Plus, it's kind of hard to be offended over something that's fictional smile

That isn't true at all.

I'm overdosing on Top Gear as I lay here sickly. It is awesome.

Nat is right...fiction offends people rather easily. Look at the kooks who wanted to burn the Harry Potter books. Or ban To Kill a Mockingbird. Or any of the other books on the ALA list. People are nuts.

Or when people go off about what one of their favorite comic characters are doing. I do it. It's not uncommon. It's something that a lot of people do. Doesn't mean that they're real. I've noticed some just express their feeling vividly. I avoid some forums because of it.

Harley's look for the sequel to Arkham Asylum.

I dislike the nickname of the costume as well. It's a bad costume for Harley Quinn. Would I like it in different colors and on someone else? Yes, I would. I don't see the costume as whorish. I see it as a form of expression not suited for Harley Quinn. Am I impressed with how the video game has her body language and outfits? No, I'm not in the least impressed. Does their poor impersonation of Harley Quin make me not want to play the game? Yes it does. For the simple fact that I will not put money into it for how she is portrayed. I'm probably not right in the reasoning behind not playing the game but it's how it is. It's just how I feel about the matter. People love the game and at times I wish I owned it but I just have no real want to actually do it. DO I want that outfit? Sure, in a heart beat.

I actually hesitated posting my opinion on the matter with how some may react. But sense we're supposed to be able to post our opinions on the matters then there it is. Take it as you like, it is not an attack on anyone else's opinion.

Did you really need to pagestretch an entire extra page, though? gonk

Owning the first one, I can say that it's a shame because the game is awesome. You really shouldn't let one character's outfit ruin what is an excellent gaming experience. Other than the outfit, she's the Harley you know and love.

And so there is no mistake, this is not an attack on your position just a comment.

I'm so glad we can all agree that it is only I who am needlessly offensive for not digging the biker slut look. I will refrain from posting opinions for the remainder of time.

I don't think you're offensive. It's just your opinion. You have as much right to an opinion as anyone else here. I'd actually not paid attention to this thread for a few days, because I wouldn't have even guessed this debate was still ongoing. So what if not everyone is in butt love with it? What's the big deal? Not everyone has to like the same things.

Just for the record, I think it's rather whorey too, but I'm used to seeing game chicks all "sexed up" for sales.

People being offended by fictional works in those cases =/= Anyone ever offended by fictional works.

Lets use our big person brain to deduce that the term "being offended" is not synonymous with "judgmental overreacting" all the time every time for anything ever.

And ********; play it or don't, like the outfit for the character or not, wahwahwah tension because the word "whore" was used. Whore. Slut. Crackbitch. Sasha Grey. Can these words be hurtful when used against real people and fictional characters? Yes. Sure. Why wouldn't it? Are these words 'negative' based on society primarily driven by a male perspective? Yes. Sure. Why wouldn't it be? Should we be shocked the word whore has been applied to that costume/version of the character? Probably not. Can you be offended by the use of the word whore to describe that costume/version of the character? Of course; if you've got heavy investment, and concern for, in the overall projection of the character/female characters. Should we condemn others for pointing out the obviously "whoreish" outfit? Probably not, although primarily because I thought we were adults with the ability to comprehend meaning and depth of intent in regular conversation.

This argument is possibly the stupidest thing I've seen in guild in a long time. I'm bailing from this thread now. I really don't give two shits about Harley Quinn as a character. Lots of big posts here but it comes down to this.

Someone thinks the outfit is whorey and someone else gets butthurt over it and then calls the dogs out. Let's all visit the real world shall we? I'm going to go ahead and take part in what the guild's main purpose is, which is RPing and having fun. If you want to sit here and argue the points of a fictional character's showing of skin, that's all on you.

Wow...who thought agreeing with person would get me that? Natalia...show me where I said people being offended by fictional works in those cases equals anyone ever offended by fictional works please. I provided an example of people being offended by fiction. A rather glaring one.

And of course those people are offended by those books even if they were judgmental and overreacting. If they weren't offended on some level then they wouldn't level challenges at the books.

Welcome to the real world - where people talk about s**t like how the representation of fictional characters reflects current society standards. Or how big and bad the word "whore" is in context/out of context. Don't discuss, and don't take part, and think little of others who do, or look down on them, or try and make them feel lacking, inadequate, or like all around bad guild members because they are discussing things which you perceive to be dumb and not RPing it up all the time all the time ALL THE TIME.

And for the record, because I'm not quite sure why your post exists in the first place; My post was also an attempt to diffuse the situation albeit in a simplified, touch-on-all-major-issues way rather then shutting our eyes and humming sort of way.

The example you used seemed deliberately to focus on overacting judgmental offense rather then contemplative genuine offense as those people who are being offended are "Kooks" and "nuts". When you put that kind of "example" next to the discussion at hand, surely you can see how such a choice would seem like derision. And still does.

Oh yes...I can see how someone would see that if they looking for some hidden meaning where none exists. Don't try to read between the lines when there is nothing there and don't put hidden meanings behind my words when there were none. I used a very glaring example of people being offended by fiction for it's obviousness not because I was making a hidden commentary on the this discussion. If I wanted to insult people, I'd just come out and do it.
