The smoke cleared, and Kaede found herself back at the base of the tree. It would seem that the range of the jutsu was about 49 paces, after all. She heard a crunch and looked down. The yellow flower now crushed under her sandal. The girl frowned. She really needs to start working on her landings more. Well, it was already dead, so it wouldn't hurt to use it for the next Kawarimi no Jutsu. She took her foot off the flower and crouched down to its level. The stem was pinched, and the part holding the squished petals snapped off. Then, Kaede walked close to the lake to deposit the flower over a rather large rock.

If she performs the kawarimi no jutsu successfully, the girl will have to try to steady her feet on the round surface of the rock afterwords. To spice things up, maybe she should try moving around while performing the handseals. Her make believe opponent wouldn't be so courteous to wait for her to perform all the handseals. After all, bad guys never do that. Kaede turned from the rock and started running, counting the number of steps she took. Around the fortieth step, she began to go through the handseals.

'Remember the target's location, on top of a rock. The rock is about two feet from the lake... Ram, boar, ox, dog and snake.'

"Wh-whoa!"

Kaede flapped her arms to regain her balance. Though she knew that she was going to land on an uneven footing, she wasn't completely prepared for it. She slid a little, and her fixed sandal fell off, but she didn't land on her butt this time. A relived sigh. Kaede stepped down from the rock to retrieve her broken sandal.

There was still one more thing she wanted to test, which is whether it was possible to kawarimi no jutsu with an object in motion. But her throwing power was weak. If she threw a rock and attempted to go through the handseals, the rock will land before she even gets to the dog seal. No, the girl would need another person to throw it for her. But she was training by herself. Perhaps at a later time, she'll go ask Tai... ju-san.

Kaede took a glance at her academy scroll, the only other jutsu that was available for learning was the Kakuremino no Jutsu, and that required two people. Well, that's out of the question for now. What else is on the list? There was Taijutsu, but she didn't want to fight and that also required another person. Hrm... first aid? Well, she the girl already at the library, and she could use that opportunity to treat the wounds she inflicted on her hands back at the academy and the wounds she may have gotten from that tree fall. Not a bad idea.

The girl hurried back into the library, slowing down to a speed walking pace once she entered back into the building. Kaede slid back into her chair, pulled out a sheet of paper and re-dipped her brush. But first she needed to record down her findings for future reference.

The Bunshin no Jutsu: Will be dispelled if touched by water, the user, or a rock.
The Bunshin no Jutsu: Probably the same goes for any object organic and inorganic.
The Bunshin no Jutsu: The ground, sunlight, and morning temperature appears to hold no affect.

The Kawarimi no Jutsu: Can probably be used to confuse opponent of user's position.
The Kawarimi no Jutsu: Best used to move out of a dangerous situation, dodging an attack, or retreating.
The Kawarimi no Jutsu: Note: Ask SenTaiju-san to help test whether Kawarimi no Jutsu works with an object in motion.
The Kawarimi no Jutsu: Details are subject to change with more testing or more reliable sources.

The Henge no Jutsu: Handseal is tiger.
The Henge no Jutsu: Sound wavelengths and light wavelengths allow user to assume the appearance of another person.

Funny how the girl had it down but then she forgot. Well, nothing a little studying won't fix. But the first aid research takes priority first. The girl let her pen sit in the ink bottle and left her desk. Now, she needs to go pick out some reading materials.

Then, she set off for the library card catalogs and pulled open one of the cabinets and started sifting through the cards. What was nice about Konoha's library, was that their catalog was a dictionary type catalog: in which all entries such as author, title, and subject were meshed together in alphabetical order.

Kaede decided to pick two books to read and set off for bookshelves in the 600s, where the sciences were. She reached the 613s. Dark eyes narrowed, trying to skim the multitude of books and scrolls until they landed on a Konoha Hospital Safety Handbook, 6th edition. This would be the book that will guide her on her first aid training.

Her eyes also caught on an, Atlas of Human Anatomy, 3rd Edition, which she nabbed, even if she wasn't looking for it in the first place. It will probably be useful for target practice and perhaps first aid.

Then, there was the other book she had initially wanted to get. Two shelf rows away, Kaede found Understanding Physics: Light. It would help her decide what wavelengths the girl would need to change colors for her Henge no Jutsu.

The girl plopped the pile of books back to her table, careful to make sure they weren't touching her notes. The ink had yet to dry and Kaede didn't want to have to pay for books she ruined. As if she could afford that. The first thing the girl did was flip to the table of contents and skim.

The lesson called for learning three techniques... but all of these things seemed to be so useful. She should probably learn them all for future use. But what to start on first? Hrm... Well, the wounds on her finger were the oldest ones, so she should probably treat them herself. Kaede nodded and flipped to page 12.

Kaede pulled out another sheet of paper and began to write down the info word for word. And from the looks of things, the girl would have yet another book to pull out and read. It would be cheaper to prepare the herbs herself than to buy them. And if Konohagakure was attacked as often as her father made it out to be, then a steady supply of the herbs would not always be available. And now that she is sitting here to learn the ropes to first aid, she asked herself: Do I want to take the medical route? Sen-Tai...ju-san had said that there were many paths a shinobi could take. Now that she thinks about it, becoming a medic-nin could be one of them. But, no, it had not really been on her mind at all. Kaede was a wimp about pain, and to see other people's injuries? Her psychology might not be able to handle to such gruesome sights. No, this was just another tool on her belt. Because it was impossible to become a shinobi without gaining wounds. It not a career choice... for now. She couldn't rule it out completely, but it would not be her first choice.

Konoha Hospital Safety Handbook, 6th Edition, page 12
VIII. Bleeding

How to Identify Cuts: Skin is sliced open. Blood and pain are present. Vulnerability to an infection if neglected.

How to Treat Cuts: Have a readily prepared Medicinal Salve applied to the cut. (For more info on how to prepare Medicinal Salves see Konoha Hospital Medicinal Herb Book.)
xxxxxxxxOther Alternatives:
xxxxxxxxxxx * Apply a tourniquet. (See page 21.)
xxxxxxxxxxx * Clean wound with soap and water, if available.
xxxxxxxxxxx * Apply a bandage, gauze, or a clean cloth. Press on wound for 10 minutes. Do NOT try to apply pressure with bandage.
xxxxxxxxxxx * If still bleeding, elevate that part of the body higher than the heart. ONLY if it is practical to do so.
xxxxxxxxxxx * When bleeding is finished and the wound is dry and clean, apply an extract of Shepherd's Purse. (For more on how to prepare a tincture of Sheperd's Purse, see Konoha Hospital Medicinal Herb Book.)
xxxxxxxxxxx * Apply another layer of bandage if you have to. Make sure they touch, but do not overlap. It will be easier to remove later.
xxxxxxxxxxx * Change every 24 hours until healed.

How to Identify Scrapes: Less severe than cuts are scrapes, usually a light tear in the skin. Because more nerve endings are affected, it may seem more painful.

How to Treat Scrapes: Same steps with how to cure a cut, except substitute a Shepherd's Purse with a Myrrh (For more info on how to prepare a tincture of Myrrh Purse, see Konoha Hospital Medicinal Herb Book.)

How to Identify Punctures: Basically stab wounds. May not result in bleeding, but there will be pain.

How to Treat Punctures: Allow the wound to cleanse itself by bleeding.
xxxxxxxxxxx * Remove the object (e.g., splinter or senbon) with sterlized tweezers.
xxxxxxxxxxx * To sterilize tweezers, hold a lit match, lighter, or a steady flame from some jutsu to the ends.
xxxxxxxxxxx * Let them cool and wipe the ends with sterile gauze or a clean cloth.
xxxxxxxxxxx * Do this 2-4 times a day. Clean the wound area with soapy water, if possible.
xxxxxxxxxxx * Dry it well and apply medicinal salve or myrrh.

How to Identify Bruises: Marked by black and blue or red skin. As they heal, the skin turns yellowish-green. Symptoms are pain, tenderness, and swelling.

How to Treat Bruises: Treat it with a medicinal salve. If it isn't available, try a shepherd's purse.
xxxxxxxxOther Alternatives:
xxxxxxxxxxx * Treat the bruise within 15 minutes of injury by applying a cold pack.
xxxxxxxxxxx * Keep the cold pack on for 10 minutes.
xxxxxxxxxxx * Then apply pressure to the pack.
xxxxxxxxxxx * Take it off for 30 minutes to an hour.
xxxxxxxxxxx * Repeat this process for 2 days.
xxxxxxxxxxx * Rest the bruised area and raise it above the level of the heart, ONLY if it is practical to do so.
xxxxxxxxxxx * Do not bandage a bruise.
xxxxxxxxxxx * Try to avoid agitating the bruise.

Turn to page 13 for severe bleeding.

Kaede glanced down, first at her hands to see the state of the wounds on her hands. They had already stopped bleeding, but now they were glazed over with dried blood. Maybe she should pick it off and address the wounds? Also, there seemed to be an irritating splinter where her index finger was. It was probably from the tree... climb? Teleportation more like it. She guesses the wounds on her hands classify as cuts. There was a bruise on her left elbow that she will have to treat. The wounds she currently has are subject to change with a more thorough inspection.

The girl doesn't own any of the materials listed in the book. The only other option would be to retrieve them from the hospital and treat them herself. But Sen... Tai... ju-san might come back at any moment. Kaede glanced at the clock. She'll have to rush and make it quick. The girl put down her brush once more and set aside her notes. She pulled herself out of her chair and sped walked over to the reception desk.

"Uhm.. if, if a masked man by the n-name of Senju Tai... ju comes by looking f-for me, can you t-tell him I'm at the hospit-tal?"

"Ah, yes, of course. Senju Taiju, and that you're at the hospital, correct?"

"Th-thank you, ma'am!" The girl felt that she didn't need to bring the book with her. They probably already have a copy of the handbook there, since that place is the author of the book. The speed walk shifted to an outright run once she was out the door.

[Exit to Hospital.]

"Uhm... d-did..."

"Oh, you're back! No, I didn't see anyone by the name of Senju Taiju."

"O-oh..." It was sure taking them a long while now. Perhaps the practical exams had several stages to it. Or T-taiju-san forgot about her. She hoped not. "Thank you, m-ma'am."

"Not a problem. You said you went to the hospital, are you okay now?"

"Y-yes, I got it taken care o-of, thank you for asking. Uhm, I'll be going n-now. Excuse m-me." Kaede bowed her head slightly towards the woman.

"Alrighty, then. If you need any help, come see me okay?"

"Y-yes, ma'am."

Kaede returned to her desk, noting that the young man who was studying for his college exams was still here. And now he was pulling his hair out of frustration. The girl felt rather sorry for him. Kaede knew what extreme test anxiety was like herself. And within a year, she'll probably be going through that same ordeal when her class has to take the genin exams. The girl frowned. 'What are you doing just sitting there and dozing off? At this rate, it will take you twenty years before you ever qualify as a shinobi. Get back to work, Shirayuki!'

By now her first page of academy notes and her Konoha Hospital Safety Notes should have already dried. To test, she slid the tip of her pinky against one of the letters at the bottom of each page. Not a single hint of wetness. She smiled and stacked the notes on top of each other. Another clean sheet of paper was pulled out. Next, she would read up on Severe Bleeding. The girl cringed. The words already sounded so gruesome... but it was necessary to know if she was to keep walking this path. The girl flipped to page 13. The page numbering was probably intentional...

VIII. Bleeding

How to Identify Severe Bleeding: Can manifest in three external forms: a) dark red blood that gushes
from veins, b) bright red blood that spurts from arteries, or c) blood oozing from capillaries. The
bleeding usually clots off on its own.

"..."

From the first few lines, Kaede could already tell that she was NOT going to lie this portion of the reading. Ugh, groooooss. Just the descriptions like "spurt" and "ooze" made her think of, well... something like a fruit punch fountain spraying out of someone's chest or something. Kaede dropped her brush back in the ink bottle. Her fingers found themselves nervously playing with the little Hyuuga Clan symbol patterned bandaids that she received from the hospital. It was making her more aware of her injuries than she was before. What if the tree fall was a lot more severe than she actually thought it was? What if the Konoha Hospital Nurse was mistaken!? What if she falls over dead within the next 24 hours? The girl fidgeted. She'll have to check the book to find out, but... part of her didn't want to know.

A deep breath. Eyes shut closed. This was necessary. Better to treat it sooner than later. Just write it all down for future reference.

Konoha Hospital Safety Handbook, 6th Edition, page 13

For internal forms, it can manifest as: vomiting or coughing up blood, a blood-tinged sputum, (Seen in diagram 8.1) a bruise on the skin of the chest or abdomen, (Seen in diagram 8.2) and fractured ribs.

Symptoms of Severe Bleeding: Dizziness. Fainting. Weakness. Lethargy. Excessive sleepiness. Fast pulse. Cold, moist skin.
Note: These can occur with trauma to the head, even if it is mild.
Stools contain bright red blood or are black. This is caused by not taking in enough iron. (Seen in diagram 8.3).

The brush in her hand immediately fell from her fingers, and clattered onto the desk, effectively ruining her notes. But the girl was too focused on other matters to care about her ruined hard work. Much more important matters. Did she read that right? Did she? Kaede blinked and frowned hard at the "can occur with trauma to the head, even if it is mild" phrase. OH GOD SHE DID READ IT RIGHT. Hands frantically grabbed at her hair. Trauma to the head! She fell and probably hit her head! And now she's going to feel dizzy and COUGH UP BLOOD and - it did not help with those gruesome diagrams staring back at her -Treatment! How is she going to treat something like this!? There's no way to treat a skull unless someone cuts it open her h...

"..."

'Waahahaaaaaa!' Kaede's head slammed against the desk, and she could feel wetness from her notes and her brush on her forehead and her nose. Oh great! Now she was going to die with ink on her face! She's going to be remembered as the Garbage Man's daughter who failed to become a shinobi because she was too dumb to climb trees and died... WITH INK ON HER FACE.

Kami, could her day get any worse!?

Sniffle. Sniffle.

Trembling hands turned two pages, seeking for a way to find some sort of treatment for her head injury. However, as bleak looking eyes skimmed the page, they began to tear up. Apparently, her day could get worse after all.

Konoha Hospital Safety Handbook, 6th Edition, page 15
IX. Head, Neck and Spine Injuries

Symptoms of Severe Head Injuries:

xxxxxxxxxxx * Confusion.
xxxxxxxxxxx * Drowsiness.
xxxxxxxxxxx * Convulsions.
xxxxxxxxxxx * The scalp, neck, or back bleeds.
xxxxxxxxxxx * The head, neck, or back is in an odd position.
xxxxxxxxxxx * Pain is felt in the back, neck, and/or head.
xxxxxxxxxxx * Possible severe pain.
xxxxxxxxxxx * A stiff neck.
xxxxxxxxxxx * Abdominal pain.
xxxxxxxxxxx * Vomiting.
xxxxxxxxxxx * Loss of vision.
xxxxxxxxxxx * Blurred or double vision.
xxxxxxxxxxx * Pupils are not the same size.
xxxxxxxxxxx * Weakness in an arm or leg.
xxxxxxxxxxx * Walking is difficult.
xxxxxxxxxxx * Inability to move any part of the body.
xxxxxxxxxxx * New feelings of numbness occur in the legs, arms, shoulders, or any other part of the body.
xxxxxxxxxxx * Loss of consciousness.
xxxxxxxxxxx * Blood or fluid comes from the mouth, nose, or an ear.

She felt dizzy upon reading the horrible descriptions - another symptom of a severe head injury - and clutched her inky forehead. The last part made the girl cringe considerably and shut her mouth and plug her ears. Upon the miserable fact that she did not have a third arm to plug her nose, Kaede decided it was a hopeless case and resigned to her fate. Most of all, the absence of ways to get treatment was glaring at her. Instead, all Kaede got from the page was a:

Konoha Hospital Safety Handbook, 6th Edition, page 15
If you suspect a head, neck, or back injury, you must keep your head, neck, and back perfectly still until emergency medical care arrives. Any movement of the head, neck, or back could result in paralysis or death.

Her reading was a total failure. Inevitable. Her 24 hour death was inevitable. Because she had already moved and the instructions specifically said not to but she did it anyway like an idiot and now she was gonna die for real without earning her headband! Frustrated. Kaede was sooooooo frustrated, she felt like screami-

"AAAARGH!"

Kaede's mouth hung open and she found the voice had belonged to the student who had previously been studying. He got up in his chair scream and SLAMMED his shaking hands onto his desk. It was so inspiring that the girl just simply let it all out.

"IMPOSSIBLE. COLLEGE IS JUST IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME-"

"- GOING TO LIVE AS A VEGETABLE FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE LIKE THOSE VEGETALES-"

"- COULD TRY BECOMING A DRUG RUNNE -"

"BOTH OF YOU SHUT UUUUUUUUP!!!"

The desk receptionist looked up from her book, startled, as two cries, sobs and a unison "Nobody cares about me!" could be heard echoing throughout the library.

"UwaaAAAAaaaa~!"

"I'm sorry, but this is just the rules of the library. No distractions. No exceptions. You two can come back in after you both have calmed down. Okay?"

A hiccup.

"Y-yeth m-m-ma'am."

And with that the receptionist awardkly walked back inside the building, shutting the door behind her.

"Waaaahaaa..."

Oh god, she probably looked horrible. Kaede has seen a girl cry with her mascara running. She was ugly for thinking it looked ugly. In fact, it probably wasn't as worse with her face and her ink splatters. Divine punishment for thinking ugly things. And she shouldn't have made so much noise in the library. Now she can't study. And Taiju-san will probably get mad if he doesn't find her here like she said she would. But that doesn't matter anymore. She's going to die anyway. What was there to worry about anymore? What's there to be afraid of anymore?

Sniffle.

"C-coulb you Sniffle. p-path the t-tissueth?" the student asked, with a trembling voice.

"Th-thuuuuuuure. Hic."

A loud noise of someone blowing his nose.

"Th-th-thankth," he sniffled. And he handed back the box. They sat like that for a few more minutes, grabbing tissue and rubbing their faces and sniffling. Possibly enjoying the solace of a fellow misery buddy. Possibly contemplating a horrible future. Until someone finally spoke up.

"Th-tho you're gonna d-d-die, huh?"

A shaky nod.

"It doethn't, th-th-them to bad Sniffle. when y-you have to consider h-how you'll h-have to make hard decisionth th-that will determine if y-your life w-will th-thuck. I'll have t-to libe thith way the r-retht of my life."

That sounded like something her father would say. He pounded those words into her brain all the time, and would dissolve into a three hour lecture on the importance of an education. Education like going to college and learning a stable trade. Kaede would wonder how many regrets this person bore on his tired shoulders. But he was quite still young. Maybe a little older than Miharo-sensei or Taiju-san. No, he didn't have to become a college student, did he? He could always be a musician like the band on her floor or a baker or even a shinobi. She wasn't going to be, now that her chance has been utterly ruined by that damn tree. No, as long as he's still breathing he could still do whatever he wanted. It wasn't too late for him.

"Y-you Sniffle. shouldn't say th-that, you still have t-t-time... to ch-change."

"Not without m-m-money, nothing in th-this world runs without it a-anymore, yeah?"

Her father also said that a lot too.

"W-well, I w-won't need it anymore so y-y-you can have mine. I'll p-put it on my will... Hic. Name?"

"You have t-to pay for a will, yknow? And it takes a wh-while to write it out."

"Oh... W-well, then... g-guess I c-can't do th-that then."

"..."

"... Hic."

"Yeah..."

"I th-think Hic. I'm g-going to g-g-go tell people my g-goodbyeth n-n-now."

"I-I'm going t-to go back i-inthide and write my l-last wordth. N-nice knowing, you y-yeah?"

Tairu walked through the front doors of Konohagakure's main library. Since it was mid day there wasn't a soul around, except of course the librarians. This place is huge, how am I ever going to find what I'm looking for? he then spotted a older woman sitting at a large desk. Maybe she can help me. Tairu walked over to the main kiosk so that he could ask for directions to the books he was looking for.

"Excuse me ma'am, can you please tell this one where the general knowledge books are?"

The librarian glanced up at Tairu with steely cold eyes and then pointed with her index finger to a row of book shelves.

"Thank you ma'am." Tairu said with a smile as turned to go find some books to read.

Tairu heard a hissing noise behind him and when he turned his head to see what that noise was he saw the librarian with her finger pressed against her lips making the sign to be quiet. A shiver ran up his spine, Man she is scary. Tairu thought.

After giving the librarian a simple nod Tairu scooted away towards his section of books. Upon reaching them he randomly selected one from the shelf and read it's cover. "Understanding Dirt" by Miyato Kazumi. I don't think so. Tairu thought as he put the book back. Tairu then selected another book at random. "Chakra Natures" by Mai Suiyong. Sounds interesting. Tairu thought as he took the book over to a nearby table.

Pulling out a chair from the table Tairu sat about foot back from the table's edge and then cracked open the dusty book. He began to read:

Chapter 1: Basic Chakra Nature Types

Chakra inherently has five basic elemental types. Fire, Wind, Lightning, Earth, and Water. Fire (火, Hi) natured chakra allows for Fire Release (火遁, Katon), which is strong against Wind but weak against Water. Wind (風, Kaze) natured chakra allows for Wind Release (風遁, Fūton), which is strong against Lightning but weak against Fire. Lightning (雷, Kaminari) natured chakra allows for Lightning Release (雷遁, Raiton), which is strong against Earth but weak against Wind. Earth (土, Tsuchi) natured chakra allows for Earth Release (土遁, Doton), which is strong against Water but weak against Lightning. Water (水, Mizu) natured chakra allows for Water Release (水遁, Suiton), which is strong against Fire but weak against Earth.

Minoru wandered into the library, his mind preoccupied with what he was there for. Surely it wouldn't be hard to find information on basic katas. It was surprising that no one was taught basic weapon skills in the academy. If it hadn't been for the target practice exercise that he had done earlier, he wouldn't have known how to use the weapons he had been given. Yet his weapons were still virgins in their own right. Until they were splashed with the blood of another human being, they wouldn't be true weapons. Until that time, they were nothing more than flashy pieces of metal.

As he skulked in between the shelves he shrugged off the looks some of the other people gave him. How out of place he must have looked, with his strange clothing and creepy nature. Minoru only glared at those who were staring, and went on with his search. There was no reason to waste time bantering with such ignorant people.

After a few minutes of exploring the vast library, Minoru managed to pull a few books off of the shelves that seemed to contain information on weapons. He moved them over to an open table in the far corner of the library, away from the judgmental eyes of others. Here he could study in silence.

Minoru managed to sort through two of the five books, and realized that they only contained part of what he needed. Thinking quickly, he began to take specific notes on what was being presented. He made sure to note specific body positions and weight distributions, hoping to avoid confusion later. It appeared that most of the information was only in regard to throwing the weapon, as if that was its only function. The single mindedness and refusal to innovate was practically strangling to Minoru as he gazed around the room anxiously. The feeling of claustrophobia began to sink in as the walls began to feel ominously closer.

Trying his best to shake the feeling, Minoru went back to his books, hoping that he would be done before long. He really needed to finish this and get back outside before he had a mental breakdown. Humans weren't meant to live in such small wooden and steel boxes. It just wasn't natural... But those were issues he had to deal with at a later date. He had to refocus himself on his training before he completely lost himself to his paranoia.

Minoru easily cleared the next two books, and made sure that he bookmarked the correct pages for later use. As another precaution he wrote down the page numbers and volume information. If he ever needed to come back for more information, he would avoid making the mistake of consulting the same books twice. These books were beginning to exhaust Minoru, who had to keep himself from nodding off a few times. As interesting as these books were, they seemed to offer little in terms of practical knowledge. As with most ninja abilities, it appeared these required actual practice. That was just fine with Minoru, after all he was getting quite anxious sitting in the library for so long. In truth he had been there only a short time, but he already felt nature calling for him to return to it. As Minoru yawned again he began to flip through the last book in his pile.

NAT 1 = AUTO FAIL

Minoru woke with a start as he peeled the pages off of his face. Stupid books, being boring and uninformative. Why couldn't they just make the information easy to find instead of hiding it behind massive volumes. He had no interest in books, only practical combat maneuvers. Everyone had to start somewhere though; it wasn't as if he could just immediately know everything there was to know about kunai combat. It would have been better if the people writing these damm books had any idea of how to use the kunai as more than just a throwing weapon.

Minoru sighed as he thought about the people in Konoha. They all seemed to be absorbed in their own little words. Of course, most of them hadn't traveled the way Minoru had. Compared to the open road, the village felt... small. There was such a large world out there to explore. Yet people couldn't seem to see beyond the city walls. Perhaps one day Minoru would be able to show people the joys of the outside world. After, of course, he finished his training. It was becoming duller by the second. Surely there couldn't be too much more to study...

Minoru clenched his teeth as he frantically flipped through the tome. It seemed to taunt him as he failed to find what he was looking for. It had specifications on just about every weapon, but it didn't have an index or a table of contents, it wasn't done in alphabetical order, and no one seemed to have made any kind of numbering system for the weapons. Just who thought that this book was a good idea?

One more try. He would give it one more try before he put the book back and kept looking. He already had a considerable amount of notes from the other books, but they were all about specifications. How to hold the weapon. How to throw the weapon. How to throw it accurately. It was as if no advance kunai techniques existed. But it didn't matter. Minoru was dead set on finding some way to capitalize on the kunai. It was always looked at as such a dull weapon, so basic and useless. In fact, Minoru was hoping people would assume those things. It made him unexpected and unpredictable. It would force his opponents to think twice and reconsider what they were doing, just as Minoru wanted.

Minoru cursed his luck as he looked through the tome from hell. While it had information on just about every weapon known to man, picking out a single one was like trying to figure out which clover had four leaves. Although he could probably use some clover now... He could use it to steal a pack animal and then sell it to someone else for twice its value, and then use that money to pay someone to get the information for him.

Even without his constant animosity towards the annoying volume, it was a daunting task for him to keep looking at it. The only reason Minoru was looking at every page was because it had references to other books that would help him. He was here to learn katas, not study their practicality. Disciplining his body and mind would be key when becoming a ninja and it would allow him to keep the ever present feeling of fear away when the moment of action came.

Yet what good was any of that if he couldn't stay awake long enough to find the information he needed. He held back a yawn as he looked at how long he had been in the dark library. Shaking his head to clear the fog, Minoru went back to idly flipping pages in search of his target.
