I mean...technically, they change form...but they only change into one other form, so I don't think they'd count as real shapeshifters... They do; Hengeyokai too, basicly anything that has an inate shapshifting ability is counted as a shapeshifter...unless they just have the ability to inately cast a spell that fufills said function [As for why that is; well you have to know that a spell is just a formula that converts magical energy into a certain form with a certain function, which is why Burning Hands and Fireball are different spells, even though they are both fairly simple fire energy construts the formula used to shape them are vastly different from each other]
Though I think it's also of note that she had to take a basic-level shapeshifting class while pursuing a Dark Magic major in Valefor Academy. It's not officially laid out in Gaia canon, but I imagine basic-level shapeshifting in this universe involves turning oneself's body into pure dark element, then shaping their forms into something completely different from there, but never progressing from the state of being made up of pure dark element.
At the very least, Azura can become shadow in the form of smoke, or mist, or a cat, or a crow, you get the picture.
I have a looooooot of ideas about the workings of Gaia, I just don't talk about them because I'd make posts that are way too rambly and lengthy. rofl Evilweirdo 0 Anyway, as for shapeshifting spells, that reminds me of a certain brand of werewolfism in the Dresden Files. In that universe, "werewolves" are pretty much just people who know one spell: the wolf-shapeshifting one. Is that the sort of thing that you guys are talking about?

Werewolf rituals, huh? Reminds me of the "Gifts" in the New World of Darkness. I didn't really get into the Werewolf game in that line, but I do recall that they're rituals of some kind.
By the way, did anyone see that there is a new storyline manga (for Gaia, that is) up? Perhaps more surprisingly, the announcement system was used to actually announce something. Perhaps there's some hope yet.
I must admit that I'm curious about what's going to happen. Until then, perhaps it's time for an archive trawl.

Yeah. Azura sort of encouraged me to make it....I'm incredibly insecure about posting it, though. I had a similiar one on a different site once, but you have no idea how mean Tales fans can be when you do a Tales/Pokémon AU.... sweatdrop So.... I'm doing fine. Tired, of course, but fine. I would join that role play, Euphie. Just because I love chances to mix Arlin (Atelier Iris) with Pokémon.
Anyway, I'm ready to disable guild invites and send a rude message to the crew of that guild I quit awhile ago. They will not stop invitin me. Ugh!
