Shaking sand off his person, he glanced around and shrugged. "You listen in the right places and find out about all sorts of things." Glancing at the walls, he watched the torches surrounding the passageways spring to life through some magic or another and pulled one off. "We see where it goes. Be alert though. Big things like to live in caves."

A laugh sounded. "Specificity is usually a wiser course, Captain. Especially since my companion becomes rather cranky when called." The air above a row of barrels shimmered and Rahsaveer appeared, stretched out rather nonchalantly. Gesturing boredly, he quirked an eyebrow. "You requested and I have come. Yes, O Bellower?"

"None of them are for you." He was watching her closely, monitoring where she was attempting to get and what she was trying to do. Obviously that whole idea of her just sitting with him wasn't agreeable to her. He held her hands to keep her steady, dropping them on his shoulders and then lightly bracing her hips for the barest of seconds. "A focus for what?" Nope, he still didn't get it.

They were called emotions for a reason. Untouchable, unprovable, unexplainable. And in trying to do so, only made him more confused about his own and how they dictated the things he thought he was supposed to be doing. If he wasn't grieving, then what was he doing and was it just entirely pointless? "Sorrow." Repeating her words for a moment as he watched her. To him, it was like another empty "feeling" word he couldn't necessarily associate with anything tangible. But she seemed to understand it. "So are you grieving for Karinn... or simply feeling sorrow?"

Richards gave a nod.

"You know, if there is something big in here...odds are we don't have the equipment to kill it."

but following behind.

"I have a question for you. you know anyone in your family line that's ever bartered with Jones? you seem to know a bit about it even more so then legends usually tell."

Hunter looked up.

"I have a simple request, you should be able to use your skills for it. Can you at the very least locate Richard's for me? it's been too long without word from either him or the one he went out to see."

Fang nodded lightly.

"I see. but no, not digging for your help in that. the sands will probably get them anyhow. nothing underground save your lair probably stay uninhabited long. and what do you mean Richard's is next to nothing now."

He knew about Desdemona...but didn't consider her much of anything. after all, what fool would make someone that had betrayed them anything of importance on a ship again.

"Good." No really she hated surprises...and surprises around her often got someone maimed or killed at the worst. Surprising a blind necromancer was not the way to start any day. She had taken to pacing, though her steps were calculated as if she was coutning them out in her head and her boots always fell in the same place, no matter which way she turned about. "So I stop listening to it. I just have to...find something else to listen to and focus one." Selective hearing, most would call it...and it was usually done in ignorance, but frankly she learned to tune out what was important and what wasn't...but water and rain still scrambled her rational thinking.

The cold logic in his repeatition of the word told her so much. She watched him as he watched her as if expecting her to expand on it, and that in turn made her fidget under his gaze. "Grieving isn't supposed to go on forever...I grieved for her in a way when I was still a hatchling. And I'm grieving for her now in a different way...if I had anything close to my own mother, it would be her. Well...as far as humans go." Shaking her head lightly. "But that will fade in time as well too. Time heals all wounds, and creates new ones too...that's just how life goes Kaznec. And time stands still for no one." Well...that was at least logical.

"Yes you're right. I'm not the only thing that dwells in those caves that you have to worry about. Personally I think the little things are scarier...at least when it comes to cavern life." Chuckling lightly at that one but following with perhaps an arrogant shrug at Richards. "As you said you're not digging for my help either with Richards or the ways of some others you are over estimating...and I simply like to watch the fireworks of such things I suppose." Shaking his head, "Are you going to follow them till the ends of the earth should they slip past you now?" After all...he knew where they were likely to be headed if they were hunting for shards still.

Thobias studied him for the space of a few seconds. "Does that bother you?" Obviously he was the one leading the way so he began walking down the narrow passageways that crisscrossed and circled like a labyrinth. After passing the fourth pile of bones, he chuckled. "I would say that there is definitely something big that lives down here. Just pray we don't run into it." But Richards question got his attention for a moment and he shook his head, tone hardening. "I don't have any family."

Rahsaveer raised an eyebrow at the 'simple request' that could truly be taken as an insult. And because it could, he decided to be disagreeable. "I can indeed. But that's not truly the question you should be asking, is it, Captain?"

Wait...he still didn't understand. Somehow her walking and muttering--he could see her mentally doing so--was helping her learn her surroundings? Okay, perhaps that made some sense seeing as she could hardly look around and figure out where everything was. "Such as? There's no one coming down the stairs, someone up there just dropped a coin, and I'm guessing that one of the men is swabbing the deck. Even in the rain..." That was strange.

"Yes but I already know the answer to the question I really want to have answered. it's a 'no, the goddess won't let you interfere' as it usually seems to be when things become overly serious. however, since I need to know what is going on, that means I need to know about richards. I know what he went to do, and I know what he told him because I told him to say it. I need something to get Teach out on the sands in the next few days."

crossing his arms lightly.

"Or are you being like the other one and hinting that there's something I should be asking or looking into that hasn't crossed my mind?"

Richard knew that tone. that was the 'even if I did I don't care to recall them' tone. the I don't want to know about them tone.

"doesn't bother me. just curious as to how you know. I mean you obviously aren't foolish enough to make a deal to get out of, so you had to learn from someplace."

"My territory ends not far from here. I can follow them a little past that, but then I'd be venturing into the sands claimed by others who are constantly itching for a reason to try and bring me down. But I have other means of getting to them if I have to. richards isn't the first to barter a ship under my colors."

watching the dragon.

"Why do you ask?"

"I don't know that Kelligrin! I can't pick what is what!" Turning to yell in his direction, though at the same moment taking a single step backward...which happened to prove to be a bad thing because there was an uneven board there and her boot heel slipped under the sudden uneven surface, making her fall backwards and into a few other things and the like of which she didnt' know what they were. She sat there for a moment and gave a groan...oh that hurt. Those shouldn't be there...someone probably moved them. Damn pirates.

"Because their travel is predictable if you know what you're looking for. I was just merely curious as to how deep your wants and desires ran or how ingenious you are." Cracking his neck with a pleasant sigh afterwards. "Humans amuse me, what else can I say?"

"Legends are plentiful when sailors have had too much to drink. I was raised on a ship and I've seen many a burning one disappear beneath the sands with help from other forces. It's natural for a seaman to know about Jones and how he deals. I'd just prefer to not have any personal dealings with him myself."

"Always assuming, aren't you, Captain?" Shaking his head and then sitting up for a moment and stretching. He may be little but he could get crinks too. "What precisely are you after with this little deal of yours, Hunter? Why don't you tell me who this Teach is and then I can see about telling you what I do in fact know about Richards, Robbins and even Fang."

And things just went very bad, didn't they? He blinked as she yelled at him and even his lightning fast reflexes couldn't save her from tumbling back over the trunk that he had set there. Jumping up, he pulled her to her feet and plopped her back in the hammock, crossing his arms and standing in front of her. "Are you alright?" Shaking his head and pushing the trunk out of the way and anything else that happened to not be against the walls.

He was fidgeting too, albeit on the inside under purely habitual self-control. It seemed the deeper he tried to delve, the more lost he became. The subconscious voice that sometimes awoke to tell him to stop asking questions was stirring again. "She took care of you and made sacrifices for you too. It would be wrong for you to forget her." Nodding as he agreed to her words in his own way. And yet, so easy to say and so difficult to do, or prove that it was done for that matter. Then again, it seemed to him that he didn't actually mind the grieving as long as he didn't forget. "There's never enough time."
PostPosted: Tue Jun 03, 2008 9:32 pm

Fingers searched for a moment to the tune of an upset falcon nearby, looking to set down some place so she could push herself up. But he helped her up before she could find such things and redeposited her someplace else. Too her a moment to recognize the flimsy shape that was the hammock and thus she still her motions so as not to flip herself over. Instead her hands reached around to feel over the sore spot in her back...she'd hit the corner of something or other. "I'm fine..." She hated it when they moved things, and ears twitched at the sound of him shifting things. "Don't move things around." Now she was going to have to guess that pile again.

"I didn't say I'd ever forget her. If I intended that I would have forgotten her long before now." She couldn't stand looking at him anymore as he kept looking at her like that. Tail curling around herself where she sat before him she turned her eyes from his, trying to find something to stare at rather than disappoint him. "There more than enough time for those that know how to use it." It didn't help that she felt so tuned into how he was feeling and would like nothing more than to agree and comfort him with what he wanted to believe...but she knew she couldn't. Enabling some things just wasn't healthy.

"Assumptions based on previous actions. the last two times I've asked for specific help in dealing with things, namely fang, and been told that it wasn't allowed by your counterpart. so why would I think this is any different?"

he smirked at the little one.

"I thought you tow knew everything going on. it's very simple. I traded service for the chimera. that payment is due, but I never had any intention of paying it. this new bargain struck is to turn teach over in my place. Teach is an old pirate. no one knows quite how old. he made a bargain with Jones, and escaped it, in a manner. he's stuck on the atolls. Jones can't set foot outside the sands one day per I think it's ten or fifteen years. so he stays on an atoll, waits for Jones to make port, and then he'll leave to someplace else. but as long as he's of the sands, he's safe."

glancing at the little one.

"He also happens to be related to Gem's first mate. blood or some age old marriage I don't know. but he and I have talked many times over the years, and I know he'd help get Thobias out of trouble. So the plan was get Thobias caught on the Serpent, Teach comes to teh rescue and I turn him over to Jones to settle my debt."

Richard's shrugged lightly.

"Fair enough. We all heard legends, and what those bargains mean. I just never met anyone before that actually knew about it from what seemed like first had experience before. guess I never met one that saw the Prince deal or not."

"There after what you're after. or what your guarding. and if I had command over more of the sands, I would hunt that woman down. her very presence is an insult. A woman's place is not on the sands, much less captaining a ship. Just like I imagine you would consider a dragon female's place to be on the sand, and not in the city. I pay attention, your 'nephew' speaks of a sister that's not around anymore. and since his father is Lycear, I'm guessing the city got the best of her."
PostPosted: Tue Jun 03, 2008 10:29 pm

Thobias wasn't stupid and he could tell Richards was digging. For what, he knew as well. Everyone knew the rumors about Thornton. Yes, that was his grandfather's name. Thornton, more commonly known as Thorn. He'd heard that now some even knew him as Teach but that mattered little to him. He didn't bear the b*****d's name and there was nothing to tie them to each other. "If you want that sort of experience, ask my grandfather."

"Assumptions nonetheless. Keep in mind, dear Captain, that situations change things. Assuming is what upsets Eilynne so much, just to let you know." He was rather amused at the story and even more amused that Hunter actually believed the Laerethe concerned themselves with the piddly details of their existence. There were bigger things to worry about.

This mention of a debt being weaseled out of it did not sit well with him. His Goddess was one of justice and she wouldn't think kindly on aiding such a thing. "Truth and fair speech, pirate. You kept your end of the bargain and I'll keep mine. Thobias pulled a fast one that Fang nor Richards was expecting. Both are wandering about in one of the many caverns under the sandsea. I expect they'll show up on the atoll somewhere." Crossing his arms. "I guess that means you need a Plan B."

"I'm moving them out of your way, all against the wall. You tripped over a trunk, Savryn. Do you really want to do that again?" Shaking his head and kicking things back into a corner so that the space all around her was cleared and nothing in her way. She was going to give him a headache and he didn't know how to deal with that.

She'd prefer if he didn't move them at all...she used those walls and that sucked. Now there was junk all up against them and she was going to have to learn how far they jutted out. His solution was only making more of a problem. "Wouldn't be the first time and it wouldn't be the last...besides, things aren't nailed down here." Which made it all the more irritating...anything that wasn't secured on this blasted ship moved with every motion.

He visibly bristled at the mention of his sister...the pirate only spared his throat being torn out because he spoke of her in positive manner. "Yes, I would more or less agree with you on that...A dragoness is one you don't confine, least you want her to turn too docile..comfortable with surrounding walls." Growling a bit in his throat before lashing his tail some. "What I'm after or what I'm guarding...interesting ways to put it. Perhaps I just know where things would go if scattered.
PostPosted: Thu Jun 05, 2008 7:05 pm

"Plan B isn't something I'll enjoy, but I'll have no other options. I'll need to get to both of them before my time is up and I'll have to handle Thobias myself then. how comfortable will you both be if I get Gem to abandon this crusade you have us on, and probably take Bell and Kanzec with her?"

"So what beef do you have against these little shard things being put back together? you go plans against Lycear I imagine, but why not simply kill him. You seem like you'd be able to handle some softheart old fool like Lycear with little trouble. or are you more concerned about your nephew's reaction?"

Rahsaveer studied him through keen eyes and then really had to fight to hold in the laughter. Lynnie was going to love it. He almost wanted to say yes just to see her get all fired up and possibly obliterate the captain on sight next time. "Eilynne will not be pleased, especially if you take Kaznec and Jaebelltiah. However, she might be willing to listen to reason if I present it to her. What precisely did you have in mind? An all out search? Your deadline is creeping up extremely fast and you still have no certain location."

He was getting more and more frustrated with her every time she opened her mouth. "Then I'll move it right back to the middle for you," he said with a growl. She wasn't making any sense and she obviously didn't care too much for her own safety. Well, too bad. He did and he wasn't about to let her go tripping over things. Damn woman would blame him. "Maybe the solution is to nail you down instead."
