A hundred rocks would maybe be a good start. But he didn't have time for a hundred rocks.
The distant, watery sonar of help-needing finally reached him.
That and the mermaids.
Harrison zipped up the backpack, shouldering a comparatively conservative amount and eyed the teeth-baring armied cluster of fish ladies.

Harrison undid his other blade.
He hadn't fought underwater before. Not like this. He looked over at Tracey.
This was going to be a hell of a thing.

Now they were really talking. Rep had been keeping to the edge of the combat until Harrison had been able to make it to him, when he did, his delight was practically visible in the way his posture changed, giving him a wave with the hand not wielding the enormous glowing axe. His earring blazed like a flare in the gloom, delighted to be underwater.
He was a little bit distracted though as he took a glancing swipe from one of the mermaids while he was busy waving.

Harrison snorted into his scuba gear, and turned to ward off a tangle of claws that had snuck around Rep's back.

Finally he landed a hit, this time on the sneaky b*****d of a mermaid that had snuck around him, moving into the space Harrison had bought him and using the blade against it, though with the resistance of the water, he had to kick behind Tracey with his feet to get any kind of momentum up on the edge.

The swarm whirled in the water, and where Rep let down his guard, or left a vacuum, the mermaids crept in.
Not very nice bitches. He got a swipe in.
I mean, it was their home and all. So it was probably like...coming and wrecking a neighborhood. But Harrison had done worse.

Rep let himself mentally slide into battle mode, patiently picking up the slack that Harrison left behind.
It was really ******** hard to hit efficiently.

Harrison looked, then jerked his head over to a nearby patch of rocks.
Rep needed some grounding to get the weight of the swing behind. He was already fighting the water, he didn't need to fight the eerie lack of gravity too.

Rep noted the gesture and dragged Tracey over in the direction of the rocks, he really wasn't keen on fighting underwater with what amounted to a giant paddle, Tracey was making every single swing a tremendous uphill struggle and his muscles were already aching distantly from the effort.
It helped getting a bit of ground behind him.
Tracey blazed like lava underwater as his runes lit up.

The good thing about being underwater is that Harrison wouldn't have to catch Rep.
The bad thing was he didn't know what the hell was about to happen.
He cleared a few fishy, fangy faces, and gave Rep some space.

The rock gave Rep exactly what he needed, the ground stabilising him and giving him a base for momentum. As Harrison gave him space he let the charge shift to run from runes to veins, letting it flow through him like a conduit. Tracey effortlessly bled into him, water was just like a much thicker form of air - he felt at home.
All around was darkness deep and permanent, old dark that had been there a very long time, and that too encouraged the twisting tendrils of shadow that grew and twined about the blade until the axe became hardly discernible from its usual self.
He kicked off and without gravity to fight with he went up and up and up without restraint. The twist of the blade at the top was as natural as a splayed wing and the drop, the moment where gravity was wrenched out of its own laws for just a moment.
The mermaids weren't really expecting the guillotine of death that slammed down from overhead, and nor, as he reeled after it - was Rep, really.

Well, it wouldn't be the first time that he was indeed a meal. Might not be the last with what he was beginning to learn about this island and this job, but that was always a hazard in the line of being a hero and stuff. But it was nice to have someone watch your back, and Milo appreciated Cass' help. Even if his next attack wasn't exactly the best thing ever.

Okay fine, Lina, he ******** got it, okay? Even though he was supposed to be the defense around here, he inwardly sighed, summoning Trynt so that the long lance rested in his hand, ready to be used. With Stormy acting as a distraction, of sorts, he waited for his opportunity, lance raised and at the ready... ...One of the mermaids got away from Stormy and darted towards him, hitting him on the shoulder and causing a sharp sting of pain that nearly made him drop his weapon as he grimaced and attempted to get dodge away. Stormy, he blamed you. This was not his fault. HP:27 Target: Mermaids Damage: 0 Charge: /3 Mermaid HP: 448

Hey, even a weak attack was important, okay?
And Cass was a very good defender despite not being a moon, so she stayed on that to keep Milo in one piece even with a little bit of faltering there.
It was okay.HP: 50/60 Stones: 18 Defended: 10 Charge: 2/3 Mermaid HP: 443
