The cloaked man looked over Irvine for a moment, his expression perfectly neutral. It seemed that this man had training, but his style suggested that he was a sniper, and that close combat would throw him off, if only a small amount. He would have already shot him, if not for the fact that he seemed welcome in the house. After all, he recognized Kaia, even if she had only been an infant when he last saw her, and she didn't seem threatened by the man.
Vincent regarded Kaia with the hint of a smile,"You've gotten big..."
He then turned his attention back to Lucrecia with an expression that was difficult to read, even for those who knew him,"I never expected to see you here...alive...I suppose you came to see Sephiroth." He paused, forcing his mind to get back on track, he had come to make sure Yuffie was safe. "Where is he? And what happened in town?"

Kaia tilted her head with confusion, who was this? He knew her, and her grandmother, but she honestly couldn't remember him... "Grandma...who's this?" Se motioned for Irvine to stop pointing his gun at the mysterious man, who in turn didn't seem to care anyways...

 Irvine lowered his shotgun as he sat back down. He looked at Kaia. "So, continue, who is this Jenova person?"

"Jenova's a bug...I think...a really big one, that eats the planet...I think..." Kaia frowned at her small knowledge.

Lucrecia looked into Kaia's direction, then to Vincent once more. It seemed he had known her already, unfortunately she didn't have such a luxury of getting to know the young girl as much as she could have, just like many other things.
She took a small step away from the bedside where Cloud was asleep, toward Vincent but stopping herself before she got any closer.
"...There.. have been a few surprises..." She nodded softly to his words. "Yes..I had heard he was here..I.." She trailed off for a moment, quickly changing what she was trying to say to answer his questions.
"Jenova...She had used someone to attack the village, No one seems to know who he is, He took Kaia's sister, and left. Later he came back and took Aerith and Yuffie.. Sephiroth is fighting to find them.." She didn't know he had already found them, and was fighting inside the Northern Crater.
Turning her attention away from Vincent she glanced over at Kaia. "This is Vincent Valentine.." She smiled softly at the girl.She couldn't say to much more,though as she hadn't been around long enough to know he was a friend of Yuffie's, and Aerith's.

"Well I'll be damned, if thats the case, then lets go get rid of it." He swings his rifle onto his shoulder. "Can't mess with the ladies if theres no world."

He turned his attention to Irvine for a moment,"Jenova is a parasitic alien that fell around two thousand years ago. She destroyed a race called the Cetra, but was sealed in the crater that her arrival caused. Later, foolish people from the ShinRa electric company found her, thinking she was a Cetra, and used her cells in all sorts of experiments...This resulted in monsters that nearly destroyed the planet. All Jenova wants is to drain the planet of life and to use it to go to the next planet to feed. Jenova is a monster." He didn't comment on Irvine's desire to leave the women alone, only looked to Lucrecia.
Vincent frowned and looked away from Lucrecia, out toward the ocean, that was seen though the still-open door. He weighed his options, trying to decide whether to go after the others, and assist against Jenova or to protect the ones who were left... Maybe his emotions were getting the better of him, but he decided to stay. His eyes turned back to meet Lucrecia's once more, his expression softening,"I will stay here. You don't need to be left alone."
He stepped over to Cloud, his frown returning,"Is that how Cloud was injured? Jenova's minions?"

Kaia tilted her head again, listening to Vincent's explanation of Jenova...something that had never truly been explained to her. Honestly, she was still confused, but she nodded anyways. She ran the name over in her mind a couple times, trying to remember where she had seen or heard of him. Her mom mentioned someone shooting her father before...but this Vincent seemed too nice to do that...

Kaia then sat down and curled up in a corner, the excitement of the day finally getting to her. She fell asleep quickly, her chin on her knees.

She listened to him enplane Jenova's existence to Irvine, A man she would have to learn a little more about before she would fully trust him.He may of helped bring Cloud to a safe place, but still. She wasn't as trusting as her little granddaughter was.
As she his crimson red orbs rested on her, her own eyes set to meet his just before he turned away toward the ocean.Her mind would have thought of all the reasons why he might of looked away normally, for for the first time, she kept her mind at ease.
Then she saw them again, eyes full of mystery, and at the same time, such sorrow and pain. Just like Sephiroths.. The two most important people to her, she couldn't do anything to help there pain go away. As he spoke those words, she felt a gentleness warm her heart. He would stay. She was to afraid to say it, but the truth was, Lucrecia wanted him to stay. She knew he was staying not just for her, but for everyone else.
"Thank you..We really need you.."
Turning toward Cloud, Lucrecia shook her head softly. "We don't know. He doesn't appear to be injured, he is very weak, but I see no signs of any injure on him.."

"He's keeping this arm as if its hurting him," he motioned toward Cloud's injured arm,"But I think we'll have to wait for him to wake up to properly deal with it."
Vincent looked at Lucrecia as he had so many times before, but this time, he could touch her if he so desired. She needed him... those words nearly broke his will. Yet, his hands were stained, he couldn't, not after how he had failed her. Again, he looked away from her, as if he couldn't bear to look into her eyes for too long. This time his gaze fell upon Kaia, who seemed like she simply couldn't take anymore. Gently, he lifted the girl and carried her back to her room and put her into bed. He then returned to the living room without a word.
"She seems a lot like her mother." Really that was the only thing he could manage to say to her. What was there to say? What could he say to pay for every time he failed to save her. For the way he let her slip into Hojo's grasp, and further, how he let Hojo use her... When his eyes met hers again, he found no blame, no judgment. Because that wasn't like her. Still, he felt guilt, more than anything else...
"Lucrecia, I..." he stopped, unsure of what to say. Sorry? That wouldn't be enough.

Lucrecia looked over the arm Vincent had mentioned. He was right, there would be no way to tell what was bothering him until he awoke. "Yes..I can only think he could of sprained it, As I have not seen any hint of blood on him." She felt as though even her knowledge of the simple things slipped away. She should have been able to spot what was wrong with him, of all people.
Turning away from the sleeping Cloud, her eyes came to meet with Vincent's own for just a moment before he had looked away again. Though this time for her, it seemed he had a much better reason to look away when she saw who his attention was set upon. Little Kaia. It was just heart warming to see how gentle he was with her. Vincent..would always be himself, no matter what.
"She is a handful." She broke into a smile, though even she was having a hard time to think of the right words to say to him. They both carried such horrible memories with them, such grief that would probably stay with them forever..
This time, she walked over to him, the only sound was the light clicks of her heeled shoes against the wooden floor. Before she knew it, she had rested a hand gently upon his clawed arm. Her gaze slowly meeting to his own crimson red orbs. She could see the man still carried so many burdens with him, as did she. They were both so worried about the other, without even knowing it. She tried to find words to say, she had to say something.. anything..
"Vincent...I...I missed you..I'm so sorry for everything.."

Vincent cringed slightly, when she touched his claw, not to pull away, but for the shame of even having anything other than normal hands. He didn't pull away, no matter how much he wanted to, instead returning her gaze. Where his words failed, she spoke what he should have said.
"No. You have nothing to be ashamed of. I failed, not you. I am the one who should have suffered, not you."
Despite the way he wanted to pull away from her, Vincent found himself bringing his unclawed hand up to lightly touch her cheek. Internally he told himself that he didn't deserve a moment of her touch, nor the loving gaze that she graced him with. Everything in his mind told him to get away from her, to only guard her without emotion. Yet he couldn't pull away, not when she was so close, he could almost...
He finally noticed that he had been leaning closer this whole time, stopping just before his lips brushed hers. Everything in him screamed for him to pull away.
He couldn't.
But he couldn't continue either, trapped in that burning moment before a passionate kiss, he remained frozen,"My sins are too great to have you. Please, do not blame yourself for me."

The women never took her hand off the clawed hand, she wanted him to see she had no fear of it, and most certanly didn't want him to think she was ashamed of it.
"Vincent...You where the only person..The only one who stood up for me, even after all the things I had done. You even tried to stop us..." As she spoke, her free hand reached over to rest upon his clawed hand, taking hold of it gently and bringing it up close as though she were hugging it. "After all that I had done, You still tried you're best to stand up for us.. How can you blame you're self? You failed no one, Vincent.. I couldn't bare to see you suffering. Please don't sa--
Her worlds were brought to a stop as she felt the gentle touch of his hand upon her cheek. Her deep brown eyes meeting his once more. She was unsure, seeing Vincent so close to her, but she too did not move forward, as if she was afraid to. Not of him, but what might happen. She too, didn't think she could ever diverse him. He had loved her so dearly, he cared for her, and she never as much looked at him to show the love she hid deep inside for him.She always pushed him away. How terrible she was, how could she ever deserve someone like Vincent.
"You're wrong, Vincent. You are the purest of all. " She let go of his claw with one hand, letting it slowly, ever so gently brush raven locks away from his crimson eyes, as her gentle touch rested upon his own cheek. "You have no sins..Please..Forgive you're self. You have never done anything wrong."

"I cannot forgive myself, as long as you think that you are at fault. Even now, you blame yourself for what was never your doing. You did your best to save me, and I foolishly allowed that humanity you tried so hard to preserve, slip away."
He finally found the strength to pull away, though his eyes remained on hers. He was a monster, he had been before he had this body, she just didn't see it. "Lucrecia, you didn't fail. You're standing in you son's home right now. He has a wife and child. I am alive, and any faults that I have are my own. Please give me the burden that you bear, it is my duty to carry it."
Abruptly, he slipped his arms around Lucrecia, putting her into a tight hug. He just wanted to feel her heart beat, to feel her warmth against his own lifeless body. He wanted to take all her pain away, as he always wanted, though he knew that as long as he carried chaos, he couldn't. He never wanted to hurt her again, no matter what, but once slip could end her life. As quickly as he had pulled Lucrecia into the embrace, he released her and stepped back away from her, remaining silent.
