Liberty was busy thinking that the f-word hardly seemed like a curse at all, softened by the British accents. However, it recognizably widened her eyes, and made her shoulders momentarily tense.
"I have a horrible temper." Eyes glancing down, she slid her tongue around the entirety of the inside of her mouth before getting the guts to raise them again. "It was a lot worse when I was younger." Or, perhaps it was more that she'd had frequent episodes.
"And I have a hard time saying no." The second it was out of her mouth, Liberty Marie followed with a hasty, "To work."

"Really?" She was genuinely surprised, and the way her hazel eyes flicked over Liberty, it was obvious that she had a hard time believing that Liberty - always so friendly and helpful, had an anger problem.
Then again.
Avery's gaze lingered on strong shoulders, forearms, that jaw, and imagined that the girl's pride [and stubbornness] could lead to anger. She remembered how Liberty had reacted when she'd encountered Thyone. It shouldn't have seemed attractive, that the redhead had such a strong flaw, but the way she owned up to it...
The brunette reached out for Liberty's cupcake, taking a bite and licking a bit of frosting from the corner of her mouth as she handed it back. "I could see that."

I thought you said you believed in me." A flick of her eyes towards the stolen cupcake. "You changed your mind?"
Liberty's smile was cheeky, content, and her eyes flicked down to the frosting that quickly disappeared. She took the cupcake back without further complain, and finished the rest of it like it were nothing.
"And sometimes I chew like a squirrel." But, then, Avery must have known that. Unless she'd been too busy to notice how Liberty had devoured her food on her birthday.

"You made it look good," Avery shrugged, "Consider it a sell." She didn't seem very concerned with invoking Liberty's wrath... Or to mind her chewing. Kess inhaled food, too.
After a pause, she offered another. "I'm incredibly bossy." As if that wasn't obvious.

Finding a napkin, Liberty wiped the last crumbs from her face. A soft intake of breath found its way through her nose, not nearly loud enough to be a snort, but amused all the same.
"My abdomen thanks you." Avery Hollister was definitely bossy.
"How'd you like to boss me around over dinner some time?"

Avery's lips pursed at the reminder of Liberty's injury, which she leveled a glare at.
Until Liberty spoke again, brightening her expression, "Oh!" She reached out to squeeze the redhead's arm. "Yes, I'd love to! I was meaning to talk to you about how I should approach my interview with Channel 6."
The brunette bent, reaching under the table until she found her purse and pulled out her phone, tapping away at. "Is tonight good?"

But Avery's arm quieted her, and the brunette's excitement at the prospect of work was something Liberty couldn't turn down. Had it been a polite refusal? Was Avery telling her to back off? It was impossible to tell; she'd just have to ask again, later, and use the actual word 'date'.
"Yeah. Tonight's good."
It was probably better to wait until after the elections, anyway.
"Your place?" No sense in talking about politics in a public place.
