Realizing that he had been spoken too, Brody made a noise somewhat quesioning in nature. How had what gotten where? If it turned out those damned retards were ******** with stuff again, Brody was ready to pull out the beat-stick.

"Well? What're we waiting for? Soon as we can get into the street we can just pile in and move out."

Drake looks out the rear door, and is surprised to see a vehicle there. He hears the high-pitched voice of Tweak...suggest they leave him. Drake smiles to himself as he roars back:

Drake: "I'd rather not be 'ditched', thank you."

He goes over to the vehicle, his katana held before him in a defensive position as he examines the humvee before him.

Drake: Could be a trap...how convenient is this, that a way to escape appears from nowhere?

Fuller was waiting for all of them to get the hell out of his building. He'd defended it well enough up tell now. And would do so in the future. Besides it was a pretty tough decision to make. Risk the outside and possibility of attack and leave behind all that ammo for what could be safety. Or make a stand in a secured position since he could now take out the stairs and had enough supplies to last at least a year.

Paranoid delusions and a distrust of any government agency made him hesitant to join the others on going to the outside.

Since his examination of the vehicle didn't result in anything threatening appearing out of nowhere, Drake cautiously opens the driver's side door of the humvee and plops comfortably into the driver's seat. He pounds his fist three times on the horn in short, rhythmic strikes, hopefully letting those who were upstairs know that all was clear...for the moment.

Owle would follow Kalis. As soon as he got into the Humvee, she'd jump in right after him.

It was about midday when it finally broke free of the clouds.

Sharply headed downward, the remaining smoke and cloud exhaust finally twisted away from the front, as the transport broke free.

It was huge, akin to an X-Box, as it made its way toward the heart of the city. IT had no markings whatsoever, let alone any indication of who it belonged to.

However the occupants had a rather good idea of what they were there for.

"First time?"

The question was shouted above the din of rotors and last minute radio communication.

The voice belonged to the gruff yet likeable Captain, who was still suiting up. The other four were seated quietly, strapped in and waiting permission to drop.

The helmeted figure he was asking never looked up from his work, still messing with the stock and scope of his rifle. "....Yea."

Yellowed eyes flashed up, looking into his Captain's eyes.

"First time for everything."

Gabriel wasn't in the greatest of moods by the time he had actually made his way back down the stairs, avoiding what booby traps weren't set off with a wounded person on his back. Afterall, his clothes were bloodied, his gun was uncomfortably pressing into his back, and they were nowhere near an exit, to his knowledge.

So when he had to jump down to the base of the stairs where the explosions had been set off, it was only natural that he land awkwardly and roll his ankle. He grimaced, but otherwise kept the pain to himself. Whoever followed him, however, would have noticed a slight limp as he made his way outside and then to the humvee, where he deposited Brody somewhere in the back, then situated himself beside Drake in the passenger seat, his rifle now sitting comfortably in his lap.

Assuming Tweak had followed them this far, he'd turn his head towards the street rat and ask him for directions out of the city. It was time to get medical treatment, reinforcements, and ammunition. Without any of the following, they were looking at a minimum of two dead bodies and a good chance of four others joining them shortly.

He didn't even notice the transport dropping out of the clouds as the party prepared to depart.

Said dropship would be experiencing some turbulence. No electrical signals of enemy radar pings, no beacons of incoming sufrace to air missiles, no tell-tale tracer rounds of anti-aircraft fire.

From all around the deep inner city the ground would come alive with activity. Unknown to anyone since no one was human to make mention. And any attempts at aerial reconnaissance were promptly shot down.

Launched into the air were rigid spikes that were distinctly biological. Aiming to perforate the hull of the dropship, or lodge themselves in the fuselage in any way possible. Amid the hundreds of spikes were gobs or slime. Once smattered on the dropship, the corrosive would ablate the armor and expose everyone inside to everything on the outside.

No contrails of missiles, no gunshots below. Just one big shitstorm.

"Getting a little trouble with keeping it steady, Mike."

"Eh?"

The co-pilot, aptly named Mike, looked on over to the pilot, even as the transport began doing it's version of the macarena. Truth be told, he wasn't getting anything on his screen.

"Well we're almost at the dropoff point-- ETA 2 minutes. I'm sure it's nothing."

"Yea, I gue----!"

SHRRRRRKKK

Mike watched as the pilot suddenly became split like a b***h slapped Red Sea, a giant spike responsible for the intrusion. Not to meantion the squealing and death of metal as the transport came under fire.

"HOLY ******** Mike.

Within the actual bay of the drop-chopper, the Captain knew s**t had hit the fan once they began losing major altiltude.

"Goddamn-- no one said anything about A-A capabilities!!" He held on tightly to a overhead handle even as he sidestepped a gouging spike into the floor.

"There's s**t everywhere!!" The men were in an uproar as they basically held on and could only watch, waiting for the order to jump out.

"David! Get the hell in there and see what you can do about landing this pig belly up!"

Even behind the visor of his helmet, yellowed eyes narrowed as he stood up. Kicking in the mangled door that led to the cockpit, he was rewarded with a nice sight of both pilots nailed in the a** basically.

Without even as so much a pity for the dead, he removed the bodies from the seating with a well placed boot, and started pulling on the handle.

The wind ripping through all the nifty aerodynamic holes and the fact that some kind of s**t was eating through the dropship itself wasn't helping.

The drop-chopper was going to come in hard, and use a building to cushion it's impact.

The heavy whine of a dying engine and the big a** plume of smoke trailing out its rear would be noticeable enough.

Kalis wasn't going down though; he marched his way back up the stairs as everyone retreated down past the apparantly emptied ground floor. So the plan was pretty much worthless, but all the better they'd had it and not had to put it into play than reverse.

When Kalis got to the roof of the building again, he'd wave Owle off from following him, pointing down the the jeep on the ground below. "I need to keep this thing in one peice if I can; I dun' want to have to buy another so soon. I'll be with everyone in a minute." and saddled himself on the mechanical steed, putting in the key and not bothering to pull up the goggles or dig out a helmet; which he'd lost a while back anyway.

Revving the bike, he made a slow turn to gather speed, and ran for a lower edge, popping the front tire to jump him over.

Landing on the other side was rough. As usual. Stepping off immediately, he turned the bike back off again, like it had been in the first place, and marched it into the building, down the stairs, and out the front door, wheeling his motorcycle up next to everyone moving into the fortunous jeep. No comment.
He pulled his flask up from his side, and took a swig from it while he waited for everyone to get ready to go in the jeep. No point in leaving them all behind when he'd come here to clear them out. Well, just one of them, but that didn't mean he was leaving everyone else.

Ymiristani Proto Soldeir Type E-IV was in the general area, close enough to hear the crash-landing, even sensing the vibration through the buildings. It started moving in at full speed, a mere ten kilometers per hour, stomping as it went along. Even at low speeds, the proto soldier was anything but stealthy, moving at full speed it hit the ground with intimidating thumps. But Proto Soldier wasn't designed for stealth, it was designed to kill.

"Investigating Teritorial Intrusion, requesting reinforcements."

The request wasn't spoken, but sent over internal radio. Proto-soldeir had upgraded itself, giving itself better communication with whatever was controling the infected in this God forsaken city.

Drake glances at Gabriel as he feels around for a key.

Drake: "Might want to bind that."

Though no one else knows it yet, Drake has absolutely no idea how to drive. None at all. He'd seen others driving, and has a basic idea of the concepts involved, but he has no experience whatsoever. Taking all this into consideration, Drake decides the driver's seat is not the best place for him. He turns to Gabe with a concerned expression.

Drake: "You know how to drive...?"

He trails off as a mechanical keening begins to become audible. Drake rubs at his ears, only to find that the noise is not his ears ringing...and it's getting louder.

Drake: "What's that noise?"

He pops open the door of the Humvee and hops onto the pavement, moving out of the alleyway for a better view...and then he sees the damaged drop-chopper. Dropping towards a nearby building. Very, very rapidly.

Drake: "...TAKE COVER!"
PostPosted: Tue Nov 28, 2006 3:30 pm

"Just rolled it, nothing serious."

As Drake was feeling around for the key, Gabe aided his search by popping open the glove compartment, searching for a key in there. There wasn't much luck, but fortunately enough when he shut the compartment his eyes caught a pair of keys just sitting at his feet.

Gabe sat up, keys in hand, ready to hand them over to Drake when he spoke again.

"What, you don't?"

Gabe arched an eyebrow at the question. He didn't know of many grown men that didn't know how to drive, but it probably wasn't out of the question. He nodded his head.

"Yeah, sure."

And then Drake was out of the vehicle. Gabe simply slid over into the driver's seat, stuck the key in the ignition, and prayed for the vehicle to start as he turned the key. The military-grade humvee roared to life, and anyone noticing might have noticed Gabriel mouthing the words 'thank you', with his eyes cast skyward.

This also allowed him to catch a glimpse of the screaming metal box plunging down in their general direction.

"Everybody in, NOW!"

Once everybody got into the vehicle with the exception of Kalis, Gabriel would throw the Humvee into reverse and attempt to put as much distance between their group and the deathtrap of an alley as possible. They survived a horde of zombies, being crushed wasn't an option now.

The drop-chopper would slam right into the building, caving in giganormous sections and causing the latter to tumble debris right atop any unlucky souls in the area.

The last glimpse afforded to the viewer was within the cockpit, as David kicked off the seats, pulled up and out by arms as he sent a frag flying in.

The resulting detonation was enough to ensure there would at least be a mangled exit point for them, even as the transport finalyl settled into a 'fly on the wall' position.

And all was quiet.
