What had happened? What had gone on in there? Crenu was in a shouting match with Riza, very unlike him, and the next thing he knew Poliwhirl was on the offensive against her. Had he really zoned out like that? He couldn't have been in his thoughts for more than a second or two right? At least, that's what it felt like, all the thoughts rushing through his head at once, it all seemed so fast, yet he had a huge struggle in his mind. And he still didn't know what any of it meant. He wanted to protect the people he had grown attached to, that's why he wanted power. But the world was plotting against him. And Riza was plotting against him. But no, she wasn't really plotting was she? Why did he think she was? And why did he think she wasn't? Surely he didn't come to that conclusion at random. That's right, he was brought over the edge by the way she was acting before their match started, that's what made him believe it all. Why would she do that? Hmm, but...maybe she was just nervous or something. Maybe he jumped the gun. He was hallucinating recently after all. Maybe he wasn't that stable..but he was well enough aware that he wasn't in top shape. An insane person wouldn't know they were insane, so logically he can't be insane. Something else must be at work here. Maybe he really was being conspired against? Either way right now he had other things to deal with. His deep mind in turmoil still he wasn't fully back, but he was able to think well enough to function close to normal, and as he walked back stage the first thing he had to do was get Poliwhirl healed, he really got hurt in that match. Thinking back on the match Crenu shook his head, such brutish unrefined tactics, how could he ever fight that way? Simply terrible, he'd never get strong that way.
As he reached the on site Nurse he handed her Poliwhirl's pokeball, and she looked at him very displeased, clearly having seen the match. "...Yeah. That was not my usual performance. I think Poliwhirl's pretty hurt. What's the damage?" He said calmly, not really interested in her opinion of him.
The nurse continued to eye the blond trainer highly annoyed, but took the pokeball and set it on her machine to be scanned none the less, after all she had a duty to uphold. The machine scanned the pokeball and Poliwhirl's outline appeared on a big screen above it, all sorts of data appearing in several boxes with lines connecting to different parts of his body, he was exhausted but relatively fine. All except for his right arm anyway. The muscles in it were pulled and strained, all those risky maneuvers and constant throwing of the fist took it's toll, but the worst part was his hand. As the glowing red box showed as it did a close up on the hand, the bones in it were broken just as she had feared. "Well, he's hurt bad. The machine isn't enough to get him back to normal, he's broken several bones in his hand and wrist. He's going to have to get a cast and take it easy for a bit."
"Broken hand?" Crenu said curiously as he watched the Nurse give the pokeball to a Chansey who took it to the back, presumably to treat him and fit him with said cast. He thought back to it, and he did indeed recall Akima using Brick Break on his fist. A brilliant move by Riza, she had control of the whole match and he just made it so easy for her. Like she planned? No, not like she planned. There was no plan. He just messed up. Cause someone else made him mess up? Crenu shook his head of everything as he looked around hearing some footsteps, and saw Riza coming up to the nurse's station. She was probably going to heal Akima as well. He wasn't sure what to do, he didn't know if he was ready to say anything yet. But it didn't really matter now since he couldn't just avoid her now. "Hmm, how long is a bit?" he said suddenly, deciding not to say anything to the raven haired girl just yet. The way he acted, she probably didn't want to talk to him right now.
"Hard to say. With medication and proper treatment Pokemon heal pretty fast, a lot faster than humans. That's why we're able to restore them so effectively with our machines, medical science in general has come a long way. But a broken bone, especially several small bones, still take some time to heal. Three weeks is my estimate. " She said, about to go into the back when she noticed the other trainer from the last round walking up to her.

Kilik skidded to a halt when the Magma Admin loomed over them. He put his hands behind his head and swayed a little bit. Nothing can ever be easy these days. Tabitha was certainly attempting to be intimidating. He was about to say something when Mitsu stepped forward and sent out her Gyarados. The boy let out a low whistle and put his hands on his hips, laughing a little. "I've never seen you so fired up for a battle before, Mittens!" He took a ball from his belt and looked over his shoulder at Cable. "Hey buddy, you could use a rest. Mind if I have someone else take care of this?"
Cable grinned and chuckled, giving his trainer a thumbs up. It was nice to take a break; Kilik was certainly giving him a work out. He tapped his Pokeball on Kilik's belt and disappeared inside in a red flash.
Kilik tossed the Great Ball up and down in his hand, smirking at Tabitha. Gyarados was certainly Mitsu's largest Pokemon. And it was terrifying at that. The trio of Pokemon before them, however, weren't too scary. He could battle Swellow, Magcargo, and Golbats all day. "Get ready to turn tail and run, Tabitha, because the nightmare is just beginning! C'mon out, Aggron!!" Kilik threw the ball into the air and caught it as it came back down after unleashing the beast.
In a flash of white light, Aggron slammed into the dirt, poised on all fours, roaring loudly. Saliva splattered out of his mouth and the ground seemed to shake beneath him. The behemoth got onto his hind legs and clenched his fists. A low rumble escaped his throat. As his eyes made contact with the Swellow, his claws began to glow blue, ready to unleash a Dragon Claw the moment Kilik gave him the cue.
The boy looked over at Sasha and Mitsu, putting his arms behind his head again. With Nightmare and Aggron, his only worry was if there'd even be a base to raid after the battle. "Your turn, Sasha. Let's show this guy what happens when you get in our way!" His trademark smirk appeared on his lips as he looked over at Tabitha, standing tall behind his beast of an Aggron.

As Giovanni tacked away at his computer, a few Rocket Admins appeared in his office. "Sir! Borders have been opened with the Unova region!" The Rocket Boss looked up from his screen and leaned back in his chair, placing one hand on his desk in a fist. In his other hand, he held his long forgotten pipe, placing it between his teeth and giving it a few puffs. The smell of chocolate smoke began to fill the room.
"A new region has opened it's borders? So soon?" Giovanni put his pipe into his hand and stood slowly. "I require information on the Pokemon available there, as well as if there is another organization to combat our own. We have made pacts with Team Magma and Aqua of Hoenn. No word on this...Team Galactic of Sinnoh. Give me your reports in twelve hours." The Admins saluted and left.
Giovanni approached the window that looked down to his lab. He puffed his pipe a little more and sighed. Things were becoming so complicated. The MM2 project had been put on hold almost indefinitely. However, translation of the two relics they had acquired was coming along smoothly. And he still had Shocker, who at this point, had finally been broken. Giovanni remembered the moment very clearly.
"If you ever want to see that girl again, you will do as we tell you." the man said plainly, "She will no doubt come to save you, and bring many of her friends in the process. It's a beautiful thing, really. You are the perfect bait."
Shocker stood in her battery and clenched her fists, gritting her teeth at Giovanni. Sparks came from her cheeks. "Ah, ah," Giovanni shook his finger. "Temper. With a flip of a switch, I can make you suffer a pain the likes of which you've never felt, little rat. You are a wonderful source of energy. I'd hate to have to..." he waved his hand carelessly, "toss you out."
Shocker's eyes began to water, but she couldn't show weakness. The Raichu sat down quietly, the only thing keeping her spirits up was the thought Kasiya would be coming for her. But when? Every day got worse and worse...she couldn't lose hope. Until that day, she would have to bend to this monster's will.
"With that near limitless source of energy from such a powerful Raichu," he said, pulling his pipe from his mouth, "I can at least power my machines. I think it's time to have a little fun." He turned on the loudspeaker that went through the entire base. "Willis," he said clearly, "start up the helicopter. I want to go for a ride." He shut off the speaker and put his pipe back into his mouth, smiling grimly as he left his office.

Kadaj yipped and struggled a bit as he was picked up by this strange woman. He quickly calmed down when he realized he wasn't in harm's way. Kimiko dropped what she was doing and ran over to the showers. "Oh man, this is so awkward!" She nocked on the shower door, "e-excuse me, um, you kinda have my pokemon." Kadaj struggled a little and yipped, most likely an apology.

Penny's eyes narrowed when she heard Katie's command, not having expected the Staravia to have access to a move like that. Enhanced speed or not, Graveler was still coming out of his spin as the Staravia closed in on him and all he could do was flail about wildly as the steel-hard wings made crushing blows to his rocky hide. Pain radiated in a stinging, tingling sensation down through his whole body and along his four arms but he toughed it out, pounding his fists together and grunting loudly. Penny smiled, and pointed up at the bird. "Give her a taste of your Smack Down!" she called, a lot more confident than she had been with her Glameow on the field. Smack Down was a move she'd only recently learned her Graveler had access to, and she watched with mild satisfaction as the Rock/Ground-type picked up a good-sized stone and hurled it at the Staravia.
Mai, meanwhile, had only a few seconds to stare at the strange, dark-coloured bird that had replaced the Drifblim before it had launched itself at Siren. The Misdreavus' eyes were wide as saucers as the Dark-type attack tore into her, and she was sure she would have been disemboweled on the spot had she proper organs like regular, corporeal creatures. She started to float to the ground, the world around her going black before Mai recalled her into her Pokeball. The Rocket eyed the bird with indignation and raised her slender fingers to her lips, giving a shrill whistle. Nearby, the cleverly disguised rock that had actually been a sleeping Aerodactyl rose up, a deep growl already rising up in his throat. Mai pointed at the Honchkrow, her eyes cold, and piercing. "Thunder Fang," she said simply, and in a single flap of his leathery wings, Giggles was off, talons outstretched to snare his prey, his fangs already crackling and glowing with powerful electrical energy.

Robin probably didn't notice that little Eevee in her arms was struggling, she didn't notice most things anyway. She did however hear the knock on her shower stall. Looking away from the Eevee she blinked at the door confused for a second. How often did you get a knock on the door when you were taking a shower? When she heard the voice explain why they were knocking on the door she brightened up. Turning towards the Eevee again she gave it a blinding smile, "Looks like we found your trainer! That wasn't to hard." Not really caring she was in the nude Robin opened the shower door. In front of her was another redhead, Robin didn't notice it was died, in a pretty cool dress.
"Sorry about that! Your little guy just scampered in here." Robin grinned as she motioned to the now wet Eevee. "He is kinda a little wet now to." She wasn't to sure what to do now that she had handed back the pokemon, she didn't get interrupted in her showers all that much. "I am gunna get back to my shower. If you want I will be having breakfast, or maybe lunch, not sure what time it is, with my team when I finish up. Meet me down in the cafeteria?" The last part was asked a bit like a question. It was probably really awkward since most people did not get asked to spend time with someone else while the other was in the buff. With that said she gave the other a smile, and waved at the little Eevee one last time, before shutting the shower stall and got down with the fun job of washing her hair.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Deciding that he did not really want to be part of the cleaning process, he loved Apollo but he really had no idea how to take care of him the way this girl wanted him to. Yawning he sat himself down on one of the benches and watched as she started to fawn over the Rapidash. She seemed to have all sorts of brushes and cleaning implements. He watched as she carefully got one wet and started to brush him down. She probably would have hosed him down or something if the flames on Apollo's back wouldn't go out from it. Instead he watched as she and Apollo were practically engulfed in a steam bath.
The steam bath done she set to some how trimming some of the more wild flames on the Rapidash's mane and tail. It seemed that it had grown out a bit and was sparking a bit more. Dante still wasn't sure how you could cut flames like she was doing but it seemed to work. When she was done with that Apollo's flames looked even more dazzling then before. She spent the rest of the time meticulously brushing the Rapidash down and cleaning his hooves out. During this whole thing Apollo seemed to relax a bunch more, the unicorn looked to be happier then he had been in a long time. Maybe this girl had a point. He didn't have to go into this much detail but his pokemon did not have to look shabby either. In his mind he heard various complaints on how much they wanted this done to them. Dante told them to shut the hell up.
While the wash on Apollo happened he got his clothes out of the dryer and changed back into them. By the time they were done they found Dante in his clean clothes sitting on a bench and smoking.
"That is bad for you, you know right?" The girl asked but did not seemed to bugged by it.
Dante just shrugged and looked Apollo over. "A lot of things are bad for you." Was all he muttered. "You look good Apollo." Dante said after a moment. If anything Dante was severely under crediting his pokemon. The Rapidash looked magnificent, a truly stunning pokemon in its own right, the strange coloring on him just made it stand out even more. It seemed to cement the fact in that the Rapidash was one of a kind. Still Apollo wasn't used to hearing such things from his trainer and the unicorn pokemon preened happily under the praise.
Kimiko jerked back in surprise as the girl nonchalantly exited the shower stark naked to hand her pokemon back. "heh, I guess he got confused since we both have bright red hair." She quickly grabbed a towel and held Kadaj in it, "oh man, you're soaked!" she teased him. She was surprised to see the girl hadn't gone back into the shower but, instead invited her to breakfast. Kimiko had never received an invitation from someone in the nude! As strange as it was, she knew no one outside of her small town, it was a chance to make friends. "Um sure! I'll just have to dry off Kadaj first." She walked back over to her makeshift cosmetic counter and pulled out her hair dryer and brush. "Ok little guy, time to make you KAWAII!!" Kadaj's eyes filled with fear.
As Riza approached the nurse's station of the contest hall, her blood ran cold and she shivered upon seeing Crenu standing there, more than likely getting treatment for Poliwhirl. Her pace slowed considerably but she forced herself onward, her eyes downcast as she placed Akima's poke ball on the counter. "Could you please heal my Sneasel?" she asked, her voice quiet. The nurse said nothing but nodded, taking the sphere and heading into the back room and leaving her there, alone, with Crenu.
She still felt sort of cold, and for a moment she almost felt as though the iciness was radiating from Shiro himself but she forced the thought from her mind, as it seemed silly and ridiculous. She finally shoved back her nervousness, and she looked up at Shiro, her eyes more than likely betraying her fear of him. "How's Poliwhirl?" she asked, her tone genuinely concerned. "I...I didn't mean for him to get hurt like that. I'm so sorry," she said, inclining her head and causing her raven hair to tumble down around her face. * * * * * 'Smack Down?' Katie thought, having never heard of that move before. It didn't sound like it would be much fun for Noa, and that thought would prove to be right as the Graveler proceeded to send a well-aimed stone hurtling towards the Staravia. Katie's ruby eyes went wide as the stone smashed into the Starling Pokemon, and Noa uttered a pained, somewhat strangled cry as she suddenly lost altitude and crashed to the ground, her legs and wings twitching slightly. The attack had hit hard, and that combined with her crash landing had left Noa unconscious and clearly unable to battle. Katie's hands trembled as she recalled Noa into her poke ball. 'Well, fine,' she thought, looking over as Mai's Misdreavus had been taken out as well, 'if they wanna play like that, we can play rough too.' She held up a poke ball, smiling devilishly before she tossed it, revealing her lovely Roselia, Seraphim. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Mai's Aerodactyl rise from where he'd been napping and she continued to smirk, knowing that this wasn't going to end well for either of the siblings.
Kord and Nell were still sitting quietly beside Serenity, watching the battle, the Buneary being oddly well behaved. Katie made a note to reward the Buneary's good behavior later as she pointed at the Graveler. "Seraphim, hit him hard with a Magical Leaf," she commanded, her voice calm, and authoritative. The Roselia gave a petite bow before she twirled around, sending out a flurry of glowing leaves that sped towards the rocky Pokemon.
Adam's expression was one of sheer terror when he saw what he'd previously thought to be a large, lumpy rock start to move, unfurling large, powerful wings and growling dangerously. "H-Honchkrow... Sh-shadow B-ball," he managed to squeak out, his calm, confident demeanor now shattered. The Big Boss Pokemon flapped its wings, a dark orb of energy forming at his crest. It quickly grew in size and he did his best to fire the inky sphere at the Aerodactyl as it zeroed in on him, but his aim was off due to the enemy's speed and he missed by at least two feet. The dark flying-type gave a terrified caw as the Aerodactyl's electrified jaws clamped down on him, sending a jolt through his whole body. He managed to wriggle free and he hobbled away, squawking in both pain and indignation.
Mai's smirk had only increased in size as she watched Giggles in action. While she truly did despise his name, she couldn't deny that he was a valuable asset to her team, especially since her only other Pokemon capable of using Fly had been stolen, amusingly enough, by her bratty little half-sister. It was more of an inconvenience than anything else, as Mai was aware of the fact that her Flygon was very fond of Kasiya and would likely obey her every command without so much as a second thought, though then again, Sirrus rarely gave anything a second thought. Despite her mind running rampant with thoughts, Mai was still focused enough on the Honchkrow to see that it hadn't been taken down yet, and she brushed some of the pale blonde hair from her face, and gave a nod. "Giga Impact," she said, snapping her fingers.
The Aerodactyl seemed to be annoyed that his prey was still moving - and able to hobble away from him - and he let out an ear-splitting screech before he took to the sky, a bright energy engulfing his entire body as he arched up, pivoted in the air and began to descend towards the Dark/Flying-type.
Penny had let out a cheer when her Graveler's attack was not only a successful it, but also a knock out, though it was short lived as she saw the annoying orange-haired girl replace her fainted Staravia with a Roselia. "Not a Grass-type," she whined, seemingly the only person on the battlefield to have not noticed the Aerodactyl joining the fight. The flowery Pokemon had unleashed a Magical Leaf, but Penny smiled. "Oh, I don't think so," she said, waggling a finger. "Graveler, use Protect!" The Rock Pokemon didn't have to be told twice and he didn't hesitate to hold out all four of his hands, causing a shimmery, glowing barrier to surround him just as the otherwise-unavoidable Magical Leaves would have slammed into him, and probably caused him a lot of pain in the process. "You'll have to try harder than that," Penny said, clapping her hands despite the tremendous disadvantage she was at.
Amy remained quiet for a long moment, no longer struck by the mass amounts of people and the mindless buzz that rose from the city of a thousand different conversations going on at once. She cradled Tyrogue's Pokeball carefully in her hands, lips downcast in a slight frown.
"Maybe," she agreed softly, grip on the sphere tightening a little bit at the thought of having to return him. She had gotten her hopes up just for this little Pokemon, and now she would have to voluntarily return him to some place he probably just ran away from. Didn't that mean he didn't like it there? She returned the Pokeball to her belt and fanned herself slightly. It was hot in this crowded city, especially since it was the middle of summer, and that dress wasn't going to help her much. The more and more she thought about it, the more impractical it seemed. Maybe she would buy some more clothes in Celadon, if they both agreed to go there next.
"I'm glad you caught your Vulpix, though," Amy said, forcing her tone to be a bit brighter than she felt. She offered Karrigan a smile and finally, the two found the Pokecenter and entered, rescued from the noise and heat of the city by the quiet, air-conditioned building. "You should go heal your team first; she seemed to do quite a number on them."
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
"Annoyed hardly covers it," Jade grumbled, running a hand through her black hair. She raised a brow and looked Jake up and down, interest piqued by the mention of a gym. "So you have a badge then...?" And there was another interesting tidbit: Oreburgh specialized in Rock-types. She might as well just turn in her losses right there. Maybe she'd get back to that one when she had a more diverse team.
"Nice to meet you, too." Jade took his hand and shook it firmly, the faintest hints of a smile showing on her face. "Sorry, I'm usually a bit more friendly, but that guy really ticked me off. I'll calm down after a few more minutes." The nurse returned with her lone Pokeball and Jade collected it gratefully, thanking her. She still lingered, unconsciously waiting for Jake's Pokemon to be healed before she continued on to... well, she wasn't even sure anymore.
As Riza slowly approached, Crenu's heart started to race, and as it beat heatedly against his chest everything seemed to slow down. Was she going to yell at him some more, was she going to say nothing? What was he going to say, should he say anything at all? Maybe he should just leave. Maybe he should pretend she's not around. And at the same time as he pondered this, he was also thinking about Poliwhirl. Broken hand? Few weeks of rest? That made him practically useless. Though it wasn't Poliwhirl's fault it looked like he'd have to send him away for a bit after all. And then it dawned on Crenu, he didn't have anywhere to send his pokemon. He only had six, he never thought about it before other than as a threat to Poliwhirl. But He couldn't just let Poliwhirl sit in a storage box for weeks, he'd get even weaker, and it wasn't exactly humane. Still Keeping him around and training with him would just drag Crenu down, he couldn't afford to be hindered either, not when he was already so feeble. This posed a serious dilemma, one Crenu was going to have to deal with soon. It wasn't anything personal, but after an injury like that Poliwhirl was just dead weight until he healed. As he pondered his new found problem, Riza had gotten up to the counter and had given her Sneasel to the nurse, and was now standing there so close to him, looking at him with eyes that looked a tad afraid. Her fear of him wasn't unwarranted considering what had just happened, but knowing that he made her feel like that hurt, it was the opposite of protecting those he held close. "His hand is broken, but he's alright for the most part." he finally said lightly as he looked at her. He tried to look her in the eyes, but it was difficult. "It's not your fault, it's mine. I wasn't fighting as myself, Polwirhil's performance and injury is my doing and mine alone. You...you did well. At the end...Poliwhirl did that on his own. I'd never have him attack you."
Riza winced upon hearing the news that Poliwhirl's hand had been broken, and she shifted uncomfortably on her feet, unable to quell the guilt that had welled up in her chest, even with Crenu's reassurance that it wasn't her fault. She kept her head down, now closing her eyes as she listened to the blonde speak. He didn't have to tell her that he wasn't in his right mind during the match, but it did make her feel slightly better to hear him admit it. "I-I know," she said, looking up at him. "I know you wouldn't do something like that. Poliwhirl was probably just frustrated with everything, I definitely understand him in that regard. I just hope he realizes he has to take it easy and let himself heal, though I don't think that will be easy for him."
She glanced over at the nurse as she returned Akima's poke ball, and she uttered a small thank you, clutching the red and white sphere to her chest. "I guess the last round is starting soon. A-are you going to watch it?" she asked nervously. "I mean, I understand if you don't want to, but it'd mean a lot to me if you stuck around." She finally found the courage to smile at him, wondering now if it had just been the stress of their contest round against each other that had gotten to him, or the hype of the contest in general. Contests were still somewhat new of a concept for him, though she was quite impressed with how far he'd made it in his very first try. * * * * * Katie had been sure that Seraphim's Magical Leaf would completely cut that Graveler down to size, at least until she heard that word that pretty much every opposing trainer hates to hear given as a command: Protect. The rainbow leaves crashed up against the green barrier harmlessly before phasing out, and Katie sighed, throwing her head back in annoyance. "Aaarrgh! Okay, fine! Seraphim, give 'em your Shadow Ball! Let's see how they like that one!"
The Roselia continued to beam her winning smile across the battlefield, doing a very good job of not showing how much the nearby battling Aerodactyl and Honchkrow were unnerving her. Her roses were lifted high and she pointed the blue one at the Graveler, a dark orb forming. She pushed the rose forward and the dark sphere was launched at the Graveler, quickly growing larger and gaining power and speed as it flew towards the rocky Pokemon.
Adam's eyes were wide when he heard the blonde woman call for Giga Impact, and he shook his head, panic rising in his chest. He fumbled for a command, finally coming up with the first one that came to his mind. "Fly!" he shouted. "Fly away!" Honchkrow could feel the ground trembling from the raw power being exhibited by the Aerodactyl and he didn't hesitate for a second to flap his wings and bring himself up off the ground and into the sky, looking back in time to see the ancient Pokemon slam the ground where he'd just been standing. The upside was that it would take time to recover from that move, and Adam grit his teeth. "Use Night Shade!" he hollered. Honchkrow's body began to glow with a ghostly aura, and it stretched downward like a violet claw to attempt to engulf the Aerodactyl in its grasp.
Karrigan had been expecting the noise of the city to give her an almost-instant headache now that they had reentered Saffron, but that thought had quickly gone out of her mind as she was far more preoccupied with the new addition to her team. Her heart was still pounding from both the thrill of the capture itself, and due to the fact that she had acquired such a strong and spirited little Pokemon. Her attitude seemed to be a bit off-putting, but Karrigan didn't think that it would last (unless she spent a lot of time with the generally-dour Ikouma). The redhead still couldn't believe the Vulpix had taken out three-quarters of her party, and even though Aegeus hadn't been fully KO'd, he'd been incapacitated enough so that it was practically impossible for him to battle. Her thoughts had shifted to giving the fox Pokemon a name, though admittedly she was quite clueless on that matter and she sighed with relief as they entered the Pokemon Center.
"Thank you, Amy," she said, both in response to the brunette's kind gesture of allowing her to heal her Pokemon first, and for the comment about the capture. "I hope everything works out with Tyrogue, too," she added hopefully as she placed all five spheres into a tray, and then handed it to the nurse. "My Pokemon need healing, please," she said politely.
"Of course, that's what we're here for," the cheerful, pink-haired nurse replied as she accepted it, and turned to place the injured Pokemon in the treatment machine. The process didn't take very long, and Karrigan's Pokemon were returned quite promptly. The redhead gave her thanks and went about reattaching her Pokeballs to her belt while Amy took her turn to heal her Pokemon.
=-=-=-=-= Jake smiled at Jade's apology, distantly reminded of someone with a similar attitude, though of course, he couldn't place it. "It's fine," he said, accepting his own two Pokeballs as their treatment had been relatively quick, and he placed the spheres back onto his belt, hoping that Grotle wasn't feeling too bad over their loss to the old woman and her Umbreon. He'd accumulated a somewhat decent amount of money thanks to his win over Roark yesterday, and he wondered idly if perhaps he should buy a TM or two for his hardworking party.
The situation turned a little awkward then, and Jake shifted on his feet after moving away from the front desk so that other trainers could seek treatment for their own Pokemon. "So..." he started, scratching the back of his head somewhat nervously. "What brings you here, to uh, Jubilife?" he asked finally, scolding himself for sounding like such a moron. "I also wanted to mention that your Vulpix's Fire Spin was pretty impressive."
=-=-=-=-= Penny had been certain that the orange-haired girl would have her Roselia spam her Magical Leaf over and over again until it hit, which would have sucked seeing as there was a good chance Protect would fail if used in succession. Naturally, she was happy to hear the call for a Shadow Ball, and probably would have found a clever way to have her Pokemon block or dodge it had she not preoccupied herself by questioning how a Grass-type could learn a Ghost-type move. The Shadow Ball sped through the air and crashed into her Graveler's surprised face, causing him to stumble back a bit. His pained cry snapped the blonde girl back to attention and she pointed at the Roselia, frowning. "Give 'em your Rock Blast!" she shouted, and without hesitation the Rock-type complied, digging his hands into the ground and proceeding to hurl several good-sized rocks at Seraphim.
To be perfectly honest, Mai wouldn't have hesitated to walk over to Adam, smack him upside the head, and then take away his Pokemon had he stood there like a dummy and let his Honchkrow get creamed by the Aerodactyl's Giga Impact. It was slightly painful for Giggles to smash into the ground; the sheer force of it left a good-sized crater in his wake and his body crackled with energy, though his chest heaved from the effort. It was true that he could not act just yet, and he screeched painfully from the ghostly energy that wracked his body. Hang in there, Giggles, you've totally got this, Mai thought, her cool, confident expression never wavering for even a second.
"Well, that was a little disappointing," Keegan mumbled as the last of the grunts retreated, their pride just as wounded as their Pokemon. A rather smug Themis had trotted back over to his side, having dispatched of all those wretched winged creatures in record time. It had helped having the redheaded lady's super strong fire-spewers to take down some of the other enemy Pokemon, though the prideful Manectric would never admit that. "Thanks, buddy, you were great," the redhead said, patting the Manectric on he head with his knife-free hand before recalling the Electric-type, and looking down at the few grunts that remained unconscious on the floor. Save for the superficial scratch he'd received on his arm, and Mike's, well, knife in the arm, they'd been fairly lucky so far in terms of injuries on their side.
The redhead glanced back at Flannery just to make sure she hadn't been harmed, and he sighed, closing his eyes. Kilik, Sasha, Mitsu, Winona... Kasiya. You five better be all right, especially you, Kassie. He sighed, hoping his worries were as unwarranted as he wanted them to be, and he carefully slid the knife between his belt and his jeans as a makeshift sheath. "We'd better keep moving," he said, nodding to his two companions. "There's probably more of them on the way, and it's starting to get a little... crowded in here."
((Arg. That's short, but uh. Yeah. That's all I got.))
"I do, too," Amy murmured to herself as Karrigan handed over her team to the cheerful nurse. She retrieved her Pokedex and began to look at the information on Tyrogue, specifically the different evolutions it could have. All of them seemed quite nice, she supposed. She hadn't given Fighting-types much thought before, since they weren't all that popular in contests, but now she could see how they would be of great benefit. Well, Tyrogue and his evolutions would be, anyways. The hard-hitting Hitmonchan, the agile Hitmonlee, and the dexterous Hitmontop would all make for interesting battles.
And with that spunky, determined attitude her Tyrogue (well, he was hers for the moment, at least) had, he would be a really great addition. Even if she gave up, he wouldn't. Maybe he would get tired of her. She hoped not. Right now, she just hoped that she wouldn't have to return him.
"I think we definitely need to go to the Fighting Dojo," Amy said quietly before handing over her three Pokeballs to the helpful nurse. "Thank you." She turned back to Karrigan, sighing a little. It was obvious that she didn't want to linger on that subject. "After that... where do you want to go?"
Jade glanced at Jake as he handed two Pokeballs over. She couldn't help but wonder what other Pokemon the boy had, or how strong they were. It was hard to make some estimation based on the battle she had seen out there. She wouldn't even call it a battle. More like a disgrace. That guy didn't know the first thing about battling, but he was still a hassle. And she still had to be saved.
"It was the closest city to Canalave," Jade remarked quietly, moving along with the blonde. After a moment, she continued on. "I just sort of got on a ship and ended up here. Figured I'd take the gym challenge, meet some people, catch some Pokemon. It's what most kids are doing these days, right?" Her gaze dropped to the ground for an instant, wondering if she could even call herself a kid anymore. She was 17. She was a late starter. She shouldn't be starting at all. Just stuck in that stupid house with those stupid girls, forced to a boring life of nothing but one Pokemon companion and dozens of trainers wanting to knock her down.
"Thank you," the black-haired girl murmured, smiling faintly at the Pokeball she held in her hand. "She's a feisty one, all right. It's good to have her around. Your Pokemon, the beaver-like one, showed a good fight. It's a shame that the trainer was hardly a decent match." She tucked a lock of hair behind her ear and turned back to Jake, figuring it was time to ask the questions. "What brings you to Jubilife?"
"No, it won't be. But Poliwhirl will have to learn. Being in a cast should paint a pretty clear picture." Crenu wasn't even a little convinced that Poliwhirl would actually take it easy regardless, but that didn't matter now. Riza seemed uneasy, then again who wouldn't be after something like that? Crenu just remained silent and calm as the voices in his head cursed Riza, though it was slowly growing quieter and disappearing deeper into his mind, but it never fully vanished. Still for now it seemed Crenu's senses had returned for the most part. But what about Riza? What did she think about him now? Did she still trust him like before? Care about him like she said she had in the match? Did she ever trust him to begin with though? There was just too much involved, to many factors to work out, there wasn't any logic anymore. Crenu shook his head and watched as Riza got her pokeball back, seeing her smile which allowed him to look her in the eyes once more. But he felt uncomfortable doing so, he was sure she could see his turmoil swirling around deep inside him, and his eyes might have shown what was a tint of sadness in them, but seeing her smile tugged something in his chest, and warmed him a bit.
"...Yeah, of course. I'll be right here when you win." He said calmly as he looked at her through a silver mask, forgetting how ridiculousness he looked right now. At first Crenu just looked at her, but finally he made a bit of an awkward movement as he leaned forward, looking as though he was about to take it back and do nothing. But he didn't stop and took a step closer to Riza, stepping into her as his arms wrapped around the raven haired girl. He was still unable to smile, but a close enough look could tell you that the corners of his mouth were trying. He still wasn't one hundred percent certain that he could trust this person he had fallen for, but deep down he really wanted to. "Don't give them any breathing room. The constant offensive didn't work for me and Poliwhirl, but it's not a bad strategy if sprinkled in with the right timing. Your synchronization with Akima should be able to pull off an explosive offensive right out of a graceful maneuver like a dodge or a set up, you're very good." ((Jason Carlos posts coming soon, promise))
