Kim had never actually drank anything in her life, to be truthful... but now seemed like a damn good time to start. Somewhat carefully. Since ending up passed out on the floor (for various reasons) wasn't exactly the plan of the evening.

The other reason for the pterodactyl girl's presence at the beach bar was more subtile, and rose from the reptile's instincts. And that reason was sociability - people hung out in bars, yes ? Both sides needed social interaction and needed it NOW.

The sound of someone rummaging behind the counter was the first thing that caught her attention, and she found herself peeking over, trying to keep the webbing out of the way. "Need any help here ?"

She hadn't quite spotted Pyroth yet.

Pyroth didn't immediately recognise the voice but spoke up "Yes actually, could you put that ice bucket up there onto the main bar if you'd be so kind?" he hopped up onto his hind legs, leaning on the counter with his paws to see who he was talking to, it took him some moments but his brain eventually turned up Kim on the list of islanders he could recall with that specific scent and appearance. He grinned, wagging his tail. "Oh and long time no see." he didn't comment on her progressed transformation, not wanting to turn the mood negative by doing so.

He dropped back down onto four legs and trotted busily around to the bar, hopping back up to sit on the stool in front of his Jack Daniels. "The things I have to end up doing just to get a drink. Bottles are totally useless." he smirked, shaking his head.

Likewise, Kim was pretty confused at first, both by the nagging feeling that she had met him before, and by how animalistic the man - well, the voice was male - and familiar, damn it ! - looked. Was it how far they all got ?

Ah, at least she wasn't completely braindead, and they had indeed met before. Deciding to likewise not comment (even if her raised eyebrow would probably have done so sightly), she leant over the counter to hook the bucket to one of the webbed fingers and bring it up. The fingers where much stronger than they used to be, and could be handy sometimes. Almost. Really.

"Yeah, it's been." She still didn't quite place him, but it had to be a long time ago if she couldn't. "And yeah, I bet..." She let the bucket slide on the counter than withdrew her finger from it. "It's feeling wierd to be there for some reason. I never drank any alchool before." She gave a small laugh. "A start for everything, uh ?"
PostPosted: Thu Aug 31, 2006 6:24 pm

Pyroth was impressed by how strong Kim's seemingly fragile fingers were as she picked up the bucket, they were unusual looking and he still wasn't sure what manner of creature would have digits like that, even the bats on the island didn't seem to have that kind of build in their hands.

Pyroth picked up the bottle in his teeth and emptied it carefully into the bucket in front of him, putting it back down on the counter when it was empty. He blinked in surprise at Kim. "Never drank alcohol before? Ah well you've been missing out on one of life's great escape route. Nothing makes a terrible day tolerable than a light mental haze, the kind only alcohol can give."

He swished his tail, ducking his head into the bucket to lap some of the whiskey, only a small amount, then sat back, licking his lips. It always tasted stronger these days, he had to be incredibly careful how much he drank in case he ended up as sick as he often did since hitting his full transformation. "Jack Daniels is the best alcohol though, granted though that if it's your first taste of alcohol you might want to start low-content rather than hard liquor." he waved a paw dismissively. "S'up to you though."

He tilted his head slightly "So how've you been? Don't think I've seen you since what, Colche's birthday?"

"I've never really had a need to before." She said, leaning on the counter as she watched Pyroth empty the bottle. In most people's vision, you have have had massive reasons, but it had never really came to her. "And I guess hanging with a bunch of geeks do that to you." She laughed, peering at the mix list. "Low stuff, you mean something like a Strawberry Daiquiri ?" Kim was more than visibely clueless.

After all, not meeting the floor was the goal. And she had to be careful with her diabetes and alchool. Well, that's what the doctors had said anyway. Not like it really mattered here.

"Yeah, it's been awhile." She shrugged, slowly starting to place him - however she still couldn't find a name. "I... could have been better, really, but eh. There's not much one can do against becoming a dinosaur."
PostPosted: Thu Aug 31, 2006 6:47 pm

"Yeah, I know how it is. I didn't touch the stuff till I was in my late twenties, up till then I just didn't see the point. S'been a while since then though and life tends to push you towards the easy ways out." And really, alcohol had been the least of what Pyroth had dabbled in, he found other things to keep him occupied through his late teens. He smirked "If they gave you no reason to drink then they were probably good for you, granted, based on what I know of geeks, they generally get hooked on other things."

He gestured over to the fridge again "Well there's always alcopops, fizzy rum and such, all pretty low alcohol, taste more like limeade or whatever than anything else."

He was about to ramble on a bit when he blinked "A dinosaur?! They can /do/ that?" Many of the other transformations he had seen had been, in his opinion, pointless, but the idea of a dinosaur being brought back, even in part, was pretty significant. He felt for Kim for having to be the guinea pig for something like that but was still pretty boggled by the idea.

He took another drink of the whiskey before letting out a derisive snort. "Figures, doesn't it. They can splice back the dinosaurs but they couldn't stop my serum from turning me into a ******** /dog/." He shook his head, looking interestedly at Kim again. "Still, that explains the fingers a bit. Flying dinosaur?"

"Ill give a try at one of those then." She glanced at the fridge as well, but did no movement torward it just yet. "And apparently they can." She muttered, sighing. "Prerodactyl. I even got a lecture on how it's a "flying reptile", not a "dinosaur". I swear the b*****d liked ******** with my head."

She finally got up and started shifting into the fridge, coming back with a bottle and taking her spot again. "You mean this was intentional ?" She frowned a bit, visibely a bit annoyed that they could do something like this itentionally. That was just... more shittier than anything else.

"That would be pretty nifty, being able to fly. Maybe then you'd be able to get off of this island, at least for a while. But yeah, I know next to nothing about dinosaurs but I'm pretty damn sure pterodactyl is one of them. Makes you wonder how they did it." Once again he reminded himself how lucky he was to still be a mammal, even if he was very awkward, reptiles got it rough in general he'd heard.

He eyed her changes as she went to the fridge, noting now the similarities to the images he'd seen of the creature in the past.

"Well they were meant to stop all of us at the point where we are still bipedal but have all the animal traits I think. Something must have been up with mine because I stopped being fully able to walk right at the fourth injection. Now it's four legs all the time. Should probably change my name from Pyroth to something like Rover or Fido now I'm stuck like this."

"I don't think I could fly off this place, anyway. They're not stupid enough to give people avian serums without a way to keep them here." She took a sip, then looked down at the bottle to memorize what it was. It did taste pretty good. "I have no idea and I have no intention to ring Moreau again to figure it out." She gave a small snort. "Made me look enough of an idiot the first time."

"That sucks, im sorry." But hey, she had a name now ! "And I say that if anyone get the smart idea of starting to call you that... They need to be beaned in the head hard by those methods of mass destruction right here." She wriggeled her two webbed fingers. "...That or a showel, whichever's more accessible." She said with a grin, hoping to lighten the mood.

Pyroth smirked "Yeah, they'd probably find a way to stop you leaving, not that it'd be easy to find land off of here anyway. It would suck if they stopped you from being able to fly altogether." he himself had found a new hobby in just running, running till his muscles got to tired to anymore. It was making his formerly emaciated looking frame fill out a bit more with muscle thanks to a proper diet. "And I hear you, any time I try and phone the labs I end up feeling like an idiot too. They talk to you like you are some idiot kid." And that stung his pride most, people a half his age talking to him like he was an idiot.

He was brightened by her suggestion though and laughed. "Those things could take an eye out or worse! Though admittedly a shovel has that...agricultural touch. Though seriously, take my word for it, if anyone calls me something stupid like that, I'll show them that this Fido bites."

He glanced out across the beach briefly. "Know what this island needs? More games. Stupid things like volleyball, things to keep us going, because I'm bored as hell and most traditional things elude me. I still owe someone a kareoke showdown too someday."

She decided to let the whole lab matter drop, to preserve the good mood, as she smilled. "That might be a good idea, actually." Kim pondered, rememering her recent round of basketball with Jamal. "We could all look like idiots and fall face first into the sand." She grinned, taking another sip at the bottle. "That karaoke showdown would be interesting, as long as it's not against me !" She let out another laugh.
PostPosted: Thu Aug 31, 2006 7:37 pm

"Trust me, anyone who had the misfortune of coming up against me in a kareoke in the past usually claims their ears were never the same. I'm apparently tone deaf, or at least my old buddy Khan used to say so anyway. We used to go round bars trying to see how quickly we'd get booted out. Problem was most people want an encore from a ruly crap singer." he smirked "And now with /this/ voice and the tendency to slip into that coyote-howl when I get too loud I think I'd break the machine." he laughed, taking another drink of his JD, noticing that it wasn't as strong as it had seemed the first time, a good sign he should slow down his consumption of it.

"But yeah, even if we all did fall over or mess up in silly ways, it'd still be fun. I'd have to repress the urge to run off with the ball though. Colche would beat everyone if it was a race probably. And if it was one of those dancing games like they have in the arcade..it would just be utter chaos."

He was suddenly struck by the absurdity that would be an islander game of twister.

"Oh, you mean Dance Dance Revolution don't you." Kim couldn't help a snort, almost spitting out her drink in the process. "There is a machine here actually, and I hit it on occasion. I left a few bumps on it. I've danced against someone before, I think her name was Bobby or something like that. She was pretty damn good at it too."

"As for karaoke, well, I sign like a teapot." She grinned. "And ill'd likely topple the machine over. But let me tell you one thing... I. own you all. at any game of capture the flag you can find." She winked as she took another sip. Thanksfully, the low alchool content wasn't hitting too hard.
PostPosted: Thu Aug 31, 2006 7:57 pm

He nodded "Yep, that sounds about right." he almost died at the mention of Bobby playing on it though, twitching an eyebrow. "Bobby?" It must have been a while ago, he supposed, as much as he cared for her, he doubted she'd be very nimble these days "I'd never have guessed." he said, still somewhat amused by it. "I'd probably be considered cheating if I played it now. Disqualified for excessive legs." he smirked.

Memories of Khan resurficed at mention of capture the flag. He'd been forcibly sat down and roped into playing whatever games Khan had decided that day, and had proven useless at all of them, except by some bizzare fluke and much to Khan's chagrin, Timesplitters.

"Oh I'm /terrible/ at that. The guy I used to live with was a pain and'd make me play all that sort of stuff, no idea why. Used to get pissy when I repeatedly beat him at one of his favourite games though, couldn't get his head round that it wasn't just.. what the hell did he call it?.... newbsluck or something."

He looked thoughtfully at the jungle "Now a /real/ game of capture the flag would be awesome."

"Oh, I wouldn't have either, but she definitively had played before, ill'd bet on it. And yeah, one leg on each arrow, you'lld be unbeatable."

She tossed a bang of long black hair back, and idely started twisting it around her fingers. "Ahhh, noob luck. The bane of gamers around the world, but it's what it takes to knock some sence in a few heads, sometimes." She shrugged. "Now, at a real capture the flag, I would suck. But ill'd definitively want you in my team." She grinned. A fast flag runner was always a good idea.
