"It was, and I'm damn well sure that's what Atius intended when he shoved me in there." Van said folding his arms. "And I've totally lost track of how many years I was in there before your brother finally put the ring on." he said scratching the back of his head.

"I wouldn't doubt it. But don't expect my brother to be your permanent residence, either." Mala warned, for probably the millionth time. Before long she spotted an inn at the distance with three or four horses in the stables near it. She sighed and murmured to herself, "If only I had the coin for a horse. It'd be far easier to go on this journey instead of simply walking."

"Well, when you put it that way..." Van had a devious gleam to his eye. Whether he planned on stealing the money for the horses or the animals themselves, it was clear he was already plotting something.

Mala frowned at Van. "Oh no, don't you DARE get caught stealing." she warned. One could note, however, that she wasn't exactly forbidding stealing in general.

"Now who said anything about getting caught?" Van said rather innocently.

Mala still kept an irritated look as she spoke once more. "I don't need you getting my brother in trouble. You may be a horrid thief, but that doesn't mean you need to give Riley a reputation as one too!"

"Relax, I'm not gonna get caught!" Van said turning away from her and folding his hands behind his head. "I'm the god of thievery, remember? This may not be my body, but I've still got my skills!"

"You say that now." Mala huffed, her gaze falling down to her feet as she walked at a casual pace on the dusty road.

"So what you're saying is, you're perfectly fine lugging all this stuff from town to town? And without even an ultimate destination in mind?" Van said, hoping his high charisma score carried over to this body.
((I have no idea. I just felt like breaking the fourth wall. xD ))

"You were the one who packed so damn much." Mala pointed out with a stare sort of look on her face. "Would you rather carry them? Or can you provide us a mule that won't kill either of us with its' back feet? Maybe a carriage? If not, then there is no other alternative."

"Great! Then I'll go get us one!" Van said before trotting forward to fetch some easier form of transport after purposefully taking her words 'no other alternative' in the wrong direction.

Mala knew that she would certainly feel Atius' disfavor after this little stunt, however, she was absolutely sure that she would be unable to save her brother if they didn't have some form of transport that could outrun your ordinary bandit. She decided that she would wait for Van to return, but would at least offer him a blessing of protection so that he wouldn't be as likely to get himself hurt in the meantime.

Some fifteen minutes later, Van came walking back, leading a pair of horses by the reigns behind him while he munched on a chunk of bread in his other hand. "Toldja I wouldn't get caught." he said through a mouthful of food.

Mala grinned. "Well, what do you know? Let's hurry up and get the living hell out of here before anyone gets suspicious." she said, quick to climb atop one of the horses. She motioned for Van to get on the other, and seemed rather impatient about it.

Van stuffed the rest of the bread into his mouth, pounding his chest a bit to swallow the thing before climbing up onto the other horse. "I'm followin' you 'priestess', so lead the way."
