but that they were rude. I am dissapointed when somebody cancels a commission for me, but never angry. I become angry when they don't say a word that they won't do the picture, or even don't cancel the trade, or when they inform me about it in a very rude manner. When you waited over a year for a picture, at least a 'sorry' would be nice to hear...

I agree that it really really sucks when an artist cancels your commission and refunds/cancels the trade but it's even worse when they don't say anything about it. It's unprofessional. And there's nothing I hate more than someone who essentially "opens a business" and is unable to be professional. Even just for Gaia gold. And it IS a contract if you pay for it but in LittleDream's case she never accepted the trade. I don't mean to be a b***h about this at all and I don't normally commission things on gaia anyway but. I understand what you mean, Woe but at the same time...that really sucks. (I love you, don't hate me for this.) This isn't aimed directly at you I've heard a couple other artists say the same thing. If you just don't care about Gaia gold commissions, which are still commissions for currency to a place where we all enjoy, why do them at all? Why build up someones hopes (who probably can't commission you for real money) by making yourself available on Gaia and just saying nevermind, I'm too busy for a gaia gold commission/It's not worth my time because it's just virtual gold that someone probably sold their skill/posted like mad/saved forever/donated real money for. You offered commissions on gaia for a reason why is it any different than a real money commission. You offer real money commissions to enjoy the real world/pay your bills, you offer gaia commissions to better enjoy the site/pay artists. It's different if you're quitting Gaia entirely. If you don't care about gaia gold, don't take gaia commissions. Give out freebies if you have the time, there's no obligation in that (unless you make it into a kiriban/bumping prize) I do understand the difference between reality and gaia but they should both have a certain amount of obligation if you chose to make your art available. Real money commissions should take priority especially if you need the money badly and it's alright for someone who is paying with gold to wait a bit as long as you keep them informed. People are a lot less likely to be annoying and angry if you keep in contact with them. [/end rant] I came here to show off some art. Really, I swear.
