Mahoka was in a less then enlighting mood. A scowl was present on her features, and her brow was furrowed in utter loathing. Dust was sweeping past her in a mixture of honey and brown, staining her already soiled fur. Shaking her head, she stood, taking shelter under a rather small tree, sighing heavily as the shadow poured itself over her body, the sun's rays dancing around her as the leaves swayed in the light wind, illuminating her features.
Several gashes were present over her body, one highly visable one over her left acid-green eye. Her gaze travelled over the conversing felines, her tail swaying behind her in a slightly irritated manner. Her mind wandered as she stared, the world suddenly oblivious to her. She enjoyed dreaming of what was, and what could be. She was strange, really. Not many understood her, and not many really cared. She didn't mind though.

Asi snorted a bit, glancing sideways at Amari. Sweet as honey to the females, he was. His made a face and glanced around, ears flicking.
"Yew did never meet'a lion befurr?" His head cocked to the other side, eyes widening a little. He thought a moment; it made sense, he'd never met a cheetah before. "Well I did never meet'a cheetah, sos I guess we do be even." He gave a small grin.
Why hadn't the itch between his shoulderblades leave yet? They'd found the watcher.. so why did he still have the feeling of being watched? He hadn't realized that Binti and Shujaa were watching. Well, obviously. They were hidden.
Being that he hadn't looked around he hadn't noticed Mahoka either, which was probably the best thing to not notice. She was one of the few females he'd met.. and unsurprisingly he didn't get along with her.

Mahoka's snapped out of her half-conscious state, her eyes flicking over to the familliar male. She retracted her claws, digging into the soil beneath her softly, her lips suddenly going very dry. Raising an eyebrow slightly, she moved closer to the male.
He was the only Lion she knew. She looked away sadly, her heart giving a slight wither at the knowing she had no one. That she was alone. She gently propped herself on the ground, laying her head upon her large paws, closing her eyes, unaware of the tear gently trickling down the side of her cheek.
It wasn't unusual for her to cry.

Asi shifted again, letting out a sigh. His eyes finally flicked around, body twisting so they could look all around. He was so sick of feeling like he was being watched. The first time they passed right over Mahoka; her dark pelt wasn't too much out of place in this region. Then they flicked back.
He didn't realize she was feeling horribly low, not at all. He shifted and stood slowly. "I do plan on bein' back in a bit amari.." He shifted again, slow steps bringing him toward Mahoka. Once she was in hearing range; now Amari and the cheetah cub were not, he gave a meschievious grin. "Yew do be followin' me and it do be rather.." He trailed off, just now spotting what misery she must be in.
His face crumpled, he couldn't very well try and hurt her feelings while she was like this. Gingerly he sat "What do be wrong with yew?" The question was somewhat rude, but he was concerened, he knew he wouldn't want to be feeling like that..

She was oblivious to his advancing footsteps, but his words seemed to ring through her ears. Almost immediatly she sat up, staring at him hatefully. Her face softened at his slightly-concerned voice, sighing heavily, her ears flattening against her cranium.
"Nothing .. Really. I'm just feelin' a little down, I guess." She whispered huskily, trailing off slightly near the end. She glanced away from him, not able to look in his eyes and lie. Her eyes were set upon a tree in the distance, her tail curling around her body, twitching slightly. She glanced back towards him, giving him a painful smile.
"See? I'm fine."

He snorted and rolled his eyes. "You do no look ter be fine." He said it in his more normal manner, a bit snotty. Well.. perhaps he could still be mean to those in anguish. b*****d. Then he grinned. Maybe it was just a female thing..
"Wha' 'appened ter yew? Fall inter a prickly bush?" Man he needed to learn when the right time was for jokes. And hurtful comments.

She narrowed her eyes, standing, moving forward and standing before him menacingly. "Is that what I am to you? A joke?" She hissed, retracting her claws, scratching them against the soil beneath her viciously.
"You egotistical, obnoxious, self-centred, evil .." All of her anger was spilling out in rivers, her breath becoming ragged and forced. She hesitated, before continuing.
"Try being alone for months on end, not knowing whether you are going to survive, if you want to survive. Then, when you think all is lost, you are attacked while you are asleep. A dream? No. Dying .. Just, dying." She trailed off, her limbs shaking in utter loathing. She turned, her head hung.
" .. I don't have to waste my time on you."

He quickly stumbled back at her tounge lashing; he did seem to do that to others' anger. "Bein' alone? Yew do think i do know nothin' of bein' alone, do yew?" He growled a bit, standing as she turned away.
He wondered who'd attacked her.. it didn't matter. Not really. He was surprised at her use of 'big' words, something he'd never be able to do. "And yew do no be a joke..." It wasn't his fault he found it easiest to communicate with other lions by teasing them..
"Yew may 'ave been alone fer months, i did be alone all my life. So don'chu go assumin' crap like that.." He snorted, eyes flicking away from her.

She turned, staring at him, raising an eyebrow. "Psh. Maybe you do, but atleast you didn't have to watch your back every second, of every hour, of every day." She closed her eyes, trembling slightly, sitting, tears springing to her eyes once more.
"I was attacked several times. I was easy prey, they told me. Laughing, always laughing .." She closed her eyes, pondering what to say to him for a few moments, before lowering her head.
" .. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have lashed out. I .. I'm sorry."

He made a face; he had no clue how Amari enjoyed the company of females at all. Were they always this moody? Or was it just Mahoka? " 'oo attacked yew, eh?" He raised a brow, not commenting on her apology. Lions who said they were sorry for stupid crap.. well.. he just didn't care to pay it anymind.
"An' if yer dunn like bein' alone why don't yew go find some friends?" His head tilted lightly. He was too afraid of latching on to anyother lion, being alone suited him just fine.

She stared at him, a sudden fear covering her features. She shook her head, her breath wavering.
"I'll be fine alone, I think. I .. don't want to risk getting hurt again.. No." She hissed, shaking her head.
"Thanks for this, but I really have to go. Besides, I know you don't like my company, eh. Who does? Thanks for everything." She whispered softly, before turning, and moving away from the juvenile Lion.

He stared after her a moment, taking a few steps to follow. She was.. so much like him. He didn't think he'd ever find someone so simular. Perhaps her past was different, but it was obvious her present was the same. He sat down quickly, to keep him from following.
Following. A girl. He made a discusted face and shifted, tail flicking. He still stared after Mahoka though, head tilted the slightest bit.

Yawning, Binti rolled onto her back, watching Amari try to put the young cheetah at ease. Swatting an idle paw at Shujaa, her careless pose belied her sharp eyes, which remained fixed on the young lions below. Always the paranoid one, Binti.

She was suddenly aware of.... many eyes around her, many ghostlike presences... were there more strangers here? Feeling ill at ease, the cheetah inched forward towards the rusty male-- a tiny, shaky smile upon her mouth. Embarrassedly brushing off his compliment, whether it be sincere or not, Taraju met his chocolate-hued eyes evenly. "To choose to go on an 'adventure'... at this time for me... would be folly. I'm grateful for your concern, but I can't say that I didn't know the dangers beforehand."She inhaled raggedly, pale eyes skimming over the sweep of dust and grass before them. "All I knew, as I ventured out here... was that anywhere would be safer than what I left behind."A distinctly uncomfortable look spread across the cheetah's face; she fell into silence, paws trained firmly onto the ground. Inwardly forcing her dark thoughts away, Taraju instead fixed her gaze onto the youth. The male lion had lay down lazily, tail and eyes following her in a casual arc. Taraju swallowed nervously, acutely aware of his gaze on her odd, dappled coat. Those hazy, intent eyes, the slight curve of his mouth... they sent her awash in odd feelings, things she would rather not recall-- Luckily, his shadowy companion broke the silence. Snapping out of her daze, Taraju turned to smile slightly at the lion's comments on meeting a cheetah. However, he soon excused himself to meet another lion, and Taraju was left once more with her vivid companion. He seemed nice enough. She ventured a question, ears perked in mild inquiry. "Er-- it may be just my paranoia, but it seems that there are others here. Your friends, perhaps?"The cheetah's light gaze had trailed upwards, towards the figures that sat watching them-- she turned to glance back at the male, a hint of a smile in her eyes.

Seemingly unaware of how uncomfortable he was making her, the juvenile smiled softly at her reply, she sounded extremely intelligent for her age, wise beyond her years. Perhaps that is how such a small cub as herself had survived without her parents. He nodded in a reply and twitched his ears, closing his eyes briefly to rid them of the sun which was causing them to ache.
As she inhaled he snapped to attention once more, shaking his head to rid himself of the sudden drowsiness that had settled upon him. The sun was slowly starting to have an effect on him and he yawned wide before answering. "Hey I'm sorry to hear that..." He trailed off thoughtfully, "sounds like you had a bad time." He said no more, deciding not to bring up any more bad thoughts. It was quite possible that this little cheetah did not want to dwell on such painful memories.
It was at that moment when the female lioness appeared and Asi took his leave, dragging the rusty lion's attention over to the pair. Oh oh oh! So that misery guts of a lion did have a girl! A smirk twitched at his pale maw and he drew both ears forward to attention. Yes she was definately a pretty specimen indeed, well built, beautiful fur...apart from the cuts that covered her. He was about to go over and introduce himself - as well as tease Asi - when the cheetah spoke once more.
"Others here?" He turned his head swiftly around, eyes narrowing as he scanned the area. He hadn't noticed anyone approaching but then again he hadn't really been paying attention.
He pulled himself up once more onto his paws and shook the strands of mane from his eyes. "All I see is Asi with his new girlfrie..." He trailed off then, noticing that the dark brown female seemed to be walking away. He had been dumped already? With an exasperated sigh the young lion turned his attention to the cheetah once more. "You sure someone's watching?" He asked a little nervously, lowering his head instinctively.
