Phobius blushed a little harder, but kissed Hermione right back before heading into the Room of Requirement with her. Harry brightened at the mention of food; his stomach growled a little, causing him to blush slightly. "Food sounds good to me. Er, is there any treacle tart?" he asked half hopefully and half sheepishly.

Hermione sat down smiling about what Phobius said to her. Katherine smiled at her friend before turning to her crush, "Of course, I got treacle tart, what kind of friend would I be if I didn't get any but dinner first." She said floating the tart out of his reach. "Now dig in." Katherine said as she starting to eat.

Harry sulked slightly at being momentarily denied his favorite treat, but complied nevertheless, taking some food and starting to eat. Phobius glanced over at the smile still on Hermione's face, a little surprised that something that simple could make her smile so much... then again, he had never claimed to be an expert on emotions or women, so he just gave her a small, quick smile back before starting to eat.

Hermione ate her food as Katherine whispered in to Phobius's ear, "I told you Hermione was simple. She just likes you and all you have to do is try to say what you honestly feel about her at times." She said. Hermione then looked at Harry and said to him, "Well she is takin care of you so that you atleast eat healthy."

Phobius nodded in understanding, though he was still a little skeptical... human beings were complicated, surely human relationships were similarly complicated? "True," Harry allowed, a small smile crossing his face; he was glad Katherine cared. ...He still wanted those treacle tarts, though.

Katherine sighed before saying, "Try not to over think this, Phobius. Just think simple." She tried to install this in to his mindset. Hermione then said, "And she probably isn't going to give it to you when you finish your dinner."

Phobius just gave her another skeptical look - he was a fellow of logic, and as such was reluctant to believe that any relationship could be simple. Emotions were complex, ergo relationships were complex. Romantic relationships had particularly high amounts of emotion involved, ergo they were far more complex than other relationships... right? Harry promptly returned to sulking slightly at that particular tidbit, amusingly enough... he really liked treacle tart.

Katherine sighed before saying, "Ok right now it's really simple. It will get complex when we aren't 11 or 12 like when we're 15 or 16. Hell you might get more possessive and go in to mating season on Hermione cause of your creature parts." She explained. Hermione smiled at Harry. "I'm sure she'll give it to you."

"The mating season might not happen - the only instances of boggarts having sex are when their victims are afraid of being raped, and my other creature part isn't particularly known for sexual activity either," Phobius noted critically. "...Besides, it would probably be best to hope I don't have a mating season - as a general rule, when Dark creatures have mating seasons, they tend to be rather... rough, to say the least." Still, her explanation seemed to satisfy his sense of logic, so he refocused on eating. Harry nodded, starting to eat a little faster so he could get his treacle tarts sooner.

Katherine thought about it, "What if Hermione would like it rough?" She asked kind of joking. She finished off her plate. She then took the treacle tarts out of the air. She shrugged before trying one. Hermione widened her eyes, "well it looks like she is eating one of them.

"She's already gorgeous, intelligent, and kind - expecting her to 'like it rough', as you put it, would be both unrealistic and just plain greedy and selfish on my part," was Phobius's blunt-as-ever reply. Harry let out a cry of dismay, quickly finishing his food so he could have some of the treats too.

Katherine shrugged at Phobius before saying, "We'll only know later." She said plainly. As Harry cried out as she ate some of his treats, Katherine swallowed what was in her mouth before giving the rest to Harry. "It's ok but I would rather have ice cream and cake. Pip!" She said, a house elf appeared before her smiling. "Hey Pip, you got it?" Pip smiled happily, "Oh Miss Kat of course Pip has it. Cookies and cream ice cream with vanilla cake." The elf said. Katherine smiled taking the bowl, "I owe you Pip." The house elf blushed before saying, "You knows you don't need to pay Pip back though Pip would like some of Miss Kat's cookies." "You got it, Pip." Katherine said smiling before the house elf disappeared. "What was that, Katherine?!" Hermione shouted at the other witch. Katherine looked at Hermione shocked at the shout.

Harry glanced over at Katherine with similarly surprised and questioning eyes, though he didn't vocalize his question like Hermione did - he was too busy eating a treacle tart. Phobius sighed; he knew this topic was going to come up eventually. As such, he went to head off the worst of Hermione's reaction. "That was a house-elf - a magic-using creature that is used as labor by some of the older wizarding families and institutions. I don't know all the details, but basically, the house-elves magically bond themselves to their master - a bond that can only be broken by death or giving them clothes," Phobius explained. "And if you're thinking of going on a crusade to try and free them all, I suggest you try to be subtle about it - attempts to free them outright will not go over well with them. Best case scenario, you'll get one or two of the more eccentric or abused house elves interested, and the rest will see you as a raving lunatic and do their best to avoid you until you drop the subject."Harry listened intently, then asked, "What's the worst case scenario?"Phobius pursed his lips. "...Well, let me put it this way: a while back, Mother and I asked the family house-elf if he wanted to be free. He then took offense at us for even suggesting it and quite literally turned the house upside-down for the rest of the day until he got the point across that he was quite happy working for us. Granted, he's more aggressive than the average house-elf, but the point remains - do not even suggest the idea of freedom to a house-elf unless you are absolutely certain they will take it well. Their servant mentality is generally too deeply ingrained in their psyche for them to take up a new way of life even remotely easily."

Hermione looked at Katherine ready to apologize. Katherine looked hurt by Harry and Hermione. She looked down to her dessert not sure if she wanted it now. "I had a long talk with Pip when I found the kitchen and he told me the basics of how house elves are. It might be slavery for some but most love what they do. Pip and I have an understanding of give and take. It's mostly food that is traded. He is the one that I got to make our dinner cause the others were too busy making dinner for the Great Hall. I'm not going to lie and say I like how house elves are but I know I can't change nature. Now I going to go to bed. Night guys." She said putting down the dessert and turning on the spot in to her Kitten form. She ran out and back to her dorms. Hermione was teary eyed at how she reacted to seeing how Katherine acted with the House elf.

Harry similarly felt a little guilty - sure, he hadn't been upset with Katherine like Hermione had, he had just wanted to know what the heck that creature was, but she didn't know that. He made to go after her, only for Phobius to stop him. "I'm not sure, but I think perhaps it would be best to let her calm down first; you can talk to her in the morning." Phobius told his friend quietly before going to comfort and calm Hermione. Harry hesitated, then reluctantly nodded in understanding, silently heading to his own dorm to at least try to sleep.
