Jake went up on one knee and blocked the rock with his left arm, wishing he hadn't after. Then he threw his rock and successfully hit Strider on the shoulder, causing him to rub at the spot painfully. "Hah!"

"Gah! Come here you!" Strider grabbed Jake by the scruff of his neck like a small puppy and teleported him and Jake back to where they were. He dropped Jake down on top of the rock he was aiming for.

Jake sat on the rock, looking innocently up at Strider, wagging his tail. "Sorry for actually hitting you...My aim isn't all that good to begin with." He apologized a little sheepishly, and looked around at the surroundings they'd left for the rock turtle's home.

"It's ok. Now let's see you try to teleport without my assistance shall we? Teleport yourself beside the rock your sitting on." Strider stepped back and put his hands behind his back.

Jake nodded and stood, rubbing his tail where he'd landed on it painfully. He closed his eyes and thought of the flower he'd seen at the side of the rock they were standing on. First he felt nothing, then he felt himself sliding down the side of the rock. "This time I did it!" He exclaimed, opening his eyes while he stopped himself from tumbling, but not before he got a mouthful of dirt in the process.

"No but you did do a good job of lifting one side of that rock." Strider laughed. "Come on give it one more try." Strider was truely glad he had chose Jake as his apprentice. Maybe they could keep each other company. Strider always remembered wandering the surface of Earth and his home for thousands of years all alone. A wanderer of time. He had picked up more then his fair share of nick names; Strider, Red Pilgram, Red Wolf, The Savior, God of Magic, etc. A timeless hero and the last of his kind. Whereas this boy was a boy who had been living with his sister since he was young and has been living on Earth until his body was taken from him and when he gained his body his sister was taken from him left alone in a body made to live forever. They were two of a kind. Lost souls left in the cold.

Jake sputtered and spat out the dirt, picking up a worm. "But I did slide down it...That should count atleast for something..." He made a disgusted face and set the worm back down in the dirt, patting some over it. His sister always said that it was better to put things back where they came from if you didn't like them, instead of killing them. "After all, if you were picked up by a weird little boy, you'd want to go back home too, right?" To which he'd chase after her, brandishing a twig like a weapon while she laughed. "Fine, I'll try again. This is harder than I thought..." He said and scrambled back up the rock to retry. He closed his eyes, and when he opened them, he was less than a foot on the ground away from the rock.

Strider clapped. "Good job. You did it. Now try something a bit harder. I'll let you choose this time just think of where you want to go and go to it. I'll follow you there."

Jake's ears lowered a few fractions and he frowned a little. I have to choose a place now? But, I just got here! He shook his head back and forth, then looked up to find a nice place to go to. A glint of water showed about 2 miles away, probably a lake or something. He set his mouth into a line and nodded, figuring that if he didn't make it there, he'd atleast make it partway. Standing around and wondering didn't get you anywhere in life. He pointed at the spot he'd set, and said to Strider. "I'm going to try over there then." Then he closed his eyes and thought of the lake-thing.

"As you wish." Strider sat back and watched Jake begin to concentrate. "Be sure you know what your going to teleport to. Are you sure of what your teleporting to?"

"Um...Yeah." Jake replied after a brief moment's hesitation. Then thought of the water again, and when he opened his eyes, saw he'd gotten most of the way there. He needed more practice, but this was a better try than last time. Turning and waving to Strider, he decided to go check out what had indeed been a smallish pond.

Strider smiled. "Good job. Come on let's go take a break. It's getting a little to hot out for practice." Strider waved for him to teleport over.

"Exactly. The better reason to go swimming, then!" Jake called back, still walking. The water was about 8 feet deep, clear, and cold. "C'mon. It's perfect!"
