((Jeffery doesn't necessarily have anything better to do, I think it all boils down to whether he wants to get involved or not.))
Jeffery considered for a moment. "Well, I can help you guys get the kids. Bein a teacher might help you all argue your case."

((Just wanted to make sure we weren't trying to make you not do what you were planning on.))
Rook nodded. "Thanks, Jeffery."

Revan Maxwell Tyson released the woman's arm and sat back in the booth. He swallowed hard before answering, "He washed up on the shore. He was shot in the chest, I think. The letter was sticking out of his pocket and..." He took a short, almost unnoticeable pause. He couldn't say he just took the letter and pushed the body back out to sea. "I grabbed the letter before the sea took the body again."
Tyson put the letter on the table and stared at it. "I read the letter. I figured it was all mob type stuff. I mean, seriously, I'm just a street bum. but the way everything is worded. The blues, a psychic.... I don't know what this all means, but I'm very sure that this has to do with the strange things people are starting to be able to do." He didn't want to straight up say he had powers, granted, he still felt like he was in the middle of some weird gang movie, but that was honestly what this was about. besides, it wasn't like anyone but her would be able to hear his toneless whispering voice. It didn't carry far.
"I'm not sure who the letter was for, but this feels big. And, somehow, I just know that this has something to do with how I'm able to speak. I wasn't kidding before. I'm really mute." The woman took the letter as he set it on the table, running a finger along the edge of it. She looked a little lost before opening it up, and quietly took her time as she read it. It was clear she'd been close to the dead man in some way, though she attempted to hide the evidence of it. When she finished reading it, she placed it in the pocket of her uniform. "Wait here. I will bring you some dumplings, and then we can talk. I will alert my father. He will want to know of you also."

Grinning madly, Maya whipped a bolt out of her coat and set it on the rack. " 'Aight, teach. Whats the plan?" The bolt on the crossbow whooped and hollered, eager to fly. The crossbow, however, was not as thrilled at the situation. Maya pulled a black rag bearing an emblem of a white circle with a stylized sillouette of a mouse sitting up in the middle and tied it around her forehead. "I'm ready for the big ride, baby!"

Tyson nodded at the girl's request and sat back in the chair. As she scurried away from the table, he sighed to himself, feeling like such a jerk for what he had done to the man's body before coming here. He was obviously something to her, how much of a something didn't really matter. Even when his mind tried to justify the who situation by thinking on what would have happened if the police had gotten to it first, the mess these people would have gotten in, he still felt like a true scumbag. To make things worse in his mind, he would have walked out then and there if had not the kind woman offered him food.
How low can I be?

"Aww..." Maya deflated a bit. "Well, I guess I'll be backup then." She disassembled the crossbow and placed the pieces back into her coat. "I'm staying with you though, Rook. I can hear the things that you can't and you'll need me. Guarentee it." She nodded desiceivly.

I'm just not sure we'll need you for violence."

Maya picked her head up and seemed to buoy a bit at Rook's assurance of her value. She was less dissapointed that she wouldn't get to fight, but it wasn't a terrible thing. "It's probably safer that way," she added, though mostly to herself.

How low can I be? It took about ten minutes. The restaurant seeming to function fairly normaly, as customers walked in and out, and a different waitress took orders. She gave Tyson an odd look as she'd pass him by but said nothing, and otherwise gave no sign that she had a clue of the situation. Eventually the first waitress walked back in, carrying a tray with some dumplings and rice, which she placed in front of Tyson. She took a seat, setting the letter on the table before leaving it alone. "My father will be out shortly. However, he believes you may be one of the few touched. You were mute, and now you are not. Is there anything else...unusual that has occurred for you in the last year?"

The moment the tray of dumplings hit the table, one of them had already disappeared in his mouth. The whole dumpling. Though he had planned on resisting the urge to scarf down like the dirty street urchin he was, the aroma of the food made it hard for him to not grab ungratefully. He chewed furiously on the morsel and rolled his eyes in ecstasy. he had never had dumplings before in his life but was loving them. His hand shot for another dumpling and he forced it to return to his side. He chewed fast and swallowed hard before speaking his silent "Sorry."
Back in control of himself, though still wanting a dumpling, Tyson looked over the table at the door. his throat was starting to tingle from him forcing it to make sounds and felt a bit safer showing the woman his power in action.
A patron walked in, and with him came the rushing exchange of air that occurs when it's cold in one place and warm in another. As the door first cracked open, Tyson took in a long breath and then held it until the door closed again. Then, using his fingers, steered the air close to the ceiling down past the the woman's arm and then made it spin around the the bowl. for a few seconds the bowl did nothing, but finally it started to spin slowly. he made the bowl spin almost one complete time before he had to let his breath out. The air around the bowl dispersed from all sides, making it feel like someone had just opened a window from the booth to the woman.
Tyson grabbed his neck and rubbed it to indicate that talking was beginning to hurt his throat, but stated quickly, "I can control moving air. I can gather it when I breath in, and launch it as I breath out if I choose. The air has to be moving for me to control it, and i have to breath in if i want to change it's speed." He paused. "That's it."

"Is... is that a crossbow?" Jeffery asked, eye raised rather high as she folded it back up. "Why do you keep a crossbow on you?"

"Same reason we keep guns and knives." He replied, turning to Maya again, "Yeah, it's gonna be safer... But we're dealing with kids. We don't want them to see us the first time... In a duel to the death with the Keepers. It might turn them off to us, and either into the arms of the Keepers, or to struggle on their own. That's even worse."

"Actually...No wait. You're right. The Keepers probably spin honeyed lies and feed them to the kids to get 'em on their sides. We would be looking like bad guys if we fought them. Bastards." She almost spit on the ground, but checked herself. It wouldn't be kind to Jeffery to spit on his floor.

((Marcus is the owner, sorry to be your censor.)) Marcus spoke up, at that, nodding. "It's a common act... You sit idle, and let the other faction cross the same lines you have been, only you don't tip your hand, and they do. Both of you are wrong, but you like better doing it."
