A very quiet swooshing noise filled the air followed closely by the appearance of Lerato, though oddly there was just barely a trace of his reiatsu. "Calm down, Kid. Ain't no one gonna hurt you just yet." He growled as he cast a very mean glare over at Durzin. "The Pretty Boy over there is just trying to intimidate you, that's all. No one fresh out of the academy would be put in that kind of situation. Now shut up and wrap this around your stomach." He called, throwing a roll of gauze over his shoulder as he slowly made his way towards the other young man. "And don't freak about that little cut you have. It'll heal up sooner or later. No need to get Captain Aio involved in this." His voice held a tone of finality to it.

"And you!" He growled, "How dare you act like that to a new member. He's hardly been in the squad less than a day and you try to send him to the medics? Don't you think you should run that type of spar by someone first? Look at him." Lerato's voice now shook with an unspoken power, his nose only a few inches from Durzin's. "I don't care if you want to show him around. Hell, I applaud you for wanting to show him the ropes, but I swear... if I catch you trying to send him to the fourth squad even one more time before he's at least had some formal training, I'll have your a**! Do you understand?" His normal glacier blue eyes turned into pools of icy blue fire.

Without so much as another word he turned back and marched to the newest member of the First Division. "Welcome to the squad. My name is Lerato DeClement. I'm you're new Vice Captain. The Red Man," he uttered the name without realizing that the new kid probably had no idea of who he was talking about, "is out right now, but if you need any thing, or want to ask some questions, feel free to hit me up. I'm usually around the squad some where, Mr..." He hesitated as he reached into his back pocket, pulling out a small slip of paper, "Flint?" Looking from the paper to the man and back to the paper again he smiled. "Say... you wouldn't be from the West, would ya?" His inquiry was halted only when Lerato was able to recall just what he had come here for in the first place. "Listen up you two. Here soon we'll be doing some old fashioned training, got it. This won't be easy, so I suggest you have your fun now, and make sure to grab a bite to eat because here soon you won't have the time."

Aero was a tad bit dumbfounded by the speed of things around here. "Ummm... Thank you?" he said, catching the gauze. He took off his shirt and started to wrap himself up. It was true this wasn't going to kill him, but he was surprised that getting stabbed was such a regular occurrence. He figured was just over reacting. Perhaps he was a little too influenced by his days in the army. Still, a little cut like this beat getting trench foot any day of the week.

"Thank you Mr. DeClement. Or do I say Vice Captain DeClement? Or just sir?" He said, unsure of the regulations regarding proper titles. "You can call me Aero if you like. Augustus or Mr.Flint never really suited me too well." He found his sheath and tucked his sword away. The katana looked so pretty sheathed, it was almost a shame he didn't care for it.

"Yeah, I am a Westerner. But I can get use to things around here."
He said, smiling as he put his shirt back on. "I like the robes you guys wear, very fancy." Aero commented, relishing his own as he put it on.

"But what is this about some old fashion training? I could go for some of that!"

"Thank you? Kid, don't get me wrong. You're nice and all, but I'm saving my own a** by keeping you safe. If the Captain caught word that you were in the medical squad already I'd lose my head. And don't worry about all the formalities. Just call me Lerato or, if you must, Sir. I've never been one for all that title bullshit any how. As long as you know the pecking order of things, you give me your best, and down get yourself killed, you'll be okay in my book." He smiled, holding out a hand, "Aero, huh? Like dynamics? You were a pilot of some sort then, I take it?" For the first time in what seemed like forever he let himself slip back into the comfortable English dialect of his youth. "It's good to meet another Westerner. Of course I don't mind damn near everyone coming from the East, but it's still nice to know that I'm not alone." He chuckled heartily.

A wide smile broke across Lerato's face. "Oh you could, could you?" Obviously the kid was new to the Squad, otherwise he wouldn't be so eager to jump in just quite yet. "The training I'm talking about will get you two in better shape. We are, after all, the Duelist Squad. What that means for you is that from here on out you will be taught to use any thing and everything to your advantage when in battle. We look outside the box when it comes it tactics, whether they be for swordplay or kidou. If there's a way we can fit it our needs, we will. But you will also learn humility and nobility. Unlike some of the other squads we also pride ourselves on our morals." Looking into the kid's eyes he gave a half-cocked grin. "Don't worry, Kid. Life here will get easier as time goes on. You'll meet plenty of friends to drink with. Hell, if you're lucky you might even meet a girl, though they all seem to be taken at the moment." He smirked.

Durzin watched the exchange between the two, nonplussed, for a few minutes, "I wouldn't have killed him, it wasn't anything to complicated and was a simple basic katana form, he said he wished to learn. He was doing quite well for someone unversed in the techniques and forms, makes me wonder how he got through the academy...Oh well." He looked Lerato in the eye, scarcely fazed by the more highly ranked Shinigami's apparent rage. "He wouldn't have needed to go, I was taking precautions, and he gave almost as good as he got, specially as seeing as how he was using an unfamiliar weapon and style." Durzin flicked his blade to clear it of blood and sheathed it. A moment later his hand creeped up to his shoulder, giving evidence to his claims, the weight had struck with not an unfair amount of force.

Aero couldn't help but smile, the Vice Captian seemed very straightforward and he found that quite admirable. He respected a man who didn't mince words or anything like that.

How he got his nickname was a long story, which could be saved for another time, preferably while inebriated. "I wasn't a pilot, but I wanted to be during the war. It just sort of stuck, and in all fairness I thought it sounded pretty cool." He shook his superior's hand, happy to find another versed in western customs.

There was an ominous feel to how his Vice Captain spoke of training. It inspired a strange mixture of anticipation and dread in him, that he couldn't help but enjoy. It felt like the first day of Boot Camp, all over again. Hopefully this time he wouldn't throw up. Or at least not on someone. Or at least not on his drill Sergent.

"Can't wait Sir. Can't wait at all." He said, releasing his Vice Captain's hand. He turned his attention to Durzin, whom Aero had not yet shown his appreciation to for. Admittedly Aero over reacted when he got stabbed a little, but Aero believed Durzin when he said he would not have hurt him seriously.

Aero bowed to Durzin, has believed was the custom for thanking someone. "Thanks Durzin. I appreciate you sparring with me. And I learned quite a bit from our short encounter. Next time maybe we should try with something a little less..." He hugged his stomach, his wound barely hurting now but was still present. "Sharp."

"No one ever thinks their going to seriously injure their opponent in a friendly spar, Durzin. That's why they're called accidents." He barked over his shoulder. "The sooner you learn that, the sooner you'll start moving up the ladder. You can't always assume that everything will be okay. When you do, things can go wrong. Always be on your toes. Tell me Durzin," He started as he rounded on the man, "...exactly what precautions were you taking? After all, I see that you're using a real blade, instead of the shinai that are provided. Neither of you are wearing proper training garments. In actuality I can't see a single thing different..." He bit, looking around with a rather dissatisfied expression. "That being as it may, though," Lerato walked a short distance away from them both before continuing, "I guess I should thank you. Now that I know he's behind the curve when it comes to katana forms, I'll be sure to get a suitable tutor to train him."

"Can't wait, eh?" His laugh was dark. "Good. Then I can safely assume that you'll be more than eager to get to the training grounds once I'm done preparing them, can't I?" The Vice Captain didn't bother to turn around, deciding instead to call over his shoulder. "Durzin, do me a favor and clean up around here, then show the Kid around the grounds. Make him feel welcome. I'll send a hells butterfly once I'm ready for you two."

Durzin's blinding smile was let loose once more, it tended to happen around his Vice Captain more than elsewhere, but that was simply because he refused to make any allowances for it, "But I was on my toes, just like you should be for any even slightly athletic or possibly exhausting exercise." However then his face slackened into a more serious expression once more, his head bowed slightly in acknoledgement, "My apologies, we should have been using proper equipment." His head still bowed he nodded and very slightly flared his reiatsu in response to his superiors request to clean up the area.

"If you wish you can help, although you have absolutely no obligation to do so I assure you, this is my duty." With that set about, picking up the ruined weights and tossing them into a trash bin, setting those that had been removed from their wracks back on them, and writing a quick note to those whose duty it was to regularly care for the dojo to get replacements for what he had ruined. With a bit of hesitation he signed it with a post-script stating to pay for them from his own funds.

His work done he looked back over at Aero, "Now, where have you been on the grounds so far?

Standing up straight, Aero cocked his head to the side thinking of where he had actually been around the grounds. He had seen the great entrance, and most of the public grounds.

"I guess I haven't really seen the barracks here." Aero commented, figuring that to be a good enough place to start. "And I suppose if there are any secret places that only Squad 1 knows about, I haven't seen them either." He said in jest.

Aero was now noticing that there were still weights around his ankles, making it difficult to move around. He kneeled and took them off, and smiled as he regained full mobility.

"Where should we go?" Aero asked, walking to the door of the dojo. He picked up his bindle of belongs and reattached them to the of his katana.

"Well, the barracks is mostly just that, a barracks. We'll check it out later if you like. The special places you'll have to discover on your own. Other than that there is the Fourth squad Medical care area, you'll have to know where that is. And In Twelfth is the Senkaimon, that'll let you move out of the Seireitei on command to head to earth, Kill hollows and all." He stood for a moment to wait for a reply before correcting himself, "The only unique area of our squad I would think to mention is the Koi Pond." From there he became silent, waiting for the recruit's reply before continuing onto what could quite possibly turn into a tour of the seireitei.

Aero nodded his head understandingly, he knew most of the stuff around here and it was nice to know he had seen it all. "Nah, I got the gist. I think I'll just go wandering around or something until I am needed." Aero stated, feeling like it would be nice to walk around this place for a while.

Aero was about to go out the door when he turned his head back,"It was nice to meet you Durzin. I will see you later." He said with a smile. And with that Aero began to walk out the Dojo. Perhaps he would look at that Koi pond. Aero had never seen a koi before. Perhaps they were like cod fish. But why anyone would keep those things without eating them is a mystery.
