"Ahhh, that was terrible." Ervette's merciless monsoon had soaked them both pretty thoroughly and Hwan stripped off his jacket and shirt to dry them on a branch as well. The air was warm and the sun rolled pleasantly over his shoulders as he stretched. Although they'd pretty much failed shelter class, he felt the day was starting off nicely.
He felt a small amount of guilt for getting Shakuntala wet because it had mostly been his fault but she moved on without addressing it and he decided to go with her flow. No point making her even more uncomfortable than he already had, right? Though he wondered if she'd be okay with the first aid pantomiming if he had to touch her 'broken leg'. Hopefully she wouldn't freak out again, though her blushing face had been an adorable sight.
'What did she mean, bodies aren't supposed to work that way?' Hwan mused over her earlier outburst. Her panic as he'd dragged her into the tent had not gone unnoticed but he struggled to make sense of what she'd cried out. From his perspective it had been fun and playful but he supposed a shy wary girl like Tala might think differently. She murmured a question to begin the next half of their homework and he thought over it for a minute.
"I'll go first on the leg." The decision was made in hopes of giving her some more time to recover from their previous contact. "My leg! My leg's broken!" Lurching forward, he fell to his knees before slowly crumbling to the ground. Curling a leg to his chest, he protectively held onto it with his hands and writhed as if in intense pain. He'd never actually broken his leg before so this was hard to act out but being a troublemaker in his youth, he did know what it felt like to break an arm and so he channeled that experience in his performance.
"Tala, it- er, can I call you that? It hurts awful." He broke character briefly to ask about the nickname, realizing he might be acting too casually with a girl he didn't know very well. Normally, he just did whatever he wanted but something about her was different and demanded slightly better care.

You can assume Hwan is teasingly acting difficult to treat trying to swat away her hands as if he's in shock in your post. : P But he would settle down eventually to let her complete the task.

"I have not. I've pretty much always stayed in the cities," he admitted. Camping out in the streets wasn't quite the same thing, either.
Shun waited for her to look over the branch and the tree, then nodded at the request. He grabbed the rope and went on to do as she asked. He looped it around the tree, then tied it where he needed to. Once he had that done, he paused, trying to figure out if he had a good length of rope remaining.
Furrowing his brow, he went on and finished tying it up, though he was a bit uncertain with his handiwork.
Seeing the other pout, Lip shook his head and continued what he was doing before getting up and taking the materials needed to the spot that Alec picked out. "You really... have no experience? How pathetic...." He mumbled a bit as he moved some things around. "I can do first aid care better than I can make a stupid shelter BUT at least I know how." He grumbled and teased... poking fun at the shorter male. Lip wasn't lying when he said he knew how to at least build and set up a shelter; him and chris did occasionally at their spot by the river to camp there... to have some time alone that was relaxing and quiet. The auburn male briefly wondered what Chris was up to.... then looking back to Alec who was on his tippy toes, trying to get the rope over the branch. He grumbled more as he thought of how helpless Alec was.
Lip rolled his eyes at the other when he told him to tie the other side of the tarp but rather than ignoring it, Phillip actually just did as he was asked. Tying down the tarp then fixing each side a bit till he deemed it perfect. He busted up laughing when the other said he wasn't that short, "Yeah?.... you are shorter than my short friend! You are like seven inches shorter than me! I bet I could chuck you, no problem either... short stack." He mocked before looking back at the Shelter.

Alec gave him a sort of stare that lasted longer than it should have, his eye twitched only slightly as he listened to his grumpy companion continuously tease and mock him. "Yea, you got 7 inches on me all the more to kick your ankles down." The red head made sure to check that the structure was mostly smoothed out having to go by eyeing the details of the tent-like setup. "Just because I don't have a lot of experience with it doesn't make me pathetic. I'll learn." He rolled his eyes, adjusting to the others bad attitude by simply rolling with the punches. When laughed at he swore he felt his face burning red, but he ignored the discomfort, and made sure their structure was set and ready to go. Listening to those grumbled, Alec was silently glad the other hadn’t argued with him further. Even if he was going to laugh at him and gloat about how much better he was at everything, as long as they could finish the activity…he’d take a grouch. Alec of all people could handle most all personality types, so long as he didn’t try and hit him or something equally as obnoxious which he doubted.
Unless Chris kept the company of a mad man, which he supposed was always a thing. Phillip seemed more like the reserved type however. Like only his friends would see him in less of foul state, he knew the type. “There! I think we are good to go.” Alec gave a small sigh, eyeing what they’d managed to come up with. “Instructor!” Alec called out, trying to flag down Ervette so they could get this show over with and onto the next thing.
The woman was quick to come around, waiting for both males to climb into the structure before first testing its sturdiness, then once inside pouring water on them. Only a few drips managed to touch down on Alec’s head but it otherwise held true and didn’t soak either trainee to the bone. Ervette only looked slightly disappointed it hadn't soaked them before giving each a thumbs up. "Head on over to first aid guys, looks good to me." The woman noted with an arch of her brow unsure what they'd been talking about but clearly they were having a contest of wills.

Hwan's sudden proclamation of pain provoked a look of bewilderment from the copper-skinned girl. Her hands froze in a grabbing motion in his direction, as if ready to catch him if he ever toppled to the floor. She never did lay her hands on him, though. Shakuntala followed his motion and seemed to crumple with him to the floor as she eased herself into one of the most comical demonstrations of pain she had ever been witness to. The tenseness of the situation she had unconsciously took on to be serious dropped from her form with a slump of her shoulders. A small puff of air escaped her mouth and, with it, a brief smile at Hwan's sudden break of character.
"I-it's fine," she reassured him with a nod.
However, before she dared lay a hand on him, Shakuntala propped herself up on her knees and pulled the crate of supplies closer to her side. Slipping the first aid manual from it, she flipped through the index and then several pages after to read how to care for breaks. One hand lingered in the box while the other kept the book at a decent level from her eyes. Dropping it to the floor next, she rummaged around in the container while picking out the materials required of her.
This... looks right?she blinked to herself as she held up a square of soft foam and placed it down beside the black-haired male's leg, following it with a few rolls of bandages.
"I, uh, c-calm down..." Shakuntala acted out as per the instructions. "A-and t-take a few breaths. W-where does it hurt?"
Whenever he had indicated specifically where the imaginary pain throbbed from, Shakuntala located that section of treatment in the book and determined how to care for it. She folded the foam in a U-shape and attempted to slip it under the curve of his leg, but she found her hand batted at playfully like a feline at a feather toy. She jerked back a bit, pursing her lips in an attempt not to laugh, and reached forward again.
"You're... Y-you're going to have to c-calm down," she insisted gently as if the situation were real. Finally getting the broad piece of foam about his leg, she reached for a roll of bandage, and began to tightly bound his limb with it as well. This took a bit from her (Hwan's flailing and jabbing at her did not help treatment or her seriousness at all), but she finally managed to procure a decent splint from what was shown within the book's pages.
"T-there..." Shakuntala said with a nod. "Does, um, d-does it feel secure...?"

His scrambling rush to her side was moderately satisfying. Today, she was just... irrationally irritated at everything he did, at his very presence, at his stupid smiles and his golden hair. She stared at it as he bent over her leg. Her lip curled at his melodramatic tone. The game was up. Propping herself up on her elbows, she opened her mouth to say something insulting. Suddenly, he threw himself onto her, gasping out a dry sob. Preacher yelped in surprise. <******** walls. His water-drenched hair dampened her shirt uncomfortably.
"Get tha ******** off me, Axel! s**t's cold!" Axel was heavy, and she tried to crook her knee up to get him in the stomach. Instead, her arms gave out and her head hit the ground with a thud. Great. Her hands reached around him and she punched him hard in his shoulder. His wet shoulder. "Walls, Axel, ya sounds like a dyin' goose. Alright, alright, it ain't ********' real! Bandage me up already!"
What did Harper see in him? What did she see in him? But, against her will, a giggle slipped out at his antics. She kind of wished he wasn't pressed so closely onto her, though. It was a little uncomfortable. Preacher schooled her face back into a scowl.
Wary of the potential wrath of Ervette, Axel backed away after Preacher punched him and set to work unpacking the first aid kit. He schooled his expression into one of businesslike thoughtfulness, though his treacherous mouth kept twitching into a smile. Pissing Preacher off and making her giggle were both fun, but making her giggle was more of a challenge. Rummaging through the bandages and assorted first-aid things, Axel tried to refocus on their assignment. The hand he'd cut with his own knife (walls, what a stupid move) felt stiff and sore. He flexed it, frowning thoughtfully at the supplies. A sprained ankle wasn't bad enough to need a splint, was it?
"When my sister sprained her ankle, we set her up on the couch," Axel said, looking at Preacher's ankle. It was a good lookin' ankle. "But I don't see a couch in this box, so I guess I'll just wrap it up."
Axel held Preacher's foot steady and started wrapping the bandage around her ankle, pulling it tight to keep the supposedly-injured joint in place. "I guess this is good practice," Axel said cheerfully. He paused and turned her foot to and fro, inspecting her ankle carefully to make sure he was winding the bandage on just right. "I mean, we could sprain our ankles in the city easily."
In Preacher's case, "the city" would probably be one of the lavish inner sanctums of Sina. Kind of a bummer.
"Your ankle looks good."

It was a good tree, a really perfect tree. Staring at it and trying to plot out just how she would tie the rope, it took Hilda a minute to answer her partner. "We can tie the rope between two trees," she said, pointing to another good tree a few feet away. "Then throw the tarp over it." Weighing down the corners with stones didn't seem like the best plan but it was probably the best they could do without more supplies. "I wish they gave us more than just a tarp and a rope," Hilda grumbled, handing one end of the rope to Rennati and walking over to the second tree. After looking at the tarp to gauge the potential height of the tent, she started fastening the end of the rope to the tree at about chest height. The taut-line hitch was a loop knot that could be adjusted as needed if the rope lost its tension and began to sag. Hilda had never been camping before, but choosing the right knot was like a puzzle, and Hilda had a fairly intuitive understanding of puzzles.
"So I guess you know a lot about carpentry," Hilda said, checking the knot to make sure it was perfect. Carpentry sounded useful. It could come in handy, she figured. "My foster father was a watchmaker. I was training to be one before I left."
Just thinking of watches was enough to make Hilda twitch a little bit. Watches...and cuckoo clocks. Ugh.
"My end looks good, want to throw the tarp over?" Hilda asked, looking around for likely rocks to weigh down the corners.

It wasn't long after Jeong-jae settled in beside her that Larisa heard the oncoming footsteps of their instructor. Bracing herself for the results of the test, she looked up at the tarp and hoped it would hold. And suddenly realized that they hadn't set up the tarp exactly right, because there was a bit of a space right there and- Water surged above them before she could complete the thought, finding its way all too easily through the dirt up top and pouring in on them. Larisa yelped, flailing out, and shoved up at the tarp to find a way out. As the tarp shifted, all that dirt and muddy water that hadn't come through yet fell in on them.
When the blonde finally emerged from the shelter, she was covered in mud and looked miserable. She almost pointedly 'failed to notice' Jeong coming out after her and so didn't offer him a hand up, attempting to wipe off her face instead. When she discovered that the jacket sleeve she'd been using was also dirty, she grimaced and pulled it off. Ervette was giving them pointers on how to not let this happen the next time, but Larisa quietly hoped there wouldn't be a next time. She'd rather sleep on a tree branch.
And then the instructor was off with a reminder that they still had to try first aid. It took her a moment to remember what they'd been assigned, and what an odd injury it was to have to practice on. But the sooner they dealt with bloody noses, the sooner they could go clean up, right? She looked at her partner, sighed, and gave a weak smile. "I guess I'll, um, go first then." She paused a moment, then lifted her hands to cover her nose and, with a strong push for worst acting ever, declared "Oh no! My nose is bleeding!"

He'd barely caught a glimpse of it it for a second before it was gone again. She had a sweet genuine-looking smile; it probably struck him so strongly because it appeared to be so rare. Her focus shifted back to bandaging his leg up and he gave her a hard time with it to liven things up. Shakuntala was a quiet girl which was relaxing to be around but having a much more rowdy personality himself, he hated when things lulled too much. She softly demanded he calm down and eventually when it was clear they weren't going to hold it together much longer, the boy relented.
The splint felt like it would do the job and he slightly bent his leg a little to see how sturdy it was. It held firmly and he flashed a thumbs up in response to her uncertain expression. She had good instincts for this it seemed or she was really good at following the directions outlined in the guide. Either way it would serve her well in the military. He tested it one more time with his hands before disassembling it so he could stand comfortably to face her.
"Good job, Tala. Now it's time for Doctor Hwan give it a go." He beamed with confidence, confidence unjustly earned by completing two or three shifts of nurse assistant duty with his brother for misbehavior. However, he seemed to think he had honestly learned something there and was keen to show off in hopes of hearing her laugh. Motioning for her to sit down or assume whatever 'injured' stance she wanted, he stepped towards the trees again to grab his still drying shirt and yanking off the branch it'd been hanging on. It would be interesting to try and make a splint with just the clothes on his back and the environment around him, he felt, since one never knew when emergency would strike. Without proper first aid materials, would he be able to get by?
Would she be okay with him touching her leg? After the tent thing, he had his doubts.
The sound of a tarp collapsing in the distance caught his attention and he glanced behind himself to see a dirty Larisa moodily emerging from the ground. It looked as if she'd just crawled back up from hell and he wondered if Jeong would be alive after this to catch dinner together.

"Wait don't-" He'd known it wouldn't go perfectly when Ervette tested their tent but yelped at Larisa's flailing. It was gross to get covered with muddy water but better than knocking the structure over and getting them trapped. Thankfully all she ended up doing was splashing more mud around. Relieved, he waited and let the blonde escape first, figuring she wanted to spare her longer hair from getting dirty as much as possible.
"Well that sucked." Jeong commented, following his partner out. She seemed preoccupied with calming herself down rather than rewarding him with any attention so he shut up and let her try to clean up. Thankfully she hadn't stormed off so she wasn't furious but there was definitely tension in the air. He couldn't tell if her performance was sincerely bad or she was pissed off and mocking the drill was the only venting outlet she had available.
"Okay, straighten up and pinch your nose." Jeong reached over and pressed a hand to his partner's back to ease her into position. He wished he could say it was sexy because he was getting to touch a girl, a wet one no less, but with her shirt covered with mud it didn't have quite the right atmosphere. He was all for getting down and dirty with girls but she seemed genuinely unhappy and he wondered if maybe she was already starting to feel cold.
"Pfff! You look so weird!" The twin's gaze ventured to meet her's and Larisa's lack of acting skills were so bad he couldn't stop himself from laughing. It was a bad idea to crack up right in her face but that silly expression was just too funny!

Feel free to sock him. I think you can see where this is going...
Nodding to her partner, she stayed next to the first tree they had found while Hilda went over to the second and started tying one end of the rope to the tree while Rennati was expected to make a tie on her end. She watched Hilda nervously but couldn't exactly remember all the things she did to make her tie so she pitifully made just a regular knot on her end. It didn't really look very great but she hoped it would hold up to one bucket full of water or her partner might get kind of mad at her. Ren stared at her knot a little bit longer until Hilda started talking to her again. "I suppose in theory I do but...I tend to be a little klutzy so my family normally just preferred that I stayed away from anything important..." She frowned as she recalled all the times she had wanted to help her dad with one of his projects or help her mom with dinner or help anyone with anything. Nobody ever wanted her help because it was likely she would end up making it worse. Oh, watchmaking? Rennati wondered what all went into that. "Watchmaking? Was that interesting? It sounds like it might be really difficult." Ren wanted to ask why she left if she had been training to be a watchmaker, but she knew that was likely too personal a question.
Moving on with their shelter, she threw the tarp over top of the rope and hoped it would stay in place. "Shall we call for the instructor?" She asked, but figuring they were done with their shelter she waved towards the instructor when she caught her attention.

Shakuntala let out a breath. Okay, yea, it was her turn. No big deal, right? She just had to feign extreme pain in the most convincing way ever. That was totally easy.
"Ahhh."
Scratch that, it was harder than she had guessed it. Shakuntala looked absolutely ridiculous and she knew it. She had splayed her hands out before her and fanned them as she hopped up and down on one leg; her best attempt at faking her broken leg. Her lackluster cries of agony ended with her laying on her back on the ground propped up on both elbows as per Hwan's directions. She flexed her "broken" leg to make its treatment easier, but her eyes were focused elsewhere.
Glancing up to the passing clouds still seen through the intermingling canopies, Shakuntala tried to think of other, more comforting things as her leg was touched. This took a bit out of her, though; she wasn't used to anyone, let alone a male, lay a hand on her in such a familiar manner. And, considering her little outcry from being squished up alongside her work partner, she knew her reaction wasn't going to fair well.
Whenever Hwan's hand was on her checking and treating her injury, Shakuntala tensed up, but kept her eyes concentrated hard on the sky. It was a lovely sky. Very blue. A crisp blue. With very puffy, puffy clouds. That would looked like a wagon- By the walls, his hands is on my knee! Remove, please! And that once had the faint appearance of a cat- Are you done yet?
Shakuntala blinked when she thought the black-haired male to have finished binding her leg with his shirt. She studied her limb curiously, wondering about his handiwork.

Do you want to roll or should I? Shelter is basically made just need the tarp covering.
"Pretty much the opposite of me then." Farvardin said when he admitted he stuck to the cities, "I was born in a mountain village and frequently spent my nights in the woods. Haven't really spent much time in any city." She stepped back when he tied off the branch and gave it a good look. She stepped forward again and gave it a good tug. It moved a little but didn't fall right down. With the other sticks supporting it, it should hold. "Yep looks good."
She began grabbing the other sticks and began figuring out how to get them to stay up without using any more rope. Some of them had parts that stuck out near one end so she simply put those by the main branch and wedge them together. She continued doing this for all of the sticks that were like that. Soon there was a decent wall of sticks making up their lean-to. "Hmmm that should do. Now to just put the tarp over it and tie it down. Wanna do the honors?"

Ervette swung around first making her inspection of Hilda and Ren. She had her bucket at the ready, and much to her amazement the structure was just as solid as the previous pair she'd gone after. Were these trainees learning from the mistakes of those before them? The green haired woman chuckled at the two before winking. At least they had that much going for them.
"Well done! Go on and move over to first aid you two."She was about to say more to them, when she noticed the four she'd grouped up were still mulling about. Her gaze focused, gently encouraging the pair she'd just spoken to continue she left them abruptly apologizing witih a gentle simple. The life of a teacher was usually a busy one and rarely afforded her much down time.

"Hey, it looks like your team has too much free time on your hands. I wanna see you all build me a shelter and practice bandaging your wrists. Go on, make it quick." Ervette chuckled, arching a brow at her gathering of trainees she'd directed this too. The instructor wasn't being overly rough, in the time it had taken her to assign pairs she'd made a quick trip to get a few more supplies, uncaring if they were running low now. She wanted to see every participating according to the lesson best as possible even if it meant a little tough love.

Treat this as a solo mission. Get your shelter built, and have her do her thing with first aid then you should be good to go.
