"Whatever you say I'll stand by you in your decision," Elistral said and stood up straight. Her forehead creased when she heard what Jake said about Strider, and she wished that he was alive too. "I don't know if he did. This is the first time I've known him as someone else than a distant friend." She ran a hand through her hair uncharacteristically and let out a breath, continuing. "From what I know of what my mother told me, my father, Strider, was a bard, he never stayed in one place too long. Maybe it was because he loved to travel, or just tell stories, though now I know partly why. I never saw him too often, he only stayed for a month or two, then went off for a year or two." She paused and put a hand in her pocket, bringing out her brooch and looking at it sadly now. "I don't remember it much, my memory's all fuzzy for the first 12 years of my life for some reason, but I have clear memories after. I know that he gave this to me sometime when he came home, and then I never saw him again. Years later though, maybe 10 or 20,..." She broke off, swallowing past a lump in her throat, thinking whether to tell them or not. She took a breath, and concentrated on the brooch. "...I was travelling myself then, never staying in a town for more than a few days. Often I came back to my old home, to see my mother. One day though, there was, a raid in the small village I lived in." She shook her head, remembering vividly. "Mainly drow, and demons also, attacked the village. I was on a hill a little bit away, so I saw the whole thing. As soon as smoke began to rise, I ran to the village to help. I was just outside, close enough to see the destruction, but I something stopped me from going any further. Fire consumed the buildings, I saw dead and dying friends in the fray, and--" She cut off, closing her eyes. She'd never told anyone before, and she was unsure of whether to go on, especially since nobody had asked her to tell them about it. Many times she had dreams about it, even though it was possibly a century ago, it all came back to her.
Rore gave another sigh, at the whole situation this time. He looked down at his sword, scowling to himself. He thought he'd left his old life behind, and started a new one with his wife in a different place. That had lasted about maybe 8 years since his daughter was born. But atleast now this wasn't how he'd thought his peaceful life would end if it ever came to that. He'd thought something else would happen, but this was almost the same. He leaned his head back and let out a frustrated sigh, wondering what to do next.

-Jake looked at Elistral for a moment- "Fuzzy? For 12 years its fuzzy? No way. Could it really be that simple?" -Jake got up and went to Elistral examineing her head- "Could he really have used something so simple to dispell?" -Jake touched his hands to the sides of Elistrals head on her temples- "Everyone close your eyes if im right it may be a big flash." -Jake chanted something and a bright light came from his hands and into Elistrals head. Then it was gone- "There now what can you remember? You may want to sit down." -Jake sits Elistral down-

((Should I end this RP and start a "kind of" sequel to it? Salim's 'technically' destroyed now, and the next place is Silver City right?))
Verin blinked owlishly after lowering his hand from his eyes. He'd turned to look at the wrong time, but was able to block the glare in time. "Can I go home now?" He muttered to himself, then was surprised at his whiny tone.
Elistral placed a cool hand on her forehead, feeling a little woozy. "I'm not sure." She said, shaking her head lightly. Her head throbbed painfully, causing her to wince. The headache felt worse, and if anything happened, she didn't know what it was. Thinking hurt now, the memories were harder to bring up. "Maybe I should rest first." She felt immensely tired suddenly, blinking sleepily. "Whatever you did, it could have worked. I can't tell right now. I haven't slept for a while, and only for a few hours when I did last." She forced back a yawn, and moved her hand to her temple, rubbing it slowly. "Is there anywhere I can rest?"
A few hours had passed, a cool dusk starting to settle over the plains (I never explained the area around Salim). They'd been marching hard for hours, leaving the ruins of the town behind them. Some of the Ravagers were complaining or lagging behind, unused to walking for a long time. Crow ordered them to make a small camp, no fires since there was no wood to be found, the nearest tree still miles away plus with grass everywhere it wouldn't be smart, and no tents or blankets. A lot were grateful, falling asleep as soon as they laid down, but many murmured colorful remarks as they sat. Crow sat away from the group, pulling his cloak closer to his body and staring upwards at the darkening sky. He wondered what Mal was doing, especially since he'd apparently left him in charge of the Ravagers.
The problem with having the only remaining house left in the town, or ruins, Rore thought ironically, was that even though he knew that he'd be letting the survivors stay, and welcomed that, they needed to eat. He had given them, about 30 of the whole population, all the food he'd had in his house. And all of the food he'd had for years was gone. So now he was tramping through the forest about east of the town, he lived on the west side, and looking for any deer that might stumble across his path. By sunset, he'd abandoned trying to find any animals and was now returning with an armful of sticks and a couple logs, sword strapped comfortably by his hip. He walked out of the forest and through the town, but stopped in what was left of the town square. He sat down in front of the ruined fountain, placing the lumber down and leaning his back against the fountain's outer base. He looked at the warped bell laying a few feet away from him, shining dully in the fading sunlight. "What now?" He asked himself, truly meaning it and glancing down at his sword's pommel.

((well yes but by the time this RP is over Salim shall be rebuilt so why not just continue?)) -Out of nowhere a figure appeared infront of Rore. It was the spirit of Strider- "You must lead the people Rore of Salim. You must lead the survivors of this travesty to safety for soon no land shall be safe. I have choosen you for this task because as of right now there are few others that could and they themselves have their own hardships ahead. But you must survive Rore and you must also save other survivors and go to a land in the south there you shall find a man named Gelgas and he shall tell you your next task. Fight hard Rore and keep the survivors safe for the very world may deepend upon it." -With that Strider's spirit dissappeared-
-Jake took Elistral to where Strider took Jake to see Kain's body- "Here lie down." -Jake exited the room and sighed- "Im afraid you have no home to return to Verin. By now it would have been reduced to ruin like the rest of the city of Salim. But don't worry we'll rebuild it after this is all done. I promise."
-Mal was sitting in a tree letting one leg dangle as he thought about his plans and his goals- "Rorak." -A man dressed in black appeared: "Yes Master?"- "Send word to Crow that he is to destroy all outlineing villages around Silver City then the attack begins." -"As you commad." The man dissappeared-

((Yah. So, eventually, we'll both be playing multiple characters since we're the only two really continuing this?)) Rore rubbed his eyes, thinking he was tired. But as the spirit talked, he realized that it wasn't an illusion. When it disappeared, the stars were already beginning to shine above, and he remembered about the firewood when the chill set. He stood up and stretched, bending down to pick up the wood. He took a deep breath of the night air, heading to his home. His foot kicked something heavy, and he looked down to see what it was. Th corner of a book peeked out from a cobblestone, and he stared at it wonderingly before picking it up and putting it into his pocket as an afterthought. Trudging up the hill's path, he watched the survivors using extra blankets as pillows and sheets before settling down, leaning against the house's walls. A girl took the wood from his arms and went off to fuel the fire in the fireplace. Plopping down in a chair and taking scrolls out of a close dresser, he unrolled maps and notes. He briefly thought of his family, who he'd sent out while Salim was attacked; his best friend Gorash, who he hadn't heard from in years; and other things, like the man named Gelgas to the south and how he was going to do everything else. Rore sighed hopelessly, and the retired knight knew that somehow he'd have to fight again after all those years.
Elistral nodded her thanks and glanced around the room. Finding it fairly small, she went to the middle of the room, sitting down and leaning her back against the stone table. Unfastening her cloak, she held it in her hands and sat doing nothing for a brief moment. Her head pounded painfully and she folded her cloak into a makeshift pillow. Laying down, Elistral set her head on the cloth, her hand underneath still holding her brooch. Her eyes drifted shut, and she slid into a welcome sleep.
Verin spun away suddenly, feeling anger rise. "I know! It's probably gone anyway!" He stormed over to a wall, kicking it hard. "I have nothing left now! First my parents, then my foster parents most likely, and now my home!" He looked down at his father's watch, the only thing he had of value. The feeling of sadness lasted only a second before he slammed his fist against the stone, bruising his knuckles. "Can't I just go back, even to nothing? That Rore guy's still there, right? And besides, I can't do anything to begin with! I'm just a human, not an elf, or god, or dog-demon!" He ranted venomously, shaking his head back and forth, furious now.
Crow rolled his shoulder, causing the bird on it to hop to the ground. He raised his eyes to the sky, ignoring the crow's words of annoyance. The stars seemed cold tonight, shining brightly above the world below. His thoughts turned to the heavens, and eventually lead to his early priesthood. What would have happened if he had went through with it?, he wondered. His life would be different, maybe filled with light instead of darkness. He scowled, dismissing the probabilities of that and forsaking his true heritage like his mother and father. It was better this way, and Crow cursed his parents for even wanting to live in peace with humans. His expression turned cold, like the stars in the dark sky.

((pretty much but if we started a new one nothing would happen with it because everyones so busy with school they won't want to join =/)) -Strider's Spirit then appeared before Crow. It was as if no one else saw him- "Hello Crow. You were once a person who was shrouded by the light but now you are consumed in darkness. Well I have come to tell you that the light is calling you again Crow. Can't you hear it? All around you voices are calling to you. Voices from the light of the stars themselves. You aren't evil Crow you've just allowed yourself to follow it. You know that this is wrong and that Mal is wrong. Come back to the light Crow. What say you?"
-Jake sighed- "Your wrong Verin. Strider chose you among so many others. Why? Because he saw in you something no one else saw. Until now." -Jake shot lightning at Verin but before it hit the lightning was redirected to Verin's watch then shot directly back. Jake absorbed the lightning back into his hand- "Just as I thought. That watch is no normal watch. It redirects any magical attack back towards the one who cast it. See you can do something."

((True, that's a problem, I was thinking about making a new RP, too. =( I have Fall Break coming up this weekend though, so that makes me happy!)) Crow looked down from the sky to Strider's spirit, noting that the bird in front of him wasn't paying attention. It was still yammering on about something. He told it to fly around a bit, not wanting its company. When it left, he stared at Strider for a few moments. "Follow the path of light once again?" He repeated, thinking deeply. "Why should I? There's nothing about it that even draws me to it anymore." He shrugged, frowning a little. "Look at me, surely you can see that I'm a monster to begin with. This human appearance means nothing, and I doubt that any humans themselves would want to be around. The thought of it now, a demon as a holy priest." He let out a short laugh. "I'd be no different than my parents."
Verin rubbed the watch, expecting it to do something more. It looked normal now, nothing odd about it. "Pfft, it's just a watch. It doesn't do anything...Besides that, of course. I told you, I'm normal."

"You underestimate yourself Crow. The row I met in the monistary was a gentle person who was passionate about everything he did. You are no monster your just a demon forced to put on the mask of a monster. Who you are isn't defined by what you are. Who you are is defined by the kind of person you are and the character you show and you Crow show great skill and leadership in everything you do. As for something drawing you to the light you say? Well thats for you to decide but I tell you now that an age of humanity is about to dawn on this world and weither you help the cause or not is unimportant but all I know is that it would speed things up. In your heart you know its wrong don't you?......Well anyway you shall be given a choice in the future and weither you make your dicision as an obedient soilder or a leader is up to you. I just hope you make the right decision." -With that Strider dissappears leaveing Crow to reflect. Then Rorak appeared and handed Crow written orders to destroy all villages in the out lineing regions of Silver city and cut off all roads. Kill the innocent and young alike-
"No don't you see that beauty of it you cant be harmed by any magical effect at all. Your basically one giant magical lightning rod. Watch." -Jake pointed his hand up and sot lightning but it curved and went to the watch then was sent back a Jake who caught it- "See it doesn't matter that your normal just that you have something no-so-normal." -Jake smiled and went over to Verin and patted his head-

((Is the time in the room different form everything else or...? Oh, I might add another charrie, is that okay?)) Crow stood up and read the note in the dim light. He glanced up at the Ravagers, lying around and most sleeping. Tired men, and women, would be no use to him now. Better to wait before dawn, then move out. He crumpled the note into a small ball, tossing it up and catching it. He remembered Strider's words, pushing away the rising anger. The mask of a monster, huh? Well, it was a mask he wore well then. The crow had finished flying and fluttered to his shoulder, cocking its head at the paper ball. "Rorak, what kind of man do you think Mal's brother was?" He asked, staring ahead.
"Fine, whatever you say." Verin studied the watch again, still doubting. Where had his father gotten it? He ignored the question like he normally did, not really curious. He felt Jake pat his head but made no move to stop him. "Lightning rod, huh? Fat lot of luck it does me if I'm set on fire." He said huffily.
Rore's head slipped from his hands, hitting the table with a small thunk. He gave a low groan so that he wouldn't wake the others, but he wasn't hurt at all. Sketches of maps on papers were scattered on the table, mini versions of the one in front of him. Dark lines led from the dot that marked Salim through the plains or the forest, all crossed out. Large X's ran through the side notes he'd made and filled the sheets. Anyway he tried it, any route he tried, didn't seem to work. But he couldn't leave the towns people here alone or bring them with him, they'd just slow his progress. He remembered that one of them, before falling asleep, had mentioned that the "Protectors" were there to help. Maybe he'd leave the survivors here with the Protectors guarding them, they'd be able to hunt for food and get water from the well. Then he'd be free to find Gelgas in the south. Yes, that would be what he would do. He smiled and laid his head on his arms, shutting his eyes and falling asleep.
Elistral muttered random words and shook her head in her sleep. Fluffy clouds and warm feelings came to her in her dream. Green trees were below her feet, and streaks of blue could be seen from her floating height. Now she was halfway up a mountain, looking down at boulders strewn around here and there. She shifted a bit and started to curl her knees close to her body. Mumbling a little, she became still and breathed in and out slowly.

-Rorak looked at Crow strangely- "Well from what I know Strider has been here longer then Sir Mal has been. He's been going from place to place saveing humans, demons, and elfs alike. People would say it was almost as if he knew what was going to happen and just before bad things happened he would appear and save everyone. I also know that he has suffered like you or I could never comprehend. He has died, lost loved ones, gone insane, tried to kill himself, etc. It was also said in an old story that Strider used to be evil himself. Killing innocent women and children. He is good now though he did those things. Why do you ask? If you don't mind Sir Crow."
-Strider appeared in Elistrals dream- "Hello my child. You have unlocked the memories I suppresed in you which is why I am here. It is time to accept your true destiny. You are my daughter therefore you have my power. Now is the time to use it or you will never be able to defeat Mal. Though I warn you once you choose this path you will never be able to go back to a mortal life. You will become an immortal like I was. You do not have to make your choice now and the power won't manifest until you accept it. Remember You are my daughter and I know you shall make the right disicion. Goodbye my daughter. Fight well." -Strider dissappeared-

((Gah, ignored. I'll take that as a yes anyway.)) Crow glanced at Rorak, surprised at his expression. He looked down at the wad of paper in his hand, thinking. "I'm not sure what made me ask that." He brought his gaze up to rest over the plains around them. "Maybe it was my curiosity, about this whole thing. I was just speaking to him, a few seconds before you appeared. It came to me now, that if Mal was so different from Strider, then how so? If Mal is ultimately evil, then what made his brother seem so noble to fight against him?" He shrugged, wanting to go on but not sure how to. The bird on his shoulder was becoming agitated, squawking about wasting time. Crow wondered if the Ravagers were fully rested, but he would wait a few more minutes before waking them to march. "I guess they're not so different after all." He said, changing his mind and making a raspy noise. The crow gave a happy caw and flew off to the nearest Ravager, beating him with its wings to wake him. The Ravager cursed and effectively woke others around him. Crow nodded forward when he noticed him, implying to get up and start marching.
Elistral was pulled haltingly from her dream, blinking her eyes slowly. She pushed herself into sitting position, wiping a hand across her eyes, not having to wonder how tears came to them. Leaning her head up against the stone behind her reminded her of where she was. All her early memories had come back to her, giving her the feeling of loneliness and questions. Why had her memory been suppressed? Why had every beings' of the world memories been locked away as well? Something must of happened, but she'd figure it out later. Now she was left with the cold finality of Strider's death, that he was really gone. She'd known it immediately, but she hadn't wanted to admit it to herself. She thought about her dream too, and what her decision would be. If this proved to be too much, she could always deny her heritage if she wanted to. Shaking her head, Elistral picked her folded cloak up, and fixed her brooch to her jacket on the left side. She'd killed people before, for self-defense and for others in need, even to end the suffering of one of her friends. That was the way of life though, leaving her without her friends or family to go on. Well, not all her family. No matter what she did, her path for the future had always been vague if not clear. Taking a deep breath she stood up and walked forward, opening the door, one hand holding her cloak and the other on her sword's hilt. She knew what she had to do, it rested on shoulders like a sudden weight.
A hand touched the great bell's cool metal surface in Salim. The once smooth and rounded thing was now warped from the earlier fires' heat. The tower itself was collapsed as well, as was most of the buildings. The man sighed, shaking his head sadly, shaggy black hair moving back and forth. He wore a black tailcoat with the loose ends sewn together, a snowy white shirt, a red tie, black pants, and shoes. To top it off, he wore a hat that matched his odd clothes, a satin ribbon shining from the stars' light. All in all, he looked exactly like a gentleman from the 1800's from a completely different place. The only thing that gave him away really was his feral yellow eyes, ears that were slightly pointed, and sharpish fangs that sometimes showed when he spoke. "You did your part, my friend." He said, laughing slightly at himself for speaking to an inanimate object. Taking his hand away, he reached in a pocket and took out a gold pocket watch, flipping it open. He stared at the Roman numerals for a minute, then snapped it closed. "Hm, maybe I'll go and check on somebody..." He seemed to vanish into thin air, reappearing a foot or two behind Mal.

It's obvious your not from around here." -Mal turned to face the strange man-
-Jake turned as Elistral exited her room- "So remember anything?"

((It's ok, I tend to overdo things anyway. I think football season down here is almost over so my brother won't be marching as much himself. I hope you have fun marching though! ^^))
"An impressive show of power," The man said, his eyes flicking from each of the individuals' faces before stopping at Mal. "You should always have friends to back up your actions. But that's beside the fact. You may call me Fenrir, my name's too long for anything else." Fenrir tipped his hat at Mal before taking it off and fiddling with it. "Yes, I'm not from here. Maybe from a different place, but definitely not here. As for who I am, I'm just an observer. I came to see how you were progressing, Mal."
Elistral nodded, stopping in front of Jake and Verin. "Enough for now. I'd love to see everything I know," she shook her head, rubbing a finger to her temple again. She was glad that her previous headache didn't bother her as much, though it was still there. "But I can't right now."

-Jake looked at Elistral strangely. For a second she almost looked like Strider. She looked like someone on a mission- "Is everything ok? You seem different."
