I'm still for the Celebrations theme.
>>
<<
-as if you all don't know-

But I wanted to throw out another idea. What about a Horror Themed Ball? You know, with different 'monsters' or scary stories behind each thread. I notice that a lot of people seem to be into that now. I see a potential problem, but I felt like I should throw it out there anyway. People might not like it because it's so dark.

So what about a Mythical Creatures theme. It would include the spooky stuff, but also have faeries and elves and pretty prancy unicorns that skip over rainbows...

<<
So Angel's six years old at heart!
TT
What of it?

Anyway.
Each species could throw their own party.
And we could party wiff them.
If you all really have your heart set on a game,
The different creatures could be having a race to find some valuable object.
Like a crown or jewel or something.
That would give them so special power.
Like being overlord of the entire universe.
Or something.
Or a cookie.
That would work too.

-needs sleep-

Uh oh, if you're 6.. I might be 5. :O I eat that stuff up. lol. <3 Mythical creatures and horror elements always seem to play a part in my imagination. And you're right about basing an entire ball around horror.. it'd be too grim and dark, but.. can we say a sweet halloween event? biggrin (its my favorite holiday of the year).. ^^

And I don't know how to set up the main premise around mythical creatures-- I normally have them as support.. but if you can elaborate on how to go about basing the ball around it I'd love to hear it more in depth to trigger my wheels.

I'll give it some thought.
^^
If anyone else has any suggestions for it...
Please feel free!
<3
Otherwise, I'm still all excited about the Celebrations idea.

I think I like the ideas that encompass a ton of ideas all in one as opposed to the individual ideas themselves.
So my ideas aren't my favorite.

All right. I understand more now. Yes, despite my previous thoughts, the thread a day is becoming more interesting. I think that this is still a bit too complicated. I think we are adding waaaay too much into one idea. Labrynth, awesome back bone. Thread a day, plays it out better. Game board, adding a bit too much. Country-themed labrynths (I don't think I am spelling that right) just adding more for no reason. Yes, I am a fan of all of these ideas (Thread a Day is growing on me), but when together, I would have no idea what to focus on.

People certainly want freedom in the ball and make themselves feel important. We have given them the plot, the setting, the atmosphere, and they're are glad to step in. With this, we are practically playing them. Too much structure is going to complicate things. Yes, it is good to push people along, but not when you are practically controlling them.

sweatdrop I guess I should commpliment Envy also. You are bringing a lot to the plate and incorporating everything. Your ideas are good. I hope (again) I am not looking like a hater.

Does this qualify as a wall of text? It will be my first time doing it.... Nothing special has reallly happened. xp

My take on the whole labrynth would be that we have our main ball on ground level. The Labrynth King has opened up his dungeon for any person to search for his hidden treasures. Two people step up to the plate to lead two seperate expenditions to find The Labrynth King's special treasure or something. From there, we can do thread-a-day (Fine, I accept it) on the two seperate teams, but keeping a ground leveled ball thread that would be up all the time. Maybe the dungeon has magical transporting powers... Instead of doing just one winning banner, we can make seperate banners for the two teams, and another banner for the winning team. NPCs of course can help guide the way, and indivual rooms can be themed (countries if we must). At the end or last day, we can hold our ball finally at the end of the labrynth with a room or something.

lol.. now I want the labyrinth to be encompass those mythical creature themes instead of around the world. haha.

I don't think we are adding too much (especially when nothing is set in stone) -- picture a fruit bowl.. it has bananas, oranges, apples, grapes, etc.. apples and oranges taste so very differently, but when you arrange them in such a way the various colors compliment each other and the fruit bowl is a lot more intriguing than just having a bag of apples. What makes it work is because they're primarily fruit-- but some people even add nuts and even personal touches to give it more zazz.

Its just a matter of how you wrap the various concepts together.

As for the freedom factor. I've always been a fan of free form RP. The trick and often the challenge is ensuring that the structure is in the right places. But, I've always found myself slightly annoyed in some free form RPs where one person sees the sky as day and the other sees it as night. It cannot be day and night if these characters are standing side by side! Our goal would only be in painting the scene and set the tone-- creating an objective, and directing the plot to lead to said objective. We cannot control how the players interact and react-- nor should we. But we have to have enough structure to where we don't have martians right along side of cowboys and indians unless there is a very, very good reason to make that practical....

Maybe each separate 'room' in the labyrinth could lead to a location with a mythical creature? -goes to research-

My list would be: (this will NOT become a topic. I am done with the lists ><)
Phoenix
Centaur
Dragon
Nymph
Griffin
Vampire (nonsparkly or Lectern will explode)
Hydra
Werewolves
Minataur
Kappa (Hmm... We can do dungeon themed monsters of the world!)
Lochness Monster (a hydra, but it gives it more the european feel)
Mermaids (Atlantis is a country too....)
....and more.

-OCD takes over-

It's Griffin. And we have to include the hydra! And the minotaur. And I was thinking more evil-ish monsters?

I see what you both mean.

And I do agree with what Lectern. Countries + Labyrinth might seem a bit random to mix. Though I'm sure with Envy's creative mind we could pull it off somehow! But the mythical creatures + labyrinth makes more sense and would be a good combo, like Envy talked about.

LECTERN!

You left out vampires~

Lol, vampires might be slightly cliched.... Especially if they sparkle.

I got those three... But how more evil-ish. Kidnapping children in the night? I added the Kappa which is a japanese water demon that pulls you into a body of water that it resides in. (and yes, it is the plush my avatar is holding.)

-dissaproves-
Vampires are not cliche!
Don't blame them for their fangirls~
Hence why I say they should only sparkle when the spill glitter on themselves.

Hmmm. Maybe we could do riddles or a form of Choose Your Own Adventure. Maybe for each creature room, we attempt to calm down/defeat the creatures. Such as crosses and garlic for the vampires, swords and shields to battle the dragons, cucumbers for Kappas. Scientific research and photography for the Lochness Monster (XD)
