Lin giggled at that, yes she knew very well how Shiro kept himself occupied.

"This is true, he's always coming up with something. I know for her, he's utterly fascinated by the variety among the elves, though I don't know what he's going to make of the next set of stories I have to tell him."

"And which stories might that be?" Earendil asked curiously.

Sure, a lot had happened, but how much of it would she be telling Shiro? And what points?

"About the continent we took an unexpected detour on," Lin replied with a giggle, "I mean, Shiro had been interested in elven..."

What could she call it, since genetics was a Gaian term.

"Variety, you have to understand, among most of us back home we have a dominant and recessive traits, especially among the humans. Take my parents hair colour for example my mother's is a brown earthy colour and my father's is black, the likely hood of any child of theirs being that exact brown earthy colour would be highly unlikely because black is a dominant trait. My sisters might have black with a brown sheen, but it is likely to remain black for the most part. Humans tend to have a wide range of hair colours because hair ends up mixing colours, becoming lighter or darker depending on the parents. Now you take the Eastland elves who's often have one blond haired parent, and one black haired parent. They're either one or the other, or they have streaks in their hair which most people back home cannot get unless they dyed it."

She grinned at that, that was probably the most she ever understood about genetics.

"Then there's the fact that elves can live for so long that they can change their looks over time, like the way the Sky Elves became fire haired people with freckles, or the way the Night elves have black skin and white hair. Everything about that he would just find utterly interesting."

So much that she knew Shiro wanted to make a genetic database, however Lin had a funny feeling a good portion of what made the elves who they were, was magic. Living magic and there was only so much science could tell a person.

Earendil chuckled. "Then Caras Galadhon is really going to set him off," he grinned. "I've never seen so much variety in people even in the human lands. Though I suppose that goes without saying, since I'd only known about the Light and Dark elves until we met the Night Elves and the Sky Elves. And now Luk says there are the ... what are they called? Water elves and ... whatever other ones he said."

He chuckled again. He couldn't remember, there were simply so many of them.

"Earth elves and Life elves," Lin replied.

She would love to meet those people, but alas that would have to wait for another trip.

"I hope this means he'll come on the next trip."

Earendil couldn't help but laugh at that. "I doubt you could keep him home," he grinned as the song ended and the crowd stopped dancing. He stopped, though he kept holding Lin. "He has an insatiable curiosity, and knowing what he missed on one visit will make him never want to miss another."

There was only a moment of silence before the music started once more, a faster, more lively tune this time.

Earendil looked at Lin. "Do you want to keep dancing?" he asked her.

"I'm not sure to be honest," Lin admitted.

She did like dancing but she wasn't sure if she wanted to continue to do so. It had been a really nice experience though.

"Maybe not..."

A relieved expression crossed Earendil's face, and he released her, though he kept hold of her hand.

"Good," he murmured softly. "I haven't danced in ... has to be at least thirty years. I'm not used to it anymore."

He smiled warmly down at her. "For never having danced before, you did very well."

Lin chuckled at him, "You could have said so too if you didn't want to dance anymore."

She leaned against him as she scanned the crowd for Miyuki. It was one of those cases that while Miyuki was very easy to spot in a crowd, Lin was short so sometimes had trouble finding others in a large crowd.

Earendil squeezed Lin's hand, then gently tugged her through the crowd, looking for a place to sit. They'd been on their feet all day so far, and he was ready for a rest, and he was sure that she would be as well.

"Looking for Miyuki?" he asked with a smile just as he spotted a wooden bench for them to sit on.

"Yes," Lin admitted even though she didn't know why, "I know she'll be fine I just can't help it."

Compared to Miyuki, Lin rarely spent a lot of time with her family. It wasn't that she didn't love her family it was she was just unusually independent.

Which made her wonder why she kept on the look out for her own daughter.

Earendil smiled and led Lin over to the bench. "You're right," he agreed with her, sitting down and patting the bench beside him for her to sit as well. "She is going to be fine. But it is only natural to worry about her, she is our daughter after all."

He looked around at the crowd again. "Still, she is quite small compared to the elves here ... you would have to go higher up to find her."

And even then, finding a redhead in a crowd of fiery-haired elves wasn't going to be as easy as usual either.

Taking a seat, Lin had to smile wryly at that, "I would need a lot of luck to find a higher place, I'm short, she's short and even with that white tip hair, among the Sky elves it's really hard to see her."

You'd think the tails would give it away, but not really, it was just more red.

Earendil looked at Lin quizzically, and without speaking he reached back and poked her wings with one finger. If she was worried, she could just fly, couldn't she? Why would she have to look for a higher place? She could go as high as she wanted to!

Unless there was something he couldn't understand.

Lin laughed, she more often than not didn't fly.

"Yes, yes I could do that, I don't even notice them any more unless I'm bathing I forget, I always walk everywhere."
