Tess looked at Arkell in alarm, seemingly having suddenly forgotten that she'd tousled with his hair. "And you tell us that -now-?!" he asked, hopping to his feet. He looked at the geckos with disdain, not realizing there was one that had decided to cling to his back. "If they're poisonous, why the hell'd they build a school here? 'Oh, one of the mutants will heal everyone?'" He backed up away from the area, crossing his arms over his chest.

Aya took in the information without much reaction. She simply stared at the geckos with slight interest. "Hm....so they aren't completely defenseless." she smiled. "Then that would explain why there are so many of them. The birds probably don't want to take the risk of 'food poisoning."
Aya smirked at the gecko entangled on the boy's back. Knowing he would most likely spasm from the information being told to him, she casually walked past him then turned around, plucking the gecko from his fur. She enclosed the writhing creature in her palm and walked back to where Arkell was standing.
"I don't think that you would catch a disease as well as.. we could." she gestured toward herself and Arkell with her free hand. "So you're probably safe."

Mal slightly laughed in agreement, then sighed and rubbed his eyes under his glasses. A moment later, a girl appeared in the doorway. She greeted them and motioned down the hall towards her room.
"My name is Marie Jakeman," she said. Mal smiled and nodded.
"Nice to meet you," he replied. "I'm Mal." For a moment afterwards, he was silent. A feeling of awkward tension crept up to him as he wondered what he should do. She continued to stand in the doorway and Mal got the distinct impression that she wanted to come in.
"Wanna come in?" he asked.

Arkell began to giggled at Bane again, "not THAT kind of poisonous silly! When I say poisonous I mean you should lick your fingers after handling them or lick them in general. It won't kill you, it'll just make you a little sick. Thats there defense mechanism against birds." She said nodding to Aya to say that she had been correct in that deduction. "It's just enough to make the birds throw them back up and remember that they taste bad."

Sergey jolted up when he heard Marie's voice at the door. He gave her a smile and a little wave. There was still wisps of smoke trailing up from his head feathers and some of them looked quite burnt, filling the room with a rather acrid smell. He wrinkled his nose and got up off the bed to open the window to let in some hair to get rid of the smell, beginning to grumble again. When Mal offered for her to come into the room he grabbed the chair from his desk and spun it around so that she could sit in it as he hopped back up onto the bed.

Marie smiled and hoped into the chair presented but Sergey saying, “No the pleasure is all mine.” There was a slight pause before he nose wrinkled and she noticed the subtle haze of smoke coming from Sergey’s feathers. “Jobar!” [Trans: Holy cow/mackerel/etc.] she gasped, more perplexed than shocked. “What happened to your head feathers?” Marie got out of her chair and climbed on Sergey’s bed, sitting up on her knees, though probably still not tall even to see over Sergey’s head.

“Do you know anything about this? Because, it defiantly wasn’t smoking early?” Her controlled monotone voice sounding a little higher than normal as she looked to Mal with curiousity.

“Thank you.” Terra said. She sat down across from him and began to eat her salad. She tried to think of something to say that would start a good conversation, but nothing came to her. This is stupid. I force myself to sit with someone and I can’t think of anything to say. She decided to remain silent and let the boy start a conversation if he even was going to.

Marie had been down sitting in the chair and then suddenly she was up beside him. He had not really been paying attention having phased out for a second, but when her voice came somewhere near his ear he jumped and yelled "GAH!" He took an invultary jump away from her, which involved him jumping right off the bed. He landed harshly on his back and groaned softly from the floor sitting up to rub his head and shoulder. He looked up at Marie wincing slightly as he gingerly brushed his feathers, "I got ento fight viff dog boy, the fire girl ended it." was all he said, since that explained pretty much everything.

Aya smiled as Arkell nodded to her. She looked back at Bane before remembering her closed hand. She frowned a bit. The thing inside her hand had stopped moving. She shook her hand a little, nonchalantly. It stayed still. She grimaced, and looked around for a good spot to throw it where the other beings there wouldn't notice. She froze as she saw what seemed like thousands of beady little eyes staring at her.
They know...
She smiled nervously at them and put her hands behind her back. She tried her best to breathe slowly and be calm. As long as she didn't concentrate and was apathetic, she wouldn't have a rotten gecko in her head. Or rather, a rotting gecko in her hand.
Just a morbidly dead one...
Despite the thought, she smiled and looked up.
"It's starting to get dark isn't it?" she asked.

Tess scrunched up his nose a bit, wincing a little in the process. "Well, I didn't know that..." he grumbled. He checked his nose and was glad to find that it wasn't bleeding anymore. His muzzle was still rather sore, as was his stinging tail, but at least it wasn't such a big pain anymore. Looking to Aya, he blinked as she seemed to be hiding something in her hand, and then glanced around when she commented on it getting dark.

"I dunno... I suppose it is." he mumbled, sighing as he yawned and scratched his chest a bit. "I... Don't notice it until the sun's down, really." he added. "If it gets too dark for you, I guess... I could walk you two to your dorms. But only because nobody knows what might jump out at you in the dark. Maybe some freaky kid with bird legs and a funny accent..."

Arkell yawned as well and gave a little stretch, nodding her agreement with Aya. "Yeah, it is getting kind of dark. And I wouldn't mind the escort back to the dorms." she said with a smile to Bane. She disregarded the way the gecko's were looking at Aya. She began to head back the way they had come, pausing to look over her shoulder to see if they were going to follow.

((*hugs waya achak* Thank you!!! I gots an idea now!!))

Aya smiled and followed Arkell. Her eyes scanned for a place to drop the dead gecko. She turned her head casually, though she meant to catch a glance of the dog boy, who would obviously see her action. She began to breath a little heavier. If she didn't drop the gecko soon, it would fully decompose. Then, as her body wouldn't be able to kill it anymore, it would take in what was left. And if that happened...
She cringed, remembering the test they'd forced onto her in The Cell. Her body hadn't been able to stimulate itself after taking in the remains of a small flower. All it could understand was that a strange substance had entered her bloodstream and her antibodies were not able to destroy it. Thus, resulting in fights trying to stay conscious and complete shutdowns, not to mention the puking of blood or anything she'd eaten that day (if she did at all) and becoming extremely weak.
And this time it wasn't just a small flower. It was a good sized gecko.
She swallowed, trying to sustain her panting. She turned around completely, facing Bane.
"Well come on then!" she called, hoping for him to walk past her, not caring if it was out of anger.

Mal watched as Marie was upon Sergey. In a flash, Sergey was on the floor. He rubbed his head and shoulders and winced at Marie.
"I got ento a fight viff dog boy, the fire girl ended it," Sergey said with his heavy Russian accent. Mal hadn't noticed the smoking feathers when he had entered, but he also wasn't really paying attention. He also hadn't known about the tussle, but Sergey's description sounded adequate to him.
As Sergey began to stand, Mal held a hand to his mouth to cover his smile. He hadn't expected him to fall onto the floor like that, but it had been incredibly funny.

Marie blinked, and held back a laugh, “Are you okay? That dog guy seems quite rude. Perhaps he needs a good belly rub. … Eh… that was a lame joke.” She looked down at Sergey, “I suppose I shall go back to my designated seat to avoid further harm to anyone in this room.” As she moved, Marie glanced at Mal’s expression, smiling a little more herself.

She sat playing with a lock of her dark hair, bangles tinkling from time to time. “Tell, me about yourself, Mal. Where are you from? We already have three culture covered in this room so far with my English and Spanish ways and Sergey’s Russian home. What year are you and what elective classes are you considering?” Marie glanced at Sergey with the last sentence, curious of his hobbies as well.

Tess blinked as Arkell moved ahead to go back to the dorms. He paused for only a moment, and then looked at Aya as she seemed to demand he move faster to follow. There was something... Something weird. She was hiding something. That, and his keen sense of smell picked up another oddity. He grunted at her and turned up his nose before moving to follow Arkell. Whatever. Wasn't his problem.

Tess went to stand next to Arkell, up to his full height, before he crouched down onto all fours to walk more comfortably beside her. He looked behind him at their other companion. "I'll leave you behind if you don't start walking now." he called to Aya.

Mal sighed and shrugged. Scooting back on his bed, he leaned against the wall and looked to the ceiling.
"I was born in Jersey," he began. Looking at her, he added, "New Jersey. In the States." Looking back to the ceiling he sighed again. "I'm a junior and as for electives, I don't even know what this school offers." Looking to her, he smiled. "I ran away to come here. I didn't get any enrollment offers or acceptance letters. My hope was to get here and just make them take me." He laughed a little and shook his head. "But they got to me first. I was on my way here when a helicopter took me off of the boat I was on." For a moment, he sat still, remembering the boat ride. Suddenly, he remembered his cat and almost jumped.
"Lucy!" He exclaimed. Standing, he searched the small room for his luggage. Strangely, it was no where to be found. For a moment, he wore an expression of utter distress, but a soft padding noise came to his attention. With great pride, Lucy strode into the room, her head held high in an air of regal strength. She immediately leaped upon Mal's bed and sat down to begin cleaning herself. Shortly after Lucy followed a burly man with Mal's suitcase. He waited at the doorway for Mal to approach him and when he did, he greeted him with a gruff tone.
"You Malcolm Tiberius?" the man asked. Mal nodded and the man dropped the suitcase. "Delivery." With that, he was gone. Mal forced a short laugh of disbelief and carried the suitcase to the floor next to his bed. After shoving it under, he sat down next to Lucy and began petting her.
Motioning to his cat, he said again, "Lucy."
