A lot simiplar than Gaia, if it weren't for the fact those are the two holidays that matter the most to us it would be more confusing, but then again Gaia is very diverse. Everyone is bringing their celebrations and beliefs into it.
Daemon replied even though he secretly did something on Valentine's Day because he was a hopeless romantic like that.

Well, I think the dwarfs and humans might have more celebrations, but that's all we elves have, Gion shrugged, lying down in the sand and getting comfortable.
After all, they are quite different from us in many ways ...

True... as it generally is. Daemon agreed, since even among inside races it tended to be different.

Gion felt himself falling asleep, and he curled up comfortably, tucking a corner of his blanket under his head for a pillow.

It was probably late Daemon figured and quieted it down for the night. Besides they had many days ahead of them anyhow.

Three days later, Gion was pushing himself through quite a different climate. Instead of sand and sun, it was clouds and blowing snow. Drifts as tall as him were fun to climb over at first, but after a few hours of it his energy was quickly being drained.
Don't suppose it gets any better than this? he asked Daemon jokingly. Or does snow always pile up like this?
If he ever saw Yukito again, he had a bone to pick with him. He made snow look like so much fun ...

Depending on the place, snow piles up to be very high, which is why some people depending on where they live make sure to stock up in case they get snowed in. On the bright side.
Daemon added brightly.
At least it's just snow and not freezing rain or hail... granted if the snow would gain a thin sheet of ice you could walk on it easier. If you're careful.

Well it's taller than I am right now, Gion replied. I just hope it's not that much furth to the Borderlands ...

Hope not as well... if you weren't an elf you would have been in a lot of trouble by now. After all not everyone was immune to the cold.

And do you really think so? Gon asked. I mean ... it's pretty cold as it is ... is being another race a bad thing, then?

No... it's just we don't have advantages like you do.... being out here for this long and wearing what you do now we would need to worry about frostbite. Daemon replied naturally.

Gion blinked as he topped another drift. Frostbite? he questioned, sliding down on his backside and tackling the next one.

Also known as frostburn.... most living things minus the most hardy of plants like trees, are exposed to very cold tempertures for a long amount of time the cold actually damages it. It's like a stinging sensesation as if you had been burned, which where it gets it's name.
Daemon decided that probably wouldn't be enough since Gion obviously was better suited for the cold since he recalled he wasn't wearing mitts... he also heard something about not wearing shoes.
For example... say a human who was not dressed for this type of weather... which in definition is not wearing a thick wool overcoat on top of their clothes, no mitts, no boots, and no hat to cover their ears or the top of their heads. And for argument sake say they got lost in the snow... as tall as you. Constant contact with snow is going to make them colder especially when it touches the bare skin. Now... at first it's okay, it's a bit cold but they're probably use to it by now, but give them say... most of the morning... the cold by this point has probably made him quite numb if he hasn't found a way to warm up, but this time there might be a stinging sensesation it's hard to tell when you can't feel anything. Fingers... any part that sticks out like your ears or nose might turn a bit blue... evenually look black and blue.. that's what a frostbite looks like by the way... it damages the skin... evenually damaging what is beneath the skin... twenty four hours of being out exposed to the elements like that he might lose his fingers that way.

Oi, Gion winced. Definitely glad to be an elf.
Though now he was wondering if he should bother Ulani and Ulrich for a pair of boots ...

Extreme weather does that.
Daemon replied back.
It's that or heatstroke in the desert... Me... I like the Fall weather... not too hot and not too cold.
