Alright, this is step 5. Step 4 was choosing a color palette and because this isn't something I'm doing just for me, it involved committee, it took....a long time. At it's height it was 8 layers, this is just color and the final color image. But we're not done yet!

SGMS '07. School Girl and Mobile Suits is an annual lecture series hosted by my college. Speakers come in from the field and discuss themes in anime and manga, how they translate from Japanese culture, what the impact is on American culture, etc. It's also very heavily into pop culture that comes out of Japan, the first night being devoted to the fashion and consumer aspects. I've been helping run it for a number of years now, this year I'm second in charge. We're currently collecting speakers, but on the side I'm making a website to have advertise the weekend, especially since the school keeps cutting the budget for it up because "not enough people attend." Of course, that only started happening when they stopped advertising it. It doesn't help that we, the people who run the event, don't have any control over the type of advertising, and what Design Works (the add company) has been coming up with lately is way off target. So I've been given carte blanche to find ways to spread the word.

Inque Clay I see, I see said the blind man. ... to his deaf dog... ... over the phone. There is some simularities, but I always thought Inque's work had a bit more personality than Chugston's. I like Chugston, but I'd rather see a comic drawn by Inque.

AMAZING work, Luce! heart
Advertising-wise, is there any way you could get that image on those glossy notecard-type adverts clubs, etc. use and pass them around campus? It's such a great design, I can't imagine it wouldn't entice people to go.

Chynna has a fantastic design sense though, and as we all that really turns me on. I turn down lots of art simply because, however bubbly and enegetic it is, the design and layout makes me want to want to scream.
